The pastries here are so so good. It's hard to settle for just one! My favorite to order is the double baked almond croissant. I find any of their vienese pastries never disappoint. They have quite a selection of other fancy petite cakes, tarts and cookie. The staff are very knowledgeable and courteous. They are patient when you feeling indecisive. My latest favorite is the lemon scroll. The ambiance is mostly take out since seating is limited at the Fir St location and there is no seating at their downtown bakery cafe. Coffee and tea selections available. Price is reasonable for the excellent quality and the generous size of some of their pastries. Their goodies sell out fast at the downtown location. I visited beaucoup bakery to try their Asian heritage month special baking goods. What I tried: Curry fish ball focaccia Curry and onion infused focaccia topped with Gruyere and Hong Kong style curry fish balls Ginger milk & sesame rice ball egg tart Ginger infused custard and sesame rice balls baked in butter croissant pastry. Curry fish ball focaccia was a very unique item. The focaccia dough had very chewy and soft texture, curry flavor was strong which I really liked. Fish ball was decent and surprisingly paired with this focaccia dough and gruyere cheese on top. I really liked this item. Egg tart was decent. Pastry dough was flaky and large, custard and sesame rice ball filling provided chewy mochi texture. I liked this item, too. They always offer very creative and unique flavor's combination. Great pastries here. I am a fan of croissants. I got the reuben croissant to try. It was sweet and savory at the same time. I really liked how flaky it was. The pickle was a nice touch on top. The top layer of the croissant must have brushed with something to keep it crispy and shiny on top. Overall, great pastry. I highly recommend coming here if you have never been. I found this gem when I was visiting Vancouver in April. They have two locations one on Fir St. and the other on Dunsmuir St. The location I visited was Dunsmuir St., next to the St. Regis Hotel. They are open 7am-5pm Monday - Friday and 8am-5pm Saturday & Sunday. There is no parking lot or street parking that I am aware of at this location. Beaucoup specializes in French pastries and I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. When I asked for recommendations, customers as well as the staff suggested I try a Kouign Amann. Kouign Amann is a buttery layered croissant that is caramelized with a touch of sea salt. It was my first time trying this pastry and it was life changing, I am still thinking about it LOL. The outside was perfectly crunchy, the inside was soft buttery and it had just the right amount of sweetness. Other pastries I tried while there were the Pistachio Croissant and a regular croissant which were all exceptionally delicious. They also serve a variety of drinks. I tried a Cortado and caramel latte both made with Almond milk. I have no complaints about either. Both drinks were everything you would want from an espresso drink, flavorful and balanced. If you are in Vancouver I would definitely recommend putting them on your bucket list to stop by and try. read more

Found this gem while I was visiting Vancouver last year and had the best croissants! So whenever I am visiting Vancouver, I have to stop here to get my coffee and croissants. This is a cute French coffee and bakery shop. A close walk from the hotel I was staying at and not sketchy at all. Service was fast and attentive. Got my coffee right away. I tried the buttery crossiant, pistachio crossiant and the almond croissant. Loved all of them. The croissants are not your average size. They are crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. I went here on November 4th just for some coffee and a snack. I was glad to find this place in downtown while strolling around this neighborhood. Beaucoup Bakery is a small cafe, but the interior is clean and beautiful with small seating spaces. I tried Gholish Croissant ($6.75) with Iced Americano ($4.50). Gholish Croissant was crunchy with light sweetness. I was glad it wasn't too sweet for my liking. Iced Americano was good as well. They tend to close sooner than most places. Staff would remind customers they'll close at 5PM. Luckily the cafe opened a bit past 5PM, but I rushed to eat so staff can close the store. Staff were helpful and friendly. read more

