We do our best to stop here for breakfast whenever we are in the area. We live on the opposite side of town and always get excited for a visit. Consistently good food, and the best biscuits in town! Whether it's biscuits and gravy or butter and honey, you can't go wrong here. The food is good, but not always as hot as it could be when it gets to the table. Bacon is clearly made ahead of time and kept warm, so it's not as good as it could be. These are minor points, because the quality of the ingredients is high. We'll still be excited to eat here, but maybe they will consider upping their game in the kitchen just a little. read more

We were in the vicinity on this Sunday morning and found a few options, but Mike and Ronda's offered checking in on the yelp app before we even arrived, so this was the place we chose. This is such a convenient feature, I wish more places did this. We arrived and we were seated within a minute. The Place was bustling and somewhat loud with lots of families. Everyone in the restaurant business is in customer service, but not everyone is as friendly as the people at The Place. From the person who sat us to our server Ginger, to the people clearing the table, everyone was friendly, helpful, and seemed happy to be there. On to the food...get ready for big portion sizes. Even the water glass they bring out is large (I really like that- It is hot Az after all). I had a ham skillet ($9.75) and it was almost twice as much as I could eat- and it came with a choice of a side. I indulged and chose the biscuits and gravy- delicious. My dinner mate chose the Country Benedict ($9.25) which was more than she could eat and very tasty. Eggs were done perfectly and their gravy has a nice flavor. If you choose to start your day with a Bloody Mary, guess what? They are only $5.00. This place is a great value especially for the amount of food that you get. read more

This has been my go to place . Unfortunately the last 2 times I was there my food was lukewarm. We brought my 12-year-old granddaughter for her birthday. The waiter asked her if she wanted potatoes and eggs with her pancakes; since he asked, we figured it was all included. She said yes and it was $18.99.! Ok. I'm really NOT sure what all the hype is about with this place. First on the service. The front desk seemed more interested in their own conversations. The wait wasn't long since there were only two of us. So, about 10-15 minute wait. Our server (Brittany) wasn't too friendly, but I'm sure she had her reasons. I mean it was Good Friday and they were pretty busy. But we saw her three times (sometimes that's a good thing lol). We saw her when she took our order, gave us our ticket, and took our payment. My hubby asked if they were known for the three options waffles, french toast, or pancakes. She said a casually no and that was it as if she did not care to give us input on what to get. Review of the food: the cinnamon roll was filled with lots of frosting. So, if you like sweet stuff this is definitely for you. My husband got the french toast, eggs, and bacon. I got eggs benedict. I was so excited to try their food finally, but what a huge disappointment. The hollandaise sauce was too cheesy, the scrambled eggs were hard and burnt, the best part of our meal was the bacon. The bacon was delicious. We left there feeling glad we tried it but no need to come back. My hubby even said he wasn't sure what all the fuss was about. He's not a picky eater like I am. This "place" seems to have a sense of entitlement coming straight form the ownership, who after I spent a couple hours and the majority of the money I had to my name so that I could show my appreciation for having a place to get my affairs in order, asked me to leave the premises while I was smoking a cigarette outside their building. At first I thought he had not realized that I was a customer just moments before the interaction but he assured me that he did understand that and I had overstayed my welcome and was quite rude about it. He told me I needed to leave their property, which at that time I did and began writing this immediately. I have been coming to this establishment for nearly a decade with my own family and it is one of the first restaurants I've felt the need to visit since my recent (this week) return to Phoenix. And just to be clear, "The Place" is not concerned with the money that a customer might bring in, or how that customer takes care of their employeees because they apparently are not appreciative of the "industry types" w ho have made a career out of working in restaurants of all shapes and sizes, and thus know what it means to a server to be left a 25%+ tip, even when the check did not warrant or require hardly any service by the staff. Good job for ensuring there is a reason for everyone to BOYCOTT THE PLACE without missing the judgemental and unappreciative ownership making us (the customer) feel as if we should've gone elsewhere with our hard earned money. read more

