A happy coincidence...I had an appointment at Pure Path salon with another stylist. When I showed up I learned "Maria" did not work there and was using PurePaths name and address via Groupon. I was scammed and very upset. Lisa who owns the salon was very nice and offered to do my hair... and at no charge! I was not the first person who showed up at her salon thus putting her reputation at risk. She fit me in and did an amazing job on my hair. I lost my hairstylist to Las Vegas. Since then I've been to a few -what I would hope to be replacments- with no luck or happiness UNTIL I was given a groupon here. I received a groupon for 89.00 as a gift back in October for my birthday. Because I had such a bad experience at another salon waaaay back in July, I had not even ventured to to get trim. Yea. It was that bad. Like tears in my car driving home bad. BUT I decided I was gonna big girl up and yet again take the chance and use this groupon atleast for a conditioning and trim. I rationalized it as ~A) you can't really mess up a deep conditioning and B) I hadn't had a trim in almost a year so I had the length to work with if something went a rye. And C) it's Aveda! So, I arrive at my appointent a few minutes early. The place is very small and there are only two hairstylist there. The inside is a little dated and maybe discouraging. BUT lots of places in Los Gato's have that old beachy/mountainesque feel to them. Judgments aside and 5 minutes later I was in Ashley's chair. I expressed I needed my hair to have shape! It had been so long that it was just a pile of black madness on the top of my head. I had been doing my own dye jobs and the outcome to my drugstore dye jobs was layer after layer of black pigment. I kinda looked like I was going for a goth look. No offense to anyone who likes that look~ to each their own~ that's just not me. The intent of the visit was really to use the groupon however, I got so much more. I brought 3 pictures with me. The cuts were similar in all three. I had asked if they could maybe warm up the tone of my hair so it wasn't so chalkboard black. The salon owner Lisa suggested that they wash out the dye and tone it down to lift out the black. The outcome was gorgeous!!! And the overall health, texture and condition is so soft and managable. I swear the cut and color took 5 years off my age. I am so grateful for Ashley and Lisa. Ashley has a lot of experince and she's awesome at her cutting skills. I like the fact that she consults Lisa whom is extremely knowledgable to fortify whatever process she's going to do. The two consolidating ideas made me feel confident and not like~ 'well, here we go. Lets hope for the best' type of experience. I left that place really feeling truely gateful and happy... Let me start by saying BUYER - BEWARE!!! I purchased a Groupon for a cut & highlight ($90). When I called to schedule, the owner made it explicitly clear that this was a $250 value and the tip is NOT included so I should tip on the valued amount of the service. I've had my hair cut & colored for years and have used Advanced stylists at many of the local Aveda salons. I was a little wary given the price and experience level of the stylist but trusted the salon name & training. I spent over 3 hours the day of my appointment and tipped my stylist $50 as I felt she earned it. A couple of weeks later, I contacted the salon requesting to come back in to have a few darker foils added, to even-out some of the chunkier pieces on top. I was told that since I used a Groupon, there were no re-do's. If I wanted it fixed, I would need to pay another $45-$75. I was appalled that she refused to stand behind her work! She mentioned that the price I paid was really a great deal and that she worked hard on my hair. Yes, she worked hard and was tipped accordingly. No, it's not a "great deal" when your client is unhappy. So instead of taking the time to put in a few extra foils and have a satisfied client that would bring repeat business, you chose to have an extremely dissatisfied client that will be sure to share this bad experience and never return. I hope this will be a lesson to you and that you re-think the way you treat future clients. All the best to you... read more

I have never been so mad at a hair salon in my entire life. I paid for a full highlight, conditioning, cut and blow dry I purchased from Groupon and results were horrifying. My hair is light brown and I wanted NATURAL looking blonder highlights and Ashley made me look like a skunk. The streaks are so obvious and awfully looking and they're ALL over my head. It wouldn't be so bad if she hadn't left the dye in so long maybe but she left them in for OVER AND HOUR. There are strips of my hair that are completely white, especially the ones framing my face. when it's up in a ponytail it looks even more hideous. Also washing the dye out of my hair took Ashley almost an hour which was absolutely ridiculous. I am not joking when I say I look like a backstreet boy with f***ing frosted tips. Not only did the service take OVER 3 HOURS, but she decided to completely skip the blow dry which I paid for and did not get refunded back. The "salon" is also the size of a closet and does not look clean. They use the bathroom as a supply room and keep food back there which one woman was EATING while coloring someone else's hair. Not to mention the only wall for privacy to use the bathroom is a CURTAIN. In addition, the entire time I was getting the service, they kept trying to sell me things and got really offended when I didn't want to buy anything at the end. Overall, UNPROFESSIONAL and very disappointing. I will now have to pay $200 to have this fixed at a proper salon which will dry out my hair even more than this near bleaching experience. NEVER STEP FOOT INTO The Pure Path unless you're looking for horrible results. read more

