I had a good time here at the bar on a karaoke night in Sep 2025. It's a location that's easy to ignore driving by, just find your way into the ample parking lot from Centre Park Dr, and it's straight back at the end on the right, with the back towards MD-108 Old Annapolis. The bar was pretty full, and they had some nice spirits. I had a Sagamore Rye, neat, which is always sublime. The bartender staff Sherri and Herb are always energetic. It took a minute for someone to greet me and seat me, but that was the only hiccup. Once I was settled, the service was great. The waitress was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, especially with the live music playing in the background. It gave the place a nice, laid-back vibe. We went for a Thanksgiving buffet, as neither household could host this year and we decided to keep it simple. They did a great job with the food, and there was plenty of it. It was relaxed and casual feeling, and everyone was very nice. I actually really appreciated that they had a minimal staff, allowing most of their staff to be home on the holiday, though the woman running the show was extremely busy - I hope she had a very restful day the next day. I absolutely loved the science theme with the beakers and such. Had a couple more than the reservation, so they added another table no problem. Decor was pretty meh, very basic. There was an AC vent over my chair blowing cold air. In February. Huh. Our server came by and didn't take drink orders and started off pretty pushy about appetizers. We did end up ordering a couple - crab dip (good), Ahi tuna tartare (OK, too much sauce) and prosciutto flatbread (OK, not a lot of character). We order a bunch of different entrees, and everyone at our table agreed that they were all OK at best. I had the seared tuna steak with bok choy and rice. As it came out, it was pretty tasteless. I asked for some soy sauce and that helped a ton. The rice was overcooked and mushy, bok choy was overcooked and somewhat charred. My wife got the cream of crab soup and some fries. The fries were pretty good actually. The soup was very rich and had almost no crab in it, unless they had run it through a blender first. But this is Maryland and we expect some lump crab in our crab soup darn it! :-D I think the overall conclusion was that there wasn't a lot of seasonings being used in the kitchen - everything needed help. Oh, and my son's pet peeve, they served a weird off-brand ketchup that was almost sickly sweet. Just serve some Heinz and call it a day! Came for happy hour - $5 glasses of wine were calling my name after a tough Wednesday. We sat in the bar area and the bartender greeted us within seconds with menus and a smile. We were super excited to try the Brussels but were worried about being able to order from the full menu at the bar but were pleasantly surprised to find that we could! We ended up ordering the chicken bites from the HH menu and the Brussels from the normal menu. Our bartender was attentive even with a full bar area to attend to by himself and the food came out quick. The Brussels had honey old bay on them with a sriracha aioli to dip and were honestly PERFECTION. I will be coming back for more and if you're smart you'll order them too. We went with Korean BBQ for the chicken bites and they did not disappoint. They had no spice but all the flavor. My only complaint is that they either burn incense or have hookahs in the restaurant and we kept getting whiffs of it while trying to enjoy our food/drinks. 12.21.23 Hubby and I had a $25 gift card we won and a Local Flavor coupon to use so decided to stop in for dinner. This restaurant was formerly Centre Park Grille. Our server, Ryan, had someone training with him. He was very friendly upon greeting us. He informed us about their happy hour menu. Upon perusing the menu, I asked him for his recommendations between the tacos and boneless wings on the HH menu or the brisket grilled cheese sandwich off the regular menu. He recommended the latter. Unfortunately, it was just average. The ciabatta bread was too thick and the sandwich was dry. It needed more butter and perhaps more cheese or a sauce. The fries were good, crisp on the outside, but soft on the inside. I took half of it home and had it for dinner the next day. The sandwich was hearty. It tasted better the second day as I added more butter and regrilled it. I also added a touch of Worcestershire sauce. Hubby got the Hot Nashville Sandwich which he enjoyed although he said the pickles which he doesn't like infected it. Lol. Overall our dinner was decent, but nothing stood out. small update: the short - periodic table runs a lot of promotions and events including discounts and happy hour specials that are really cool. However, what falls short is the ambiance and the quality of the food served. I don't really recommend for special events. The last time I visited I ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich. There was very little chicken and it was overcooked. The sauce also kind of felt like someone sprinkled some hot sauce on top as an afterthought. Very underwhelming. I also ordered a replacement side of broccolini (extra $3) instead of the fries because we already had fries coming to the table. That was a mistake - the broccolini had no seasoning on it and I got 3 broccolini with no flavor on it. And the fries were probably the only item that came out well. The service was okay - no complaints here. The ambiance lacks something. The way the tables and the bar is set up, it feels as though it's missing some kind of character or identity. All in all, I was left pretty disappointed with the food and the overall experience. read more