Beaucoup makes classic French pastries as well as unique fusion creations. The baked goods are mostly Viennoiseries and cakes, but there are a few others including creative seasonal specials. The double baked croissants are out of this world, especially the pistachio croissant. It's stuffed with the most delicious pistachio marzipan, with a rose petal garnish. They brush the inside with a sugar syrup (I think) before the second bake which makes them kind of wet when you bite into them which I don't really like, but it's worth it for the goodness that is otherwise these croissants. I have yet to be let down by any of the baked goods here. Right now the Lunar New Year collection is on with Chinese fusion pastries - the cocktail bun scroll and prosperity knot (taro paste and custard inside) are highly recommended if you like Chinese pastries! Besides baked goods, they have excellent tea and coffee and a very small lunch menu. There are a variety of tea lattes, which are made from high-quality ground tea, which makes them strong. The lunch offerings are called sandwiches, but they're served open-face on top of a croissant base to eat with a fork and knife, so there's not much actual resemblance to a sandwich. That being said, the smoked salmon "sandwich" made a delicious light lunch - the flaky pastry with the herby cream cheese was a nice combination. The atmosphere is so nice! The cafe is elegantly designed evoking a French bakery. There's high top tables, window counters, a few outside tables, and a counter facing the coffee bar if you like watching the baristas work. The baristas are generally very nice. Most seats have outlets. I wouldn't recommend this place for extended working because it's small and usually pretty busy, but it's a cute place for a quick meetup or me-time. read more

I had previously only been to the location on Fir Street, and I didn't realize they had a location at the St. Regis downtown. It has a slightly smaller selection of pasties and was sold out of some things by 10:30am on a Sunday morning. We just got a kouign amann and a pain au chocolat. The KA was on the denser side but still flaky and had the nice addition of salt on top. The pain au chocolat was generously sized. The setting is really nice, and they have a good amount of seating. Really cute place with a sweet interior. The music is louder than average but you can still hold a conversation comfortably. The service was quick. I came with a friend for the hot chocolate festival. It was on the colder side (I assume because of the cream) and I wish it was warmer. The hot chocolate's pretty good otherwise. I like that it isn't too sweet. The cookie was decent but nothing special. I did see the pain au chocolat is bigger than my face so I'd be keen to come back and try that. Only for $5! read more

I think this is one of the best bakeries in Dunsmuir. Small coffee place, but they have a great menu. My favourite food is the ham and cheese scroll croissant it is so yummy and if you get a macchiato will be a perfect combination. The desserts are good I do like the pistachio croissant (I particularly see that as a dessert) and the chocolate mousse was divine. Their customer service is friendly and welcoming. Sweet little French Bakery located right by the hotel I stayed at in Downtown Vancouver...it is tiny and cozy and just lovely. We had a few hours before we had to head to the airport to fly home so we decided to stop by for a pastry. We went with the Pan Au Chocolat. It was the most buttery, flaky pastry I've ever had in my life but was hoping there would be a bit more chocolate inside. Only because I am a chocolate freak. But it was absolutely delish and I wish I got one more to eat on the plane for later. They also offer a slew of other pastries and ham and cheese croissants plus adorable merch. They also offer a variety of beverages such as Lattes and Macchiatos if you want a hot drink to wash it all down with. Service was friendly and swift. We sat by the window and took one last look at the city before departing. We plan on coming back in a couple years and hope to make our way back to this incredibly cute cafe in the future. read more

For all the "boutique" coffee shops that exists within downtown Vancouver, this place does well to set itself apart from the others with it's French patisserie theme. The Americano I ordered was hot and was strong which is good for me. I have ordered pastries at times but found them to be very flaky and messy to eat. read more

