My family and I had a reservation for today and they canceled me when I walked in the door. I made this reservation with plenty of time and got to confirm it on Tuesday of this week and they themselves called me Thursday to confirm too. Sunday morning comes and they call me at 10:00am to tell me I have to arrive 30 min early because they have a wedding. Ok, so we said yes. When we arrived a white rude lady came to tell me they had closed the kitchen because it was someone's special day. Someone's wedding with 180 guests.She said my day was less important!!! This was a very special day for me as I was my husband's Mother's Day present. I'm angry and very disappointed, I feel that they discriminated against my family because we are a party of 4. We visited the Falkner winery on a Monday afternoon. After being utterly spoiled at the Belvino winery, our experience at the Falkner was very mediocre. The service was slightly subpar (as compared to Bel vino) that we just picked one random wine out of the list and asked for all of our pours in one sitting so that we did not have to interact with the bar maid too much. Temecula has many wineries and almost every single one has a 2-1 coupon, some even include a tour with theirs. We were under the impression that the coupon which we had for Faulkner included the tour, as it was clearly printed on our coupon. But when we presented it we were quickly told that we were not getting a tour, no explanation was given, just a quick NO. Our 2-1 coupon allowed us 6 pours for about $10 per couple ($5 per person). I chose the 2013 Voigner, which was not bad. Very aromatic, and very crisp. I do not recommend this place to anyone that wants to learn about wine and really have a good experience. For that I recommend Belvino, which is literally down the street. read more

I suppose their reason for choosing the name "Pinnacle" for their brand and restaurant is that its situated at the top of a hill, over looking the Temecula valley. It certainly doesn't apply to their food, wine, or even service. Service was ok. I'm sure they have zero inclination to really go out of their way for the dozens of tour buses each day that dump dozens of alcohol-seeking customers. The food was the most uninspired I've eaten in a long time. Again, they're probably just wanting to accommodate the tour buses full of people wanting to stuff their stomachs to keep from getting too drunk, but I feel there's a severely missed opportunity there to create an experience worthy of a second time. Basically, The Pinnacle offers cafeteria food with a nice panoramic view. With the perfect weather of Southern California, it was also a mystery to me why the restaurant remains temperature-controlled with central air, rather than opening those beautiful windows and allowing natural breezes and fresh air in.. the air in the dining hall remains as stale as the food. In the future, I won't return to Temecula for my wine-tasting. Each winery felt like a freeway rest stop with rows of automatic wine vending instead of restrooms, even when there were actual people pouring the wine for you. I had to review the restaurant at Falkner Winery separately because I don't think the restaurant deserves the bad review that the winery itself does. If you go to http://www.temeculawines.org/ you can download a 10% off coupon for the restaurant bill. They are known for their Lobster Mac & Cheese, but the waitress told us that they were out of lobsters! They said they would substitute the lobster with either chicken or shrimp. I say... what about crab??? Oh well, I can't stand paying for mac and cheese anyways so I stayed away from it. My wife had the BLATT, which is basically a BLT with Avocado & Turkey on a croissant. The sandwich dishes also come with their seasoned fries, which are very good. I couldn't resist picking them off my wife's plate. I ordered the Gran Mamou Pasta Lousiann, which is penne pasta with chicken, artichoke hearts, black olives & sundried tomatoes. It is a very good dish (I'm a sucker for pastas with sun-dried tomatoes) and I woud've finished it if it weren't for the seasoned fries that came with my wife's sandwich. I told the waitress that it was my wife's birthday and she generously gave us a slice of the chocolate/rasberry cake. Great View, Great Food, Why only 4 stars. Well it always comes down to service doesn't it. On our trip, the quick lunch turned into a 2 hour sit fest. But the food was wonderful, tasty, and filling. The prices, not so bad. They first bring you this bread with some balsamic mustard spread. Sure, why not. It's not butter, but as long as there's a spread, slap it on me. My girlfriend and I are suckers for anything that has nuts encrusting a fish. So the Pistachio Tilapia was the definite winner. MMMMmmm was it good. Perfect amount of food. Not too drenched in sauce. My dad had the Mushroom Trio soup. He said it was good and hearty. My girlfriends mom had the Santa Barbara Salad. Wow, what a presentation. The