Our server stood out immediately--deeply knowledgeable and able to walk through each dish with impressive detail, right down to preparation. It's easy to see why Kindred earned "Recommended" status in the inaugural Michelin Guide American South and continues to be recognized for top-tier hospitality and cuisine. We started with the Little Gem lettuce salad--fresh, bright, and elevated by the perfect crunch and subtle richness of pistachios. I was honestly confused about being cut off after one drink with meals served and a bar that was half empty and truly it made me upset. While I understand the responsibility of not over-serving, you also have the responsibility of being right about your judgement to which was wrong. I have never used the race card in my life, but as I explained to the manager the complete lack of service and failure to even acknowledge our presence in the building felt very intentional. While dining at the PP for lunch on a recent Saturday, 9/3/16, I was astonished to witness two small children, one barefoot, running throughout the restaurant, from the kitchen to the outdoor area to behind the counter. While the staff feigned not to notice these on-going antics, many of the customers were shocked to see such a display of unchecked behavior from these unattended hellions. Aside from countless health code violations, one has to also be concerned for the safety of the children. I had to wonder, how could any customer allow their children to run amok through a public restaurant with such careless disregard? Also, how could the staff be so apathetic to permit the situation to go unaddressed? The answer soon became clear, and I will leave it to you to deduce the answer to this quandary. While the experience was unsettling and left me on edge and slightly nauseous, I can report that the food soon arrived and my condition worsened. As a conscientious consumer, I can offer only one remedy to these two predicaments: its time that these rogue elements were put to work. The days of their free ride must come to an end! Hard labor is an excellent curative for moral degeneration and perhaps the owners of these children might also learn a valuable lesson in how to crush the spirit of such renegade employees. A happy side effect of such an effort may also be the improvement of the discouraging fare. In conclusion, dear friends, don't believe the hype. Davidson has much better venues to offer. Take your patronage elsewhere and let us all hope this dismal establishment soon succumbs to the mighty power of natural selection. read more

I am a regular at The Pickled Peach. I've been in and around Davidson for over twenty years, and I'm so glad this new business has arrived. I love coming in and watching the friendly owners write down what's on the menu. I also appreciate that they take the time to tell their customers where EACH INGREDIENT comes from. I love that they source locally. My favorite lunch items are: white bean hummus sandwich with avocado and the falafel salad. Sometimes, I will order two sides as a meal. Or, one large portion of a side. My favorites are: black bean sweet potato salad and some of the pea-based sides. I also love the soups, especially the vegetarian and vegan options. Generous portions. The Pickled Peach is one of two places in Davidson that prepares coffee/espresso items with almond milk, which I drink due to allergies. They've got a great machine and skilled baristas that customize your drink with quality ingredients, including delicious HOMEMADE (!) syrups. I can't say enough good things about The Pickled Peach. It's a really good place. The people are friendly. My brother has big allergies and they offer a good menu for people like him. Their sandwiches are really regular-sized when you first see them, but they really fill you up. My favorite sandwich is the grilled cheese on challah bread. Delish!! One of my favorite desserts is the snickerdoodle cookie. I am a big tea-drinker, and they offer many iced (and warm) options. I love the outdoor patio. They have tables for all sizes of groups. We said that we just told the server we need a couple minutes to look at the menu. I'm not sure what the rush was, but it made me feel like they must take orders immediately. For a casual place, with a great playlist by the way, they sure made me feel hurried. The first server came by in a good amount of time, so we finally placed our order. Our food came out pretty quickly. Everything looked really good. Nice portion sizes and the food was tasty. We got a summer lovin flatbread and the California panini chicken sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. I wasn't too fond of the aoli. I thought it was a little thick. I think I would have preferred a honey mustard sauce for the fries. Also, the chicken was so thin on the sandwich you could hardly taste it. Sandwich was good but I expected more of a chicken cutlet as opposed to a flattened piece of chicken as you might get at the deli counter. My guy finished first, but I was still eating. The server comes by and asks what we're thinking for dessert. Again, rushed? I was still eating my lunch. We weren't ready to make that decision but now I wanted to finish and go, because, clearly it's the servers favorite table, and must have some attachment to it to be rushing the meal so much. I think the server needs to work on timing. If one in the party is still eating their food, would they really be discussing dessert yet? And to remind all who are reading: it wasn't a busy day yet. Only a few tables were occupied, so I will be docking a star for the service. Overall if not such a rushed experience, I would say: menu good, portions good, comfortable atmosphere. Nice place. Seaboy absolutely delivered. From the outside, the building is understated and looks more like it belongs near the beach at Oak Island. Once you step inside, however, it is clean, classy, well-appointed, and charmingly coastal without being overly themed or tacky. It feels like the premium restaurant it is. We didn't make reservations because we arrived at 4:30 on a Friday and never expected the place to be completely slammed that early. Jackie, the hostess, took our name and phone number and promised to call as soon as something opened at the bar. Since there wasn't much room to wait inside, she encouraged us to relax in our car. Sure enough, about 15 minutes later, she called and made sure we got the first two available seats. Samantha, the bartender, was both an excellent server and a talented mixologist. She was friendly, welcoming, and attentive, somehow keeping up with all the drinks for the dining room without allowing anyone at the bar to feel ignored. I told her I wasn't much of a drinker but gave her the name of a liquor I enjoy. She created her own cocktail for me, and it was a solid 10 out of 10. Could I walk in and order that exact drink again? Probably not. Would I trust her to surprise me again in a heartbeat? Absolutely. My wife started with a shrimp appetizer that she said may have been the best shrimp she has ever eaten. I had the Caesar salad, which was the only part of the meal that was merely okay. It was beautifully presented, generously portioned, properly dressed, and topped with excellent cheese. Unfortunately, the dressing lacked the bold, savory punch I expect from a great Caesar. Our entrées, however, were phenomenal. I ordered the swordfish, and it was so good that my wife essentially took it over because she liked it even more than the seafood pasta special she had ordered. Fortunately, her rich, cheesy seafood creation was outstanding, so I was perfectly happy with the trade. I polished off her meal, then finished whatever swordfish she left behind! We ended with the deconstructed Key lime pie. It was flavorful and enjoyable, although, like the Caesar, I felt it could have used just a little more refinement. At one point, the chef and owner came out to the bar, shook our hands, introduced himself, and thanked us for coming. He stayed for a little friendly conversation, which was a genuinely nice and personal touch. Those minor critiques aside, the service, food quality, atmosphere, and hospitality were all excellent. Seaboy has immediately become one of our favorite choices for a premium meal, and the overall experience was absolutely five out of five. We will definitely be back soon. Our server was very pleasant, and the wait wasn't too long for our food. I loved that we could pay with ApplePay via the Toast handheld. While everything wasn't perfect, we'll definitely return and try some different items. I want to try them for dinner, too!
