The loveliest breakfast/lunch spot in the Cape! So lovely that my friends and I came here 2 days in a row during our weekend stay in Cape Cod. It was the impeccable flavor of the basil aioli in the California sandwich for me. My friends also said that the Breakfast Burrito and Caprese Sandwich were the best they've ever had, and the smoothies = comforting creamy goodness. The only thing about this place is that they have 2 completely different menus before and after 11am, a rough deadline for a group of ten college students on vacation. I am just sad that we did not stay another day in the Cape to come here again so that I could traverse their extensive grilled cheese menu. Definitely check this place out for scrumptious breakfast and lunch options during your Cape Cod stay!

Fifth star, activated. Expanded lunch menu includes zesty offerings like the Cuban Caper, a Pilgrim's Pride (turkey, cranberry compote, Brie) and a real vegetal looking Pastrami Caper (meat, root slaw, Swiss on rye). Really giving Village stalwarts like Fancys and Crisp a run for their hot sandwich money. Also, it's been decided PC has the best cold brew in greater Barnstable. By me. I decided that. Muffins are good too, esp if you've got a sweet tooth. And I know you do Karen, even if you ARE a Karen. Eat a muffin. Super friendly staff willing to run a prepaid order- yes, you can order online for pickup - out to your car because your baby's asleep in the back. Love the Caper.

    Part 4

This review is long overdue. Sorry in advance for the length. We got married in August 2022 and made the unfortunate decision to go with the Pineapple Caper as our wedding caterer. We assumed that over time, we would just accept the fact that our caterer was a disaster, but looking back nearly a year later, it remains my ONLY regret of our wedding day and the planning (even with several other hiccups on the day, which is to be expected). We decided to go with Pineapple Caper as they were local to our wedding venue and offered a food truck option. It was important to me to go with local vendors to the Cape as much as possible and they came highly recommended by our venue. We hired them for our shower as well, and while I thought the food there was completely bland and underwhelming, it was a small casual shower so it didn't bother me. We worked with Tammy Russell, the owner of the café, on our wedding menu for several months leading up to the event. We wanted a true food truck experience, which we were told was possible since they had one. However, they were completely unprepared for that and should never have offered to serve food in this way. Food trucks always have written menus in some form on the truck. I requested this, and when I was told they didn't have one, I myself (the bride) offered to write up a sign the day before so people would know what their options were. I was assured they would handle it and there would be a menu, and there wasn't. Their only response to this was, "it didn't slow things down or affect the quality of the food". That doesn't matter - your clients that are paying you asked for it, and even offered to do it themselves, and you still didn't do it. We chose to have skewers - with meat, fish, and vegetables (a mix of all 3 on one skewer). This is a pretty common menu item in various places around, and we confirmed it with them several times. However, our guests were served with MEAT (or Fish) ON A STICK. They claimed the veggies had to be separate and their reasoning was that "those items all cook at different speeds so they couldn't grill it and put the skewers together". This was absolutely mortifying to us. If they could not prepare actual skewers, they should not have offered this as a menu item to us. Many guests' skewers were COLD, many were told by Tammy and her husband that they could only have one skewer (even though we paid for at least two each), and my own fish skewer was undercooked and I couldn't eat half of it. The dinner, in general, was abysmal. We also wanted our meal to be entirely gluten free. Myself and several guests have celiac disease, and many others have varying levels of gluten sensitivity. While this was explained to the Pineapple Caper, and the menu agreed upon was entirely gluten free, Tammy chose to add Crab Cakes to the menu. We had no idea this was the case and we are fortunate that none of our guests with celiac disease consumed these, since we told everyone our menu was entirely gluten free. In addition to the food, the beverages at the wedding were a MAJOR issue. We specifically chose a venue that allowed us to purchase our own alcohol and soft drinks and bring it on site, versus having the venue or the caterer purchase it. This was a huge cost savings and we actually enjoyed picking our own drinks and working with liquor stores on the Cape. Tammy told us that we were absolutely welcome to do that, and that they, as the caterers, would even hire bartenders to serve the alcohol that we purchase. However, this too went so poorly and I am completely embarrassed by what happened. First, the non-alcoholic options were not served until AFTER the cocktail hour. The bartenders actually told our guests that their options were only water or alcohol for the cocktail hour (and actually, during our ceremony as well. We have pictures to prove that people were drinking alcohol during the ceremony). My husband brought the non-alcoholic drinks to the venue himself the morning of the wedding. We specifically explained that we had non-alcoholic options to be served during the ceremony and during cocktail hour. We had many guests who were non-drinkers, and we felt very strongly that they had multiple options. The excuse Tammy gave us was that they couldn't find the non-alcoholic options so they just didn't serve them. No one asked us or any member of the bridal party. They just chose to ignore it. This was completely unacceptable. In addition, we had a case of red wine that my husband dropped off to the Pineapple Caper the day before the wedding (along with the other alcohol) and it was never served until AFTER the cocktail hour. One of our bridesmaids realized that there was no red wine being served, and alerted me, the bride, who had to go track Tammy down after the cocktail hour to have her find it. Her excuse was "the red wine was simply an oversight". (Continued in photos)

