Fanime 2026 is here again and as part of our tradition, we enjoy our Friday night meal at Secco. No Fanime menu again this year, but their regular menu is always good. I believe I got the same thing as the grilled chicken sandwich (renamed as Caprese Sandwich, add chicken) and the crab dip. Crab Dip: This was absolutely delicious. The bread slices were charred (though labeled grilled on the menu). They were buttered to perfection and had the right amount of surface area to have a spoonful of crab dip on. Not to mention, the crab dip itself was superb. It was full of crab and corn and was a nice start to our meal. Chicken Caprese Sandwich: Similar to what I had last year, this thing was delicious. The chicken was grilled perfectly for me and the sandwich held itself on each bite. It was not too saucy and had the right amount of produce for me. The fries were also crispy and scrumptious. Our server this year was Lloyd and he did a great job attending to us. Sima was also here, but she was serving a different section. Though we did want Sima to serve us, we still had excellent customer service. I look forward to coming again next year for our traditional Friday dinner.

Comfortable and stylish, Secco is a nice haven for the well-dressed, weary traveler. But just come as you are. We tried Secco given the reviews and, though I wasn't staying here, the location. The beer on tap was cold and crisp. Their cocktail menu also provided some good options. Their online menu doesn't seem to list a bevvie that featured vodka and a few other things finished with a basil leaf. We really came here for a later dinner, and were met with satisfaction. High marks for the Prosciutto & Fig Flat Bread (stracciatella cheese, prosciutto, fig jam, arugula). Great flavors, perfect crunch. We could have almost stopped after splitting this good-sized pizza. We also both got the Korean Chicken Bowl (grilled chicken thighs, baby bok choy, sweet peppers, steamed jasmine rice, bulgogi sauce, scallions). A welcome combination of protein and produce (yes, with some grains, too). Required a serious stir, but that's fine. At first, the bowl looked rather modest, but it's hearty. I really did like this, though it was definitely a bit salty for my taste. Happily, the cold water was refilled a few times, and that was refreshing. Service was fine. Easy to relax at the bar, and the few tables in the area were well-spaced, too. For a hotel bar and restaurant, it was very nice. And, for simply a restaurant and bar, it was also nice.

We ordered drinks and food here in our way to the Shakira concert. The food and services were great! Pilucci was a fabulous bartender. Thank you.

Piluchi is so sweet and took such great care of me. I was alone at the bar today and she made me the best Skinny Julius and was so kind. They were so good I ordered two! And the hotel is beautiful, clean, and I will definitely be back. Great drinks, great food, great company.

This was my first time eating at this restaurant and I simply loved the decor and ambiance! Incredibly clean and modern style with some bright blue accents! Comfy lounge chairs and quaint tables for smaller parties. My friend and I wanted to get something close to the Center of Performance Arts, since we were seeing "And Juliet" the Musical at 7:30p. We were lucky to get seated and ordered some cocktails at 6:15p. He ordered his burger medium rare and I got the fish tacos. His burger as made medium, and hard hardly any pink to the inside, but he said the burger was still decent. Oh and the fries were PERFECT!!!!! Crunchy and fresh with a warm and soft middle and they weren't even steak fries!!!!! I got to the last bite of my fish tacos and crunched down on SOMETHING! I wiped my mouth with my napkin and sure enough, it was a FISH BONE!!!! My friend told me to return it, but honestly that happens and it WAS my last bite and 7:15p, so we had to leave. I wouldn't mind trying this place out again, but I'd get something else. The bar is definitely a lively place! I liked their variety of drinks and assortments of wines!

It's inside the hotel with a bar and restaurant behind it. It's not the fanciest restaurant but for a hotel bar and restaurant, it's great. The service was alright, nothing to write home about. But the food was good, didn't have to wait long for anything, and it's a very beautiful place. It's located right next to lobby and the doors into the walkway to the convention center so taking a break in the middle of a busy con day there is ideal. A lot of my friends thought it was a nice and chill spot, too. Just be wary that the seats around the bar (not bar seats) get taken up quickly and a lot during con weekend.

We found this restaurant via Yelp when we were going to the theater across the street. It's really a perfect place to have a relatively quiet meal ( it is in the hotel lobby area) and then a short walk to the theater. The food was good - I had the salmon on a bed of mushrooms and vegetables, and my husband had the Cobb salad. The latter was good but nothing out of the ordinary; the grilled salmon was very tasty. We had to pay $7 for bread, which never fails to irritate me. Not an inexpensive meal, but the location cannot be beat.

Surprising find in a lobby of the Hilton hotel. Chose this based upon reviews and proximity to my hotel. Dining room closed for a private event so we sat at the bar which worked out well with the hockey playoffs on TV. Bartender was great. Very attentive and friendly. Fish tacos are good. Big serving of three with lots of toppings and sauce. Fish is grilled and tasty. Fresh corn tortillas too. The garlic french fries were excellent. Big portion but the sauce was a pass.

Had a very calm lunch here during a recent conference. The watermelon salad with chicken was refreshing and exactly the light fare I was seeking. Came back later to decompress with a martini (because I saw someone had really enjoyed one here in another review!) and the bartender definitely delivered! Also- I do recommend the chicken quesadilla for anyone just looking for the standard, middle of the road quesadilla- which is what I was looking for just to fill up at dinner! It comes with sour cream, guacamole, and hot sauce. For folks like me with a sensitive sense of smell, the bar area does smell strongly like the hotel fragrance, but it can be withstood.

