I had another great lunch at Santa Fe Bite. I always order the 10 oz burger, and my girlfriend who came with me ordered the patty melt. They were both delicious! They use premium beef and it's always cooked to perfection and delicious. They serve it on a brioche bun which is delicious. I also got the homemade chips. Yummy! The service was phenomenal. Our server was Ashley, and she was very attentive. We never had to ask for refills on our drinks or anything like that. The ambiance is trendy and it's a good location because it's in a strip mall so there's plenty of parking. It's not right in the plaza like most restaurants in Santa Fe, which can be challenging with the parking situation. If you haven't tried Santa Fe Bite yet, you need to go. You will not be disappointed.

I really like Santa Fe Bite but this time I was very disappointed. Always loved their hamburgers but this time I was surprised. I always order a med rare and it's always perfect. This time I got a well done burger that I had to send back. Being with a group of friends who all got their meal, I didn't want to take a chance and perhaps get the same order. So I left with a chicken sandwich. Took it home only to find the chicken was dry. Think I will wait a while before I return.

We just discovered this gem. LOVE the Chopped Veggie salad (we add chicken). We keep coming back for that. The staff has never failed to be welcoming and helpful. :) The fish & chips special looks amazing & not greasy -- but I had my tastebuds set on a burger today, so another time! I took off a star because I think, for its location, it's expensive (example...burgers: $12.50 for 6oz to $27 for 15oz) BUT I will say it's ALL TASTY! And worth the occasional splurge. They seem to have a loyal local following, which says a LOT for consistency. ;)

This spot was recommended by a friend. We were seated quickly. The food camp out hot and perfectly cooked to order, the homemade chips were a pleasant surprise. If you are wanting a good juicy burger this is your place. Very casual environment

STILL the famous Bobcat Bite Burger I've been eating the amazing Bobcat Bite Green Chile Cheeseburgers for 31 years; the location from the older (and quite eclectic) location off the highway didn't change these great burgers. I dined last night with 12 from the Santa Fe Foodies, as I have for decades. I ordered the amazing GCC (Green Chile Cheeseburger) med rare, and it was as good as it was three decades ago. I think 10 people at our party ordered this, and everyone seemed to agree it's a classic. My wife had a Patty Melt, which was outstanding! The service by Ashley was fantastic; a plus was that we got our drinks ordered by the previous owner, Bonnie. It was so lovely to see her smiling face; it brought back many memories. All the food came out at once and was perfect. Unlike the old days, Santa Fe Bite serves some yummy desserts, too (in the old days, lollipops were the only offering; they wanted you out so they could serve more burgers in what was a tiny restaurant). Today, in the new location, it's huge compared to an outside setting in nice weather. Carrot Cake and Lemon Curd cake are very good. There is a reason Bobcat Bite is featured in the famous "Hamburger Nation" film and Food Networks #1 best Ever GCCB, don't let the newer name confuse you: this IS the Bobcat Bite.

These types of restaurants are far and few between. The ambience and lighting were welcoming. Staff were extremely friendly and the owner of this restaurant went around the customers tables to check in on them. The food: the meat was extremely fresh tasting. We had the posole and it was very flavorful. Fries and chips were very tasty. On to the dessert- homemade and amazing. So so good!! The banana cream pie was to die for. Will be coming back!!

As you can see, I couldn't wait to take a big bite out my burger!

Simple, really good food. The burgers are the best in town; big and juicy! The Chicken sandwich is terrific, especially when loaded with green chile. Don't expect fancy, but you'll get your money's worth and you won't go hungry after eating here, the staff is pleasant and helpful, especially Diane. The place is where you can go when you're really hungry but you just want to go in your jeans and enjoy a burger without all the pretense of so many of the local restaurants. The restrooms are clean and have chalkboards where you can leave your thoughts...good or bad. Mine were good!

I drove by it as it's one of the first places in the strip mall, then walked by it, and only after I saw a hand full of people (locals) coming out did I even know it was a restaurant. Inside is nicely decorated and clean. It was busy and yet I was promptly greeted and being alone I sat at the bar. (No screaming kids, which is always nice) The wait staff was great. It was about 1 pm so late lunch hour, and everyone was great. If they weren't waiting on someone they were busy tidying up. The 10 ounce chile cheeseburger is huge, and the homemade bun was wonderful. Best one (out of 5) I've had around here yet. I'll come back for sure.

Delicious hamburgers and local beer! Service was friendly and fast, we travel with a dog and they were very accommodating and friendly to our furry baby! Highly recommend this place

This was the rare (and I mean exceedingly rare) restaurant that we actually visited twice while we were in Santa Fe. The reason: their green chile cheeseburger is pretty much as good as everyone says it is. Definitely in a death match with about two other places for the title. We also had a number of their other entrees (pork chop, BLT, steak sandwich, etc.) at this casual, pleasant restaurant. Everything else was pretty good as well, if not special. Their cakes/pies- not our thing. And missed out on their shakes which we heard a lot about. Oh well, next time.

Ask the Community - Santa Fe Bite

    What's for dessert?

I've never thought about dessert at Santa Fe Bite! Maybe an after-dinner stop at an ice cream parlour would be a good option. Usually the green chili cheese burger leaves me not thinking about another calorie-loaded gut bomb!

Are they open "again" , these comments are 3-4 years old?

yes. they are just not super exciting, i'm afraid to say. i've had some hits and misses.

Have they re-opened in the new location yet?

Yes, and are open now that COVIC restrictions allow for limited indoor dining. Excellent take away available too, packaged properly so nothing gets soggy.

    Is this place opened?

