Every time I come in I remember why I always take it to go but I always come back. Been going for years now and sometimes I'd binge and eat here 2-3 times a week. Now that I don't live in SLC anymore I make it a stop whenever I'm in town, it doesn't hurt it's close to my sisters place. This place has been around since I can remember (1990's?). Yes the place is a dive but they must be doing something right or they would have been shut down looong ago. That thing is their sandwiches. Good bread, tons o meat and cheese and all the fixings you want piled in. I recommend jalapenos. If you like clean little yuppie rip off price restaurants then you should probably avoid this place. There are enough reviews on here describing the interior so it's really your fault if you still go here and are offended by the messy place. read more

Great cheese steaks! You can tell the ingredients that they use are great, and everything is super fresh (besides the fact that it all looks ghetto because the establishment is really run down). If eating in a dive bothers you order it to go they are a great value. I'm not a huge fry guy, and that being said I wasn't blown away by the fries or onion rings but take that with a grain of salt. So I tried this place out just yesterday. I got the 8 inch Philadelphian, Fries and a drink. The immediate thing I notice is how filthy the place is. I spotted at least 10 health code violations within the first couple minutes inside. Being someone who ran restaurants for 15 years they are easy to spot. It would not take much to clean this place up if they wanted to. Soda fountain drains drained into 5 gallon buckets near the register. Surprised they don't have fruit flies. As far as the food the sandwich was very good. However the fries tasted like they have not changed the grease in a few weeks and you can actually smell that when you walk in. It has a distinct smell to it. They were not very tasty at all and soggy. The people were friendly but obviously no since of a dress code there. First thing i would do is close it on a sunday and clean the building from head to toe. And if not rip out the carpet for tile at least have it professionally cleaned. I would totally move the soda fountains to the middle of the restaurant where the short wall between the dinning room and kitchen currently sits. This way it helps hide the kitchen and they can use the kitchen drains for proper drainage. Then move the register closer to where the drink stations used to be so you can only see the wall behind it and not the kitchen area. Proper trash recepticals need to be put in place as well and maybe paint some walls and hang up some cool photos or art. It would not take much to get this place to look and feel a lot more comfortable to eat at just some elbow grease and some chump change. I might go back for the sandwich but will most likely get it to go. I feel a little more comfortable at Moochies when I eat. As least I know I won't have ceiling vent dust falling into my food. If they need help.....well this 15 year restaurant Vet can put that place into shape and make it more popular then it is today. read more

To those who try to use authentic philly cheese steak sandwiches as an argument against this one. When you are looking for a greasy, cheesy, grossly unhealthy sandwich, you don't look for some upscale joint that has cute decorations and staff that smile at you and wish you a wonderful day. The only reason I didn't give it five stars, was because the sandwich was not worth five stars. I don't believe a place should get shot down so hard by patrons who do not feel the establishment is very clean, its about the food. This was my first time here and I ordered the 12" Philadelphian with everything on it. The service was fine and the wait time was very reasonable, however, I was smart and showed up around 11:10 AM. I finished my sandwich around 11:25 AM and the place was starting to form a line. Would I eat here again? Absolutely. Would I go out of my way to eat here? Probably not, it was good, but not spectacular. I still stand by the Philadelphia Sub Shop in Clearfield, still wins in my book. I think its the bread. That was probably the missing ingredient at the Philadelphian, the bread was what I would purchase at Walmart or something. A good bread is a little crispy on the outside and nice and chewy on the inside. This place is an absolute dive and I would have it no other way. It's a place that has always been marinating in its own grease, but I can't imagine it any other way. The Philadelphian set the bar for onion rings and has left me disappointed in my adulturist attempts to find pleasure elsewhere. Me and my other half decided to go here for dinner tonight. When we got to the counter to order the kid that was running the register didn't have any motivation to be there. We got our food to go, as we always do, and I have never been unhappier.! I usually go to East coast subs because they are to die for.! I took a bite of my Philly and it was dry. Don't go here unless you want to become addicted. I've been to Philly several times and got more enjoyment from their cheesesteak than in Philly. After having a couple of experiences of surrounding cheesesteak shops (Moochies and DP cheesesteaks), I can conclude 3 stars for this restaurant is the perfect rating. The cheesesteak that I had gotten was the chicken cheesesteak sandwich. The gooeyness of the cheese and the meats being flavorful were on par with DP cheesesteaks. But, it lacked the flavorful taste that Moochies offers up. Plus the restaurant is a little bit too divey. I mean there is a trashcan right next to where you get your order and the place smells like oil/lard. They need to get some vents going or switch it up a little bit. The Philadelphian is in my top 3 sandwich shops on the Wasatch Front, and top Philly cheesesteak. The price is unbeatable for what you get. The portions are massive. My go to is the Philly cheesesteak with everything on it. The fried mushrooms and onion rings are greasy and delicious. It is definitely a dive, so don't go in expecting anything fancy. I think the sandwiches here are really good. It's a place the buddies and I come to after a round of golf. I wouldn't come here on the first date. They told me once that they don't change their oil frequently because it gives the fries better flavor. I like the fries so I don't mind.