salad came surrounded by a cucumber border like bowl. Very nice. It looked amazing too. I kind of wish I had gotten that. Unfortunately sitting by the door to the balcony, when opened, a huge rush of air would come in. The winery is on a hill, so naturally it's probably going to be windy. This should probably be locked, so that only one side opens. It's not very appealing to be eating in a warm room and then in a freezing wind tunnel. The service, well, we waited at least 20 minutes after we were all done for our plates to get cleared by anyone. They had just had a big party in there, so they were breaking down tables, but what is more important, the people there, or breaking down some tables? You should at least go attend to those people first, to make sure they don't need anything. Then finally she came, took our plates and got us our check. My experience at Pinnacle started out bad.... then got better. Thank god I got past the first impression. Walked into Pinnacle this past Saturday, around mid-day. The restaurant had open tables, the view looked amazing. The bad was the hostess who greeted us. Didn't get her name, but she had long red/brown hair. As we all walked into the restaurant, I spied two different window tables that were available against the window, with the view. I remarked to my g/f loud enough so the hostess could hear: "It would be nice to get a window seat". She ignored us and took us to a table in the middle of the room. I asked is there a reason we can't sit right over there near the window? She said that was reserved, but that the reservation would expire soon, and if we wait till then, yes. She said it with a little attitude. So I asked about the other table available near the window. She said, "Yes, but the server (mumble, mumble)." I didn't hear what she said, so I replied to her "I don't know what you just said", and she was flippant and dismissive again, "oh....nevermind, here's your table". And she sat us near the window. Why she didn't just do that when we first walked in, I have no idea. I was uncomfortable with this exchange. Honestly if both tables were reserved, we had no problem with that. But the patronizing attitude from the hostess almost made me just leave the place. It did get better after that. Our server, Michelle, was so friendly, warm, and had the greatest people skills. Michelle won us over and made us forget about the bad hostess. The view of this place is amazing. The food is pretty good. I had a good pasta chicken dish (the chicken was a little salty), but it was good. They serve the Almond Champagne from Wilson Creek down the street, good stuff. We also had a good chicken sandwich that had terrific sweet potato fries. If you want to eat lunch on a Saturday, and want to get away from all the crazy drunks hitting up the other wineries, Pinnacle Restaurant is a respite away. Great view. We made reservations here because we also wanted to check out the tasting room and the view looked lovely. We popped over after finishing the first leg of our tasting and were quickly seated at a round table next to the window. The place definitely looked like it was built to be a wedding venue...basically a big open room with windows. The windows weren't so big and wide to provide a "breathtaking" view but it was good enough. It took a while for our server to show up, during which we mulled over the pasta, salad, sandwich, burger and entree choices. Prices were probably mid-range, talking about $20-$30 a person without alcohol. We did start off with the grilled calamari appetizer which turned out to be pretty tasty...but skimpy for the price point. Or, as I reasoned, when it's not battered and fried, they look skimpier maybe?? But I felt that I could have had about 2 more orders on my own. All in all, food was average plus a smidge. Brother's gal ordered a seafood pasta and it came with pretty big portions of seafood including shrimp. I must not have read the description of my pasta (Shrimp and Asparagus Pasta under the Gluten Free menu) but at first I thought they forgot the shrimp. But then as i dug around, I saw that the shrimp had been chopped up and there wasn't very much. Brother's gal gave me a whole shrimp for which I was very appreciative. I didn't offer a sampling which is typical for when I don't think my food is super impressive. Brother got the octopus entree. Taste-wise, it was good. We all did feel the octopus was a little overcooked (mushy). Hubby got the short rib appetizer as his entree since he wasn't too hungry. The meat came in little thin strips, looked and kind of tasted like jerky. Not bad tasting, though. Food did take a while to get to us so lunch ran a little long. However, it was an okay experience with a good view. (They should probably switch to floor-to-ceiling windows or wider windows, though.) read more

