5 stars deliciousness! We enjoyed dinner with friends we are here visiting in Santa Fe. Excellent food, great and attentive service and conversation friendly ambience. We started with the focaccia bread, the olive tapenade was the star for me. We shared a delightful beet salad, so clean and fresh for summer. My tuna tartare was simple, citrusy, melt in your mouth. Hubby had the chicken thighs, that sauce was so flavorful! Highly recommend.

Why would anyone not give this delightful and friendly restaurant less than 5 stars ?? I mean, the food that I ate was incredible. Maybe I just ordered the right stuff. Ok. So Tuna Tartare ~ AWESOME! Emilio was so incredibly helpful in explaining what I was actually eating "So it's served with a black pepper risotto cake with a tuna that is mixed with Dijon mustard placed on top of the risotto cake and drizzled with a warm anchovy butter and a little basil oil! The Hanger Steak entree BLEW ME AWAY ! Emilio said something about red curry or red miso ...whatever it is it's incredible ! balsamic on the asparagus, etc. Super tender, medium rare hanger steak that melts in your mouth and pops with flavor for days And I'll add a picture of this incredibly cute pop tart dessert that Emilio recommended I love it !!

I would give this place 4.5 stars! We came here based on the reviews and the creative menu items. We had the focaccia, which was yummy!! It was a very generous portion. Probably enough for a party of 6 who want to have a little bread with some delicious toppings. We also had the hamachi, which was amazing! And the mixed greens salad was really fresh with a lovely dressing. For entrees we had the dumplings with shrimp added. The dumplings were ok but the rest of the dish was really delicious. I would have taken more bok choy and more chili oil! The burger was also really good (as were the fries). Also very, very big. We did not finish our entrees because they were so generously portioned. We could not (and glad we did not!) forgo dessert so we tried the chocolate tahini tarte. You must have this if you like chocolate!! Laurie, our server, was so wonderful! The ambience is very nice and I loved that the tables are not jam packed in. Try this place! It's worth it!

Highly recommend a reservation here if trying to dine on a Friday or Saturday. Although busy this place offers a pleasant seating atmosphere. Meal portions are decent and the food overall was delicious, but I particularly enjoyed how each item was plated. Definitely a place to check out!

We had a decent first experience at Horno. Sat at the bar. which was a bit of a mixed bag. The setup's a little awkward on the nearest end of the bar closest to the front door, with staff constantly moving in and out of the kitchen and picking up drinks right next to you, plus the angled cut of the bar makes it hard to sit straight on. That said, the bartender was fantastic she was super attentive, walked us through the menu, answered all our questions, and even made some great suggestions based on what we liked. The food was delicious. We really enjoyed the vegetable dumplings, tuna tartare, and focaccia all full of flavor and beautifully presented. The ambiance was lively and upbeat, so definitely good vibes overall. I think our slightly off experience was more about where we sat than anything else. Would absolutely give it another shot. next time, maybe at a table instead of the bar.

We had to wait for a table of 5 but not for long. The service was excellent with fast responses to any request. Noise level was ok but got loud when a group arrived and sat at the table behind us. The food was delicious with perfect sized servings. Definitely worth a visit.

Grilled snapper with delicate but oh so flavorful sauces (note plural) and toppings. This dish is nirvana.

The BEST restaurant anywhere. Truly. Freshest ingredients. Perfectly prepared. Amazing menu. Excellent staff. Lively but not deafening. Great wines. Bargain for this quality, incl wines. This chef has some great pairings - "everything from scratch" is real here- just get a res and go asap. You will be happy! happy! Happy!. House made fluffy focaccia with a cheesy crust. Watermelon salad with creamy goat cheese and arugula. The FISH!!! Crème brûlée comes with a warm cookie. Blueberry tart with lemon ice cream. Yes!! And very, very nice people work here.

    Chicken thigh over polenta

What a great restaurant. From the service and I mean from the hostess, manager, waiter, servers, and busboy, to the setting, to the food. Amanda was our waiter and dang if she wasn't knowledgeable about the menu. Very attentive and nice as can be. Ask for Amanda when you go. As others have said the focaccia is to die for. It would have been great with just the red pepper olive oil that it comes with, but I would add the goat cheese and the olive tapenade as well. You get three large pieces BTW. The tuna tartare on a risotto cake was one of the best starters I've ever had. Even if you don't like raw fish, I bet you would like this. Honestly, you can't even tell that it's raw. My wife and I are not huge eaters so we split the chicken thigh dish, which comes with two thighs. They split it in the kitchen and put it on two different plates without a complaint. My wife had gone to the restroom and Amanda came over and said where did she go?! Your chicken is ready! She said this humorously of course. The food was ready to go and they could've put it on our plate, but the server waited until my wife got back and just after she sat down and got settled. They brought the food out. I don't know if I've ever been to a restaurant that would care that much about serving the food. Anyway, I thought that was a great touch. The seating is very nice as they set the tables far enough apart from each other that you're not bumping into other patrons. My wife got some kind of limeade, basil mocktail, and it was extremely good. I had a couple of local beers that were quite nice. For those of you who like wine they have quite a good selection. Anyway, I highly recommend this restaurant.

