I went with a number of friend and colleagues while I was in Dallas to The Ranch. One of my coworkers not only recommended it, but made reservations for all of us to go to dinner. We were a party of 5 and when we came in we were immediately sat a table. This happened even though the place was packed! Loved the atmosphere... very country... very rustic... very homey and Texas feel to it but somehow a refined rustic. Wood everywhere! Fireplaces! Fire-pits! It gave it a warmth both in temperature and ambience that was very appreciated on a cold night. Our waiter was fantastic. We had a number of apps to share including the Lump Crab Dip made with gulf crab, spinach, roasted mushrooms on a grilled flatbread. We also enjoyed the Texas Gulf Ceviche made with redfish, Gulf shrimp, blood orange, cucumbers, avocado, fresno peppers, pineapple, crisp corn chips. Our favorite shared app was the queso blanco with picadillo... omg i pigged out in that. We all had adult beverages, i had the Twisted Texas Lemonade... so wonderful! The highlight for me, though, was the Mesquite Grilled Double Cut Bone in Pork Chop. It was chile brined and had a carnitas style rub service with natural au jus. It was possibly the best pork chop i have ever eaten! I had also incredibly creamy mashed potatoes as the side. I went here last night with a group of 5, and our waiter was a very friendly and helpful person! I'm unsure of his name, but he was very attentive and answered my tables questions. Secondly, the food was very delicious! I got the barbacoa stroganoff, which is basically pulled brisket and very light and thin noodles. The flavor was amazing and unique. My friend got the Baby Back ribs, which she said was her personal favorite ribs ever. The Mac-n-cheese was creamy, but I thought it was missing a little something... Still, the dessert, a chipotle chocolate layer cake, made up for it more than well. The "chipotle" part may be a little off putting, but the slight spice of the peppers elegantly adds to the richness of the chocolate cake. The creamy frosting between each layer was exquisite, adding a sweetness to the spice and delightful bitterness of the cake. The staff forgot a couple of our items, but they did get those corrected fairly quick. The food is good. I didn't have a steak, as a went for lunch. But I wish I had. We took the grandkids to the ranch for their birthday and it was absolutely amazing! I've eaten a lot of steak in my life and I can't remember any that was better than The Ranch. We had a great time as we spent more than two hours in the restaurant. There was no need to rush. We had the big combo appetizer and added a few elk tacos so everyone could have one. The onion rings were cooked to perfection. The feast was plenty of food for 5 people and probably a bargain. Best of all, you get the 33 oz tomahawk ribeye. Cooked to medium rare but with an exquisite char. The spices on outside popped in your mouth with bursts of flavor. The garlic stuffed filet was also a dream come true. Juicy, tender and loaded with flavor. The strip steak with any of their three butters was a delight to my taste buds. The asparagus was, well, asparagus. My grandson gobbled all the mac & cheese so fast I didn't get a taste. The brussel sprouts had a wonderful sweet and savory taste. Finished off the night with a couple of whiskey bread puddings and CAPPOW!!! What an incredible meal. The restaurant is very nice and clean. Loud, but in a fun way. The Ranch has a Texas/southwestern feel to its design but also is dimly lit so it can feel formal too - which is unique. The service at The Ranch is very good - however for whatever reason, my steaks tend to come out more rare than I would like pretty much every time I go there. So I really have to go high maintenance mode with my server when ordering in an effort to prevent that - and even then I have had to send it back (once I even got into an exchange/quasi-argument with a server who had an "this is how we do it" attitude and it still came out blood red). What a wonderful Sunday afternoon we spent at The Ranch recently! We were in the Las Colinas area looking for my wife's new office location and decided to have a relaxing "late lunch/early dinner" visit to The Ranch. It was a beautiful afternoon. For our entrees, my wife decided on the chicken fried steak, and I opted for grilled Texas Redfish. After a short wait, with a lot of wonderful conversation, our beautifully presented entrees were delivered to our table. The entrees were plated very skillfully. My wife's chicken fried steak was accompanied with rich creamy mashed potatoes and garlic sauteed green beans. My grilled Texas Redfish platted