Fish was fresh and tasty. Burger was on point. Brisket grilled cheese was a little dry, can use more sauce. Mushroom appetizer was a little overly sauced and a bit too sweet. First the good, their happy hour specials are pretty good and the bartender is very personable and helpful. Unfortunately the quality of the food and atmosphere continues to decline. I really want to like this place but it is just off. The last I was in was not good. So the husbae and I visited Periodic Table today as we've been on this, "let's eat more at home" deal, especially with him having recently retired and me being a federal employee (IYKYK). Unfortunately, we were disappointed. I won't bash the business (I typically don't do that) but there were many reasons that disappointed us: the wait time to be acknowledged - see photo of the overall empty dining room (another patron left due to this; sad because outside of us and the other patron, there was a 12 person party in the back), the time it took to be served, and lastly the food itself. I ordered an apple martini (my favorite), meh, it was okay. We ordered the pepperoni flatbread (to share) it was soggy and lacked decent flavor, 2 cups of "cream" of crab anything but creamy (it was remade without us asking, so, thank you - haven't looked at it nor tried it) and made with backfin or claw crab meat, and the wings despite a great flavor (lemon pepper) were flash fried and underwhelming (we also requested all flats, but did not receive them). WOW! Howard County hidden gem! I've lived here over 20 years and never experienced this place. Family was SO Satisfied I had to comment on our experience. My NYC son loved the vibe and theme. I very rarely post any reviews. Just got back from DC National Harbor and had 2 horrible family dinners the were very overpriced Greeting was good and seated at our table. Waiter was very attentive and communicated well We got our water immediately and drink order to follow. Beers, Martini and Old Fashions were very good. We got wings and Brussel Sprout apps. On the outside you'd never think this would be a foodie gem, but what was it we were taught growing up, never judge a book by its cover. And boy does this book have a lot of gems (dishes). My two favorite dishes are the pork belly buns and the burger. They also have a good IPA list and they all pair perfectly well with the burger. Stopped in for lunch and the portions here were crazy big. The chicken wings were a meal in themselves. When we ordered soup and a half sandwich, the half sandwich was the size of regular bread slices and the brisket was piled on. There's a lot to like about Periodic Table... Creative food, craft cocktails, reasonable prices... all in the largeish space with a bar and some outdoor seating, that has previously housed several restaurants in this convenient-but-hidden spot off MD-108. There's a good-value happy hour, rotating drink menus & specials, and seasonal fare. I LIKE it. Which might make it seem odd that my next comment is it feels too...suburban. It has that unpolished feel of a restaurant launched in the 'burbs without the competition of a local F&B scene. The drinks are tame. The food flavors muted. The decor bland, almost an afterthought. It's struggling with service levels both times I've been. Too many TVs at the bar, not enough people chatting. It's totally fine, but definitely not "popping". Considering the other aspects of being suburban (easy access from the highway, a short drive for those of us in the county, easy parking), this place is a win for anybody living nearby. Their outdoor tables would make for a pleasant early escape from work once it's warm again. I just wish it was a little more... polished. read more

