Let me start by saying this place was absolutely worth the drive from Hayward. I found it through some online forums and decided to give it a try - and I'm so glad I did. We arrived around 8:30 AM for our dog's drop-off, and even though there were a lot of people already waiting, the process was surprisingly smooth. They clearly have an efficient system in place. After check-in, we were brought inside to speak with the vet, who walked us through everything and answered our questions. Thankfully, our pup was healthy and cleared for the procedure with no concerns. We got a call around 11 AM letting us know everything went well, with a pickup time at 1 PM, which gave our dog time to rest and recover from anesthesia. The procedure went well and he's recovering nicely. Overall, the experience was a 5/5 - friendly staff, efficient service, and incredibly affordable pricing. In addition to spay/neuter services, they also offer vaccinations and microchipping. For our 1-year-old, ~25 lb cockapoo, the total for neutering and microchipping was about $250, which is honestly unbeatable. If you're looking for high-quality, affordable care for your pet, I highly recommend checking this place out and booking an appt online or by phone.

LLOOONNNG REVIEW SORRY I want to give this place a 5 star review Ladies and homies, because of what they do. So I have a few husky mixes at home and I need to spay 3 of my female dogs(1 is 7 years old and 2 are 3 years old) I've been looking for a spot that doesn't charge a crazy amount, I understand it might make me sound like I don't want to spend on my pupz. It's just I don't want to spend thousands, most places charge up from 500-700 for big sized dogs. *and special clinics have some requirements that don't line up with my schedule My veterinarian recommended this place to me so I checked them out(I reside in Fairfield). The process works by you calling or going online and requesting a procedure. You will have to check their dates, but they aren't crazy booked. They send you the paper work online and basically just fill it out and payment will be due upon arrival. The forms tell you of what you need to do before bringing your dog or cat. Get there by 8 the day of the procedure (it's in a quiet shopping center with parking). You step into the facility, without your pet, and check in take care of the paperwork and payment. It gets busy. Then stay at your car till they come and get you and you fur baby. You will speak with the nurse and surgeon , any concerns and questions answered. They aren't super helpful and polite being swamped with the intakes. After that you surrender your pet. Wait a few hours usually by 3 ish your pet will be back in your care with their medicine and aftercare info. They have cones, and other medicine available. I have spayed already two of my dogs Zoey(7years) recovering currently a week after surgery Rosie(3year) two months healthy and active SO check them out support them. They are here for your pets, so show them some love. They are here to help you with your lil babies. Ps..(((for certain size dogs 65 lbs. is an ideal weight for the surgery)) at least for my dogs. Again they are helpful so ask them.

I had a good experience with the pet advocate and so did my cat. The process of getting her spayed was straight forward and organized. I have and will continue to recommend this place to pet owners. It's definitely one of the more affordable options and worth the visit due to the good service.

    SOAKED IN URINE

Absolutely unacceptable care and shady billing. Avoid this place. I dropped my cat off today for a neuter procedure and this experience was a nightmare from start to finish. When I booked online, I paid a $20 deposit, and the website clearly showed my remaining balance would be $150. When I dropped him off this morning, the technician suddenly told me the remaining balance was $170. No explanation. No breakdown. Just an extra $20 magically added on top of the deposit I had already paid. At that point my cat needed the surgery, so I had no choice but to pay. When I picked him up around 3:00-3:30 PM, the technician casually mentioned that he "had an accident" after surgery but that they "cleaned it up." That turned out to be a blatant lie. When we got home and took him out of the carrier, my boyfriend and I discovered that my cat was completely soaked in urine. Not damp. Not a little messy. SOAKED. They did not clean him. They simply put a puppy pad over the accident and left him sitting in his own urine from around 1:30PM until pickup hours later. This is beyond dangerous because post-surgery stitches are not supposed to get wet. We immediately called the clinic, and instead of being concerned or offering a solution, they were dismissive and told us this was "normal." Apparently, in their world, it's totally fine to send pets home covered in urine. They offered no help, no apology, and no guidance. I had to call another clinic in Lathrop just to ask what to do, because obviously we cannot leave our cat soaked in urine. That clinic immediately told me he should not get wet and that wiping him down was necessary. Without me even mentioning the name of where we went, the person on the phone asked, "Was it Pet Advocate?" That says everything. Clearly this place has a reputation for neglect like this. The lack of care, accountability, and basic compassion is shocking. Between the surprise charges and the way they treated my cat after surgery, it is very clear that they do not give a shit about your animals. Do yourself and your pets a favor and go literally anywhere else.

We drove from Sacramento for a dental cleaning and the experience was great and the team and was friendly and nice. Great service I'm so grateful I came across this place! Bernie is also 10 years old so I was a little nervous about his age but he did great and the team was very informative and caring with everything from start to finish!

Great experience 10/10 would recommend, way more affordable then pretty much anywhere else my little dog got a dental I was able to pick up sooner then eta before. So hat was nice .

