Our table tried the spinach enchiladas, blue corn enchiladas (beef & avodado), and green chile stew. All dishes were quite good and the service was excellent. The place had an interesting vibe to it too and the deserts looked wonderful, but we did not save room. The green chile stew tasted more like tortilla soup and the spice level was not high, but all of the food was good. I normally wouldn't comment on the obligatory beens and rice, but they were noteworthy too. This was at the Bernalillo location, and we would definitely go back. read more

While The Range Cafe may have expanded to other locations in recent years, the Bernalillo location is still the best. The food is consistently good, served hot in a timely manner with good service, etc. Traditional New Mexico fare with a twist is served on colorful Fiestaware platters in the large dining room that's often quite crowded. We usually go for breakfast/brunch and I was so happy to learn you can get a "small" order of their Home on the Range Oatmeal that comes with strawberries, walnuts and a scoop of cinnamon ice cream. It's the best. And the smaller portion means I can get my favorite oatmeal AND the blue corn pinon pancakes, or the biscuit with sausage gravy, or another one of my favorite breakfast treats. In addition to the restaurant, this location has a fun gift shop full of New Mexico novelties ranging from red chile wine to high end handmade pottery from various New Mexico pueblos. They sell their bluecorn pinon pancake mix in the gift shop too! This is a good place to take out of town guests who want a New Mexico experience, and the drive from Albuquerque can be very pretty if you take the scenic route. read more

I had avoided going to one of these expecting less than average food. We just stopped for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is quite pleasant. All the staff was friendly and helpful. I have a limited review because we only got huevos rancheros but as it is our favorite, we are picky. The beans were tasty, no lard I think. The green salsa was excellent. The eggs were cooked to perfection and to our delight, the dish came with lettuce and tomato. I can't say the coffee was great but it was acceptable if a little pricey. I visited The Range while on vacation in the area after seeing the balloon festival in October. Needed a cool place to check out w/the famliy and the range had a lot of options to suit everyone's tastes. First off, the decor is pretty cool/funky. I won't say anything else about it and let you check it out for yourself. Second, excellent margaritas!!! 3rd, our server Jesus couldn't have been more attentive, or better in any way. We had a baby in our party and he was exceptional in attending to his needs as well as bringing us extra napkins & pretty much just being available and answering any questions we had about the menu. The food, WOW, the food was fantastic. Do you know how hard it is for my family to go out to a meal and EVERYONE absolutely loves what they ordered? Well, this happened at the range. Every single item we ordered was just awesome. I am not a fan of enchiladas usually and as a vegetarian usually feel that most restaurants don't know how to properly cook their veggies or flavor them. The range decided it would take on that challenge and surprised me with one of the best enchiladas I've ever had. Honestly it was unique, full of flavor and I almost licked the plate. We took dessert home because we simply had no room left that night. I will say all of their desserts looked absolutely delicious! Sadly I live in another state but I believe this restaurant will become a staple for us should we visit the area again. I highly would recommend them for breakfast, lunch and dinner!! read more

Omg. Incredible food and incredible customer service! Seriously though we just moved here a month ago and have been making it a point to try a bunch of different places and this is our favorite by far. Our waitress was Alicia and she was absolutely amazing! Place has a great atmosphere and even better food. I got the bacon pasta my husband got the pork tenderloin and my mother in law got the enchiladas and we all loved our food. The chips and Queso is soooo good! Margaritas were on the small side but still tasty. They have a very extensive drink menu and the deserts are all fresh and tasty. Over all just an awesome place! Our newest, favorite spot for breakfast in the area! We went to The Range Cafe for breakfast Sunday morning and fell in love with the place. For a Sunday morning, they weren't too busy (the wait was less than 5 min), but it got busier by the time we left. The decor inside is eclectic, with rustic looking tables and chairs and local art featured on the walls (kinda cool). They also have a little store to the left as you walk in the main entrance with a bunch of New Mexico things you can purchase from alcohol (wine and spirits) to shirts to postcards (a little bit of everything). It kind of reminded us of a New Mexican Cracker Barrel (a little shop to peruse while you wait for your table). I ordered the blue corn pancakes and the hubby ordered the New Mexico Benny (with chorizo) - both were awesome! We ordered a biscuit on the side, just to try (since others commented on it), and it was pretty good as well. We will definitely be going back and would highly recommend. read more

I had the chicken-fried steak that came smothered in a chili gravy with papas and two eggs. I upgraded my bread to blue corn pancakes with blueberries and piñon nuts! Omg!! So very delicious! Service was very attentive in both the coffee and water department. ... and we are difficult, because we drink like Sahara camels!! Oh yes ... this was delicious! Great service by Jesus, and seriously delicious Mexican and New Mexican food. The homemade tomatillo salsa was the best thing, and was just amazing. Everything was cooked well, flavored with precision and accented with fresh ingredients and herbs. I wanted a little but of everything, so I got the combo platter. Chili relleno has delicious white cheddar cheese and a nicely spicy chili. The shredded beef enchiladas were flavorful and juicy. And the taco was perfect with some additional tomatillo salsa. My hubby got the burrito and practically licked his place. On our way out, we saw all the plates signed by famous people - apparently we're not the only ones who have found it! Susanne & I celebrated our first wedding anniversary (7/22/19) at this kitschy bistro in historic Bernalillo, NM. Great service (Jesus), tasty cocktails, delicious food, and the trademark decorations here. We started our feast with fantastic chips and salsa. The Range salsa rivals my wife's homemade version! It's really wonderful! We actually bought an extra pint and additional chips to bring to our casita getaway in nearby Placitas! You can never have enough chips & salsa! ($3.99) We ordered the green chili Mac & cheese. Quite a large portion, it's definitely shareable. If you're a fan of green chili, ask for a bit more on the side to mix in. We did. (They add $.99 to the bill). I really enjoyed Tom's Meatloaf and mashed potatoes, green beans, and brown mushroom gravy. My wife ran out of appetite before tasting her green chili cheeseburger! In the box for later enjoyment! It certainly looked good! Finally, we got a slice of "Death by Lemon" cake which I inhaled after we returned home last night. The cake is like lemon mouse in pie crust, with thinly-sliced almonds garnishing this scrumptious dessert. My bride took some photos which I'll get later. read more