This is more of a 3.5 than a 4 but I want to chalk my experience up to just ordering the wrong thing. Our server, Ray, was honestly the highlight of the meal. We enjoyed chatting with him and he was super helpful. The cocktails and mocktails my group got were all solid. I would've had a second but I had to drive (womp womp). If you're down for bar grub, this place is pretty good. If you wanted, say, a veggie burger like I did, go elsewhere. The veggie burger was some risotto that someone attempted to form into a patty with a few beans and vegetables tossed in. I usually finish a veggie burger feeling better about myself. This one was carb city. The absolute worst part was the street corn side. It's advertised as a Mexican street corn with risotto. Spoiler alert - it's canned yellow corn mixed with the same risotto from the veggie burger with a dash of paprika on top. No other seasoning. That's it. $3 upcharge for that instead of the fries, which were actually good. I'm pretty sure this was the most disappointed I've ever been with a side dish. Luckily, our man Ray had me covered and took care of it. My friend's brisket grilled cheese, on the other hand, was delicious. Learn from my mistake and get the greasy, bad for you bar food. I stopped in for a quick lunch in the late afternoon. The Periodic Table is tucked away in a business park so it can be a little hard to miss if you've never been. Parking was ample and easy in the lot out front. The inside of the restaurant is pretty straightforward and fairly quiet. I chose to sat outside on the front patio which was nicely shaded. The server was friendly and efficient. She immediately brought out waters and kept the refills coming. I liked how the menu offered suggested pairings with beers. I thought that was a really nice touch that you don't see at every place. I was debating between the chicken sandwich and the fish and chips (clearly I was craving something fried and crispy). I ended up going with the fish and chips and was slightly disappointed in my decision! While the skinny fries were perfectly crisp and seasoned, the fried fish left much to be desired. I think it must have been overcooked because it was impossible to cut into and the inside barely had any meat in it. It was essentially just an over-fried hunk of batter. I'm not one for sending meals back so I tried my best to consume it. I think this must have been a fluke because my friend ordered the same thing and hers came out with plenty of meat in the middle. Overall I was a bit disappointed but based on the other reviews, I'm sure it had something to do with my choice from the menu and inconsistency in frying times. If you're in the Columbia area, give Periodic Table a shot... but maybe stay away from the fish and chips. read more

The food was worth three stars. Honestly, not much to write about there. The rest of our experience was a disappointment. We sat outside and proceeded to wait quite a long time for food to arrive. We were brought out two side salads early as an apology for the wait without any servers actually acknowledging our wait and leaving two other people at our table without food. Then our main dishes came out with additional sides. Meanwhile, our companions waited 10+ minutes for refills on their tea. Maybe we were just forgotten about since we were sitting outside? Here's where things get strange. We started to hear the two other tables near us grumbling about their food and then later, their bills. We were a bit confused until we got our check and saw all our burger toppings (lettuce, tomato, onion) each had an additional $0.30 charge. The sauce was an additional $1.00. These add-on prices were listed nowhere on the menu. What is listed as the "Personalized Burger" with a single patty and the option of adding toppings and sauces for $8 ended up being a bait and switch. Everyone in our section had made it known we were unhappy at one point or another. I understand the pandemic is making things difficult for restaurants. The fact that no one at this restaurant seemed to care about our experience was what was most upsetting. read more

I came here for the Tuesday night burger special which I have to explain to anyone else who is confused by the menu: the special is only $3 off the Steakhouse Burger - so normally a plain single patty burger is $8 and on Tuesdays it's $5 (double patty is $7 instead of $10). Toppings are extra. On the laminated menu, the wording is misleading and suggests that specialty burgers and single patty burgers both start at "just $5." No. The specialty burger is full price, and it doesn't matter if it's a Tuesday. It is just a burger of the week with certain toppings. There is also a pizza of the week (generally does not seem to be Detroit style). Ok so now that that's clarified... The burgers are ok. I did like the veggie patty but I didn't think the special burger was worth $18. The fries are great- perfect crisp, not too salty, not greasy... same thickness as McDonald's (shoestring?). I tore through these. The blistered shishito peppers were excellent. I thought the combination of the pickled onions, candies peanuts, microgreens, and sambal ranch all really elevated the dish. Great flavors. We also got the specialty pizza which had fresh mozzarella, duck, fennel, and fig jam. It was too sweet with all the fig jam, and I would say that there was too much duck meat as well. Felt heavy and greasy to eat. There were also duck bones on the pizza... Overall I'd probably give this restaurant a 3.5-3.75/5 stars. I think having a drink pairing probably would have made the meal more interesting but we just wanted to try the food. read more

