After living near this establishment for 3 years we finally gave it a try. When we've considered dining here before we've been turned off by the line outside. Today there was no wait. The hosts seemed confused upon our entry. We were sent to a table that was already sat but quickly taken to another table. The atmosphere here is loud. There isn't much to buffer the noise. Hard wood floors and wood artwork don't do much to muffle sound. A runner and a few canvas art pieces might absorb some of that. The alcohol list was enticing but unfortunately we had to pass. Instead I ordered a coke and a water. Now I drink more soda than one should be allowed and immediately noticed something was off about their coke. It didn't taste like coke should. I mentioned this to the waitress but she couldn't care less. I drank it only because the water here is unfiltered. My wife ordered a coffee and the pot kept making its way around the dining room. For brunch I ordered the huevos rancheros with potatoes. It's was okay. They use a pork verde which was nice. Definitely needs some hot sauce because it's not spicy. My wife got the French toast with strawberries and blueberries. The crust was a bit chewy but otherwise good. Both portions were generous. The service wasn't unfriendly but also not friendly. Literally not one employee had a smile. If you're coming here for alcohol I guess I can understand. Not every breakfast joint has the selection they do. I personally would never wait for a table here when there are so many other establishments that have a similar menu. read more

Genuinely wished we made breakfast at home. $60 + tip is far too pricey for what you get here at The Place. Don't get me wrong, the service here is great. The people seem to mostly get by because it's not packed and busy, but our waitress was very sweet and she helped us with the menu. The ambiance is okay.. it's dark but it smells bad like sewage and even though it's busy it feels empty like there's no real spirit in this restaurant. I wouldn't come here again because of that alone but the food is awful and it looks worse than it tastes. As soon as my husbands "smothered burrito" was put onto the table our eyes met in horror... Cat food is what it looked like. Yikes. My eggs were so wet I felt sick attempting to pick them up with my fork as they just slid right off. Apologized to my husband for the waste of money. Normally, I have a good experience here, but this time, the potatoes were hard like they were old. I sat by the small booths by the bar, and the service was terrible. My water and coffee were never refilled. Food was okay, I went here since people raved this place was a amazing I was not as impressed. The biscuits for my biscuits and gravy were huge but super dry and not enough gravy. Also the gravy was bland. I was disappointed. Also they were so busy so be prepared for long waits, our server was super busy and kept forgetting things my side of bacon was forgotten and my husband asked for milk when his pancakes came she forgot. Busy restaurant everything we go but it's huge inside and they get you in quickly. Portion sizes are huge and you will go home with left overs. Biscuits are softball size, corn beef hash is crispy browned perfectly, pancakes are fluffy and the build your own omlette is delicious. They are open for breakfast and lunch only. Ok, in town for the day to get some suspension work on my off road toy and stopped here for breakfast. Had the chicken fried steak and eggs and, to me, best I've ever had. But that's not all...... My server, Holly, was great. She asked me if I liked spicy to which I said "of course." She brought me out the jalapeño gravy which is absolutely amazing! This place is a total hangover place. Honestly, they deserve 3 stars ONLY because the cook failed to execute half of the food properly. Had he done so, it would have been worthy of five stars for sure!! We ordered Brisket Benedict, Smothered Burrito and Chicken Fried Steak. The good: They have LOT of unique breakfast items. The Smothered Burrito was VERY good - HIGHLY recommend. The red and green salsa was actually surprising tasty! We mixed them. The hash browns were crazy good but DO NOT ask for crispy!! BURNT! The brisket was super brisket smoky and and had good flavor, but dry! The jalapeno gravy was unique and tasty, but we needed more. The dad was very happy with his chicken fried steak. The bad: I asked for crispy hash browns and they were BURNT!! I asked for eggs medium with NO runny whites and it was RAW!! Although tasty and smoky, the brisket was dry. My biscuit made noise when I cut it - it was HARD on the bottom!! Our server was low energy and "out of it" as if her boyfriend dumped her. Our server did not tell us about the specials. We later overheard another. I actually look forward to going back, but they better cook my food properly or I will not return again!! I was disappointed a little with our server "Bar", at least that's what the receipt said her name was. The food was good, not great. My biggest complaint was we ordered a cinnamon roll which was very hard. We let Bar know, she took it so I figured they would bring us a new one. After waiting ten minutes she comes back and says it was taken off of our bill. That's fine but what did we sit and wait the ten minutes before getting our check???
