Almond latte and earl grey financier
    Debbie W.

I haven't really visited any cafe since the pandemic started. Sitting in a room with full of strangers doesn't make me feel comfortable. However, with the introduction of the vaccine passport, I feel a little bit safer. This new place resides in the heart of the Olympic village. The location is very central, right beside a little park among all the residential condos. Parking is definitely an issue as there's no free parking around, but it's only 50 cents for half an hour which makes it really affordable, if you can find a spot. I love the open concept of the whole place, lots of natural lighting and makes the whole room very bright. They social distanced the whole seating area, and people have the option to sit apart or takeout. I ordered an almond latte and an early grey financier pastry. I have to say, the latte is just the right temperature! It's not too hot, which makes me very impressed with their barista. The latte is creamy with a hint of almond, and you can still taste the bitterness of the coffee. The earl grey financier is just delicious! It's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with lots of almonds coating. It's not too sweet which is just to my liking. I haven't had such good pastry for a while! And you can taste the freshness, knowing it's made in house! Their staff are friendly and professional. The decor is very com temporary with cute little details. I'll definitely come back to this place next time when I'm around the neighborhood.

The Veggie Daily sandwich is delectable. Strawberry frappe is fresh and creamy for a warm day. Breakfast daily sandwich (salty processes cheese) and apple turnover (dry and little filling) were mediocre. Great open space with big windows to catch up with a friend. I would come back to try their coffee and other frappes.

The Press Room should be everyone's fav coffee shop. Looking for a WFH location? The Press Room. Study spot? The Press Room. Coffee chat? The Press Room. I ordered the Breakfast Cup, London Fog Latte, and Americano. It was only after I ate half the pastry I realized I forgot to take a photo - a true testament to its goodness. The Breakfast Cup is filled with bacon, eggs, and cheese. It's light and fluffy, and will definitely make your breakfast 10x better. The London Fog is a classic and their Americano will have you coming back for more - a thousand times over. So please, take a minute to visit The Press Room you will be pleased. xx Ren

Had a great experience at the Press Room. It's a fairly new cafe in Olympic Village and it has a really cute and cozy interior with lots of tables. I would've liked to dine in but I still had a class to attend so I just got my complimentary pastry and beverage to go. The guy who served me was really friendly and accommodating. I was taking a long time to decide on which pastry to get but he didn't make me feel rushed or anything. He even offered to heat up my pastry without me asking :) I ended up getting the chocolate croissant! It was flaky and had a good amount of chocolate filling. As for my drink, I saw other reviewers talking about the Spanish Latte so that piqued my interest and I decided to get it too. It was my first time trying it and I really liked it! It wasn't too sweet for me either. It's essentially a latte but it's made of both regular milk and condensed milk. I highly recommend trying this one! Thank you to Eric and the Press Room staff for this event!

Got invited by yelp to try this and the place was amazingly chill and good place to study. Tried the hazelnut mocha frappe and almond croisant and they were both great. I would be keep coming back and recommended to study and chill here. Cheers!

Great little coffee shop in Olympic village. Friendly staff and full assortment of baked good to choose from. Stopped in for a snack. Staff was closing up and is the ad of wasting coffee. They offered me a free cup! Very impressed. Will return.

There is a mouse in the cafe. Everyone left due to it. The staff didn't seem to care.

I was meeting a friend here yesterday who's visiting from California, and when deciding on a meeting place, we realized a bunch of the Gastown coffee roaster places were closed on Sunday, so I mentioned Breka , knowing it was opened 24/7. (LOVE this!). Plus, this site is close to Waterfront Station, and my friend had a busy day planned, taking the Seabus to N.Van and doing a lot of sightseeing. So this Breka was perfect. I was there early at 10 am-ish, and from the outset, I was impressed: exposed brick wall, long counter and display case, fully stocked with the most beautiful pastries and tarts and cakes, and lovely looking sandwiches, too....Just lovely. I ordered a tea from the guy taking the orders. At the check-out, the woman working the cashier was the most unfriendly, aloof person I have ever encountered at a Breka. She was downright dour. Never looked up, never smiled, said I owed X for the tea I ordered, gave me a receipt and said I was "number 3", no "thank you" (despite my saying thanks!), nothing. She looked really unhappy and bothered to be there. (I sat at a nearby table, waiting for my number to be called. I saw her interactions with all the people behind me - and there were quite a few, as it got suddenly busy in the cafe. She was cold and unfriendly to everyone in line as she rang them all up. These are mostly tourists! Why have a dour, borderline-hostile woman at the check-out counter of a busy cafe in a touristy part of our city? I just don't get it). Anyhow, I waited 10 minutes to hear my number called, but I never heard it. I walked up to the take-out area and there was my tea, on a receipt that said "number 3". Did they call out my number? I honestly don't know. I was seated at a table a few feet from the area and listening for my number and I didn't hear it called. I was not impressed with this set-up. Not at all. My friend arrived and got a chocolate concoction which looked amazing, and he loved it, so there's that. I still love Brekas but I probably won't return to this site. Between the cold experience at the cash and the prolonged waiting for my order (a cup of tea!), and not being sure if my order number was ever called, it just all left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.