This review is long overdue. Ashley is the best blonde/highlights colorist I have ever worked with and since I moved from Los Gatos to the East Bay, I still drive an hour back to see her because she's THAT good! As a blonde, often times when I get roots and go to get highlights elsewhere, I'm left with "less" roots, or the stylist will evenly blend but won't get close to the scalp so my roots are back in a matter of weeks. Not only does Ashley blend the new highlights with a few strategically placed low lights so the effect is an even color job that looks completely natural throughout, but she pays meticulous attention to detail and gets all the way to the scalp. She also finishes with a face-contouring pass with her brush to free-style highlight where the sun would hit and highlight whispies around the face. The end result is a multi-tone (depth) look with beautiful blonde and makes me look tanner! This picture doesn't do justice. I will add more later! 5 stars for Ashley and Pure Path! read more

While this salon looks like a tiny, hole-in-the-wall type of joint, don't be fooled. This place is great! I've been to other Aveda salons, and this is by far the most personable. The salon is run by Lisa I believe, and she has one other gal (Ashley) working here as well. It's not your run-of-the-mill Aveda salon. I had a groupon for a cut with Ashley...She did a great job! Normally the next time I need a cut I just buy a new groupon, but I will for sure return. She works hard to ensure her clients are happy, and will not let you leave unless you love your cut! I highly recommend her, and the Aveda products are great (again, I never got into high-end products until trying Aveda...they are for sure worth the extra money)! read more

Michelle is an excellent colorist and I highly recommend her. I have fine strawberry blonde hair that has dulled over the years, and can use some oomph. Whether it's blonde highlights in summer, or copper lowlights in winter--I've never left Michelle's chair with the wrong shade of red, or an unnatural looking color. If you've played with reds before, the wrong shade can cast a sickly glow to your face, and have you waiting for the day it finally fades. Lisa has been coloring and cutting my hair for 21 yrs. She has a true innate artistry for her craft. I trust her 100% with my hair. She now offers oxygen facials which are a step above her traditional facial (which are excellent). An oxygen facial includes a pressurized stream of oxygen with hyaluronic acid, antioxidants and peptides sprayed into your skin. The after effects are amazing. My skin looked and felt super smooth. I saw Lisa twice last summer and even had her cut my husband's hair. I was shocked at the size and design of the shop. It was not the sleek, up to date salons I am accustomed going to (I always go to Aveda salon). It is basically a closet with two chairs. Both visits I spent a small fortune on products. The cuts/color were okay, although I would have preferred it shorter. I am disabled and needed to cancel our third appointment. Lisa never did return my call to reschedule. I called this week, as I wanted to have a few different processes done. I gave Ashley all of the details and she told me Lisa would call me shortly, but it is almost a week later and phone has not rung. If she didn't want to treat me because of my disability, that is fine. I would understand. But to not to call me at all is completely rude. I'll spend my money at another Aveda salon. I already have 2 appointments at the Aveda salon I went to years ago. My reason for leaving was it was further from my home and my stylist moved to Paris. It will be nice to return to a salon that is much larger than my walk-in closet. read more

Michelle has a great eye for color and does a fabulous job with cuts. When I go to other salons, I always feel rushed and that they are not taking their time to do my hair. As I moved for college and looked for another hair stylist to color my hair, they could never measure up to her. She did a marvelous job coloring my hair back to its "natural color" so I could go a long time without getting it colored. The pure path is not like most salons, it has two chairs and it is relaxing and quiet. It is a more positive environment and has an intimate feel to it. Not to mention, they use a great product that does wonders to my hair. I have long fine hair, and it is a pain to style. Michelle can curl and style my hair without it feeling caked on with hairspray or greasy, and it holds for a long time. I have never had a bad experience, and I always look forward to getting my hair cut from Michelle. read more
