No wait time and place was consistent with customers. Very clean and and so were the restrooms. Service was excellent, we had Amber who was so nice, well knowledgeable of the menu items, and very attentive. Food was brought out hot and the kids plate was generously served. Decent food, decent drinks, kind of pricey. Biggest problem is we had a bartender as a server, so our service was not facilitated well. He had to rush and make drinks and then rush and serve four different tables. Who's bright idea is it to do that to a bartender? Mgmt needs to rethink this because we we waited 15 min to get a welcoming another 15 for drinks another for food. I kept waving him down but I could understand why he didn't try to make eye contact because he was slammed! The Range: Albuquerque's most infuriating restaurant. This place has good food and nice people but they manage to screw up the experience almost every time. Tonight we pulled in a little after 8:00. A table of ten walked in just before us. We never spoke to them, stood away from them, did everything we could to be obvious we weren't with them. They were sat, and we waited. After a while, a waiter came up and asked if we weren't going to join our group... My wife asked if we could be seated by the fireplace, which is in the bar area. Of course, but the fireplace is off. The man seating us tried to turn it on and finally said he needed to find the key to turn the gas on. He left, and that was the last time we saw him. After a while, another man showed up and was surprised we were there because "the bar is closed, but OK." He took our order and also offered to turn the fireplace on because "what's the point of sitting here otherwise?" Guess what? He couldn't turn it on either. I have ordered the same order as take-out probably about 10 times at least. And to my surprise my order has been screwed up probably about three or four times! They have the best blue berry blue corn pancakes with pinenuts they're great! I just wish they could read instructions. I ordered bacon extra bacon and I paid for it and it wasn't in my order! Very disappointed in that. I called the store they refunded the money for the bacon. This was a take out order. I wish they would make sure the order is correct before sending it out! It's bad enough that it happened once it really should never have happened again. They need to slow down and pay attention to what they're doing! There is no way to order an egg with your pancakes. The Range Cafe is one of those local gems which deserves all the love it receives. They make all of their meals with local, fresh ingredients and it seems everything is from made from scratch. I've had a wide variety of their dishes, and have enjoyed all of them. Most recently, their seasonal DAT Sandwich is excellent with straight-off-the-carcass turkey, cranberry sauce, lettuce, tomato on sourdough bread. Like all of their meals, their salads are very generous. Their menu has a nice balance of decadent and healthy choices. A nice mix of New Mexican and American cuisine. Their desserts are made in-house and very good. They will modify a meal for you, and get it right. All of their meals are reasonably priced and generous. If you haven't been to any of The Range locations, check out one of them. It's well worth it. And if you have been to at least one, but not to the original location in downtown Bernalillo, definitely head over there. Any of their locations are great for becoming a regular. A side note regarding their Housemade Granola bowl: They have a wonderful helping of seasonal fresh fruit, vanilla yogurt and homemade granola in their Housemade Granola bowl. Within the past six months, they started offering a small bowl for $6.99, I'm guessing, because their large bowl, at $8.99, is quite large. I always had to ask for a to-go box. The small bowl is larger than what is offered anywhere else locally, and is generous. read more

Cute and kitschy. It felt like a local-ish Dennys or Perkins but...you know...good. The decor is adorable, with flying cows hanging from the ceiling and small toy ovens along the walls. Service was great. We were seated immediately on a Saturday morning. I ordered the blue corn pancakes with blue berries and pinon and a side of bacon. The pancakes were really quite good. I might have liked them better without the pinon, actually. But that is a personal choice. They are a great option on the menu! read more

