What an experience. I dined at Pappas Bros. Steakhouse for my first dinner after landing in Dallas and it set an impossibly high bar for the rest of my meals during my Dallas trip. The food and service here is absolutely incredible. That said, given how pricey the meal is, you'll certainly want to reserve this meal for celebrations and special occasions. Between the four in our party, we shared the following: jumbo lump crab cakes ($36.95), prime tomahawk ($194.95), prime New York strip 14oz ($64.95), jumbo asparagus ($17.95), roasted wild mushrooms ($21.95), creamed spinach ($17.95), and a New York-style cheesecake ($18.00) for dessert to share. If you're a wine enthusiast, there's a Bible sized wine menu available here to thumb through. Our server made it a point to emphasize the scale and expansiveness of their wine list. The list goes on and on -- covering every imaginable region of the world and year, and as a casual wine drinker, I was simply overwhelmed. However, if you're looking for cocktails instead, any "standard" cocktail you can think of is available. I ordered an Old Fashioned and it was stiff, yet nicely balanced. Moving on to the food, I have never had crab cakes as good as the ones here -- this appetizer is a must order. Most crab cakes I've had have too much bread crumb fillers and tend to be a bit bland. The ones here contain generous amounts of large, chunky crab meat, are well-seasoned, and are perfectly fried. The tomahawk steak is a serious show-stopper. If there's one cut to order, it's this one. Carved table-side, you really get to appreciate the size and beauty of this cut of meat. The meat is expertly cut off from the bone, and I love the distribution of rendered fat on each piece of meat. Some steakhouses offer a bunch of different sauces and dips to go with the meat, but none of that is available here: you're here for the meat, and you can truly appreciate the flavor and quality of the dry-aged meat in its purest form. All you really need is some salt and you've got the perfect bite. The steak here is delicious; no notes. Although the steak is the clear star of the show at Pappas Bros., the sides cannot be skipped over (not that you'd want to, given how delicious everything sounds). I was tempted to order the large tower of golden onion rings that many other tables seemed to be ordering, but ultimately settled on some of the other vegetable offerings. The creamed spinach is rich and decadent. One order is easily enough for a group to share. The jumbo asparagus is honestly some of the longest and largest spears of asparagus I've ever seen. They had a nice snappy bite to them. Although you'll probably be absolutely stuffed by the end of your meal, I encourage you to order at least a dessert to split. Although I only had a chance to try the New York-style cheesecake, it's something I would happily order again. The gargantuan size of the slice of cheesecake is enough for a group of 8 to split. Like everything else on the menu, the cheesecake is rich. I appreciate that the cake itself was not overly sweet. The whipped cream on top was light and fluffy. Due to World Cup, it's our first time to been Texas. And Pappas Bros is our third dine in meal, after Texas Road house and Crown Block. I drove from Art Area. The steak is outstanding and awsome, comparing to Crown Block. We arrived around 7:07PM, stayed here like 78 minutes. Papas really surprised me. It was our first visit there. My wife took me there for Father's Day and we were expecting somewhere between Longhorn and Perry's on a bad day. Not even close to Longhorn and I put it up there with Ruth's Chris and even some of the more exclusive places like Jeff Rubys in Cincinnati. My steak melted in my mouth and those skillet potatoes could easily be paired with eggs as well. The portion sizes were more than enough for me. In fact those potatoes did go well with eggs the next morning and my leftover Waygu Strip. I highly recommend this place. The atmosphere was relaxed and not stuffy like some high end places. Two of us were seated at a table on time and we had drinks while waiting for the 3rd person. That 3rd person arrived with 2 more guest. Without any issues, our new party of 5 was moved to a larger table to accommodate everyone. We all had a great time. We communed, joked, laughed, and ate hard, It was one of those rare moments in life worth appreciating. Everyone's food arrived correctly as ordered and was fantastic! The porterhouse was perfect with a lovely crust, pink center, and savory seasoning. It melted away as I chewed each bite. This is the kind of steak one longs for in life and will quench that carnivorous desire once consumed. There were plenty of sides for all of us to share. As strange as it may seem, the turtle gumbo stood out the most and was a winner. It came with some sherry on the side to mix in. We had the lobster bisque and scallops to start the meal. The lobster bisque was a well seasoned and they