Stopped by for a quick breakfast on a weekend morning. It was a little busy and it's definitely on the smaller side - maybe 10? ish seats - so be aware that you might not have anywhere to sit. It's a very nice ambience, pretty quiet and refined decor all around. My matcha latte was super good! I loved the rich flavour of the tea without it being too watered down or drowned out by the milk; it was on the sweeter side, but surprisingly good? Not overly so nor sickly sweet - whatever proportions of whatever sweetener they're using? They know what they're doing. I also got a chausson aux pommes, which was very yummy. It was flaky and full without being too heavy, the apples inside in particular I loved - soft, fresh, and the sauce wasn't too sweet at all. Price point was great too! There has been a recent expansion in brand new supreme quality bakeries all over Metro Vancouver, & I ain't complaining one bit. I absolutely love croissants & have for decades. Beaucoup Bakery & Cafe has brought much delight to my taste buds over the last few years. I've spent too much time & money at the first location on the other side of the Granville Bridge. And you know what - zero regrets. This bakery specializes in Paris delights. It was even declared a Top Ten Vancouver hot spot by USA Today. My favourite here has always been the Chocolate Almond Croissant. 3 words - Hea Ven Ly! It's sweet but hits all of my check marks for top quality. This second location at the St Regis Hotel, is an interesting choice to set up at, but will do well via the major foot traffic that passes by here everyday. Do try - Kouign Amann, Raspberry Brioche, London Fog Blueberry Danish, Pistachio Croissant & the awesome Blondie. This new location has that Paris feel to it. So get ready to be transported across the pond to Europe. Ohhhhhhhh la la. Hot Tip Alert - if you see the owners Jacky or his sister Betty working, ask them to bring back my absolute ultimate fav - the Orange Choclate Sour Cherry Croissant! First time to visit this second branch on a long weekend. It was a nice bakery + cafe offering both coffee/tea beverages as well as pastries and bread. Quite a lot of non English speaking tourists visited this shop. Local people including myself visited here as well. My family and I ordered matcha latte, regular latte and hojicha latte as well as a couple of cookies and a scone for afternoon tea. All the latte tasted great. The scone tasted good. One of the cookies was a peanut butter one. It tasted great. The other one was a vegan cookie with peanut butter and jam. This vegan cookie was too sweet. We felt like each bite or the whole cookie was made out of sugar. Other than this vegan cookies, we enjoyed the food, beverages and ambiance at the shop. The Beaucoup Tax Since their pastry chef Oliver Bernardino leaving in 2016 for l'Abatoir, things have not been the same...... True, there once was a time, Beaucoup raised the bar for French inspired pastries. Brought the infamous pricy addictive double-baked croissants to my attention. It was the THE pastry shop in town back then. But a lot can happen in seven years. Equal if not better pastries shops have popped up all over town . These days, Beaucoup has fallen behind to mere average/good. Unwilling to face reality, holds up a portrait of unflinching Dorian Grey of the Beaucoup tax. New store is located on Dunsmuir Street, near Granville screeching Skycow station. It is a cutsy pinkish place a little kid would likely to have dreamt up. Lots of outdoor and indoor seating, not necessarily ergonomically designed. Or maybe the discomfort is intentional to keep the customers mosey along. The place is well packed with all sorts of pastries. Service was performed by very attractive female attendants that seem to be struggling with English. They 'forgot'/ 'miscommunicated' my drink order. Even after I reminded them, they made me a caffeinated Americano as opposed to Decaffeinated one that I just I re-specified. So much caffeine that it gave me a headache. Their pastries, at least the ones I sampled, were woefully average. I would go so far as to say the cookie and cinnamon bun were day old if not older. The pistachio and butter croissants were merely good. Sub average for the price. Yet there is that Beaucoup tax. One dollar or more per item. And oh god forbid the tips suggestions on the payment splash screen. 15%, 25%, 20% for service tips. For what service? Making the wrong drink, dispensing the food? Suggesting tips for doing their basic job wrong really is an insult to all the people in the service industry that actually goes above and beyond their required minimum effort. I am not a fan of pre-tipping. This kind of tipping essentially ensures basic effort is no longer necessary. So who is this place for? Sugar addicts!!! Mind you as I was leaving, some above average sized lady fully clad in mountain climbing/hiking outfit with walking poles was having a chocolate croissant episodic fit. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU HAVE NO MORE CHOCOLATE CROISSANTS!!!" "NOT EVEN ONE!?!" "CAN YOU CHECK EVERY BASKET?" One of the cashiers, after a lengthy barrette of whys and how could yous by the angry sportish customer, suggested to another staff "maybe we can take one out that is for online order". There you have it folks, Beaucoup will survive. Between those sugar and carb craving 'athletes' and the lonely nerds dying to talk to an attractive Asian female attendant, Beaucoup will do fine. read more

