We moved from Wheaton to Plainfield on November 15th and Julio and his crew were great. They were finished 3 hours before the estimate provided! They wrapped and packed everything and listening carefully during the unpacking phase to place things where we wanted. We moved from a 1st floor unit to a 1st floor unit! We used them in October 2008 and were equally satisfied. In that case we moved from Chicago to Wheaton and from a 2nd story, 2-story Condo to a 1st floor unit. On time, professional and organized. Moving sucks...there's nothing fun about it. But with these guys at your side, moving is only half as atrocious as it could be. Positives: the price is right, and their quotes are pretty accurate if you let them know-honestly - how much stuff you have. They will retape any boxes that you don't tape well the first time, and will use generous amounts of shrink wrap on your fabric-covered furniture to avoid staining or marring it. Negatives: if you are concerned about your furniture getting scratched, make sure you request blankets. They cannot read your mind and will not unless you make a point of requesting some. Fragile items will break if you haven't packed them properly. Do what I did -- move fragile things that you care about yourself. I moved all my pictures, art and mirrors (except one) myself. I also moved my china myself. The one box I did not move myself was - unsurprisingly - full of broken plates that luckily I did not care about. They are quick, courteous, and do not pressure for tips. After a nearly 6 hour move (from a 2nd floor 3 bed to a 3rd floor 2 bed) I was so pleased with the service, I gave a 20% tip. read more

This is the first time we hired professional movers. They were AWESOME. Three men showed up, in a big truck 15 minutes early. Yup, I said 15 minutes!! They came in, I showed them what they were moving and just one thing that was staying behind. It was amazing to watch these guys work. They moved my 3 bedroom and loft house in 3.5 hours, stopped by our storage unit and then drove us in to Chicago.They moved all the stuff up 3 flights of stairs! This was all done by 5pm! They wrapped our furniture, they took apart our furniture and put it back together at the new place. They are a godsend. I will use them when we move out of here. After my husband had an easy and affordable move with The Professionals in 2009, we decided to use them to move a few months ago - the day before Christmas Eve. Setting up the move was simple. I loved doing everything online and getting confirmation right away. I received a call a bit before the move to confirm and the woman I spoke to answered my questions. The team of 3 movers showed up on time and we were ready to go. They were speedy and super polite and moved quickly in the cold weather. We moved our of a third floor walkup and moved into a second floor walkup. The movers were done in less time than quoted and it was worth every penny to have professionals do the hard work. At the end of the move I paid in cash and received a receipt. I'd absolutely recommend The Professionals and would use them again, though I hope I won't be moving anytime soon. read more

Yelpers love this company, and I see why. They also have a Yelp and Angies list logo on their trucks. At the time of this writing, I am 29 years old and just experienced my 10th move. The previous companies that moved my stuff in the past don't compare. Especially the previous three moves. These guys got it done right and got it done fast. it looked like it was going to rain and they offered shrink wrapping for only $10, which i accepted. They showed up an hour early and said if I wasn't ready, they'd wait off the clock until I was, but i saw no reason for that so we started. Their rates are about the same as most places, but you save because they're so fast. Even after thoroughly shrink wrapping everything and putting my boxes of stuff into bigger boxes they could handle in one trip down the stairs (and some suits I still had out because i planned to take them myself in another trip when my car wasn't full, they NEATLY folded and boxed), they were faster and cheaper (again because they're so fast) than the previous companies I've used (even when i had a third of the stuff one of those times). These guys didn't even take a break for lunch or use the elevator. i am destined to move again soon, and I will never for any reason call another moving company as long as i move within their range of service. read more

These guys were fantastic! Alejandro, Luis & Juan were incredible. I moved on 9/26/14; My move was semi complicated, but these guys made it look easy. I moved from an elevator building in Old Town & was moving in with my boyfriend who was moving out of a walk up in Lakeview - together the final destination was in Ukrainian Village. They were scheduled to arrive at 8:30 and arrived at about 8:15, they did my whole apartment in probably less than an hour. Then they drove up to my boyfriends place in Lakeview, did his place and then together we all drove to the new place! This saved us a TON of money - when we were talking about getting our own movers we were both estimating paying about $800 each - this ended up being $740 and we gave them a $150 tip - for BOTH OF US. They went above and beyond with keeping our items safe and protected - lots of saran wrap, tape & blankets. These guys while they didn't look buff certainly had no problem throwing a couch on their back and treking up three flights of stairs. The place we moved into, the owners left a pretty gross and falling apart bar up on the roof. We asked the guys to remove it and they did so with no problem. These guys were a PLEASURE to work with - I would recommend them to anyone. I have had VERY bad movers in the past and I still think about it and cringe. While I don't plan on moving again for a while, I will use them again! read more