We were very excited to hear we were getting a new lunch option in town - we've been lacking choices since Jason closed up the Osterville Village Cafe. So, we have given Pineapple Caper three chances to deliver a tasty lunch, yet each time it seems to step down a notch. When you read this on the menu, what sort of sandwich comes to mind? VEGGIE LOVER - Lettuce, tomato, sprouts, avocado, onion, red peppers, hummus Would you expect no avocado or hummus? Because both were used only as bread-wetters for what then amounted to an $8 sandwich consisting of one piece of lettuce, a sprinkling of grated carrot, a few sprouts and shards (no, they do't even bother with thin rings of red pepper, it's awkward chunks). So when I went back to have my sandwich remade they said "well, the avocado is a spread, because it's easier" which they repeated several times as I tried to counter with "that's not what the description says" "that's not avocado" "easier doesn't mean better" and "easier isn't tastier" all of which seemed to just hit the wall of "easier" without sinking in. The pleasant staff did refund my money when we came to an impasse on what makes for a good sandwich, but I'm sad to say, three strikes and you're out.

This quaint little cafe is serving up food with some major flavor. After a morning walk we decided to stop in to Pineapple Caper Cafe for a coffee. Upon walking in, we were hit with a wave of mouth watering aromas and we decided that we had to stay and grab a bite. The cafe inside is sweet with a handful of tables and a lunch counter/bar. We perched at the bar where we were promptly greeted. I decided to try the special sandwich of the day 'The Italian.' Folks...I've never felt compelled to write a review about an Italian sandwich before but holy smokes this one is the exception. The bread was warm and soft, the meats and cheese were fresh and flavorful, and the Italian dressing was jammed full of spices and herbs. This was the perfect stop and I highly recommend a visit next time you find yourself in the area.

The inside is very small and there is usually a long line for take out. The food and smoothies are delicious which makes the wait worth it for sure. The staff is also very friendly and attentive

My first glass of vinho verde wine was served at room temperature (the second was fine), and the side plate I was given was crusted with dried food residue. I also watched an employee behind the bar wipe her nose with her hand and then continue slicing citrus barehanded. The chicken empanadas were good but not particularly special. We also had one of the small pizzas, which was the best thing of the night, crispy and flavorful (with a little char at the edges, which we like). The decor is a little bananas (different shades of green between the walls, the napkins, the barstools, and the banquettes; five kinds of lighting fixtures; lots of sound and lighting items with exposed, hasty-looking wiring). The bathroom door doesn't really close and lock properly. And the restaurant is really loud, even half full. The writing on the menu, about family members and special recipes, tells me that there's pride here and real care about making a good restaurant. However, without the attention to detail (particularly cleanliness and hygiene!), that's kind of moot. Three stars instead of two here because the pizza was good and the staff obviously care about customers.

I pictured the restaurant to be much different than it actually was. We sat in a booth in the Tavern. It was a busy weekend night and was rather loud in there from patrons at the bar. The music seemed to be primarily 70's rock. The service was excellent and waitstaff were very attentive. I had a cup of the squash bisque which was a recommendation of one of the waitstaff, sour dough rolls, and then half broiled chicken, mashed, broccoli and cranberry ginger chutney. The chicken was moist and tender and the bisque was creamy and smooth. Veg and potato were delicious also. I think the cranberry chutney would be better without the ginger as it had a strong ginger taste and cranberry would have gone better with something like orange or nuts in it. I had a glass of Berringer white zin and for dessert, the toasted almond cake. My friend had white clam chowder, scrod, with mashed and broccoli, and a molten lava cake and she enjoyed hers as well. Be sure to sit in the dining room if you go there on a weekend night because the bar is very loud. Everything was very good. My only complaint would be the loud dining area.