French bakeries are super rare to find these days. What I love most about Beaucoup on Dunsmuir is that they've secured a beautiful corner entrance, and they offer up an abundance of fresh made pastries. This afternoon I had a cortado (equal amounts of espresso to steamed milk) and their coveted kougin Kouign-amann (pronounced like "QUEEN" amann) is a sweet Breton cake made with laminated dough. It is a round multi-layered cake, originally made with bread dough (nowadays sometimes viennoiserie dough), containing layers of butter and incorporated sugar, similar in fashion to puff pastry albeit with fewer layers. Full disclosure: This location is quite intimate with 3 tables indoors, and 2 small outdoor patio tables; so IT IS SUPER SUPER TINY AKA INTIMATE but if you can score a seat, it's a cute spot to sip on some caffeine, recharge your batteries via a pastry or croissant, and then continue on with your day. Visited Beaucoup on their first day of grand opening and was so happy to see a new bakery joining the downtown scenery steps away from Pacific Center! Very convenient when you want to make a stop for some pastries or drinks after shopping or if you work in the area! They also sell cakes too which makes another great reason for a visit if you work in the area need to purchase some sweets for celebrating any special occasions at work! In my visit I tried the Ham and Cheese Scroll and Apple Pie Supreme Croissants that they were offering just that day to the first 100 customers. The Apple Pie Supreme Croissants was good! I kind of wished they offer this on a regular! Ham and Cheese Scroll was a good size for a$7 pastry but I think I would like to try it heated next time. 3.5 stars - The bakery is small and a bit tight but it was able to hold about 15 customers when I was dining in. I came in for the pistachio croissant...it was not good...it's just a small crispy croissant with a smear of pistachio jam in the middle. The pistachio croissant price listed on both the basket that contained the croissants and the large menu on the wall was $6.50 but I was charged $6.75 and when I pointed it out the cashiers basically said the price changed...and that was it. It's only a quarter but come on...change the price or charge me what is listed. Seems like retail and food service employees nowadays do not have any clue what good customer service is...you had several places listing the incorrect price...with so many employees inside, I'm sure it would take any one of them a minute to make a new sign. I happened to be in the area and I craved for the almond croissant at Beaucoup so I decided to head there. Unfortunately, they were out of almond croissants on the day I went there. Instead I had a pain au chocolat and a cortado. The pastries at Beaucoup never disappoints me. Although I wasn't able to have the almond croissant which I originally went there for, their pain au chocolat became my new favorite! The pain au chocolat was so airy , so crispy and buttery but not greasy. I felt like I visited paradise and back as soon as I had my first bite ! It was an absolute delight ! I was just amazed at how they made their pastries so crispy and fresh. The cortado was good. Strong enough for my taste. They also offered salted caramel blondie for sample (I forgot to take a picture of it). It was delish but a small piece was pretty sweet for my taste. The caramel was heavenly. Sweet and delightfully chewy. For those who have a sweet tooth, it's a great dessert. For me who usually prefers something less sweet, I would have to share it with a friend or two. read more

swung by with a friend on tuesday around 11:00 am for a latte fix and managed to convince her to split a chocolate almond double baked croissant with me. beaucoup's croissants are top-notch. the slivered almonds on top are slightly toasted, with a delicate dusting of icing sugar - it's a crispy, buttery masterpiece with layers upon layers of puff pastry. the aroma of butter, valrhona chocolate, and almond frangipane is irresistible. this particular croissant was a tad greasy on the bottom but did not detract from the taste. read more

Recently opened Beaucoup is a sister location to south Granville location that is a popular destination. The offerings are the same, slightly larger footprint with more seating inside. Close to Pacific Center and downtown shopping area. In general more or less the same - we found the baking tasted slightly different and my scone was a touch undercooked. Could be startup fine tuning, but overall a welcome addition to the area. read more

Almond croissants are my obsession! As I continue to sample these around Vancouver, I keep coming back to the Beaucoup Bakery. There are plenty of almonds on top and they do not stint on their fillings be it almond or pistachio. So often you bite into other bakeries "almond" croissants and you are hard-pressed to taste (let alone find) the filling. Aside from their croissants, everything else I have selected there has been delicious and not overly sweet either. Lastly their presentation of each item is clearly created with TLC! read more

I was lucky to get an almond croissant still warm from the oven. It was the best croissant I've had all year and probably in my top 10 of all time. We also had the pan au chocolate and a chocolate-almond croissant. All were excellent. If I had more time in Vancouver, I would have returned every morning to work my way through the whole menu.