I am so pleased with my experience at The Pet Advocate! I booked a dental cleaning for my dog, Zero, and needed to reschedule it a couple of times, but the office staff was very understanding and flexible. Once I finally was able to commit to a date, the correspondence I received from TPA was clear and helpful. I was told when to begin restricting food/water, what time to arrive, and the details of the check-in process. As directed, I arrived by 8am and notified office staff. I was quickly greeted by the vet tech, Jill, who was absolutely the best. Jill was warm, patient, and knowledgeable. She let me see where the procedure would be preformed and where Zero would be held, and explained when/why she would call (if blood work was concerning, if it wasn't safe to sedate, if they had suggested extractions). Despite being nervous, Jill definitely helped me feel better about leaving my boy in her care. Since his bloodwork was fine, the next time I heard from Jill was when she called to share suggested extractions. She briefly reviewed the dentition of a dog, explained where there were areas of concern in Zero's mouth, and was able to give me monetary figures when asked. She took time to consider my follow-up questions and I felt the interaction was professional while being empathetic and frank. At no time did I feel that she was trying to upsell me or otherwise get more money out of me. When I picked Zero up, Jill came out holding him. She sat with me and reviewed his bloodwork line by line, his X-rays, and showed me before and after pictures of his teeth. She also provided me with clearly labeled medications. We talked about food and general aftercare, including what I might observe, and I felt comfortable about heading home. We are now at the tail end of recovery and Zero has done fantastic, and I truly attribute a lot of that to Jill & her efforts. Thank you!

I brought my female husky, Cali, here to get spayed and had a great experience! Check-in was fast and efficient, and although there was a long wait, they mention that in the email beforehand, so I knew what to expect. The staff was super nice, and I appreciated that the vet talked with me before taking my dog back for the procedure. The only thing I'd suggest is having two separate lines -- one for drop-offs and another for payments -- since it was a little confusing at first. Tip for pet parents: if your dog has a cone, they may have trouble eating on their own, so be ready to hand-feed. Also, hide their meds in food (I used meatballs!) and make sure to finish all the doses. My husky healed really well and was back to her normal self soon after the procedure, which shows how great their care is! Overall, I highly recommend The Pet Advocate -- they truly care about your pets and make the process smooth and reassuring!

Of course, Dr. Jackson has now left, and everything has gone downhill since. Now the "general manager" -- who is not a veterinarian -- decided to play doctor and tell me that my dog's condition, pannus (chronic superficial keratitis, scar tissue/cloudiness in BOTH eyes), isn't a chronic condition. That is flat-out wrong. Pannus IS chronic and requires lifelong management. I'm sorry, but where did you get your veterinary license to make medical decisions? Instead of simply continuing an established treatment plan that has already been diagnosed, documented, and treated for, they now want me to: Cancel all my existing plans Schedule a visit with another doctor Pay AGAIN Just to be told the exact same thing: Yes, he has pannus. Yes, it's chronic. Yes, he needs ongoing medication. This is a complete waste of time, completely unnecessary stress for my dog, and feels like nothing more than a money-making scheme. This hospital used to be great. Now it's disorganized, dismissive, and more interested in billing than patient care. Losing Dr. Jackson clearly took the quality of care with him. Highly disappointed. Highly frustrated. Highly do NOT recommend.

Disappointing Experience & Questionable Practices…read more We brought our 11-week-old Pomsky puppy to Tracy Veterinary Medical Center after she injured her leg. We were hoping for compassionate care at a fair price -- but our experience was far from that. 1 Repeated Charges Without Clear Medical Benefit Our puppy was diagnosed with a hairline fracture and placed in a splint. We were told to come back weekly for rechecks. Each visit became the same pattern: * Remove splint * Quick exam * New splint applied * Recommend more X-rays Every visit = more charges. ~$125 each time just for the new splint, plus X-rays. It added up fast, with little explanation of why repeat X-rays were needed for a minor fracture. They also pushed additional pain meds even after we explained she was not acting like she was in pain. The upselling felt constant and unnecessary. 2 Concerning and Conflicting Communication A doctor (who was not the first one who treated her) suddenly told us they originally questioned whether her leg could be saved and even considered amputation. This was never mentioned at the first visit -- where they simply took an X-ray and applied a splint. Hearing a more dramatic story later from someone who wasn't there felt misleading and unprofessional. We left more confused than when we arrived. Wait times were also long. We routinely waited 30+ minutes past our appointment time, and splint changes often took hours if we left her there. 3 Poor Quality of Care One visit, they admitted the X-rays taken were at the wrong angle and had to be redone. We weren't charged twice, but presenting their mistake as a "favor" did not inspire confidence. 4 No Accountability or Compassion The final straw: the last splint fell off within 3 hours of being placed. We called immediately -- their response: * We would have to pay again for a replacement splint * They had no time to help us that day We explained we were leaving town the next morning and needed help urgently. No flexibility, no empathy. When we returned Monday to speak in person, we were met with: * No apology * No "I'm sorry you're dealing with this" * No concern for how our puppy was doing * No follow-up guidance on alternatives or better care We completely understand that dogs can chew off splints. But compassion shouldn't come off with it. 5 Overall Impression After multiple visits, inconsistent messaging, constant charges, and zero empathy, we lost all trust in this clinic. We know vet care can be expensive -- but respect, honesty, and customer care are not optional when someone is concerned for their pet. Bottom Line: We cannot recommend Tracy Veterinary Medical Center. Our puppy deserved better -- and so did we. We noticed many positive reviews for this clinic, and if others are getting the service they expect, that's wonderful for them. But our experience did not match those reviews or our expectations. Based on what we went through, we strongly recommend staying clear of this place. Take your pet elsewhere. 100% not recommended.