These two stars are for the food. The service was terrible. I get that restaurants are short staffed but we could have been treated better. We were seated in the bar area and brought a drink menu and a bar bites menu. When I asked if we could order off of the regular menu or restaurant week menu, we were told no that they were only serving food from the bar bites menu. However the tables next to us had both the regular menu and the restaurant week menu. Why were we denied? It took an hour to get our appetizers and when the food runner brought them, she asked us if we needed anything else. We said yes, small plates please. We never saw her again. Our entrees came out a half an hour after that. No one came and checked if our food was okay or if we needed anything. I had to go to the bar to get another round of drinks. From the looks of the Yelp reviews, I knew this place would be good. But I didn't know it be damn good! As soon I entered the establishment, there was a nice young lady at the front to walk me to seating of choice. Shortly after I sat down, Jessica M came over to assist me with water and took my order. Jessica was pretty great throughout my visit making great recommendations and ensuring I had everything needed. I ordered the Blackened Catfish (corn puree, peruvian fried rice, asparagus) and Osso Bucco Wings (frenched chicken drums - Plum Sauce). I was a little sceptical about the wings because I wasn't familiar w plum sauce but I'm glad I chose them! That sauce was awesome. My catfish was blackened and was probably one of he best catfish meals I've ever had in my life. I loved the catfish texture and flavor as well as the accompanaints. The peruvian fried rice was the best ever, asparagus were great!! Everything was absolutely perfect. The environment totally cool. I sat in the bar area and they had plenty of periodic tables as expected as well as other scientific elements hung up on wall. The walls were also lined with tvs with different sporting events. I look forward to returning here within 30 days! I cannot go past 30 days to come back to this place! This place is nestled downstairs of an office building. It has a private parking lot with ample parking and safe lighting. They offer outdoor seating for those who prefer patio seating. Fun place in Ellicott City, with both indoor and outdoor seating. The outside space was enclosed and had space heaters placed accordingly, but the inside was larger than it appeared from the outside, and they had every other table available for seating, so we opted for inside. I do feel like if I had a restaurant named such a cool name, I would use that as a gimmick for drinks and food, but we did not really notice anything out of the ordinary other than a picture of Edison, and a periodic table on the wall. Our server came right over, and told us a few specials, and came right back with our drinks. I ordered their version of a smoky old-fashioned and it was delicious. I love that it was served with the smoke still trapped in the glass so I could release it when it arrived. Many of the items on their menu sounded good, but because I hadn't had one yet, I went with their crab cake BLT. Delicious! Nice big patty, that you could actually see the crabmeat in, with thick slices of bacon. It came with french fries, or I could have substituted a salad. For dessert the table split an excellent slice of chocolate cake which was super rich and moist. Can't wait to return my next visit to Maryland. read more

I had no idea that this restaurant even existed prior to my event. I was here for a show and brunch that included social distancing. This pandemic has put a toll on us all. Mentally and physically with some weight gaining included especially since I'm working from home one week and at my facility the next. I really missed hanging out with my girlfriends. Don't worry we kept it safe with our face masks on except for eating & the photo I took of them. I know last year I probably only seen them once or twice. We all were overdue. We had a table of five. They did very good with making sure the table next to us was vacant. The food was good and they had a variety of flavorful mimosas. Yes thats right. This was my first time trying that. It was delicious! I tried the bottomless Amaretto flavor and it did not disappoint. The restaurant is pretty large with very clean restrooms. I definitely pay attention to that. They also offer outdoor dining with plenty of parking available. The menu for our event was good with a nice selection. I would love to return and check out the regular menu. I will be putting this on my list of restaurants to revisit. Probably more sooner than later. read more