was accompanied with a flavorful citrus dressing and a cilantro lime rice. Both our entrees were so delicious. My wife loved her chicken fried steak and the sides. The mashed potatoes were decadently rich and creamy, and the green beans were sauteed to perfection. My Texas Redfish was grilled to perfection. The salad and cilantro lime rice were the perfect accompaniment to the grilled redfish. The portions were just the right size where we didn't feel too stuffed. We shouldn't have done it, but we did, we ordered a dessert to share. After looking at the menu, we both decided on the Whiskey Bread Pudding on the recommendation of our server. I was made from buttery croissants and topped with The Ranch's signature whiskey blend custard and whiskey anglaise. The Ranch is a casual though upscale restaurant in Las Colinas.We went to celebrate Valentines Day. We ordered a few appetizers. The Cevice' and the fried green tomatoes. Others with me are almost all of the Ceviche'. They liked it but didn't love it. It was the sauce they weren't keen on. The fried green tomatoes were really good. They sat on a roumelade sauce that was heavenly. After the tomatoes were gone, we scraped the place for that sauce. Now the meats. We ordered the Cowboy Feast for 4 of us. The 32oz tomahawk ribeye was so rare and so fatty we didn't all of it. The sirloin was awesome and we ate every bite. Most of us liked the garlic filet. What was weird is the just stuff whole garlic cloves into the steak. When one fell out it freaked me out for a second until I realized what it was. The sides: Brussels Sprouts and whipped potatoes were amazing, although there wasn't enough of either for 4 people. The asparagus was good as well. The cornbread was delicious! The vanilla bean cheesecake was yummy. We highly recommend it. Our server was great. No issue there. Our overall feeling is that the Cowboy Feast is overpriced for what you receive. He came back for regular refills, he was friendly, he even asked us if we want to go drinks at the end (which nobody does anymore) we said no but really appreciated the ask! We had the crab dip which is always incredible and a huge reason why we continue to come back. It has lump crab, mushrooms. Deliciousness. We ordered the cowboys feast which sounds like a LOT of food but it was the perfect amount for 3 of us! As sides we had the chimichurri rice, macaroni and cheese, asparagus, and loaded mashed potatoes. There were some sauces to accompany the meats (chimichurri, some sauce with a nice spice and I did not try the third one.) We ended the meal with the pecan pie. Deliciousness! 10/10 recommend. Early dinner and while the food tasted pretty good, a few things they need to work on: no bread with your $40-80 steak, not even an offer for any; sides are NOT sharable sides like at most expensive steakhouses, and the server described; cocktails didn't come out before meal and one side was cold so main entree was almost eaten before new side came out, still not hot; everything was lukewarm. Felt a little rushed even tho the place was half full. Three, count them THREE, hostesses standing there - looking bored - as we walked in. Our server had some energy, had no idea her name tho till after we got out printed receipt, but the vibe doesn't fit the price tag: servers not in uniforms, and since when is (guest) ripped jeans shorts, tshirts and ball caps part of a nice steakhouse? Ambiance: All different kinds of lighting from dim lighting to natural sunlight. All kinds of seating from inside (table chairs, high tops, booths) to outside tables and chairs. There is a louder noise level coming from guests, to live music, to soft music playing on speakers. Service: The server was super friendly and very accommodating. She constantly checked up on us and ensured that our dining experience went well which I really appreciated. Onion ring (appetizer): It looks aesthetically pleasing and tastes super good too! There were thick cut onion rings stacked up on top of each other. It was nice and crispy but the batter itself wasn't too special. The chipotle ranch was a classic and the ketchup had a little kick flavor to it too! Chicken fried chicken: The chicken wasn't really crispy but it was very juicy inside. It had really good flavor but the gravy didn't have as much flavor to it. The mashed potatoes it came with were just incredible. Lots of whipped butter and salt which just makes everything taste better. The green beans were seasoned perfectly and also very yummy but a tiny portion. Bread pudding: This dessert was so tasty but Id say the bread pudding itself was a little more on the chewy side. But it had such a good flavor to it.