Very friendly and thoughtful. My complaints are not directly to anyone, but mostly being misled by what this hospital can do and when it can be done. I scheduled a consultation with internal medicine for August 4th. At the time of scheduling, I let them know that I was referred to them for a rhinoscopy and CT for my dog. They told me over the phone they sometimes can do the procedure the same day but it's uncommon. I understood that but still scheduled, hopeful that they could still do a rhinoscopy in the near future as it was something my primary vet urged me to do soon. They had me pay the consultation fee on same day to confirm my appointment, which I didn't question at the time. Keep in mind, they knew I needed a rhinoscopy with internal medicine specifically at the time I made this call. At the time of our appointment, we met with Dr. Louis who was very knowledgeable and kind. When I asked him about scheduling the rhinoscopy, he said they do not have the equipment needed for that procedure at this hospital (IronHorse) and he is only in the hospital that has the equipment (OakVet) ONCE A MONTH. Adding to that, he was out of town in August so we were looking at September. When I asked the nurse about September, she said there was a line so it's possible we couldn't get in. At this time, I was feeling very frustrated because I felt so misled that they knew the procedure couldn't be done anytime soon but still took my money for the consultation fee and led me to believe this hospital could perform the procedure. If I knew OakVet was the one that had the equipment, I would've just scheduled there. But this information was never offered to me over the phone at the time of scheduling the initial consult. I was told the estimate for the future procedure would be sent to me by the end of the week (this was Tuesday 8/4) and didn't receive anything by Friday. I called on Friday and they said end of day, and I did not receive anything end of day. I called again on Monday and they said they are backed up, I should have it soon. It's now 8/16 and I have not received a call or email with my estimate. Overall, the communication and professionalism of some staff at this hospital is not something I'd subject myself to again. I think once they finish the merge with OakVet, it could function better but if you're looking to get a rhinoscopy and CT, I would look elsewhere. We were able to go to Sage Dublin that same week and have the procedure done. All other vets in the area that I called were very transparent about how booked they were and if they have the equipment to perform the procedure I asked about.

While it is never easy to see a beloved pet get older, the care they need by such an amazing doctor makes the experience worthwhile. I can tell my kitty loves Dr M. The banfield pet plan is a wonderful insurance plan. It covers a lot of treatments and diagnostics. Anything not covered is given at a 20% discount. Your pet is like your child, money isn't really a consideration. Doing right by the pet is the important part. The staff here are also quite helpful such as Raoul and Rebecca. Thank you Banfield for having one of the best doctors as your staff!

If only there was a zero star rating…read more In a nutshell, the overall ratings of this location as 2 stars says it all. But here's our story: We took our cat to them for serious issues. Their temp doctor said tests needed to be done, but we should take him to VEG in San Ramon. So we did. VEG took care of him. Then I looked at the paperwork from Banfield before sending it to our insurance. The date of birth was made up because we were never asked. Then a bunch of items were marked as "client declined", which never happened. It's been 3 weeks we've been trying and each time we were told they don't have a way to get a hold of the doctor and he's the only one that can change things. When asked for the manager, we were told she was out sick. Each time it was, "she should be back in a couple of days". After getting tired of this, I called the corporate office. Got a run around and then transferred to a "care team member". I was told that someone should get back to me within 3-5 business days. 6 business days later, yesterday I went there and the receptionist said she was out sick. When I said I wasn't leaving without speaking with someone, she appeared out of the back office. Needless to say, she wasn't helpful, but was rude and said she was going to call the cops. And gave me a number to the corporate office (wrong number). I said she should and I called their corporate office at the correct number I had. The person told me she would escalate the complaint and I should hear back before the end of the day. Didn't happen. I called again right now and got the same 3-5 days story. Apparently the so called "care team" is a buffer to keep customers from voicing their concerns to the stakeholders. I asked the "care team member" what happens if I don't get a call back? She said without hesitation that I'd have to wait another 3 days and call again. If you don't think this is ridiculous, I don't know what is. When you read the above, a lot of questions about discrepancies will arise. The question to each discrepancy is "Why?" Why the refusal to correct? Why the lies? Why no return calls? Why they said they don't have the number to call the doctor they call all the time? Why? Why? Why? Finally, what is it they are trying to hide or avoid? If you care about your pet's health, avoid this place and any Banfield hospital.