Always nice to eat at this restaurant. The view is fantastic, you can see pretty far in a clear day. It has the look and feel of countryside/winery type atmosphere. Food very good, I love the steak salad, bread is fresh. They have a seafood pasta that is also very well prepared. Never had a bad meal there. I took a friend to the Pinnacle today for her birthday. We had a wonderful meal and we had wonderful service. Our waitress was Tina. She was excellent and offered some great suggestions when I asked her about wine and menu options. It was a great day out with my friend and we will for sure return for another meal there. Came in as a walk-in and I was able to get seated by the window which I may add has a beautiful view of the valley. The staff were super friendly and attentive. Jonathan was super quick to ask if I needed anything and was very informative about the wine tastings that they had. I wasn't sure on what cocktail options they had but Paloma was quick to give a varieties options on the menu and recommended the Bloody Mary which was hands down AMAZING!!! DON'T BELIEVE IN THE CHECKIN OFFER of Free Sangria, because it isn't available. Apparently Sangia is only made during the summer months, but the restaurant didn't bother to update Yelp with that fact, did they? Other than that, the food is still incredible. Our giant scallops were beyond tasty. The beef carpaccio was interesting in that the mushrooms tasted like cough medicine (and that's a compliment even though I'm such a mushroom person). Other than that, the dish was good. My steak arugula was tender and delicious and Hubby's 1/3 pounder burger was everything he wanted in a burger. Our host, a gentleman today, was a lot friendlier and asked about our wine tasting. Our server, a lady, was still sourly. In skimming a few of the other reviews, I feel like we might not have eaten at the same restaurant. Our plates at The Pinnacle were all extremely pleasing. I started with the Mushroom Trio Soup, and being a lover of mushrooms, I order mushroom soup often. I thought this was one of the best mushroom soups I've ever had! Nice big chunks of porcini, portobello, and button mushrooms in a flavorful creamy soup. It was incredibly rich. I could have eaten it alone or with a salad and the crunchy crusted bread they served; but, had to get the Lobster Mac and Cheese. Despite two very rich dishes, and possibly a inch to my waistline, I was glad I did. It was so yummy. Would have liked a few more slices of prosciutto, but the lobster was incredibly tender and plentiful. Our table also ordered the Ancho Chili Spiced Shrimp and Avocado appetizer, the Ahi Crunchy Salad and the Mahi Mahi. All the seafood was tender and the preparations were all flavorful and fresh. We agreed that we wanted to come back the next time we are in the area. I wasn't a fan of the ambiance inside the restaurant, because it looked like a big ballroom and made me feel like we were attending someone's wedding reception. It was also very loud as there was little material in the restaurant to suck up the noise. The view however was wonderful and on a less windy/cool day I would definitely choose to sit outside. Everyone seemed to enjoy their range of pasta dishes and the bread with EVOO at the beginning was quite good...could've benefitted from some extra heat though. My bacon wrapped shrimp were quite tasty, just not $25 tasty. Interestingly, some of the dish names were awfully misleading as my bro's "mac & cheese" turned out to be a simple penne pasta dish with melted cheese on top... My mom's chicken pasta dish could've used loads less oil too as the entire thing was soaked through pretty well. Thankfully, the prices were very reasonable especially given the ample portions. We stopped here for lunch and it was a great experience. The ambiance of their restaurant is great and it over looks the some of the vineyards with huge windows. The food was fantastic! I ordered the cheeseburger ( and if you've read some of my other reviews you know I know what I'm talking about when it comes to burgers) this was one of the best burgers I've had. The meat was juicy and the produce was fresh. The French Fries were scrumptious as well. The sangria is better at the restaurant versus the tasting room, not sure why, but it seems to be the way they juice the fruits. The service was great the waitress was very friendly, I wish I remember her name to give her the proper kudos she deserves. I used to live in the Central Coast and was really spoiled because I was surrounded by truly amazing wineries (and their restaurants). Since moving to SoCal I had not had a chance to check out the Temecula wineries until recently. My mother in law was in town and my husband and I wanted to take her out for a nice lunch. We went to The Pinnacle restaurant at Falkner Winery. The place was beautiful. The restaurant is built atop a 1,500 foot hill and has panoramic views.We were really excited to eat there given it's reputation - accolades for their chef (Gianni Ciciliot), their service, and food. Service: One word - Excellent! Food: The food was fantastic. Even as I write this post my mouth is salivating and wishing I was eating there right now! Everyone loved all their dishes - every single plate was left clean. I had the blacked chicken chipotle lime pasta. It was soooo yummy. Just the right touch of heat from the blacked chicken balanced out by the creaminess of the pasta sauce. Delish!!! I would definitely go back and would also recommend this place. read more

