Date night for the wifey and I so we started the evening at L.A. Jackson ( you can see my review of this establishment on a new search after you read this marvel). Ambiance: Traditional Irish pub - but all servers are wearing kilts and high tartan socks...ok well I've been to both Scotland and Ireland and I saw kilts in Scotland not Ireland but hey they were all wearing kilts when Stephen helped Williams Wallace in Braveheart right? Ok, I digress. Either way the atmosphere was pleasant and busy with a traditional European bar feel. Service: Zach was our waiter and boy was he a riot. Flamboyance was his middle name and he was right quick to offer up an IPA for me but had to settle for a Diet Coke for the wife. Zach was funny, professional, and super lively so this got a star on its own! Food: We began with the pretzels and cheese appetizer and while it was good took the 5th star as it came with carrots and celery and the pretzels were bites instead of a crooked twisted traditional pretzel. Taste was ok but lacked that super Bavarian buttery appeal - but hey were were in Ireland or Scotland or somewhere European...again I digress. I had the traditional fish and chips and it was really well done / have to admit probably one of the better pieces of fish (haddock) that I had eaten in quite a while. Cod is more available and it's nice when the restaurant take the time to get done good pieces of haddock to stock for a proper fish! Chips were ok / garlic tartar sauce was very tasty and the portion was HUGE - couldn't eat the smaller 2nd piece of fish so you won't leave hungry! Wife had the young burger and said it was juicy, done properly and the fries were also good. She's boring but I bring her along so I can review more than 1 dish! Price: A bit more than average for the fish n chips @$18.99 but it was a Huge portion and did have 2 pieces so I guess we can call that fair. All together about $60 for Fish n chips, an IPA, a Burger and Sone pretzel bites. Summary: Go for the Fish N Chips for sure and the allure of that salty Irish pub feeling with men and ladies in kilts who are also salty and or lively - and ask to be sat in Zach's area - you won't regret it! Came across this pub while walking around the gulch. Large Irish themed restaurant with a big bar as you walk in and an outdoor patio. The beer list is huge with a decent wine list. The list includes everything from Sapporo to Michelob Ultra. The menu is big with a lot of Irish items and some other things throw in. We had the beer cheese and sausage roll appetizers. The beer cheese dip was served with pretzels and veggies. Both were very good and the portions were decent. We sat at the bar, the bartender was friendly and efficient. What a killer meal - location and atmosphere. We sat down as a party of 4 in the back by the street window. We had great apps to start with the bone in wings Buffalo style and the fried pickles - which I loved because they were little sticks and tasted awesome. First, I'm now that older "grumpy" guy who gets shitty service and sub-par food often and grumbles about how everything is triple the price it should be for that result......SO....I could not have been more satisfied with my overall experience here. I wouldn't call them the best in the US, but it's pretty dang good. The portion sizes are great too - we could've done without the apps and still left full. The Pub is a solid spot for small to mid-sized gathering. I've been pleased with service during recent visits, an improvement from years ago when it was a new spot. The beer selection is good, the servers are knowledgeable, and the food is surprisingly good for bar food. Prices are somewhat typical for the area. If you're opting out of the Biscuit Love line and thinking of stopping in here as your second choice, I can't recommend it. As an out of Towner, obviously wanted to try the biscuit love based on the cult following but the line was just too much. Our large group opted to eat across the street at the Pub during brunch time and was just sub-par all around. The food was "meh", the waffles taste like they are frozen, my Mexican coffee cocktail was not good and the Nashville hot version of chicken and waffles just means they sprinkle some spicy seasoning on top which feels like too little effort. The redeeming qualities were the super friendly service and overall fun atmosphere, which was great for a large group like ours. Second time here, and memory served us well in regards to the fish and chips, which are stellar. The fried coating is not too thick or thin, crispy and when topped with some vinegar or lemon juice, perfect. The chips are slightly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside and seasoned just right. I'd agree with their bold claims of "the best fish and chips" as I have yet to find better anywhere in the US. We ordered a few drinks, specifically I ordered their "Kings old fashioned" which tasted pretty good...definitely lighter and more citrusy than typical, but it paired nicely with the fish and chips. Not typically a fan of the bourbon they used (Woodford Reserve), and had I just went for a drink I would have been underwhelmed. My wife ordered a blue Hawaiian which was fantastic. We ended our evening with their cookie/ice cream/Carmel dessert, which was fantastic. The environment and seating is easily a standout here, comfortable, unique and fun! I have never had one before and i have always wanted to try it. Wow, I have been missing out because it was delicious. If you don't know, a Scotch egg is a boiled egg wrapped In sausage, Parmesan Breadcrumbs, served with a spicy mustard. I can't wait to order these again! I will order them whenever they are on the menu. The Fish and Chips were delicious! First of all you can get them in the regular size or a wee size, which is what we ordered! I also just found out these fish and chips are considered the "Best Fish and Chips in the US." These fish and chips are award winning so I'm glad we tried them! I came to Pub Nashville on a Friday evening. It was not super packed and my friends and I wanted to relax a bit from walking around all day. There is plenty of seating available inside. There was a sign stating that The Pub Nashville had the #1 Fish & Chips in the US, so our table decided to order a plate so we all could try a piece. The Fish is huge and comes with a handful of fries, tartar sauce and a small bowl of coleslaw. The fish was perfectly cooked and the batter was not overwhelming. It definitely was one of my top three Fish & Chip plates that I have ever tried. The service is quick and friendly, I really liked the relaxed vibe here. We were able to order several rounds of drinks as well while chatting among ourselves without feeling rushed my service. They have this mix and match gin and tonic and I tried two, both were really good, they use the fever tree tonics and they pour the gin of your choice in the glass and then serve the bottle of tonic on the side so you can decide how much tonic you would like, nice touch. Only thing better would be home made tonics, honestly. My husband and I shared the regular fish and chips that are supposedly the best in the US, I'm not sure about that. Were they good? Yes. The best I've ever had? Probably not. This is a pleasant, classic British pub making bold claims on their fish and chips. They took it seriously with a validation from British food critics who specially flew to Nashville to try the fish and chips. Had to order it. The fish, haddock, is super tender and fried to golden perfection on top of thick British style chips, served with a classic tartar sauce and a so-so coleslaw. While it's definitely a great dish, the fried fish is quite oily and sort of coats your mouth with that oily flavor which isn't good. You immediately feel a need to order a refreshing drink or a dessert to balance out that flavor. I wish they added their special touch of seasonings in the batter or perhaps serve a curry sauce and mushy peas alongside to help enhance the taste. They also do a Monday trivia which was kinda fun. I overheard on of the crew members say that he was going to the Pub for Fish and chips. After putting my stuff up in the hotel, i went to find something to eat and i remembered what he said. The Pub Nashville was almost across the street ... and i went. The fish and chips at the Pub has somewhat of a reputation of being really good around Nashville. I ordered the "wee" 5 ounce, smaller than the regular because i intended to try the chips also and the slaw. I quickly ordered and it came out hot and smelled delicious. I had to let it cool down a bit (I like food served that way!) so i tried the chips (fries) and was pleasantly surprised at their above average taste. The cole slaw was certainly OK (i dislike sugar in Cole Slaw and if any, it was hard to detect). The tartar sauce was above average but for my taste, could have used a bit more dill. The fish was a perfect beer battered haddock, not cod, and crispy and was fantastic with the malt vinegar provided on the table. In other words, as i told my waiter (service was quick and responsive without being overbearing or intrusive), the Fish and Chips lived up to its reputation, well deserved. read more

The decor is a mix between an Irish pub and a casino, loud, lots of people, carpet floors and just a ton going on. They were busy but, not super busy (all tables were filled and a few small groups standing)-- I would imagine they get a lot busier later on (we were there in a Friday about 5pm).
