Bruce waiting to see Dr. Singh
    Lisa A.

Great attentive service. Dr. Singh took time to listen to my worries regarding my Miniature Pinscher, Bruce and set up a health plan for his needs. I will bring him back to this clean profession facility in a week's time for a re-evaluation. Staff Hannah was pleasant and patient with my Bruce who was initially nervous, but quickly put at ease.

I am devastated to share that my 4 year old cat passed away less than two days after undergoing surgery at this clinic. What's worse than losing him is the way the situation was handled; with a lack of professionalism, poor communication, and an alarming attempt to shift blame onto us for decisions we never made. Moosh was taken into surgery and we were told he was stable, recovering well, and would be ready to come home in just a few hours. We followed every instruction we were given for his post-op care, including administering antibiotics and pain medication as directed. The next day, Moosh was lethargic, not eating, and not using the bathroom. Still, we trusted what we had been told -- that he was okay and just having a rough recovery. Moosh passed away that night, I found him in the morning cold and stiff. When I called the clinic seeking answers, I was told he may have had internal bleeding because " *we* had declined radiographs." This was not only incorrect, it's false and incredibly disrespectful as well as unprofessional. After asking for ways we can lower the medical bill, We were told radiographs were "not necessary" and were removed from the treatment plan by the clinic. At no point did we decline any care that was presented as important. In fact we were told word for word "this is definitely not necessary and can be removed". Had we been told radiographs were necessary to save his life, we would have absolutely agreed to them. This attempt to rewrite the facts and place the blame on us after the death of our cat is not only unethical, it's unprofessional. Rather than showing basic compassion, the clinic's response was defensive, dismissive, and misleading. We trusted this clinic to provide professional, honest care. Instead, we were given a false sense of reassurance, followed by deflection and dishonesty when things went wrong. This is not how veterinary professionals should treat grieving pet owners who are simply trying to understand what happened to their pets/family. Please think twice before putting your trust in this clinic. I wish we had done more, but we put our faith in people who were in it for the money and not for the genuine care of another's life. ********************************************** To your response. I would respectfully like to say, your information is incorrect. We did *agree* to remove the service from the care plan-only after being told it was not necessary. It seems there is a miscommunication between the staff and what we were told. cost is never an issue when it comes to saving a life - we had only asked to remove what wouldn't be necessary to do so-in which your clinic then had guided us to the radiographs. Again we had trust in you guys to perform all that was needed to guarantee his survival. *If the treatments were presented as important, we wouldn't object.* And for future Patients, the clinic should know better than to provide and decline treatments based solely off a price tag. They are supposed to be the professionals and do everything necessary to save your pets life. To claim we declined service-and if we did-a conversation should have been made explaining they won't be doing everything necessary to make sure he would survive and to encourage us to agree in order to save him..Instead of letting someone leave knowing their loved ones won't get the necessary treatment to guarantee their survival.

Always struggled to find a veterinarian nearby and luckily when I brought my dog here I immediately found her forever vet! We always have a pleasant experience and love how friendly the staff is. They truly care about their patients and the owners as well!

I initially took her to another vet in town, and it was a complete nightmare. They charged me a fortune ($$$) and put her on heavy, unnecessary medications. When I called them a few days later to report that she wasn't getting any better, their actual response was, "Don't know what to tell you." Frustrated and looking for answers, I made an appointment with Dr. Ross. The difference was night and day. He thoroughly checked her out, got right to the root of the problem, and confirmed it was simply allergies. Instead of masking the issue with a cocktail of pills, he gave her a single steroid shot and clearly explained exactly what elements to avoid at home. Thanks to him, my kitten is doing fantastic and we are finally all good! Dr. Ross is incredibly straightforward, takes the actual time to investigate the cause of an illness, and focuses on the right solution rather than just racking up a bill. Of course, Dr. Jackson has now left, and everything has gone downhill since. Now the "general manager" -- who is not a veterinarian -- decided to play doctor and tell me that my dog's condition, pannus (chronic superficial keratitis, scar tissue/cloudiness in BOTH eyes), isn't a chronic condition. That is flat-out wrong. Pannus IS chronic and requires lifelong management. I'm sorry, but where did you get your veterinary license to make medical decisions? Instead of simply continuing an established treatment plan that has already been diagnosed, documented, and treated for, they now want me to: Cancel all my existing plans Schedule a visit with another doctor Pay AGAIN Just to be told the exact same thing: Yes, he has pannus. Yes, it's chronic. Yes, he needs ongoing medication. This is a complete waste of time, completely unnecessary stress for my dog, and feels like nothing more than a money-making scheme. This hospital used to be great. Now it's disorganized, dismissive, and more interested in billing than patient care. Losing Dr. Jackson clearly took the quality of care with him. Highly disappointed. Highly frustrated. Highly do NOT recommend.

