Enjoy yet another evening on the back patio of The Point. The food was delicious and filling! We especially enjoyed the curry mussels perfect cooked and flavorful. The Point recently opened and is a must try! I'm predicting that this area will soon be the new hip neighborhood as things continue to be built and developed. The restaurant isn't far from the new soccer stadium. It's right on the water near the marina. There's a lot of street parking. It's in between Navy Yard and the SW waterfront/Wharf area. The restaurant is very big--there's private rooms, an indoor bar and and outdoor bar, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. It's very nice! We had dinner on the outside patio. Our server Franny was so sweet. We tried multiple appetizers but would highly recommend the crab doughnuts and mahi tostadas. The smoked wings were my least favorite, I requested for them to be crispy and they were basically burnt :/. We didn't get around to ordering dinner because we were stuffed from all the apps and drinks. I had the Muddled Mission, the Blackberry Bourbon Basil from the cocktail menu and a French 75 for drinks--the Muddled Mission was very sweet, the BBB was sweet but had a nice kick. I stopped in here after walking around the area. It does have outside seating that views the river but it's really not that outstanding. I went around 4 and they did end up seating me. It took about 5 minutes to get some water but the gentleman host brought me some and told me it was taking a bit long because the servers were still coming in and I guess shifts hadn't really started. I do see the times on Yelp it mentions 5 is opening time but didn't know that then. Honestly I was just looking for a port in the storm from the heat while exploring the area. Since it was so hot I got the Caesar salad and added chicken. It was disappointing for the $20 I was spending. The chicken was like the chicken you could easily buy in the frozen meat section of a grocery store. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Oh, for those who are still wearing masks out and feel it's important for a restaurant, the staff was not wearing masks. The restaurant should update this information to help inform patrons in making a decision to eat at their restaurant or not. read more

Tucked away in Buzzard Point, you'll find this cute and cozy seafood oasis by the water. I'm sure this will become a hit spot once the surrounding area develops more, but for now, you'll find it all by itself. The menu was limited for now, but was definitely a yummy hit. Oysters, meats, seafood, salad, sandwiches, soups, and yummy cocktails accompany the menu. Most of the dishes seem pretty healthy (salmon pictured) and portioned to not overfill you. Went on a Thursday, our table wasn't ready when we arrived and they were booked up for outdoor seating. My guests were late so I waiting 45 min for a table wasn't SO bad. We finally got seated at what I would call a chefs table bc we were right by where the food is sent out and you can see she kitchen. Outdoors looked lovely, and by the time we left we saw that they had little fire pits lit. So we'd definitely wanna visit again for that and the view. We had this gin drink which as delicious and strong. One of us has a mezcal drink but it tasted like medicine so it was sent back. One of us also ordered a regular mojito and they didn't miss. For starters we had oysters, Brussels sprouts, and the warm crab doughnuts. The Brussels sprouts were lacking seasoning BUT besides that they were tasty. The doughnuts were so good! Oozing with delicious crab dip(?). I had the pan roasted duck ends entree! The duck ends were good, has a nice char. I didnt eat much of the cabbage tho not bad either. First time visiting and will definitely be back. Tried the "crab donut" appetizer- a bit more like a mini bread bowl filled with card dip - was very tasty! The cocktails were delightful and fresh. Ordered two entrees at the table- a simple burger, which was perfectly wood fire grilled, had tremendous flavor, a great roll and delicious fries. My friend had the BBQ Shrimp and enjoyed them as well (suggestion- cut the shell along the top before cooking to make for easier peeling since the grill made the shell more brittle and prone to break into smaller pieces which was a bit messy) I didn't have room for desert but look forward to that next time. My colleagues and I visited The Point yesterday. The Point was on Point. Loved the adult beverage (punch) and the appetizers (brussel sprouts and cornbread). Great atmosphere for waterfront dining with fire rings along the bar. The Best place in all of DC to watch a Caps game from the bar. All-around 5 star experience and will be repeated regularly! Fun on the water location with an extensive inside and wonderful outdoor space with bar and ample seating! Salmon was perfectly cooked and the sauces complimented them nicely. The mushrooms were a nice visual touch but a little tough/chewy for me. Oysters were fresh, selection of 3 east coast kinds when I was there. Wellfleet is my favorite, was excited to see them! Brussels Sprouts: We ordered an appetizer of them which was a generous portion and sooo good! Well charred and sauced. Desserts: Favorites personally was the s'mores cake and praline item. The s'mores had a perfect toasted top and a gooey chocolate inside. If you are looking for a scenic date night, The Point is it! Very open concept with two bars, a private party room, and high table seating in some areas. Large parties should request the party room in advance if you want a more intimate event, as the acoustics can get very loud depending on the time of day. Food was amazing as were the drinks. Definitely recommend the crab donuts, as they did not disappoint. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Made good recommendations on the specials and drinks. The manager made his rounds to ensure everyone's food and experience was good. Definitely going back when the weather breaks for patio cocktails and appetizers. read more