The Professionals moved my home and I was extremely happy with the service. The team was fast, clean, efficient and honest. The team leader Julio was great. He went through everything with me step by step, was very professional, gave me consistent updates and delivered everything early and on estimate. The movers themselves should get a 5 star rating all the way. The only issue is that they did not send a big enough or enough trucks. When I made arrangements for service I emphasized the quantity of material we would be moving and that 1 truck may not be enough. I repeated my concern multiple times leading up to the move and the management assured me that the 1 truck will be plenty. I even asked for them to send someone out to look and they said not needed. We did get lucky that a second truck was available. Within 5 minutes of walking through the house, the team lead told me we would need a second truck. While it made me a little uncomfortable at first because of the cost but ultimately I saw the trucks and they were packed floor to ceiling. It wasn't really shocking so it wasn't that bad. Ultimately they estimated 6-8 hours and they came in at 5.5. The cost was towards the upper end of the estimate but had they estimated using the second truck, it would have been at or below the low end. I would strongly recommend using this company. If you have a lot of stuff, 3BR+ make sure they send a second truck or at least do an on site inspection. read more

I almost want to pack up my entire home again, and hire The Professionals just to give them more business. Talk about a company that is doing everything right. I searched Yelp looking for everyone's best suggestions for the top-notch local movers and The Professionals definitely made the top 5. After having the exhausting task of calling a few companies and giving them a run-down of everything I own, it was an easy decision to make. The Professionals were not only the most efficient over the phone, but also the friendliest and they estimated about $100 less than their competition. They showed up right on time and all three of the guys were so nice and wait for it....professional. They moved my entire apartment (including driving 3 miles in traffic) in 3 hours. They were right on with their estimated price and I got out of there spending less than $450 (including tip). Nothing was damaged and everything was put in it's new home. I also happen to be someone that moves pretty much every other year, and I'm at the age where my friends don't deserve to be punished anymore. I've used The Professionals twice now, and I'll continue to use them each time I move (though I do hope to stay put for a while now). They are on-time (even EARLY!), fast, shrink-wrapping, stair-climbing machines. Have some water on hand & tip these men well. They deserve every penny they get. If you want your move to go quickly, efficiently, and smoothly, these are the people to call. From getting an estimate by email to booking the movers to having our stuff schlepped across the city, it was all easy. They called us to let us know they were early by about 2 hours but since we were moving from a building with a reserved freight elevator that was reserved by someone else, they patiently waited until the movers before us were done and called to let us know it looked like it was free. Once they started wrapping, padding, and packing our stuff, it was super quick. We met them over at our new apartment that was a second floor walkup and we couldn't believe how much a single guy could carry alone up a flight of stairs. They unloaded our stuff at the new place with no stairs nearly as fast as they had loaded it with an elevator. Must mention the 10 free wardrobe boxes as well, that they load and unload, so if all your clothes are on hangars they never even have to be packed! No, they won't be in the same order you like them, but you'll have time to rearrange them since your movers did all the heavy lifting! Our actual amount due came in UNDER the estimate and the move took only 2 1/2 hours. Tip generously, they deserve it. I hate moving. I moved from an annoying rules-centric high rise to a smaller building this month, but this group rocked it. They showed up early, ready, and started packing things up right away. We used this company in May after consulting Yelp before calling ANY companies. They worked with me again and again as I kept changing the days of the move due to issues with the closing dates on multiple real estate closings..(I worked with Mike) The showed up EXACTLY on time, to the minute. I have nothing but good things to say about The Professionals. I had been referred to other companies by friends, but saw all of the great reviews on here, and decided to get a price quote and see how it went. The other companies tanked on customer service while The Professionals excelled. 1 - Price quote. I sent in about 5 requests online for quotes in one afternoon. By 5:00 pm Jacob had responded with a very detailed and well priced quote. 2 - Follow up. I have never hired movers before and asked about a million questions beforehand. I dealt mostly with Mike and Jacob and both were very helpful and extremely polite. 3 - Moving Day. The three movers were able to arrive almost 2 hours ahead of schedule. A bit of confusion between the company and movers about arrival time, but no big deal. They got down to business fast and were extremely polite the entire time. Kept smiles on their faces as they were hauling up heavy furniture and boxes. Finally, they allowed me to look in the truck to make sure I had everything. The time and cost estimate were below what I was told, so I tipped them pretty well. Those guys busted tail and didn't scratch, ding, or dent any of my furniture or the hallway of my building. I haven't written in quite some time after being an avid yelper...The Professionals Moving specialists motivated me to make a statement. They were very easy to work with, I filled out a survey of my property to be moved and had a phone call with a representative to finalize my estimate. The staff were easily accessible by email to answer any and all questions I had...and over the course of a couple weeks that ended up being a lot. The day of the move, they were 15 minutes early and started work right away. They were quick and responsive to direction. They were courteous and...did I say quick?? I mean super fast. They had us out of one place and into another under the estimated time. They were also very careful with our stuff and were able to disassemble and assemble all our bigger furniture with ease. They also ended up being well under the estimate for the cost of the move. And well under any of the quotes I got from other reputable companies in the area. (I had gotten four quotes). All in all moving day is hell and these guys made it much less stressful and easy. And they also cost me less (almost half) of what I would have been charged by someone else. My appointment was at 3PM...They showed at 2:59. My estimate was 4-5 hours...they were DONE in 3.5. If I have to move again, I'm calling them without hesitation. Just FYI...be aware that they do charge for the actual truck usage and any extra boxes and packing of large items (couches/beds/etc). $25 extra for packing up televisions, too. read more

