Just an Average Breakfast Spot Country Cafe Visited: May 9, 2026 Stopped in for breakfast and overall it was an average experience at best. The service was adequate and the staff was polite enough, but the food didn't really stand out. I ordered the BLT with fries ($15.65), and honestly the sandwich was on the small side with very little bacon on it. The bacon itself was cold and tasted like it had been sitting out for a while before being served. The oatmeal and toast ($8.50) and drinks were fine, but nothing memorable. Prices were: * BLT with fries - $15.65 * Oatmeal and toast - $8.50 * Hot chocolate - $2.95 * Dr Pepper - $2.95 Total for two people came out to $32.38 before tip. Plenty of parking as it's in a shopping center with lots of other businesess Food: Chilaquiles with pulled pork were very tangy. The chips themselves were perfectly crispy. Although they say not spicy, they are actually a bit spicier than that. Chocolate Chip Banana Pancakes were really yummy. They slice bananas and place them into the batter so they're fully whole throughout the pancakes. Perfect balance of the sweetness of bananas to the chocolate chips. Been to this spot several times, and I always have a good experience when I'm there. There is typically some wait time to get seated, but there's a booth available to wait at. The service is good, the wait staff are polite and seem like they're always on the move. There are booths and smaller tables inside, and a handful of outdoor seating options that are covered with parasols. Out of all the times I've been here, I've never had an issue with the food. I mainly get the breakfast options like the eggs Benedict, pancakes, waffle combo, crepes, and best of all the sirloin. Everything is cooked to perfection, nothing is under or over, and it's the right level of crisp. The home fries/hashbrowns are soooo good. The idyllic potato side for breakfast. My latest choice was the sirloin steak and I can definitely attest to it - juicy, a nice medium rare with a bit of fat to add flavor. Only gripe was that the side of A1 sauce they gave me wasn't enough, and it wasn't ideal calling them over for more. Prices are fine, not too crazy. I think for 3 people with drinks, it was around $60 after tip and tax. Good for a brunch spot - they do close a bit earlier so it's smart to check the times. Overall a great spot! Wanted to try a local small business. Quite a few patrons were inside for a rainy, Thursday morning. Cute ambiance inside and out. Service was fast. We sat in the middle so we couldn't see the "specials" that were posted in the booths, nor were they told to us. Food was average. Pricey for what we ordered but what place isn't when eating out? When my mother-in-law comes down from LA to have breakfast/brunch with us, this is the ONLY spot that she wants to go to. Our visits are usually mid-morning so that most of my house can sleep in a little bit on the weekend. Our last visit here was Saturday morning (11/8) around 10:30am. There were about 4 parties ahead of us but our wait time was about 10-15 minutes. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. We opted for indoor. They sat our party of five at a booth in the back of the restaurant. They offered us an additional chair but we made it work comfortably in the booth. The only issue was after we had all ordered, we were playing Tetris to get our plates and cups to fit...which is definitely a good problem to have. I decided to give the vanilla chai a try this time around instead of my usual coffee. I was NOT disappointed with this decision. It was so delicious. Everyone's food came out piping hot and didn't seem like any of the plates had been sitting there for a while waiting for the others to be finished. I will ALWAYS recommend that upgrade to spuds with your breakfast and their jam is made in-house so I'm pretty sure the special ingredient is love. We were jamming to some island jams while enjoying some great customer service and delicious food. We always enjoy stopping into Country Cafe for a great breakfast and usually enough leftovers for a 2nd breakfast. read more