Additionally, the place was quiet and just what we needed to refuel for lunch. Our waitress also recommended some sushi options that were half off. Typically, I don't like sushi but they had some cooked sushi options. I had the truffle rosemary fries with the firecracker roll. My husband got the duck confit gnocchi. Celebrated proposing here with my fiancé and her family. The appetizers were very good we got smoke wings, crab doughnuts, charbroiled oysters, curry mussels, the shrimp cocktail, and Japanese fried chicken for starters. Everyone loved the doughnuts and oysters but everything was very good. Everyone ordered different eat entrees but standouts were the beet salad, crab cakes, and fried rice. Waited for the other person in the party and was told at 615 -630 that the kitchen was backed up and they could not seat us along with others. They only offered us water or to go to the outside bar. I'm not sure why we could not be seated at our table and just order drinks. That makes sense. Any other restaurant would do this and comp. our drinks for the inconvenience. We decided to go to the outside bar which was packed because the front was sending all of the arriving patrons outside. So it was a mess. We ordered one round of drinks and soon the table was ready after 20 minutes. The char broiled oysters were small and a bit over cooked. The crab cakes were salty. The vegetables that accompanied the crab cakes were good. The donut with the crab stuffing was served as biscuits with crab. Not a donut. Seems like the kitchen is over salting and over cooking the food a bit. For the prices charged I would pass on the food and just go for the bar view. read more

I have had two experiences at the point. the first was pleasant as my first cousin was in town on a rare visit from the Deep South. I ordered a mushroom and grits dish with an herbal tea. The grits were over salted but I simply set it aside and stayed with my evening. On my second visit to the point I arrived alone at the conclusion of a challenging day of professional stuff to request the same dish but made with more attention to measurements. Before finding a seat went into the restroom to wash my hands and face to remove perspiration. it was at this point that I noticed just how unsanitary the sink area was. I brought the stains and residue on the sink surface to the attention of the front attendant to which he responded, "It's just water". I then became frightened that this lack of care was reflected in the food preparation process and to no surprise this was the case. I found a young employee preparing an oyster tray for a party. the associate was behind a bar style cabinet with the tray positionEd within range of the reach of my arm. The young employee was not wearing gloves while preparing these oysters which his was opening with a knife and discarding scraps. in the process he repeatedly touched the garbage can and even at one point completed a transaction on a digital screen being used by other employees and returned to handle the shell fish with no gloves and without having rinsed, washed or sanitized his hands. when these infractions were reported to the middle aged white male who stated he was the restaurant manager he used an extremely racist undertone to insist that all conduct in the establishment was compliant with SAFESERV pratices. Will not eat here again until management is changed and the hiring practices change to ensure employees are trained and retrained in most up to date safe food handling practices. read more

This place is terrific! The first big plus is the view. The restaurant is right on the water, which means the view--particularly when you eat outdoors, as we did--is spectacular. The other major plus is that the food is great. My group of 4 started by sharing the crab dip appetizer, which was delicious (tho very rich). For my entree, I had the fish & chips. They were excellent! The fish was light & crispy & flavorful. Some of the best fish & chips I've ever had. My husband gave his BBQ shrimp rave reviews, too. Tasty as well as a hefty portion. Great location at buzzard point and nice ambiance, both inside and out. The short rib hash was good, the salmon eggs benedict was okay. Drinks were within the range of normal for DC, but the service seemed very disorganized and slow. I never knew this place existed before I was taken here for dinner one evening. I know, what about this place screams "watch football" but the bar area has bar and booth seating that became an optimal spot for us to do just that. Well, "the point" in mentioning this is to capture the versatility of the place. It has nice indoor seating, ample bar seating and a very nice outdoor seating area. We dined during the cooler months but it was nice to see that the outside seater area with views of the water did have multiple fire pits. We ordered and appetizer then sushi which was tasty. I would definitely try this place again to try other menu items and experience the atmosphere dining outdoors. Valet parking is convenient and the staff was friendly. Interesting fact... This was my first time dining. I was apart of my friends Bachelorette party weekend. This was our first spot of the weekend. We sat in the high seating area within the bar. The bartender taking care of us was named Megan. She was nice and tried to accommodate us as best as she could. It was extremely busy, it was a Friday evening which is to be expected. The Cod sandwich was bland but not over fried. The wedding party raved about how amazing the food, service, ambiance was, etc. I am not impressed. I will come back one more time to do a video/written review. I hope my experience is better next time. The restaurant also needs more signage leading up to the water. It was a bit challenging to find. I called and sat on hold only to ask a passerby where the entrance was. This restaurant needs to work on the entire