add pepper to the dish table side if you want. The scallops were perfectly cooked and the flavorful juice/butter soaked into the bread. The whole dish went well together and definitely got my appetite ready. Thursday night dinner with coworkers We had a private room for our group of 17. Favorite appetizers: crab cakes - jumbo lump crab sent from heaven above. Battered and fried to perfection. This is situated between 2 highways and a few other sister restaurants. There's valet and regular parking - walking in, it feels like a fancy and high class experience already. We were seated immediately and our waiter was quick to stop by. He was excellent and clearly has been in high class hospitality for decades. The bread they bring to the table is an entire little loaf, it's served steaming hot. Soft and airy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. We skipped appetizers and had a filet, ribeye, and lobster Mac n cheese. The filet... so so so delicious. The ribeye was fantastic too. They're cooked so simply you can tell the cut of meat is truly the best quality. One of the best filets I've had. The Mac n cheese was good - not too rich or cheesy. He made a reservation on my open table account, I don't think we needed one- there were a lot of available tables when we got there (around 8pm on a Friday). The hospitality is overflowing. The ambiance is nice, unfortunately I had my back to the view so I didn't really get to take in much besides a corner. (Nobody's fault except my must-face-the-door dinner date). What I walked past seemed lovely. We were fully informed about every aspect of the menu, and any questions we had were answered confidently. They have in-house Master sommeliers for wine selection (the catalogue of options was formidable). My fiance and I are steak snobs - we love going to steakhouses and cooking steak at home, and I just don't feel like this place is worth the hype at all. The menu is nothing special - and so much of it has bacon in it, which we do not eat ( beware that even the fries are cooked in bacon grease ) . We started off with the deviled eggs with lobster - and while it's yummy, it's not something worth coming here for . I did like their complimentary bread. The steaks were just ok. We both got medium well . I got a filet and my fiance got a New York strip - his came out far more charred . The pacing of the courses was good and everyone was very attentive. My Caesar salad was ok but nothing special. I usually get the rib eye and it's always on point. Never skip the lobster bisque. It is honestly the best I have ever had and I will never not order it on a visit. Took my girlfriend out to celebrate my birthday. I made a reservation ahead of time and the day of the reservation I received a call from the restaurant to confirm my reservation and birthday celebration. Prior to ordering, I shared to the waiter that we wouldn't be drinking and that we wouldn't be eating pork. The waiter was quick to share what could and couldn't be substituted from pork. I reviewed the menu ahead of time and knew exactly what I wanted, the 14oz Dry Aged Prime NY Strip. I also ordered a side of Au Gratin Potato and my girlfriend ordered the 8oz Filet Mignon, both medium rare. While we waited for our food, we skipped out on any appetizers and enjoyed the complimentary bread and butter - I wish I took some home with me. I'd come back just for that bread. When we received our food, the steaks were a little pinker than we preferred but the food came on piping hot plates so the residual heat cooked the steaks to perfection. Normally I am not too big on dry aged steaks, previous experiences were too funky of a flavor profile for me but that was not the case here. My steak had the perfect balance of dry aged funk and tenderness. I would describe the flavor as pairing a slice of blue cheese with the beefiness of the steak. The next time I crave a dry aged steak, I know where to go. My girlfriend's Filet Mignon was incredibly flavorful and tender. I actually preferred her steak over mine but overall, both steaks were delicious. The potatoes were piping hot and I burned my mouth many times but it was so worth it. For dessert we ordered the Chocolate Turtle Mousse cake - which was free of charge as this was my birthday celebration meal. The dessert was well thought out and each bite encapsulated what a bite of a chocolate turtle would be like. It was so rich that we had to take it to go. We ended up taking most of our meal to go due to the large portion sizes. Pappas Bros blew my expectations out of the water. This is my new favorite steakhouse and I will definitely be celebrating my happy occasions here from now on. read more

I've come to this restaurant multiple times, mostly when I'm in the area. Every time I come, I'm able to sit at the bar and not have to wait. And the food is actually really good. The wedge salad was fantastic And the ribeye was a 7.5 Dinner for one . 140 coconuts. read more