Moved last Saturday: Estimate - although we were moving from a big loft with a ton of heavy furniture that needed assembly and reassembly, the estimate given over the phone of 10 was perfect. We went 10.5. Trucks were perfect size and 4 people sent were perfect #. Transparency - only company that explained Illinois state movers insurance to me. Helped advise how to pack certain items when asked. Timing - projected 8-8:30am, was there at 7:50. Cost - completely worth it. Low price and high quality. Shrink wrap and boxes, if needed, offered for sale at fair price. Move - not 1 thing broken. They even fixed a broken ikea closet I had upon re-assembly. For the last 5 moves, I've had to beg friends and family to help me. Friendships have been tested and shattered. Not this time. For the first time, I was smart and I hired movers. Two of my friends recommended The Professionals. My friends are way more particular than I am. I called them. They were friendly. They gave me a reasonable quote. They said 4-5 hours. They showed up 2 minutes early. They packed and moved everything in under 3 hours. 3 HOURS! My crummy friends would have been taking breaks all along.... waiting for me to give them pizza. Not these guys. They live up to their name. True professionals. Careful with my paintings and furniture. I had a 1bedroom plus den. They wrapped furniture and packed smaller items in larger boxes. I paid $410 and tipped them on top of that because of how much value they provided. Efficient and man do those guys hustle. I cannot recommend them enough. It was my second time using The Professionals, and once again they did not disappoint! We were moving my mother's things out of her apartment. We got a late start because of a glitch in the office of the high-rise apartment building we were moving from. I was worried about being charged for this half-hour of no activity, but at the end of the day I was not. And the moment the three guys hit the apartment, they were like a well-oiled, fast-moving machine! Super-efficient and on-the-go constantly. I have to especially mention Victor II (he said there were two Victors in the office). I'm a middle-aged man with back issues, so I was just doing some work while they guys were moving. Victor checked in with me smoothly from time to time. Once, he said, "You need to see this." He had found my mother's wedding ring! It was the tiniest little sliver of a gold ring, with a little piece of white gold where the stone would be. And he saw it on her carpet amid all the hustle and bustle. Good eyes, Victor! My mother was very happy to learn that her 50+-year-old ring was not lost after all. At the end of the day, they finished on time and under budget. You go to The Professionals when you're moving... and we were moving 14 miles one way from old home to new home. We were also downsizing from a 2 bedroom to a 1 bedroom. We had also never hired movers before, ever. PROS We were scheduled for our movers to arrive between 12:30pm and 1:30pm, however, we received a phone call about 10:15am stating they could arrive in about 15 minutes. Needless to say, they indeed arrived early. The crew did great and got the entire job done in about 2 hours--although they have a 2.5 hour minimum so we gave them 30 minutes. My wife warned them about the construction on Western, so they went straight up Ashland which I am sure helped with commute time as well. We were also provided with 4 free boxes, which was nice. CONS But we were also on a really tight budget. After a few changes in the inventory, and what I felt was a quote I couldn't afford, my wife and I decided to get the keys to our new place a few days ahead of time. With new keys in hand, we took 11 trips back and forth (totaling 308 miles) to get the price down. It was exhausting and I was a cranky mess in the days we had to do that. We also didn't know what to do about our framed pictures or the contents of our drawers in smaller things like nightstands, so I wish this was communicated more clearly from the get-go. BOTTOM LINE I'm not sure we'd hire movers again, to be honest. While the experience with The Professionals was okay, our inventory of 7 larger pieces of furniture, 6 small dining chairs, and a half dozen boxes for $315 was a bit steep for us right now. That on top of adjusting the inventory a few times and the drastic price changes on the quotes scared us. We got a few quotes which were lower at other companies, and since price was such a huge factor for us, we should have looked into those companies a little bit more as well--but our management company on top of the Yelp reviews leaned us towards The Professionals. However, if our finances/thrifty mindset ever improves, we'd hire The Professionals again. read more

