I have 4 states left to visit and have eaten BBQ in most. This was our first time in Santa Fe so of course had to check this place out. I have to say it was some of the worst 'q I (and my family) has experienced... Without exception everything was dry, dry, dry. Pork, regular dry. Brisket, so dry it crumbled (not fall apart, CRUMBLED.). Baby back ribs tear-off-bone-and-stick-between-your-teeth dry. Sausage--who yhe heck slices sausage lengthwise THEN GRILLS IT??!! There was not a drop of fat/juice left in that sausage when I got it. Mac & Cheese w/brisket? Yup you guessed it--dry, clumpy mess. The only real liquid in it to take then place of the lacking cheese sauce was some grease that coated the noodles. Needless to say, we left our plates 3/4 pr more uneaten. Thank goodness there was a slight silver lining in the queso and salsa apps--some of the best of both we sampled in the ABQ/SF area. Not enough to make it worth a visit however. Wow so disappointed. We were there at around 12:10pm on a Friday so its not like they were running out of stuff from a busy day. We felt sorry foe those people waiting in line at the door to be seated. The salmon was to die for, but the mac & cheese right behind it. The only negative I would say about our experience was that it was extremely noisy so for the individuals in our party that are hearing challenged it was a little difficult to have conversations. Texas Roadhouse takes first in service, energy, portion, taste, cleanliness, smell, atmosphere, openess, entree price, value, and personality. We only go to Ranch House for the happy hour when Texas Roadhouse is too busy. Perhaps they'll expand the happy hour to compete. Try the won ton tacos, sliders, and potato skins. Okay, I'll be the first to say it! The Ranch House BBQ is on par with the legendary Terry Black BBQ in Texas!!! Our waiter (TJ, goes by TJ, everyone calls him TJ, for God's sake just call him TJ) was a pleasure to meet. He took extremely good care of us. Found this really promising barbecue place using the yelp search while we were traveling in the area. We order two meals to go. First was the sausage plate and the second was the sirloin Mexican style. Ordering over the phone was pretty simple. I was able to get my order in about 15 to 20 minutes. I arrived about 20 minutes later and parked in the to go parking area. No one came out. I waited for about 5 to 10 minutes before going in walking inside to inquire about my order. The hostess gave me my total. When I mentioned that no one has come out to the car, she asked if I had parked in the to go parking spots. I had. I paid and my food was brought out. I had to ask for silverware. It did not come in the bag. The food was ok. The. Sausage plate was a little spicy. The sirloin was a bit dry, probably from the delay in getting it out. The Mexican style veggies were really good. It was a bit spicy, but good flavor. The plate looked like a mess. The salad that was supposed to be on top was completely wilted and mushy. Sorry to say, the service was not very good and the food wasn't very fresh this time either. Mine was served room temperature. Our main server was okay but something was off. We get seated and never got napkins/ silverware until I had to ask after the food was served. Then the immature girl that dropped off the food took it personal that I had to ask for a napkin and silverware. She gave me some snarky comment and attitude. We were overall very dissatisfied with this experience. I ordered a medium rare sirloin- it was medium well and tougher than jerky, I couldn't even chew it. The waitress seemed as if she would rather be anywhere else, so I didn't feel like I should trouble her further. We really enjoyed eating here with friends who live in Santa Fe we were visiting. We live in Texas. The baby back ribs and corn bread were really good which is probably because the restaurant is apparently owned by Texans. The server remembered all our orders by memory and got it all right! I was not impressed on my first visit here. A sunny afternoon outside... dark & dismal inside. We were sent to a booth in the bar... which is where we usually like to eat... because it's usually more lively. This one was dark & lonely... the menu is printed in shades of brown, which is HARD to read on low light. We came because of several "best salads in town" online recommendations... I don't know where they usually eat, but the 5 salads listed were NOTHING special. Other than salads, everything else was all VERY salty &/or high fat choices. I couldn't find anything remotely healthy on the menu. Great for some, but not on our menu. :( read more

What a surprise when I had one of the taquitos, and they were a blend of barbecue along with Hispanic food. The filling was indescribable; some sort of soft creamy cheese with meat cooked in a smoker finished with a deep fried crispy shell. Simply scrumptious. The potatoes were similar. Wow! The service was great and quick, I can see how there can be a long wait because this place was great food. The food was impeccable. I had the BBQ pulled chicken sandwich which I cleaned my plate on. The brisket Mac and cheese was bowl cleaning. The pulled pork and brisket plates were great as well. We came here the day after Valentine's Day to celebrate that and our anniversary. It was very busy but the hostess said the wait was 15 minutes. We ended up waiting an hour. The waiting room was small and crowded and no seats available. When we got to be seated I saw there were so many empty tables that could have been filled. I understand that they were understaffed but they should be more prepared for a Saturday night. Peggy our server was amazing and super nice. The food was great too. Service and ambience were good. My wife had the build your own veggie burger with green chile and cheddar. She found it to be dry and lacking the advertised garlic mayo (or maybe a tiny amount?) I had the lunch special baby back plate. I found the smoke flavor overwhelming and drowned out the sauce. Now I realize they clearly state their meats are smoked with Texas Oak and many enjoy the flavor, so that is on me for making that choice. Fries were good and service good. We ordered an apple goat cheese salad with smoked chicken, the prime rib, the brisket plate, bbq shrimp pasta, kids burger and fries and kids pasta. All the meat, except the bbq shrimp, were extremely dry and lacked any flavor. I don't even think there was salt on them.