Every Friday my family and I are faced with the same dilemma....what are we going to eat for dinner! As I was scrolling through Yelp, I recalled reading a fellow Yelp Elite's review from The Periodic Table mentioning that they had heated outdoor seating. After calling the restaurant to confirm, we headed to Columbia. It was fairly warm on Friday, but the temperature had dropped slightly that evening. While it was still warm enough for us to dine outside under the heated lamps, the inside was virtually empty, so we decided to just dine inside where we'd be most comfortable. The hostesses were only seating guests at every other table, which allowed them to maintain the six-foot spacing requirement and we kept our masks on while we weren't eating our meal. The entire staff was amazing. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable. She was able to provide suggestions and explain menu items when we had questions. One of the mangers stopped by our table to check on us throughout the night. Lastly, when we were leaving, the hostesses both addressed our party and thanked us for our business. Now, to the food! Absolutely EVERY item we tasted from the menu was awesome! The Moroccan Nachos were a welcomed change from the traditional tortilla chips and cheese. The Shepherd's Pie, which I was eager to try for the first time, was very flavorful and very filling. My son's, who had the crab cake BLT and the fish and chips, couldn't even finish half of their meals. The portions were huge and they virtually took home an entire meal in their doggie bags. With such large portions, the quality of the food was still amazing and the prices were very reasonable. I look forward to returning to try other items on the menu! read more

SERVICE: Absolutely amazing. We ordered carry out and was greeting immediately upon entry. The host took our payment and handed over our food. The manager came by to give us a warm greeting. Love when management takes time to do this as well as support their staff. I give them six stars for greeting us by name. LOCATION/FACILITY: This is located in an area full of diverse businesses. It is at the very end of the first building when you we get the parking lot. PARKING: Free and ample amount of space. SEATING: Large dining area | Bar | Outdoor seating with heaters COVID-19: [Decemeber 2020] Due to the current pandemic; each party was seated far apart and staff wore masks. The offer curbside pick up. SUMMARY: There were so many starters it was hard to choose just one. Their entire menu has a variety of items to choose from. It looks like we'll be back. We finally tried this place after hearing so many good reviews. It did not disappoint. We ordered take out and as soon as I called to let them know I had arrived, the food was immediately brought to my car. I had fish and chips which were amazing. The breading on the fish was so crispy and tasted amazing. My hubby tried wings and Moroccan nachos. The nachos were so good and unique!! I loved the pita chips. My daughter got shrimp and fries and the portion was huge for a kids meal. She loved the fried shrimp. We will be definitely order from here again. Loved it. read more

Actual rating 3.75. Some rough edges for this new restaurant, but they do aim to please, so I rounded up. Hubby and I visited on a cool early October evening. I had seen reviews online; when I noticed a number of Yelpers praise this new place, I knew we had to make the trek to Columbia. I will say that we had a little trouble finding the place in the dark. The GPS led us across the street to where the Giant, the Royal Farm, and other stores are. Guys, it's in the office complex across Center Park Drive. We called ahead, and were glad we did. We were seated right away on the outdoor patio area. There were patio heaters, and the waiter Reeves even moved one closer so we'd share some warmth with other tables. Waiter was friendly and attentive. He enthusiastically explained all the specials with detail which I appreciate. Drinks right out. Food took a little while longer than it should. Not too bad though. FOOD Pros and Cons are as follows: Pros- Good Flavors. The beef and grits in hubby's Pinwheel were tasty. Vinaigrette on my salad was savory, light, and not too tart. Nice presentation/plating of food. Micro greens garnish is a nice touch. Cons- the Steak Pinwheel (Special) was very small and not filling enough. There is only a few spoons of grits rolled up in a thin steak cooked medium (not med rare as the waiter explained). Only one small slice without any sides left hubby still hungry. My beef stew/soup had only 4 small cubes of beef. I didn't mind the thinness of the broth ( waiter explained ahead of time). I didn't want to complain after I'd eaten it, but the amount of beef was not acceptable for a beef stew. And no veggies in there either. Osso Bucco wings (we ordered after meal due to still being hungry) seem more like chicken leg tops. I prefer the flat pieces, and I'm not a fan of dark meat. Menu did describe as " drums" but I didn't know they weren't the normal wing tops. Sauce was significantly hotter than explained, though nice flavor.( Owner thinks it may have been the wrong one). One of the owners, Lance, came by to check on the wings and he offered us some take home signature sauce when we return. Lance and the staff here really do care, and it shows as it's a great gastropub. We will come again, and maybe try the Meatloaf or the Cuban sandwich. read more