I hate moving! Let me start the review with that phrase. However, my new place is amazing and worth endearing the horrible process called moving. That's when the Professionals Inc Moving Specialists came into play. You didn't actually think I would move my junk. Nope! I hired movers, the same movers I used the prior time I moved. I wanted to try them one more time because I really couldn't remember how well or bad a job they did last time. Fortunately, I have the pleasure of saying they were great. First, I spoke to Elena at their home office and she quoted me a price that was fair for the amount of stuff we were moving and the amount of time it would take, truck was included in quote. The day of the move the movers called and asked if they could start earlier than scheduled, we were excited, more time to unpack afterwards. We had three movers who were extremely nice and quite. That was one of the bad parts, the fact that I think ten words at most were exchanged and lots of pointing, maybe a language barrier. However, even though the weather wasn't great they moved everything and broke nothing. The overall move came in under the estimated budget which made us happy. Side note: They don't tell you in the estimate that they add an additional 1/4 hour to the bill to clean and organize their truck after the move. I didn't like that and argued a little bite. Overall, four star service and will use them again, but hopefully no time soon. read more

I was just downright impressed. I would use them again in a heart beat. I think I may even use them to pack next time :) Tips: You need to have everything out of your dressers. We couldn't use our debit card (that didn't bother us- just FYI) Have some bottled gatorade/water handy, these guys work hard! First time using movers and they certainly made a great impression on me! PRICE: Their price is competitive, the other places I shopped around were at least $200 higher, offered less movers, and longer estimated hours. ESTIMATES: Estimated for 4-4.5 hours for 4 people, finished in 3.5 hours; Minimum of 2.5 hours and they only do 15mins prorated increments. TIME: They showed up early as they finished up their previous job sooner than expected. Hard to blame them because they do move fast! Nothing was charged until I gave the go-ahead. EFFORT: Within 30mins most of the boxes that I spent days packing were gone. They helped us pack up some of the little items because I couldn't keep up with them. They also helped dissembled and reassembled my sectional and master-bed. All in all they finish the job earlier than the estimate and their hard work was very much appreciated! Best experience ever! They also offered wardrobe boxes for free to transfer your hang clothing from your closets. In a move from the suburbs to Chicago this month, I needed packing assistance (using their recyclable bins) as well as the move from a 4-br house to a 3-br apartment. I had used them a month prior within the city with no problems whatsoever. The crew leader was polite and the team fairly efficient, packing up the house in just over 3 hours. Although I was impressed with their speed, I unfortunately can't give them 5 stars because of the carelessness of some of the crew, I later discovered. First, when my relative and I went back to do a post-move cleaning, we found an ENTIRE CABINET full of pots and pans had been left behind. Things that weren't left behind included sink drain plugs and sliding under-counter baskets pulled off their tracks (Why???). Back at the apartment however, we found many bins were left unmarked, so we are now having to go through approx. 60-80 BINS in order to find essential bathroom and/or kitchen items. Adding insult to injury are many heavy bins stacked 6-high and located in the wrong rooms. Other gems include my computer monitor, left unwrapped and tossed in a bin with books piled on it, and my unwrapped hard drive sliding around in a bin with a set of 25-lb. hand weights. I have yet to test my computer components to make sure they've not been damaged. Lastly, while I was settling the bill, the team leader made me fill out a survey about courteousness and professionalism, plus it asks if you "felt pressured to tip them." Considering the guy's standing inches from me in my apartment and watching me fill out the form, I wrote "no" when I really meant to say "yes." Maybe it was that he hinted that if I was happy I should "take care of them" that irked me. I'm not saying that my experience was less than smooth-sailing, but depending on the type of move, as with any business, you need to be ready to supervise the work. read more

