I have a tough time giving something 5 stars when only eating somewhere 1 time . I feel it doesn't give me the right to completely love it or completely hate it. BUT THIS PLACE!!!! I'll be there in the morning, and it will be good, as it always is, each time we come in. My father and I have 1 place we will go eat breakfast locally and this is it. I've eaten Menudo from many different places but this is (IMO) the most flavorful , hands down. Only place that rivals it, is in Bryan,Tx. Maybe it's just me, but I love the cleanliness of the Menudo. It only has what needs to be in it and once everything is mixed in , cilantro , lime, jalapenos and onions it holds it's good flavor where as some others ibe eaten lose it once the lime is squeezed in. If you go on a Sunday, best to get there before 10 AM. It will be crowded and the parking lot is tight. We always park next door and avoid the closer parking lot all together. The line will become so long it extends out of the door and if the weather is sketchy then again this would make your visit less pleasant so get there early to beat the church crowds on Sunday's. My daughter (12) surprisingly loves this place as well. She's never had more authentic Mexican food and if you haven't been in a place like this late at night with the jukebox playing loudly, songs in Spanish then you may not appreciate it as much as i do on Sunday mornings when they seem to " keep the party going" by having their jukebox play at a level that some people may not care for. I personally dont mind since I've learned to enjoy some of the favorite bands they play on their. My daughter has as well. I've always appreciated the fact that when ordering and wanting to add ingredients to my eggs, they've always accommodated me. I love Nopalitos and I've had good and bad as well. This place once again does the simple things really well and cooking cactus seems to be a simple thing, some places can't but this place does very well, on everything I have eaten so far and I am easily giving 5 STARS because I keep going back and they continue to please. read more

What can i say this place, it has become a weekend ritual, and they make it easy. I tend to come mid morning or earlier so my menu always involves breakfest huevos Rancheros; sometimes with a pork chop, and its great! The hard thing about ordering this in most reastruants, are that potatoes are always predone cooked through so when asking for crispy they tend to be burnt and soft.. but this place makes them perfect. Its a classic south texas hispanic breakfest. The porkchop when ordered on the side is cooked perfect which is a feat on its on in someplaces because of the thinness of breakfest porkchops, but not here perfect flavor, juicy, not dried out. I went mid breakfast time on a Saturday (around 10:30-11) and it was packed! You don't put your name down on a list or anything, you just kind of tell the host that you're there and he keeps track of who's next. Kind of hectic, but the man was nice and it was only a 10 minute wait. The tables are very packed together, so if you don't like that steer away. Food: Ehh, I was not a fan. The fajitas in my tacos were cut too big and were slightly burnt. My brother got the enchiladas and he said his plate was very good and his fajitas not burnt. Rice and beans were very good. Lemonade was wayyyy too sweet. Service: Very good. Host was nice, waitress was nice, and cashier was prompt. Overall, okay experience. read more

We all have those Restaurants that we went to as children and had laughs and made memories with family and friends. Well this was my boyfriends place. So even though it is not my cup of tea, I go because he likes it. The food is just okay and I am not a fan of places that start to run out of product before 6pm. (Like Caldo de Res or Pollo). You can find better food at a dirty taco truck. But I like to hear his stories about the good old days (we are in our late 20's) lol. Well, last night will be the last time we ever visit this place. Because as people the bad times can wipe out the good memories sometimes. When we yelpers go out to eat we go for the experince, the atmoshpere, the food!! So we sit down and they are not busy at all. As we walk in (its a sit your self kinda place) and sit down it takes about five mins to be greeted (usually if I am not greeted or aknowledged in 2-3 mins depending on the situation i am out). So the waitress takes our drink order but the whole time looks at my boyfriend. Let me rewind here give you alittle more background. I have Cancer and have lost my hair. So I am getting use to being looked at with worried faces, people crying around me but being given a disgusted look is not one I am use to