If you are a foodie, The Periodic Table is a must try. I was in the mood for cocktails and something delicious, but different. The Periodic Table didn't disappoint. As we came in the restaurant, We were greeted immediately and with a smile. The manager let us know all the precautions they are taking due to Covid. He let us know that all employees have gloves on and how the AC is circulated through the restaurant. I felt that this restaurant is taking Covid 19 safety seriously. This is the first restaurant that I been to that all restaurant employees are wearing gloves. The menu is very creative and different. The Salmon was delicious and a distinct flavorful that is difficult to describe. My Fish and Chips portion was large. I took home half of the portion. The Chips or fries were very crispy and not greasy whatsoever. This restaurant is definitely great. read more

4 of us came here on a Wednesday evening. Two of us arrived earlier than the others and were greeted outside. We requested an outdoor table - for which they have several choices. It was a rainy evening but their 4 or 5 tables along the building have at least 8 feet of overhang beyond the table - we stayed nice and dry! Key tips: - ask what the beer menu is, as the on-tap menu is likely not correct - ask what is not available from the food menu prior to ordering Service was generally good - had to ask for more water a couple times. The overall experience was fine - I will likely come back after giving them some time to work their kinks out. We were given a laminated alcoholic beverage list and single-use menus. Their bourbon list is extensive; they also have the usual liquors, small wine selection, beers on tap, and mixed drinks -- note: no prices were listed next to anything on the drink menu (pet peeve of mine). We immediately looked at the on-tap list - I chose a cider and my husband ordered a beer he hadn't tried before. Server told us the list was out of date and she read us the current list. Our 2 additional friends arrived and noted that they had been a couple times before and the beer menu was different than presented each time. In addition, we had to ask what was unavailable on the menu prior to For dinner, we ordered the scallops gratin ($13) as a starter and fish and chips ($17) for dinner. The scallops were well made and the sauce was reasonable. The fish and chips was smaller than I expected, with two hand-length fried fish pieces (including the fluffy batter). The fish portion itself was less than I expected for the price and reminded me of a lunch portion with a dinner price tag. The fish was a bit greasy but tasted good with the remoulade they serve with it instead of tarter sauce. I found the rosemary fries delightful - but you MUST like rosemary. They have a very strong rosemary smell and a a recognizable taste. At the advice of our friends, we asked for the fries to be done crispy. During their previous visits, the fries came out almost raw with the server telling them that's how the chef prefers them to be done. Our friends had the table burger - which identifies sauteed onions as an ingredient, but was served with raw onions, they did not ask the server about the discrepancy. They enjoyed the chorizo doughnuts - didn't sound like there was significant chorizo in them. In closing, I think they are a new restaurant that is working out some kinks. The food is pretty good but a few dollars more expensive than I would normally pay for the portion size and quality. read more

We had been talking about coming here and since reservations were hard to come by at our usual haunts we tried something new with our peeps. Pro tip- do the call ahead seating We did and had no wait for 6 of us outside. It was chilly and I wish those heaters could get warmer. Drinks: Island Apple (I think that was the name) and Elderberry Smash The Apple drink for my sis lived up to the description of the green Apple jolly rancher. My elderberry smash was the floral mojito I didn't know I needed in my life. The guys enjoyed the beer list. Appetizer: Moroccan Nachos and Potato and Leek soup The nachos were quite the surprise. The harissa was not over powering. The goat cheese aoli was not too goat cheesy in my opinion....if you know what I mean. My sister loved the soup. I tried a bit and it was rich and hearty. Dinners: chicken strips and grilled cheese for the kiddos that they are without complaining. My sis and I split the table burger. It was rich and delicious. I get why it's a double stack but a single stack option would be lovely. Hubby got the crab cake BLT and polished it off. Brother in law devoured the bourbon chicken. Like seriously.