dining experience from start to finish. When we arrived and checked in, we were told that they had to "find" our table. We weren't seated until almost 8:00. The entry way was crowded & hot. We didn't get our food until almost 9:00, so this isn't the place if you're in a rush. The entrees were just mediocre. The lobster penne pasta was bland and lacked flavor. The salmon was pretty good, but was better the last time I had it. The wings were good, but you can't really go wrong with wings. Lovely restaurant right on the waterfront in SW DC. Came here for a Sunday group brunch and overall enjoyed my experience. We had the mussels, chesapeake oysters (so good omg), barbecue shrimp, and cocktails. Everything was tasty, including the drinks! If I had to give one critique it would be about the table service, we felt there was a lack of attentiveness. When I first arrived I ordered a drink from the bar while I waited for my friends....the bartender insisted on responding to me with her back turned. Very awkward. And while our group waiter was very kind, we were often left with unanswered questions and longer than normal wait times. I've been going to this place since it opened. HOWEVER, for the past six (6) months their performance has buzz at down to the ground. The last time I was there, Chef Ben prepared me their crabcake entree. YO! This has never happened to me before, but the crab was ROTTEN! 100% ROTTEN! I could tell something wasn't right when I saw it, but was like maybe this is just how their crabcake looks. Then, I tasted it and had to immediately spit it out. It was TOTALLY DISGUSTING! Sadly, this isn't the first time that The Point has served me rotten or spoiled seafood. One night I ordered the fish sandwich for pickup and the fish had such a spoiled taste that I had to ask for my money back. The cocktails here are usually mediocre. First time visiting this restaurant, after seeing many reviews on TikTok and Twitter. First off, the location is perfect - it's literally sitting on the water (Southwest, DC). Very spacious and a nice menu with various options, but not too overwhelming. I came here with my Soror to celebrate an accomplishment. We had the calamari as a shared appetizer, I had the crab cake with potatoes and asparagus (cooked to perfection!) and the Apple Hand Pie (basically an apple empanada) for a desert with came with a scoop of ice cream. The staff were great, although it appeared to be short-staffed our waiter never displayed any frustration or irritability. As odd as it sounds the crab donuts were so delicious! I mean everything was delicious but those were something out of this world. For drinks we all ordered the point punch. It was super strong. If you're a lightweight drink let me caution you. This tasted like straight alcohol, Zero punch. This place is huge inside and has plenty of outside seating. Reservations seem to go quickly so act fast. The only downside is we wanted to sit outside, the host didn't ask if we had a preference and sat us inside. So we asked if it was possible to sit outside. We could clearly see that there were available tables. They said they would check but never did. Parking is literally in the same building. I took my mom here for a mother-daughter lunch date. Pro: (1) Outside seating with a decent enough water view; (2) Nice looking restaurant; and (3) We had friendly enough customer service. Cons: (1) The food was mediocre at best; and (2) The price is high for how mediocre the food is. My mom had the caesar salad with salmon. She said the salad was "ok," but was drenched in dressing, which is why she didn't finish it. I ordered the crab donuts as an appetizer. I would NEVER order them again. I don't understand how they are even on the menu. Not sure if I had a bad batch, but geez they were terrible. My mom took a bite and couldn't even finish it. She had to spit it out. I had the crab cakes. About $60 and not worth it. They were not gross, but they were absolutely nothing special and a bit too "wet." You can get way better crab cakes for less at other high-end restaurants like Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab. I will say, though, the asparagus that came with the crab cakes was pretty good. This is a hidden gem tucked behind an apartment complex that sits on the water by a marina, so you constantly see boats coming and going. Ambiance and decor is very cute and the food was tasty. I don't know where to start. So I initially read reviews that the parking was 50 bucks. So we parked in the parking garage because it said 2-3 hours with validation was 20 bucks. Welp even with validation and staying under three hours... still 50 bucks. We wanted to check out happy hour before our meal ... the people at the bar totally ignored us. So we decided to go sit at our table early to hopefully get better service. Well happy hour is only offered at the bar more bs, our waiter was overworked... the food was expensive and basic as hell. Alcoholic drink- watered down an no flavor. They added an operating fee to our bill due to inflation. So I gotta pay for you to operate? The views were nice but I wouldn't return. I walked in to the hostesses making fun of my name. I let them know that it was me they were talking about and that I just wanted to be seated (visibly annoyed and uncomfortable). One hostess blurted "what you say" ( not exaggerating), so I repeated myself. She responded "oh, I thought you was trying to be funny". The other hostess laughed and asked if what they found so comical was my real name and said "that's special". Completely unacceptable. I felt unsafe and uncomfortable. This place needs a serious DEI make over. My name is odd. I get it. But professionalism exist. This is a diverse city. Everyone isnt going to be named Linda. My issue is: why would you try to fight me because you offended me and I wasn't afraid to show it? I hope those hostesses don't offend or threaten anyone else. It's a lawsuit waiting to happen.