yet. But i refuse to live my life in around my cancer. Okay back to last night. So she brings back our drinks and sets mine down next too my bf. So then she takes our order still looking at my head as if I have the plague. So i tell her I have cancer, she leaves and as she goes to where someother waitress are standing. She starts to speak in Spanish telling them how ugly that boygirl is am and saying she has lice. So she leaves and comes back with our queso and I ask for pickled Jalepenos and she ignores me and starts to talk to my bf again. So I have had it by this time. So has my boyfriend ask to speak to the manager, by this time i am in tears. As he walks over My bf notices a long hair on the jalepenos. So he call his attention to this small issue first. Several family owned restaurants and no Yelp reviews to be found. How can that be??? This was my first visit . II will return. I normally wouldn't write a review based on one visit but we sampled several dishes and since it is worthy of a repeat visit I wanted to share my experience. This is a family owned tex-mex restaurant that has several locations in the Houston area. I visited the Pasadena location at 2823 Preston Ave. located not far from Beltway 8. Overall initial impression: clean, very reasonable prices, quick service and friendly staff. The dishes appeared appetizing and were of generous proportions. We sampled several dishes that were quite good but the runaway hit was the salsa, chips and homemade flour tortillas. The kind of stuff you just have to tell someone about. Queso dip is served alongside the gratis chips and salsa and also very tasty. The entrees were as I said, attractive and generous but the rice would have benefitted from a bit more flavor infusion of broth and the beans, a bit of smokey pork flavor would have made them superb. The fajita meat was tender and flavorful but the side of guacamole was just so-so. The chile gravy for the enchiladas was not my favorite but very edible. Most interesting to me was the preparation of the carne guisada. I was prepared for the usual broth-y sauce accompanying the meat but theirs was thickened and flavored with a bit of chili powder. I was skeptical but found I really really liked it. This establishment has many dishes to offer. Traditional Tex Mex fare, several seafood plates, and a large array of ala carte items. Also, several daily specials and what appears to be a very reasonable breakfast menu serving the expected egg entrees but, with the added options of napolitos and beef tongue. On our next visit we look forward to trying the aquas frescas and Horchata. The iced tea is served in a large glass and the Coke by the can with a cup of ice. No gratis drink refills but admittedly the tea was in a very large glass. Breakfast served before 11:30. I absolutely ADORE this place! After seeing it packed for months and months I now understand exactly why. Pricing is great and portions are huge! The staff is also very kind always checking up to see if everything is okay. Also my friend ordered coffee and they were so kind as to offer a little dish full of half and half packets and also free ice cold water! I thought that was over the top and so so nice! Most places don't even offer it even if you ask and you usually wind up paying for a water or coke because ya know you need a refreshing drink with some of these meals haha. Well for starters I didnt know about this place for the longest time. A friend said their breakfast tacos were amazing, so I gave then a try, man I wanted to slap my friend for not telling me about this place sooner! The bfast tacos are amazing! So far Ive had: flautas, taco salad, caldo de pollo, caldo de res, migas, tostada/chalupas, tacos...You get the idea, its authentic. The parking can sometimes get hectic/hard/crowded but I believe the dance hall is owned by the same owner so i see people parked there. Lemme say I'm kinda embarrassed i haven't eaten here bfor but it's hard to pick a Mexican restaurant in Pasadena Texas, it's like choosing a Baptist Church in east Texas. THEY ARE EVERY WHERE. Back to it, this place will become a staple in my diet. It's clean, it's spacious, there's pretty waitresses, parking is decent enough. It will get busy so make sure u plan to eat before the rush. Menu is full of options so it'll take me a while to speak intelligently on it in its entirety. I ate Menudo which was really good, maybe needed to be cut up in smaller pieces but still a very good taste to it all, and servings are plentiful. Without getting too long winded here let's just say this place is well worth the trip, again and again. They cover all their bases, with tacos a la cart, an even baked goods for dessert.
