We were away on vacation for a few weeks and my dog got sick. Being away from home we weren't sure what to do. We took her to VCA Old River and saw Dr. Jackson. He was so caring and thorough. Later that week we ended up having to take her to the emergency room but Dr. Jackson was able to follow up with them, request results and checked in on us several times over the next week. He treated my dog like he had known her since she was a puppy. The entire staff was very caring and professional.

Yesterday i brought posey in for exam of skin growth on her belly, its been there a while and recently started getting rubbed and bleeding on her blankets and getting blood on carpet, shes 12 yrs old so we were prepared to put her down if necessary, estimate to remove it was $2607.- $3259. I asked doctor is there any less expensive treatments for it, he said no. So i went home and prepared my family for posey to be put down, my daughter took it very hard, i had made an appointment in modesto at animal medical center on carpenter rd, and depending on their exam i would decide if we would put her down, anyway doctor was very nice and they did precedure for third of cost, while i waited there, it only took couple hours, im so thankful for going to modesto clinic, my family was prepared for posey to be gone, thankfully shes still with us

Im big on writing reviews. Last night while checking out different vets in the area, This is the one I called and made an appointment with. After adopting a kitten from Animal Rescue of Tracy (located in the mall). I was Impressed by both experiences (adoption and vet). Dr Jackson is knowledgeable and thorough. Handled my baby boy with care Thank you to all there for such a pleasant experience!

This vet almost killed my dog. he gave her a starting dose of 100 mg tablet of trazodone when as you can clearly see she should just started out at a minimum of 25 mg tablet since she only weighs 19.2 pounds I went to the vet office to let him know what happened since I gave it to her on Tuesday, and since then she has been throwing up nonstop, diarrhea, nonstop can't walk straight she couldn't even jump. We had to lift her and put her on the bed put her on the couch on the chair. She couldn't do anything. She just laid there. It was the most horrible thing I've ever seen and when I went to the vet, he said hundred milligrams is the standard dose. I give all my dog and I said no that can't be right because all dogs weigh something different and you go by kilos in their weight so she should've had a minimum of 25 mg he didn't take any responsibility for what drugging my dog like that. He never apologized. Never asked how she was doing. Just kept saying what do you want me to do about it that I can't predict how dogs react well that's true, but you can at least own up and acknowledge that you screwed up and gave her too much medication that should have started out at the smaller job, but I got none of that so here I am posting this online because I don't want this to happen to anybody else's dog with this vet.

Cut 14 yr old dogs foot and did not tell me

Cut my dogs foot while "trimming nails" and did not tell me they cut her. Tried to charge me $32 for a nail trim when they said they couldn't trim her back feet after they placed my 14 year old dog on her back she was "slipping and sliding all over the place"... so they just didn't do her back paws....but still have to charge full price. I will never go to TRACY VCA EVER again.

My daughter had her two rescue kittens. They were both vaccinated. But One got leukemia. Linda was so Compassionate and understanding. Dr. Jackson was incredibly patient, respectful and caring. Answered my daughter through email to understand what Poppy was going through. Poppy died after 1.5 yrs of life. He was such a strong, sweet boy. He was so strong we thought he might beat the leukemia. But one morning we found him passed away. I called old river and they said they could cremate Poppy. We could bring him in any time. We did the private cremation, they have us a paw print, a bottle with some of Poppy's fur and now my daughter has Poppy near her wherever she goes. It's such a sad situation. With all the appointments, old River exceeded any expectations. They were all so amazing. Where Jules vet fell so far short.

I initially took her to another vet in town, and it was a complete nightmare. They charged me a fortune ($$$) and put her on heavy, unnecessary medications. When I called them a few days later to report that she wasn't getting any better, their actual response was, "Don't know what to tell you." Frustrated and looking for answers, I made an appointment with Dr. Ross. The difference was night and day. He thoroughly checked her out, got right to the root of the problem, and confirmed it was simply allergies. Instead of masking the issue with a cocktail of pills, he gave her a single steroid shot and clearly explained exactly what elements to avoid at home. Thanks to him, my kitten is doing fantastic and we are finally all good! Dr. Ross is incredibly straightforward, takes the actual time to investigate the cause of an illness, and focuses on the right solution rather than just racking up a bill. The compassion of the Vet and RVN cannot be beat. I am amazed and humbled that such kind professionals took care of G'dog even with all the volume of pets involved. I am very grateful for the clinic and their staff for their service and helping people like me afford such important care. G'dog is a recently adopted rescue dog with no recent, if any, dental care. Luckily, only two teeth extractions were needed. One of the meds for the teeth extraction is liquid and needs to be refrigerated, but I got a cup of ice from a fast food place for the long drive home. For me, it was worth taking the time off and exploring the area, even with the extra driving time. I was at the Pet Advocates office door around 7:45am and I was heading home by 3:30PM. I will be coming back to Pet Advocates for as long as I can. Many thanks to the vet and staff who patiently took care of G'dog. He is already doing better without the previous pain in his mouth.