The compassion of the Vet and RVN cannot be beat. I am amazed and humbled that such kind professionals took care of G'dog even with all the volume of pets involved. I am very grateful for the clinic and their staff for their service and helping people like me afford such important care. G'dog is a recently adopted rescue dog with no recent, if any, dental care. Luckily, only two teeth extractions were needed. One of the meds for the teeth extraction is liquid and needs to be refrigerated, but I got a cup of ice from a fast food place for the long drive home. For me, it was worth taking the time off and exploring the area, even with the extra driving time. I was at the Pet Advocates office door around 7:45am and I was heading home by 3:30PM. I will be coming back to Pet Advocates for as long as I can. Many thanks to the vet and staff who patiently took care of G'dog. He is already doing better without the previous pain in his mouth.

The Pet Advocate offers significantly lower prices compared to Bay Area vet clinics, which sold me. Even their highest price for an extraction is only $40 (pre-molars and molars). After submitting my pet's information online, I was contacted shortly after with availability a month out and paid my $50 deposit. The instructions say drop-off is at 8am so I got there at 7:45am. To my surprise, there were already a ton of people there waiting for their pets' spay/neuter and dental cleaning appointments. By the time I was checked in and allowed to bring my dog inside, it was closer to 9am. Having come from a boutique-like vet in D.C., I was put off once I got inside. The waiting room was so busy, and there were so many cats inside from Animal Service, pet owners, and rescues. It just felt too crowded. Once we got to the back for the examination, it felt even more crowded and very factory-like. However, the vet was attentive, addressed all my concerns, and the vet techs were very friendly and gentle with my sweet pup. Before leaving you do have to pay first. Please note it is about a 3% additional fee for debit and credit cards, so I recommend bringing cash! Initially, I thought all my dog would need is dental cleaning. However, a few hours later I received a call from his vet technician who explained the x-rays showed serious bone less in one of his pre-molars and a molar. She explained to me the additional amount owed for the medication and extractions so I could be prepared. When I went to pick my dog up at 3pm, there was yet another long line and it took another 30-40minutes for most of us to be called in. The vet tech took the time to sit with me and explain all the limitations, how the procedure went, showed me the x-rays, and advised me on post-care. It helped put me at ease. For the price, it was worth coming here. The only cons were the check-in and checkout system, the number of animals there at one time, and how crowded the examination area was. Aside from dental cleaning and vaccinations, I probably would not come here for anything else. In addition to the driving time, factor in about another hour for check-in AND check out. A week post-op and my dog's extraction sites are healing very well so I'm still satisfied with the service!

In fact I have held sometimes over 20 minutes and nobody every comes back to help me. Just because it's not an emergency and I am willing to hold that does not mean FOREVER! After you help your customer in line then it's my turn please. Oh also, you had better have a LOT of money because this place will not start with the basic things. They immediately head right to the easiest way to make as much money as possible. Cat got a wheeze and lost a couple pounds? Let's run bloodwork for $650. That all came back fine? Their temp doctor said tests needed to be done, but we should take him to VEG in San Ramon. So we did. VEG took care of him. Then I looked at the paperwork from Banfield before sending it to our insurance. The date of birth was made up because we were never asked. Then a bunch of items were marked as "client declined", which never happened. It's been 3 weeks we've been trying and each time we were told they don't have a way to get a hold of the doctor and he's the only one that can change things. When asked for the manager, we were told she was out sick. Each time it was, "she should be back in a couple of days". After getting tired of this, I called the corporate office. Got a run around and then transferred to a "care team member". I was told that someone should get back to me within 3-5 business days. 6 business days later, yesterday I went there and the receptionist said she was out sick. When I said I wasn't leaving without speaking with someone, she appeared out of the back office. Needless to say, she wasn't helpful, but was rude and said she was going to call the cops. And gave me a number to the corporate office (wrong number). I said she should and I called their corporate office at the correct number I had. The person told me she would escalate the complaint and I should hear back before the end of the day. Didn't happen. I called again right now and got the same 3-5 days story. Apparently the so called "care team" is a buffer to keep customers from voicing their concerns to the stakeholders. I asked the "care team member" what happens if I don't get a call back? She said without hesitation that I'd have to wait another 3 days and call again. If you don't think this is ridiculous, I don't know what is. When you read the above, a lot of questions about discrepancies will arise. The question to each discrepancy is "Why?" Why the refusal to correct? Why the lies? Why no return calls? Why they said they don't have the number to call the doctor they call all the time? Why? Why? Why? Finally, what is it they are trying to hide or avoid? If you care about your pet's health, avoid this place and any Banfield hospital.
