So I ordered food on grub hub, on new years day at around 6pm from Pit stop. Got a call back from grub hub, informing the order was "Turned down by Pit stop because Pit Stop said they were to busy". So thanks I guess? It wasn't a issue on how long it would have took to make the food, and would have happily waited for the food to be ready. Would my order have been "Turned down" if I called it in? I have been coming to this place ever since I saw them on Guy's show! It never dissapoints me. Their Brisket sandwich is tender and juicy with just the right amount of gravy and oniins! The Skirt steak sandwich is the bomb! At $10 50 it is so worth it. Succulent the medium skirt steak with provolone is to die for. The other top sandwich is the Cuban, with fresh slow cooked pork, ham and swiss. Will never compare to one from Miami but it's a close 2nd! Their soups are always fresh. I tried this at the recommendation from someone at work. I tried the cheese burger and fries on my first visit. Was good but nothing fantastic, I dont eat burgers often so when I do I am picky. Tonight the hub brought me home the grilled shrimp, scallop citrus salad...yum. it was insanely fresh. The shrimp and scallops were deliciously flavorful and perfectly grilled. The salad was Incredibly fresh ( not overly packed with lettuce just a perfect mix of mixed greens, tomatoes, sour mango pineapple in a real home made citrus dressing), not the least bit oily and super refreshing. They made this salad the right way. Going to try their Cuban next and this salad many many times again! This was our first visit and we enjoyed everything we ordered. My son had the shrimp burger and it was delicious. We are looking forward to returning and trying other items. We may try going for lunch next time and take advantage of the lunch wrap special that includes a choice of wrap, fries or soup and a beverage for $10. I saw this, like everyone else, on "Triple D." my boyfriend immediately said, "let's go try it!" I knew where it was, since I have passed by it for years, but had never actually stopped there. So we went. Personally, I don't really see why this place merited a spot on that show. My boyfriend had the cuban, which he said was bland and didn't even taste like a cuban. I had the chicken sandwich, which also really lacked flavor. The fries were the best part of the meal, which isn't saying very much since they too were quite under seasoned and just blah. All in all, none of the food was that great, and it was overpriced for what was basically fast food. Additionally, the service was VERY slow, and there were barely any available tables to sit at to eat. Neither me or my boyfriend was very impressed, definitely not impressed enough to return. All I can guess is that the person that owns this place must be related to someone affiliated with either Guy Fieri or the Triple D show. In short, this place blows. It gives all of the appearances of an old school burger joint, but it falls way flat. I tried a cheeseburger and it reminded of high school cafeteria food. We came here after finding this place on a Food Network app based off a recommendation from Guy Fieri. I ordered the Cuban panini and my friend had the roast beef, both combos. The fries were bland and were the end bits. The cheese for the cheese fries tasted like NOTHING. The Cuban was mediocre. Roast beef sandwich was bland. This place is very close to the motel we always stay at so it just made sense to try their burgers. Went to the Pit Stop on Saturday saying that I was disappointed is being nice. Got the Philly Cheese Steak wanna be. The best part of the sandwich was the square sandwich roll. I've had better Cheese Steaks at street fairs. These guys should be smacked for putting the word Philly on the menu. We should have ordered the lunch special and could have saved on ordering fries with the "hot" Cuban sandwich. The Pit Stop is great for a quick and easy bite but that doesn't mean the food is mediocre. We get a craving for the delicious, take-out style burgers a little more often than we would like to admit but boy do they hit the spot. They have a pretty extensive menu with even some nice healthy options. But me, I personally stay true to the cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, and onion with a side of fries (the fries are delicious too!) In all fairness, though, most of the "nicer" fast food places have been getting pretty pricey. Food: I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich. It was about $8 with tax (a little less) and came with no sides. The good: It was not greasy and the roll was good. The mediocre: It really had no taste. I added salt and pepper and it still had no taste. The person I was with ordered the spaghetti squash primavera. She liked it. The other person ordered a philly cheesesteak. He complained the whole time and took exception to the price for what you got and said it was "eh." Oh! I made sure I tasted a french fry that my friend ordered and I thought that was good. I was a long time customer of Pit Stop, and have noticed over the past 3 years, this place has gotten progressively worse, and this past week's experience was the final straw. We ordered food to be delivered, and gave them our credit card over the phone. A card which, mind you they've had on file for sometime.They told us the charge went through, great. Delivery boy got to our apartment building and was too stupid to read the instructions on the panel so we could buzz him in. Instead he called from his cell phone complaining "there's no way into the building, and hes' stuck in the parking lot". We had to walk him through how to dial our apt number with instructions posted that he was too lazy to read so he could come upstairs. He finally shows up to our door with a CREDIT CARD MACHINE in his hand to get an imprint of the card. When my husband questioned why he said it's policy. Well nobody told us that on the phone prior when we placed our order. When my husband DID call, the person gave him attitude stating "We've had credit card frauds before, etc" Ok, I get that, but we're REGULAR customers. They then said to my husband "well we just won't use that card anymore". Well, Pit Stop, how about we wont' be using YOU anymore so you don't have to worry about that card. We've been giving this place business for about 5-6 years now regularly, ordering from them for parties (including $130 I just spetn recently for buffalo wings for our 4th of July party), as well as sandwiches, etc. Last time we ordered from them, the delivery guy was too lazy to show our building security guard his license and called us and wanted us to meet him in the parking lot, prior to that, they asked for the security code on my sister's card when we ordered while she was visiting. I've also noticed their food quality has gotten progressively worse with soggy french fries every time, orders wrong, etc. Its' like since they were on DDD with Guy Fieri, they just decided to stop making an effort cause they got on T.V. Need a quick bite to eat? The pit stop has been around for years dishing out a mix of burgers, sandwiches & entrees. They also got some notoriety because of Guy Fieri's visit. I felt the food was mediocre, with exception of the French fries which were quite good. The seating is limited, so it's probably not the best place to bring the football team. Been here twice and both times disappointed. Tried it the second time because they had a lobster special. Its a place that hasnt found its theme or the theme is cheesy and cheap. NOT IMPRESSED After all the recent hype,I decided to give it a try after drivng by several times a week. A lunch "combo" with a Cuban sandwich was almost $15,which is crazy for lunch,but worse than that it was probably the worst Cuban sandwich I ever ate. We have always driven by and never knew what this place was all about until you know who dropped in. Guy Fieri's famouse spikey likeness is now forever embossed on the wall right above the counter. We usually go here right after hopping off the LIRR after work when we really don't feel like cooking that night and we have not yet been disappointed. My wife goes for the healthier fare...she loves the salads especially the shrimp, scallop and avocado. I tend to try anything and everything so this time around I had the fried fisherman's platter. When I first opened it the portion size didn't look enough but honestly it was plenty. It had fish, a VERY plump and crab meat filled crab cake & shrimp. I was suprisingly filled after eating it. I've even had their burgers and THOSE were really filling. One thing people have to remember is that with the wide variety of choices not everything is priced like the other fast food chains who offer so few choices. The Pit Stop offers you choices and variety and for what they offer I say they do an amazing job. For anyone wanting pretty good and pretty fast food and service and you're around the South Shore near Merrick I highly recommend you drop by. We used to love ordering from Pit Stop as there aren't a lot of places in my work area that deliver. The prices are higher than what most of the food is worth though lately and deal breaker was they now send the delivery people out with absolutely no change whatsoever.