My coworkers were looking to go to lunch at a spot that was walkable from the office and I discovered this spot on Yelp. It is in the Hilton and is a pretty low key spot. The interior was aesthetically pleasing and the ambiance was nice, and not too loud. We also came in as a ~15 person group and they were very accommodating and service was still quick, so we really appreciated that. For apps, we split a bunch of them: flat bread margherita, ciabatta & burrata, truffle fries, bread basket, hummus and pita. We enjoyed all of them but the flat bread was by far my favorite of all of the apps. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and it came with fries as well. It was huge so it was pretty hard to eat but still enjoyable and good value for the price. I also ordered an Arnold Palmer and they kept on refilling it! The menu is pretty small but everyone else in our party enjoyed what they ordered as well. Glad I discovered this spot close to work!

That kind of reliability is more rare than it should be, and it's worth calling out. The tacos themselves are the main event. The Carne Asada, Suadero, and Al Pastor are all standouts, but the Al Pastor especially earns its spot. They serve it with pineapple, which is the way it's meant to be done and a detail that tells you they actually care about getting it right. These are easily some of the best tacos in San Jose, and I don't say that lightly given how much competition there is in the South Bay. But the drinks alone might be worth the trip. Their Horchata and Agua Fresca are genuinely among the best I've had anywhere in the Bay Area and that's a real statement in a region with no shortage of excellent options. The salsa bar is a nice bonus: a self-serve setup where you scoop what you want into containers, and they send you off with baggies of fresh cilantro and onion so you can finish the tacos exactly how you like them. They actively encourage you to take plenty, which tells you a lot about the kind of place this is. The staff is warm and welcoming on top of everything else. Truly one of the best taco trucks around. Those had the best flavor profile The green and orange sauces were okay, not extremely flavorful and receive a sauce rating of 2.5/5; it's good for the first couple bites then the flavor fatigue gets real. Next time only cabeza and al pastor in taco form. Panchito is a nice taco truck located next to the tire shop. They have extremely nice staff that really make you feel at home. I usually come here whenever I am craving Mexican food and sometimes it is hit or miss. They have tables outside but sometimes it's too cold at night so I Togo the food home, but they always play some great music there!

The tacos were generously filled, the tortillas were delicious, and the aguas frescas were refreshing. There was a small mix-up with our order at first. Our waitress accidentally thought we had only ordered six tacos instead of twelve, so we initially received six tacos, one side of rice and beans, and were still waiting on our drinks. When she came by and noticed one of us wasn't eating, she asked if we were waiting on anything. We explained that we were still supposed to receive six more tacos, another side of rice and beans, and our drinks. She apologized, brought our drinks over right away, and the rest of our food came out quickly. Even with the mix-up, everything was handled professionally, and we appreciated how quickly she fixed it. We originally sat outside, but decided to move inside because of the bugs. The inside of the restaurant was clean, comfortable, and had a welcoming atmosphere. Since it was the Fourth of July, it wasn't busy, which made for a relaxed dining experience. The salsa bar was being prepped, but our waitress gladly brought us fresh limes when we asked. Overall, the food was delicious, the service was friendly, and even though there was a small mistake with our order, it was corrected quickly without any issues. We'll definitely be back! Highly recommend Cali Spartan if you're looking for delicious tacos and great customer service.

This was my very first visit to El Halal Mexican Restaurant in the heart of downtown Willow Glen,…read moreand I've been wanting to stop by for a while. I finally decided to give it a try after hearing about the restaurant from food reviewer Dave fiore text. As someone who absolutely loves tacos and is always on the hunt for great local taco spots, I was excited to see how this place compared to some of my favorites. I ordered four different tacos, and overall, they were pretty good. They weren't bad by any means, but they also didn't quite blow me away. The meat was cooked well, the tortillas were fresh, and the tacos had good flavor. The salsa was decent too, although I personally prefer something with a little more kick. Everyone has different tastes, so this is just my opinion. One thing I really appreciated was how clean and organized the restaurant was. You can tell they take pride in keeping the dining area nice and welcoming. The staff was friendly, and my food came out quickly. It's always a good sign when a restaurant pays attention to both cleanliness and customer service. I've eaten at a lot of taco places throughout the Bay Area, so I naturally compare every new place to some of my favorites. While El Halal Mexican Restaurant didn't make the top of my list, I still had a good experience and I'm glad I finally gave it a shot. Not every restaurant has to be your favorite to be worth visiting. I also like supporting family-owned businesses because I know how much hard work goes into running a local restaurant. They deserve credit for creating a clean, welcoming place and serving quality food. Will I come back? Maybe. If I do, I'd probably try something different on the menu instead of the tacos. Sometimes a restaurant's best dish isn't the first thing you order, and I'd be interested in seeing what else they have to offer. Overall, I'd give El Halal Mexican Restaurant a solid 4 out of 5 stars. It was a good experience, I'm happy I finally got to try it, and if you're in the Willow Glen area, it's worth stopping by and deciding for yourself.
