Buzzard Point's newest culinary treasure! Overlooking the river and just a stones throw from National's stadium, The Point is bound to become a hot spot. The views are gorgeous, the décor is upscale-chic, and the outdoor seating area/bar a cozy gathering place. We visited for dinner right after they opened in Spring 2021. Although our experience with the host staff was initially disappointing, our evening was rescued by the manager. Wes more than made up for any confusion with the staff by seating us himself, fast tracking our order, and stopping by several times to chat with us. And the food at The Point is amazing!!! Their calamari is deliciously different than what you've had before. The scallops were perfectly cooked and the taste ranked top 5 GOAT. We were so happy with dinner that we ordered dessert. The S'mores pleasantly surprised us with how light they were while still packing a ton of sweet dessertness. A perfect end to a memorable outing. We will be back soon and often! read more

We were so excited to try this new place after all the hype, but it was quite the let down! We had oysters, calamari, and I had the duck burnt ends. Oysters were fine, nothing special. I really do not understand the reviews on here regarding how the calamari is "something different than you've had before." It was regular ole calamari. Yes, it was crispy, but compared to the super fresh calamari I had a few nights prior at Caruso's Grocery, it was purely overhyped. Unfortunately, the same goes for the duck burnt ends. The dish was just one note and really disappointing. In fact, I just had my leftovers, hoping that I would be pleasantly surprised, but that was not the case. For $32, I expect a little more than medium well duck breast. The drinks were fine, but again, nothing special. This is a place you go to for the view and environment. Sadly, it was raining when we went so we were left with mediocre food. I gave this review 2 stars, not taking into account the service, which was really quite bad. Took forever for our server to even come by the table (or even get any water to the table!). Drinks took forever, coming out after our appetizers arrived (no one wants that). Said drinks were also spilled by the server all over the table. It took a few minutes to get some paper napkins and then we cleaned the table ourselves. I mean, come on! If you're going to charge me $15 a drink, at least clean it up when you spill it all over. Oye. I assume the bad service is a result of the pandemic/being newly opened, but geez, I hope they get it together soon. It's ok. Had high expectations being on the water in DC. The food was a step up from bar food. Not terrible. Not great. High price point for what it was. Cocktails also just ok. The patio and view are very nice. Seating canned. We kept getting bumped into while eating which was annoying. And it is a hike from the metro. I wanted to love this place, but the service is not great after your seated. Hardly any one was there at noon. Our waitress would disappear for long periods. Empty water. Once my husband got his own drink. We spent over 400 and the food was just ok. The service should be 5*for the price. Oh well! I would recommend maybe happy hour for drinks. Food is not good enough to brunch there. Beautiful view though and very clean restroom. I just come from a winery background and I personally would have said oh wine your going to have wine let me offer you this. We all had diff wines. Aesthetically, this place is very nice. It's way bigger than I expected and has plenty of room for seating. As far as service, we didn't get a good first impression. From the moment we arrived there was a line for check in so it took almost 10 minutes for us to be seated. Our waiter wasn't that friendly at first and kept taking her mask down to talk to us, which clearly defeats the purpose of the mask. I noticed this with a handful of other staff just not wearing their masks correctly. But after a while, the staff became more attentive as the night went on. The food menu was pretty impressive and very appealing. The appetizers menu had a lot of variety, as did the wood grill menu. Unfortunately they were out of some menu items and it was only 6pm. We had the crab donuts and roasted oysters. I had the fried branzino which was amazing and my dad had the short ribs. Overall the food was really good, I give it a solid 8/10. I'll probably be back some time in the future, but the location of the restaurant isn't all that inviting. It's basically a stand alone establishment with nothing else within immediate walking distance. Maybe some time soon as the area grows, so too will the retail/dining spaces. read more

We decided to get reservations at The Point after trying to come here a few times but it was packed so we couldn't get in. Got in and with a reservation, it's still a first-come-first-serve outdoor patio situation. The very polite staff informed us it would be a half hour wait for the patio and we were hungry, so we decided to sit inside. There are all sorts of tables in the very big restaurant, from big booths where you can spread out to more intimate tables, with a very nice atmosphere and decor. I could see why people were waiting for the patio tables outside, it's absolutely gorgeous! Right on the river with boats docked nearby and ducks and geese flying around. The Point was participating in Restaurant Week, and even though we only got one portion to share with a side, it was plenty of food for us. We got the pork chop entree, chicken wings appetizer, and coconut cake, and they were all AMAZING! The cocktails were absolutely amazing too and the service was second to none! I mean, geez guys, you're allowed to have one doozy/mulligan but there literally was none. At night, the patio seems to be a very upscale place to meet people too. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and they have a good mix of food options! I ordered the shrimp pappardelle pasta, lemonade and lobster bisque soup it was $70 including tax, tip and their fees. Although there was no indication from the menu description, the pasta was way too spicy for me so I left hungry. The location is near the Nationals Stadium. It is best to find street parking because the garage next to it is $50 with the restaurant discount. Maybe I'll try again in the day time... read more