Yes-reopened 15 October. Same great burgers, fries, shakes-and breakfast too!

The goodness began with Naomi, who helped me fix an error in my reservation and get a table at a good time tonight. The goodness continued with our server Mitzi, who should be teaching graduate classes in hospitality in every big city. She was friendly without being overbearing, informative without being pedantic, subtle and gracious. Now, the food! My wife chose the vegetarian tasting menu and I had some of each dish: so very flavorful (a green salad with pears, a life-changing mushroom bisque [and I don't like mushrooms!], a chickpea croquette with pickled artichoke hearts and ratatouille, and a substitution of the lemon crepe for three yummy scoops of sorbet and gelato. I chose the scallops, perfectly cooked and moist, over couscous, and a dish of tasty sauteed baby spinach. A wonderful experience, and not overpriced, and everyone treated us sweetly. The musical soundtrack was swinging, and at a compassionate volume. Our first trip to Santa Fe, and we found a gem. Hooray! And thank you, Mitzi!

The interior is classy and very comfortable. We were seated at a nice comfy corner booth. The soft music in the background was soothing and just noticeable enough without being a distraction. We were served complimentary flutes of local sparking wine and a fresh baked bread basket and butter to start. We then ordered cocktails and three starters. First was a split plate of the endive smoked duck salad with a warm bacon vinegarette. Wow...this was nice and refreshing. This was followed by the crab dumplings with fresh corn and peas and lobster sauce. Delicious! The final small plate was seared foie gras on top of banana bread toast. This was very good. I miss foie gras. Unfortunately, it's banned in California. They had a 2023 Sea Smoke "Ten"Pi ot Noir on the wine list. This is one of the best Pinot Noirs produced in California and not easy to find. This was a no doubter and we ordered a bottle to pair with our entrees. My wife ordered their signature elk tenderloin for redemption because the restaurant the night before failed at executing this. I ordered the tomahawk pork chop. This was cooked to perfection with a nice thin crust on the outside and a perfect very light pink juicy center. We ordered a side of brocolini that was pan roasted with shallots and butter. Everything was very good and Michelin grade in our opinion. Lastly we ended the evening and split the tiramasu type of desert. My wife had the expresso martini and I had an 18 year old Glen Morangie scotch neat. The service was excellent and worth the splurge. This is a must when visiting Santa Fe.

My husband ordered the Guajillo Braised Boneless Short Ribs, which were cooked to perfection--tender, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The fry bread and the Picuris salad were excellent and truly memorable. The restaurant is located inside the beautiful Hotel Santa Fe and offers a warm, welcoming atmosphere, with a wood-burning fireplace and a very friendly staff. We were warmly greeted and we're happy. It was on the quiet side since they weren't busy yet. By the time we left, it was busy! We really enjoyed our server, Paris. He was warm and seemed to take a general interest in us. I shared my concerns with him that my pallet doesn't tolerate much spicy. He at all. He assured me there would be no problem in accommodating that. He started us off with a complementary prickly pear & lemonade drink which we loved! He also provided a complementary appetizer which was very unique and made out of avocado and mascarpone and some other items I don't remember. Why I didn't love it, I did enjoy hasting something so unique and different. We started with the best cornbread I've ever had that shaped like a cob of corn with three different kinds of butters. The cornbread is $12 and worth it! Next came the Caesar salad wrapped in some kind of egg roll wrapper and topped with an anchovy mixture. We split it so we each got two rolls which was plenty. We very much enjoyed the flavors in the salad. Don ordered the Wagyu short rib with polenta. While we don't love polenta, this was tasty and complemented the beef nicely. Don said this was the best short rib he ever had. I wish I had a picture of how they presented it. When they took the lid off, there was a lovely steam cloud and it smelled wonderful. I had scallops with each one placed beautifully on top of of really interesting wild rice and finished with toasted coconut. The pineapple salsa and the Hoja Santa Fe Oil were placed in small rounds in the middle of the dish because they had some kick to them. What was especially impressive, is the gentleman who brought out my meal leaned over and said that the Chef wanted to let me know that the two items in the small dishes had heat to them, but I was encouraged to give them a try for the full flavor. Impressive! I was able to enjoy the pineapple salsa, but the oil was a little too spicy for me, but I'm glad I tried it. We would've loved to try dessert, but we were fully satiated by our delicious meal. It was quite an experience and we look forward to returning.

However, I decided to go with an appetizer I've never tried, the Bang Bang Shrimp, which was dynamite! You get four very large, crispy shrimp in a sweet-and-spicy sauce, though I didn't find it spicy, if that's a concern for some. The sauce was very tasty; the shrimp had great flavor, were plump and tender, and they were indeed crispy. This went very well with the arugula under the shrimp. I'd order this again in a second. I then had two tacos à la carte: Baja Fish beer-battered cod and Carnitas. Both were very large and excellent. The pork on the Carnitas was indeed crispy as it should be, and the cod was perfectly fried and delicious. My wife had the Asian Tuna Noodle Crunch Bowl: seared tuna, lo mein noodles. The dressing was superb; the Tuna was perfectly seared raw, and all the items that came with the salad (mango, red cabbage, daikon radish sprouts, kale crunch, edamame, cilantro, peanuts, toasted sesame) made for a lovely and delicious meal. Our server, Tony, did a fantastic job of keeping us all happy. My only 'complaint' was that Boxcar doesn't serve their amazing Brussels sprouts, or at least not all the time. Not on the menu. I told Tony and the manager how much I love them and was told it may come back as a special from time to time. Man, the Boxcar Brussels sprouts are amazing!