Focaccia Bread and yummy spreads, Teriyaki Glazed Octopus

We came to Horno upon recommendation from a friend of a friend. Wow! We are so glad we came. Everything from start to finish was incredible. Atmosphere, service, food, drinks and most importantly, Heather and Dave! Outstanding! The octopus was beyond delicious! I had the Grilled Black Angus Hanger Steak and loved it. My wife had the fish of the day and loved every bite! Didn't make it out of there without having the homemade pop-tart! It was to LIVE for! We will be back!

Came here with a group of 16 people and we got a private table in the main room. Good: - Overall the variety of food was really good and the meatball appetizer was super good it came with really grilled bread and a really tasty sauce. - The vegetable dumplings had a really savory and sweet sauce that I enjoyed greatly - The main dish was great but not my favorite compared to the appetizers and the other things that they offered since it was a lot of steak and some of it just was super dry. Bad: - The place was pretty simple, nothing too fancy even in the main living room - I found the cocktails to be a little too sweet - The creme brulee was too sweet for me I took two bites then gave up Overall this was a good experience I liked how much food we got and I was stuffed by the end of the meal.

Banana pudding something or another.... thick, rich and fresh!

The lamb tartare was expertly prepared, and perfectly complimented with housemade potato chips (seasoned, very crispy, and the right amount of vinegar). The ratatouille was phenomenal; very flavorful (both the veggies & sauce), perfectly cooked veggies, and some crispy kale. The steak tenderloin stew was excellent, and I appreciated that the Christmas chile sauce was on the side so you could add it to taste. The meat was tender, the stew had a good flavor to it, and the chile sauce brought it to another level. My girlfriend loved the green chile pineapple sorbet. It had a lite chile flavor, and wasn't too sweet. The orange blossom tres leche cake was outstanding, with the cake and meringue cooked to perfection (both with great consistency), and the lowkey orange blossom flavor complimenting things very nicely. We ate at the bar, Ben the bartender was a great server. His notes on the dishes were informative and accurate, and he also recommended some places in and around Santa Fe for us to checkout... I've been hearing about Joseph's for some time, and on my most recent visit to Santa Fe finally visited for dinner. It was the meal of the trip. The restaurant itself has a charming neighborhoody feel with several rooms, wood beams, local art, and adequate spacing between tables (one of my pet peeves is the lack of privacy caused by tables too close together.) The food. Oh my. Food should not bring me this much pleasure... It's an award winner, so call ahead.

However, I decided to go with an appetizer I've never tried, the Bang Bang Shrimp, which was dynamite! You get four very large, crispy shrimp in a sweet-and-spicy sauce, though I didn't find it spicy, if that's a concern for some. The sauce was very tasty; the shrimp had great flavor, were plump and tender, and they were indeed crispy. This went very well with the arugula under the shrimp. I'd order this again in a second. I then had two tacos à la carte: Baja Fish beer-battered cod and Carnitas. Both were very large and excellent. The pork on the Carnitas was indeed crispy as it should be, and the cod was perfectly fried and delicious. My wife had the Asian Tuna Noodle Crunch Bowl: seared tuna, lo mein noodles. The dressing was superb; the Tuna was perfectly seared raw, and all the items that came with the salad (mango, red cabbage, daikon radish sprouts, kale crunch, edamame, cilantro, peanuts, toasted sesame) made for a lovely and delicious meal. Our server, Tony, did a fantastic job of keeping us all happy. My only 'complaint' was that Boxcar doesn't serve their amazing Brussels sprouts, or at least not all the time. Not on the menu. I told Tony and the manager how much I love them and was told it may come back as a special from time to time. Man, the Boxcar Brussels sprouts are amazing! Boxcar has very, very good food, and I would usually avoid what appears to be a 'sports bar,' but James Beard Foundation-recognized Chef Eric Stumpf will please the foodies every time. What is nice is that Boxcar has several seating areas, so if you're into food and not the 'bar scene,' they can seat you in an area that is quiet.

I still enjoyed going there, the margaritas are great the food is as well. I will go back, but I'd appreciate a little more less of being ignored, just because I'm by myself or not a male. The only thing I'll remember about this place was bad food and the $100 we threw in the garbage. If I had the chance to have a redo, I'd go down the street and eat at Sonic, and Sonic sucks.

Since I didn't know when our waitress would appear again, I told the first person we saw - a young man - that I couldn't drink anything with coffee because of the caffeine, and that I needed it remade. He took it back to redo. While we were waiting, one of the pool players dropped a very loud f-bomb when he missed a shot. Then a young child began crying very loudly. The young man came back with the remade drink, and the coffee taste was gone. After it had been over 45 minutes I had to ask what looked like the manager what had happened to our burrito and fries. She went back to check, and our food finally appeared. The burritos were long on rice and short on carne asada, something we couldn't know until we started eating. At some point our original waitress came back, and my wife told her we had to send back my first drink because of the coffee ingredient. She denied any coffee-containing spirit was used, and walked away. We never saw her again. I had to ask the manager for an itemized ticket, since the ones we had were sign for a total amount only, with no itemized detail. Since the original waitress had closed out our ticket right after we ordered and had given us our check, we paid and left. No tip was left.