The Pet Advocate offers significantly lower prices compared to Bay Area vet clinics, which sold me. Even their highest price for an extraction is only $40 (pre-molars and molars). After submitting my pet's information online, I was contacted shortly after with availability a month out and paid my $50 deposit. The instructions say drop-off is at 8am so I got there at 7:45am. To my surprise, there were already a ton of people there waiting for their pets' spay/neuter and dental cleaning appointments. By the time I was checked in and allowed to bring my dog inside, it was closer to 9am. Having come from a boutique-like vet in D.C., I was put off once I got inside. The waiting room was so busy, and there were so many cats inside from Animal Service, pet owners, and rescues. It just felt too crowded. Once we got to the back for the examination, it felt even more crowded and very factory-like. However, the vet was attentive, addressed all my concerns, and the vet techs were very friendly and gentle with my sweet pup. Before leaving you do have to pay first. Please note it is about a 3% additional fee for debit and credit cards, so I recommend bringing cash! Initially, I thought all my dog would need is dental cleaning. However, a few hours later I received a call from his vet technician who explained the x-rays showed serious bone less in one of his pre-molars and a molar. She explained to me the additional amount owed for the medication and extractions so I could be prepared. When I went to pick my dog up at 3pm, there was yet another long line and it took another 30-40minutes for most of us to be called in. The vet tech took the time to sit with me and explain all the limitations, how the procedure went, showed me the x-rays, and advised me on post-care. It helped put me at ease. For the price, it was worth coming here. The only cons were the check-in and checkout system, the number of animals there at one time, and how crowded the examination area was. Aside from dental cleaning and vaccinations, I probably would not come here for anything else. In addition to the driving time, factor in about another hour for check-in AND check out. A week post-op and my dog's extraction sites are healing very well so I'm still satisfied with the service!

They're super knowledgeable and they actually care if you're able to take care of your pets, they make sure you understand what medication's you're taking home to make sure you understand what may or may not go wrong. What may be wrong with the animals what is wrong when they have a definitive answer they're incredibly polite well mannered and I believe this is genuinely a well run veterinary clinic. Any other vet in town either they don't offer the services you need or they just aren't in your price range if you're a pet parent and you're trying to do the right by your animals go here they'll get you right

Staff and the vets were so kind comforting me when we found out my dog's ear drum ruptured from the infection and I burst into tears and broke down. Jessica and Jeane remember us every time and even with 3 major emergency cases today they gave my basic appointment great service and multiple updates. We are so lucky to have this Urgent Care in Tracy and good people working there

If only there was a zero star rating…read more In a nutshell, the overall ratings of this location as 2 stars says it all. But here's our story: We took our cat to them for serious issues. Their temp doctor said tests needed to be done, but we should take him to VEG in San Ramon. So we did. VEG took care of him. Then I looked at the paperwork from Banfield before sending it to our insurance. The date of birth was made up because we were never asked. Then a bunch of items were marked as "client declined", which never happened. It's been 3 weeks we've been trying and each time we were told they don't have a way to get a hold of the doctor and he's the only one that can change things. When asked for the manager, we were told she was out sick. Each time it was, "she should be back in a couple of days". After getting tired of this, I called the corporate office. Got a run around and then transferred to a "care team member". I was told that someone should get back to me within 3-5 business days. 6 business days later, yesterday I went there and the receptionist said she was out sick. When I said I wasn't leaving without speaking with someone, she appeared out of the back office. Needless to say, she wasn't helpful, but was rude and said she was going to call the cops. And gave me a number to the corporate office (wrong number). I said she should and I called their corporate office at the correct number I had. The person told me she would escalate the complaint and I should hear back before the end of the day. Didn't happen. I called again right now and got the same 3-5 days story. Apparently the so called "care team" is a buffer to keep customers from voicing their concerns to the stakeholders. I asked the "care team member" what happens if I don't get a call back? She said without hesitation that I'd have to wait another 3 days and call again. If you don't think this is ridiculous, I don't know what is. When you read the above, a lot of questions about discrepancies will arise. The question to each discrepancy is "Why?" Why the refusal to correct? Why the lies? Why no return calls? Why they said they don't have the number to call the doctor they call all the time? Why? Why? Why? Finally, what is it they are trying to hide or avoid? If you care about your pet's health, avoid this place and any Banfield hospital.