Came here with my wife and her best friend. The view was superb, the food was not. I had the salmon which was over-salted and generally not seasoned well and over cooked. My wife had the stuffed rockfish which was underwhelming. I also had an appetizer of smoked wings which were pretty tasteless but came with a sauce that I put on my salmon to make it have some taste. Do not recommend based on the food and $$$; view is spectacular although there are plenty of restaurants with both a great view as well as great food. read more

Had to wait long periods of times for the server to check on us or anything until we had an issue with our food but had a good attitude and was pleasant. The drinks were very good though. I recently went to this restaurant Sunday night. I ordered French fries, shrimp fried rice and my guest ordered sushi and seafood risotto. The shrimp fried rice was the worst I have ever had. Placed a simple order for two Caesar salads & two orders of the fish & chips. The staff has never been very friendly so I usually order to-go. The total was nearly $100 for what seems like a side salad & exactly THREE [mediocre at best] fish nuggets. Not really much to say beyond that. My husband and I came to visit the NDU and we were recommended to try The Point conveniently located just next to the campus. We were seated outside because the weather was beautiful and the view was lovely. The restaurant is located on the point (see what they did there) where the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers come together. Every dish we had was excellent and had an element of going above and beyond standard issue. The sushi I had was a unique flavor and my husband's braised short rib was phenomenal. The brussel sprouts were wonderful and have little crisps on them that added that textural component that put them over the top. Our server was very attentive even though we were the only patrons seated outside in this particular section. I am definitely going again for a special occasion. read more

My friends and I visited this location for a birthday dinner last night. The experience was horrible from the time of entry. We were sat in the very back of the restaurant, the waiters was rude, multiple waiters were sent to our table, the food was terrible, and the managers watched us the entire time we were there. We had to send our food back several times. The food was overcooked or undercooked. As a young adult I find this very disturbing and not a great experience for a college student on spring break. I read the reviews and even looked at the menu online, thinking this is going to be a wonderful experience. It wasn't. I felt less like a customer and more like a theft. Had dinner here during our short trip to DC and the food is good. Crab donuts are pretty heavy but really tasty. You cannot go wrong w smoke fish board if you're a seafood person. We also got crab cakes. Bit pricey ($50) though I have to say it's worth the price. The apple pie (more like apple empanadas) is a great way to end the meal. The reason I gave 4 stars is because a) the service is just ok, and b) this place is really far/not easy to get to. We could have gotten equally good food at The Wharf which is a far more exciting area esp for those visiting DC. read more

Second time I've been to the Point. Both times the food was good but I was hesitant to return again due to extremely poor service during my first visit. I can understand that some places may have off nights, people call out sick, etc. so I decided to give them another try. I wish I hadn't. Service was slow once again and getting any request like new silverware or a refill of water felt like pulling teeth. I ordered the whole lobster which arrived without any means of cracking the claws. When I asked the waiter, he informed me the kitchen was out of crackers. For a $160 dish, I'd expect at the very least to be able to eat my meal. Will not be returning and I will encourage anyone who values good service at a premium-priced restaurant to do the same. read more

I'm not sure If we caught them on a bad night but the food was mediocre to say the least & this particular night the service was HORRIBLE. Nobody even greeted our table until about 30 minutes of us sitting there. Drinks were good so shoutout to the bartender! We never actually met our server & was actually served by the manager who we found out she was at the end of our dinner because I asked for [the manager.] Whether our server was available or not, nobody was attentive to our table, we were served as a when we can table. The is becoming one of my favorite places in the city. The views from the outdoor bar and seating is beautiful. The drinks are great - I love the Black Bourbon Smash and Mecca is my fave bartender. The last time I went I tried the crab cake sandwich, Brussels sprouts, and oysters. We took the apple pies to go. All delicious. This is a perfect spot for the spring and summer. read more

The food is definitely mediocre. I'm a food vlogger, I know my stuff. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant is very pretty...but once you get your food it's just like, huh? They also don't use gloves in the kitchen where the chefs are cooking. I get it, a lot of places don't. But when you have the kitchen area exposed for customers to see, I feel like they should practice some sort of cleanliness. I didn't witness any chef wash their hands the entire time I was seated. And they use their hands to sprinkle garnishing around your plate. They also use their hands to organize the food on your plate for plating. Ew. They don't use utensils for that? Yea, idk. This place has a lot of potential but the prices are really high and the food wasn't very good. First, location and atmosphere is nice. Great views of the Potomac. We ordered wings, the cod sandwich and the braised short ribs. To be honest, most of the food tasted reheated. It didn't appear that anything we ate that day was made fresh. The house smoked jerk wings were dry and over cooked. The crispy cod sandwich was dry and the fries were stale. The braised beef short rib was cold. I had to send it back and I told the staff that it's as if the short rib was taken out of the fridge and microwaved. The meat was stiff and barely separated when we put the fork and knife in it. When they resent a new dish the short rib was much warmer but I still feel as if the food was refrigerated (aka leftovers). Other than that, the dish was pretty good. I think the best part of the meal was the watermelon margarita and the customer service. For the price, I can spend my money better elsewhere. I won't be coming back. read more