My 92 year old Aunt is selling her house and needed everything removed from the 2nd floor unit. I enlisted the Professionals for this move since they had done such a great job in moving me in November and my sister 2 weeks after that. These 3 guys worked miracles in getting big bulky furniture down a narrow twisty staircase. And they did it quickly and without any damage to the furniture, walls or staircase. Simply amazing. The price came in under the high end quote. I was just so thankful that they were able to get me scheduled on short notice and on Mother's Day! These guys are the best! read more

Process from beginning to end was top-notch! I love the on-line estimate process and the customer service rep called me within hours with a quote. She then promptly emailed over the contract. I ended up not signing the contract due to a pushback in my move date. She emailed me a couple of times to ask if there were questions and to see if I wanted to reschedule and I just LOVE that I didn't feel pressured or harassed. By the time i signed everything, I did end up losing the early morning time slot, but they offered me plenty of alternatives. I ended up going with a 3:00 - 4:00 pm start time. (My husband complained about a "rush hour" move, but he didn't want to go with a professional company in the first place). The 4 guys showed up about 30 minutes early, and despite this was there 2nd move of the day, they jumped into action. They established an "assembly line" and had moved at least 20 boxes within the first 5 minutes!!! They moved so efficiently that we had the entire house (plus most of the basement and garage, which we'd planned to do on our own) packed within 1.5 hours. The guys moved things up and down the 3 floors of our new greystone with skill, accuracy and speed. They remembered exactly what room things came from and it didn't take them long to figure out where boxes belong in the new place. EVERYTHING was moved, set up, put back together, beds re-framed, unwrapped and all within 4 hours!!!! It would have taken our friends and family 4 days to get all this heavy furniture and bedding up and down all these stairs. A few tips: - Have someone at your new place available to take clothes out of wardrobe boxes. The movers were literally moving so fast that I couldn't unpack them while directing the guys where to place other furnishings. - Don't spend a lot of time labeling your boxes (fragile, heavy, etc) with hopes that the movers will read your notes. They move everything with the same effort (good or bad). Do your labeling for your own benefit, not theirs. (Praying my China is okay when I unpack it LOL)! Recommendations- -Would be great to have a way to label wardrobe boxes. When moving a family of 4, I had to peek inside each box to determine which room they belonged to. Let's face it. Moving is usually a stressful nightmare. But my move using these guys was as low stress as a move I have ever had. I used the Professionals to load out my condo and load up a 16 foot PODS container. We were fairly well packed, and Oscar and crew came into the place, assessed the situation and went right to it. As far as the moving crew is concerned this is a 5 stars review. These guys went above and beyond the call of duty, packing the container to the brim, and pulling off a logistical miracle in fitting all that stuff in the Pod. Oscar was a personable guy, and clearly took charge of his crew, giving direction and guidance when needed. The only reason they don't get 5 stars overall is that they do not take credit cards. Cash or money order only. C'mon, let's join the 21st century folks. Overall my experience was positive, I would use the Professionals again. read more

We moved twice with them. Once in April and once in August. Both times they showed up early. They did do a pretty good job. Both times they finished around the estimated time. The only gripe is that they lost one of our glass for the tv stand so now it's useless. read more