ThePlace is tremendous for breakfast: big portions, great taste, moderately priced. 10/10 We've been 6 or so times for breakfast and it's great each time. So. We decided to try their lunch. Big mistake! The turkey melt was, imo, super small and bland. Enough Turkey for a 5 yr old doesn't cut it. $10.49 it wasn't worth half that. 5/10 if that. It just wasn't the experience I hoped for considering how great breakfast is. Overpriced sandwiches, small portions. Not a good combination. Had a party of 8 plus a baby, was told 25-30 mins. 20 mins into our wait, the hostess comes out and said it would be quite a bit longer because they had another large party before us. Meanwhile, at least 30 other people were seated. Had to use the restroom 30 minutes into our wait and noticed 2 - 6 top tables available. Asked about this and was told those were Yelp reservations! Had breakfast here on a recent Saturday morning (been a while since I've been to this location). Service and ambiance were as expected, the food was dissapointing. I lived in FLG for many years and always enjoyed the breakfast at M&R's on 66 and on Milton when they opened that location. The homestyle food was fresh and well cooked. Not so on my recent visit to this location. The diced potatoes were overcooked and dry, like they had been sitting for a while. Had an omelet and the egg tasted like skillet. The 'jalapeno cheese sauce' on the omelet was gross, could have been from a jar (or a can). The prices were ridiculous for the poor quality of the food. It was busy, but I'm not sure I'll go back any time soon. read more

I can appreciate a place that keeps it simple. You walk in, get the menu, and you can choose from breakfast or lunch and that's it. No bells and whistles. Just down home breakfasts from eggs to flap jacks and lunches with salads and sandwiches. Nice atmosphere and good service. My prime rib sandwich was nice and chewy and the horseradish sauce was a good compliment. I was in and out in about a half hour. If fast food is not your lunch of choice I would go to the Place. First time going here, went on a weekend and it was moderately busy. Got in line through yelp and only had to wait about 4 minutes in a heavy crowd of people who look like they've been waiting for a while. The flight of mimosas is really cool, fun way to mix it up a bit. Food came out rather quickly for having a full house of customers and it was fresh and really good. Definitely would recommend if you don't mind a kinda loud busy brunch atmosphere with LOTS of families. I went this to the place for breakfast as they really do have some great food. However, today was definitely an off day. I ordered my breakfast including a pumpkin muffin. After a while my breakfast came but no muffin. I asked about the muffin and was informed all they had was a corn muffin. When I asked the person who took my order about the muffin he just said 'oh, this is not my table'. Then walked away. I informed the manager just seemed pretty poor service. Apparently this place was in a tv show for dive bars and restaurants. It used to be a ma and pa type place and they moved to a bigger place after gaining popularity. I never went to the original, however, I believe they probably changed their recipes to cater to a larger crowd. Side note: their portions are HUGE. SHARE!! I wasn't too ecstatic over their breakfast. I had the meat and eggs classic breakfast with 2 over medium eggs, bacon, diced potatoes and biscuits and gravy. To start, it's hard to order over medium because some restaurants are ON IT. Unfortunately this place wasn't one one them, they didn't flip the egg so the top White was still runny. The potatoes were pretty good and of course the bacon was good. The biscuits and gravy are served separately and it's a huge large fluffy biscuit. The gravy, however, lacked a lot of flavor and seemed watery almost. Everyone else at my table seemed happy, one got the oatmeal and she said it was dry, she ordered butter and milk to make it taste better. Someone ordered the corn beef hash and had nothing negative nor positive to say. My husband had the chicken fried steak with pancakes and he ate the whole thing. Coffee was delicious. Hadn't been to The Place for breakfast for a long time. We were quickly greeted and seated at a table. After taking out drink order I got the Hungry Man Special. 3 Eggs cooked to perfection and plenty of crispy hash browns & sausage links. The biscuits (2) were huge. One is more than enough. What made our meal great was the service by our waitress. Sarah was amazing and on top of everything. She stopped by our table at least 6 times making sure all was well and if we needed any refills, etc.. Her attitude and personality really stood out. Even the busboy's service was great.