Wanted to try a good breakfast place in the area and I'm so glad I picked Country Cafe! We went around 9am and only waited 5 minutes for a booth. Service was very good and staff very friendly. We ordered Popeye omelet, French toast and biscuit and gravy. They have indoor area with booths and takes and also an outside area. I would recommend it as a solid breakfast spot! I passed this place so many times and thought I'd finally stop and give this it a try. First this place is super cute from the wallpaper to the nostalgic items used to decorate the green walls, it really does look like a cute country kitchen. There are a few tables outside The servers, while not overly friendly, were nice enough. I was not very hungry, so I just ordered coffee, one scrambled egg, and white toast. The food came out fast, so I couldn't figure out how my egg was cold--perhaps it sat waiting for the toast to be done? It had a weird taste and I wasn't a fan. This place was full, with every table taken and one party waiting for a table when I was leaving, so I'm thinking my experience is not the norm. Clearly people like this place. Will I be back? So disappointed. First and last time at Country Cafe. Our server seemed rushed every time she came to our table, would just drop the item (not even fully stopped at our table, more like a drive by) and walk away. It was not that busy. There were plenty of open tables so her rush didn't seem justified to me. Then I ordered the breakfast burrito. As soon as I picked it up, a literal PUDDLE of oil, grease, whatever it was, was under my burrito. My hands were covered in oil or grease. It was just an egg, cheese and sausage burrito, why so much oil on my plate??? I moved on to the pancakes my husband was going to share with me and I noticed there was a hair in the pancake. But not even human hair, it looked like a cat or dog because it was short and two toned. Overall, besides those issues, the entirety of the food was below mid. We really enjoy Country Cafe. Food is solid and service is always great - srsly, the staff HUSTLES. Our fam usually orders an egg and bacon combo with home fries and toast. Portions are generous and we sometimes ask for half bacon and half sausage since you get 4 pieces. Hubby enjoys the banana pancakes. The pancakes are ginormous - pretty much the diameter of the plate. I don't know why but the wheat toast here is amazeballs. I like toast in general, but it is so good here. Freshly made, perfectly toasty served with whipped butter and house-made strawberry jam. I'm pretty sure that this resto is one of a handful that are open and started by the same man. He then either has family run the resto once it's established or sells it to open a new place. He def has the formula for success. The menus at each location are identical. This is a split review. I'm a 2, Wife's a 4.5 (yep, we ate at the same place, same time!). My 2 is not because the place sucked. It was just OK. I have to want to come back to a place to get to a 3. I had the California Spuds and a waffle (too much for a comfortable single meal, btw). The taters were pan cooked, with some cheese, avocado, and sour cream sort of plopped on like an afterthought; not horrible after adding some Cholula for flavor. The waffle was pretty good (syrup seemed like some knockoff pseudo-maple, but OK for the price level). Wife had the JSM omelet (Jack, Sausage, Mushroom) and enjoyed it quite a bit. Ambiance is basic Americana; clean and tidy, and a bit worn with age. Music tended towards mild Reggae, upbeat and positive if a tad intrusive in volume (not too bad in these eardrum-busting days of dining out). Service was more or less indifferent but efficient. Plenty of open lot parking. One major plus to the place, at least at non-peak (9:30AM): the food was out very, very fast. And I'll say this: it's on the same lot as an IHOP, but we would go back to Country Cafe again before wasting the $$ and Calories on IHOP. We dropped $56 for two people, including tip. read more

It's a very nice establishment with a mom and pop feel there is a little bit of a weight. I got the French toast combo and my fiancé got the pancake combo. We sat ouside of course and a young man sat us down and a young waitress in her 20s probably took outr order. May I said something wrong. I cannot recall doing anything wrong. BB and I were visiting my parents in Cypress and us two decided to get brunch at this spot (Mom and Dad eat too early for us). BB loved the decor, it feels like a rustic little cozy country cafe, just like its namesake. As far as I am concerned, I could care less about the ambience, and judge mainly on food taste/quality, service, and cost. Country Cafe hit the mark on all 3 of those metrics. The popeye omelette I had was fresh and delicious, along with the home fries and biscuit/gravy. BB really enjoyed her pumpkin pancake combo, and the addition of pumpkin spice butter was a nice touch. We had a waitress who was on the older side and she was very kind and provided excellent service, keeping our coffee refilled and we never had to wave her down for anything. This cafe is located in a plaza with a huge parking lot, so parking is eazy peazy. My older brother told me that I should have invited him and his wife too when he found out we went here! Country Cafe is a super cozy classic American breakfast spot. I came on Tuesday around 11am and the restaurant was nearly full. The servers are attentive and check in when they can, but they can also get super busy with other diners. We ordered: Hobo omelet 10/10: Perfectly cooked omelet and the home fries are fantastic; it's like a hash brown with sliced potatoes instead. It's a large portion and it also comes with your choice of toast! Nutella crepe, banana and strawberry 9/10: Comes with two crepes and a good amount of toppings. It hit the spot, but it would've been nice if there was filling inside the crepes as well. This place is just ok. If this place is country, it's the waxy veneer type of country where everything looks like it could be country style but everything is too shiny. As someone who has been to numerous country kitchens in Texas and the south, places like shouldn't so much shine to them. Starting with food, it's as I said before, just OK. It's not bad, but it's also not good. It's middle of the road edible which if I was driving on a long highway through the middle of the south, would probably be a welcome thing, but being in Cerritos, there are better options nearby. The pancakes were over-mixed and rubbery. The waffle was crispy but had almost no flavor. The eggs were pale yellow and runny, and the sausage was barely cooked, enough to be warm, but limp and lacking in flavor. The service and ambiance is where this falls apart for me. First, for a country kitchen to have a staff that barely looks at you, doesn't smile, and doesn't bother to greet you or send you off warmly; that's definitely not Southern hospitality. When I took a look at all the curios and nostalgic decorations, I noticed not a single bit of patina in anything. It looks like someone went to Home Goods and bought everything that looks kinda country (and then stuffed it on the wall shelves. There's nothing on the walls that's older than a few years, and I wouldn't doubt some of it still has a TJ Maxx sticker on the bottom. Also, and this was nearly a deal breaker, but no grits! Probably further nest because they probably would be under or over cooked. In short, you can call yourself country all you want, but just like Little Nas X, that doesn't make it so. read more

Everything I've tried has been delicious and fills me up. I enjoyed the egg Benedicts and Breakfast Delights menu. My family enjoys the omelets and pancakes, especially the granola pancakes. I always have to get the home fries with any of the breakfast plates. I love the crispy and the tender pieces of the seasoned potatoes. The service and staff are friendly and attentive. They always ensure my coffee is topped off and hot and orders are prepared promptly. Dining here feels like a hometown diner, with a relaxed atmosphere and the decor and music to complement.