Doffo winery turned us onto the Pinnacle Restaurant and it was all they said it would be. Beautiful view, quick seating, great service, and magnificent food. My wife wanted to try the grilled octopus but did not want to get stuck with it if she didn't like it. I ordered it and she ended up eating 3/4 of my meal. Her salmon was yummy as well. And yes, their wine matches with our meal were wonderful. Price range was up there after the appetizers, meals, and of course Faulkner wine, but it was well worth it. read more

Everything that we had here for our lunch was made worse by the fact that they told us as we walked in the door that they were to be having a wedding so that we had a time limit on how long we could stay. No big deal, we thought. We can get something quick, I guess, but only because we had made the plans for the day to come here after to eat a later lunch. They could have very easily blocked off the time and said they weren't taking reservations that late in the day, and we would have made other plans. Trying to get through lunch quickly is not an easy task here. Their food takes a while to prep and cook, and that pressed us harder on time. Everything quality wise was meh. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either, and it would make sense that if I am paying $16 for a sandwich it better be REALLY good. It wasn't even above average. The fish had no flavor, their sauce on it was ok, but because the fish had no presence, it literally tasted like I was eating sauce with a bit of meat texture. My wife and I were finishing up and the server told us that we couldn't have dessert because of the time, which we weren't planning on having anyway, but then made the remark, "why'd they have to go and get married today anyway?" It was a note in our reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary, so that's how our meal was concluded besides paying $50 for a lunch that I could have had in SD for less than $20. The $20 would have probably tasted better, and the serving wouldn't have irked me. I won't be back. read more

We've dined here dozens of times over the years and have always enjoyed our meals. They change up the menu seasonally and offer monthly specials which is great as there are always new items to try. On Wine Wednesday they offer half of wines, but if you're a wine club member like us you always get half off wine! They also bring out a nice little amuse-bouche to wine club members which we always love. Our kids are 6 and 10 and they beg to go eat at Pinnacle, they love their pasta and enjoy the views of the vineyards from the air conditioned restaurant. I highly recommend Pinnacle whether for a casual lunch or a special occasion, especially in the summertime since it's indoors! read more

I am like Deanna G in that I don't understand the reason for the 3.5 star average with this place. My family and I came for lunch before tasting at the winery. We had no reservations, but were promptly seated since the place hadn't filled up yet (though it was noon on a Friday). Our server was very friendly and attentive. They had Hot Lips on special and gave each of us a little cup of it at the end of the meal. The view outside was nice. Not all of it is super scenic, but it certainly felt nice to be inside looking out over the valley on a sunny, clear day. A couple of us started with a mushroom soup special that was very well flavored and creamy. Three of us got the burger, which was a little over cooked, but all of the accompanying ingredients were excellent and made for an excellent balance of flavor and texture. My wife got the lobster mac 'n cheese, which was fantastic. It was more like pasta with a lobster cream sauce than a traditional mac 'n cheese, but it was excellent. My sister and Mom got the seared ahi salad, which both really enjoyed. Summary: Great food, nice atmosphere, pretty views, great service, reasonable prices, plenty of parking. I never expected the beautiful interior of this restaurant based on walking up on the outside. The outside is average but the inside is gorgeous! Great views of the surrounding vineyards from every table. The staff was friendly and provided great service. I love how the menu had a suggestion for a wine pairing with each item. My husband and I stopped in just for a small bite in between wine tastings. We ordered the Baked Brie. It was good however I've had better at higher-end restaurants. The Brie was a medium grade cheese and didn't have that intense flavor of really high quality ones. I would order it again, like I said it was good. The prices matched the quality.