perfect morning! we sat a table in bar area by a sunny window. nice young man made us Lizard Bloody Mary, so good, and tequila sunrise, beautiful. I had the Basic breakfast. nothing basic about it. must have been 3 fluffy scrambled eggs, had green chili sauce on top. four huge slices of the BEST bacon I ever had, potatoes and a hot flor tortilla with butter. it was enough for breakfast the next morning! Food: the food was really tho only thing that was good about this place. We had eaten there a long time ago and decided to try it again, but no thanks. Service: so we had a waiter that didn't want to come to our table, he was nice but never came to the table. He kept refilling the drinks at the table next to us, but didn't come to ours. It was honestly very odd. I eventually had to get up and go ask someone to refill our drinks. At that time the manager (I am guessing who that was) came over apologized and gave us a free dessert and a different waitress. At that point though, it was too late. I ordered the breakfast burrito with bacon and Christmas. The chile is amazing. It has heat, but is not too hot! The flavor of the chile is great. Always make a point of visiting the Range Cafe on trips to Albuquerque. Their Huevous Rancheros have been voted Best in ABQ many times over. I tend to agree. My other favorites are the meatloaf, and the best green chile cheesburger I have had. Desserts are in a category by themselves. On the way to the seating area, you pass by the dessert case. This is one place you definitely want to finish off your meal with something from that case. Also recommend, if you happen to see one available, taking home one of their famous pecan sticky buns. But beware, if you see some there, and you know you want one (or more), order it when you order your meal, or they may not still be there when you leave!! The decor is whimsical. What in the world happened to this location? We used to come here all the time and the food was amazing. I live about 3 min away so this has always been my go to, considering the menu is so diverse. Yesterday the hubby and I went in for lunch, and were horribly disappointed. We felt so badly for our server Steven as he did everything to try and make the experience better. We started off with drinks, I ordered a cherry Italian cream soda, the hubby ordered the hot chocolate. My cherry soda had hardly any syrup (Steven said he used the last squirt) so he brought over some vanilla syrup. My husbands hot chocolate was basically steamed milk with a drop of chocolate and no whip cream. Steven explained that the new kitchen manager only allows them to use one pump in an effort to save money, and they were out of whip cream. He brought over a little carafe of chocolate, but we could never get the taste right. We started to get worried about our food considering the changes made to the drinks by the kitchen manager. The nightmare had just begun.... I ordered the Papas Con Carne and the Hubby ordered the Basic Breakfast with a pancake on the side. His bacon was soggy and barely cooked, and the sausage (we're almost certain) was raw. The pancake was thankfully cooked all the way. Both of us received steamed or maybe boiled potatoes that were not even cooked half way. I asked for a side of crispy cooked potatoes which Steven very kindly brought out. Everything was eh... and then the most disgusting thing ever happened. I was eating one of the potatoes and as soon as I started chewing it, I realized it was rotten. I immediately spit it out, and it took every bit of my soul not to puke. I had only eaten about half of my food and after that I completely gave up. Considering how freaking pricey this place is I expect so much more of it. I would much rather wait 30 minutes, and receive well cooked (not rotten) food. Being from the hospitality industry it makes me wonder how disgusting their kitchen must be?! They're lucky no one has reported them to the health department in my opinion! The worst part is the kitchens complete lack of quality control reflects badly on the servers. My husband and I thankfully understand that things like this are not the servers fault. We left Steven a $25 tip on a $28 bill as a thank you for his great service (considering the circumstances he's left to deal with). The crappy thing is the cooks, no matter how bad the quality, will continue to get paid their usual salary. I hope whoever the new "kitchen manager" is, reads this and realizes how awful things are. Never wasting my money at this location again. What a complete and utter disappointment. read more

We'd been going to the Range Cafe on Menaul (RIP) for years. Consistently delicious. For our 16th wedding anniversary we ordered from DoorDash, and had it delivered from the Wyoming location. Uh, YUM. My rellenos traveled well, my husband's chimichanga still had a little bit of crisp when it arrived. To be fair, it was smothered in tasty green chile sauce. The blue corn crust on the rellenos was crispy, the cheese was perfectly melted and the beans were delicious. The arroz verde was a little crunchy in places, but not worth deducting any stars. Third generation New Mexican, here and that green chile was tops. Good lord, I mean just a bit hot, hot enough to make you break a sweat, but not too hot that you can't taste anything after the first bite. It was beautifully plated, giving us that special dining out feel. COVID-19 did not ruin our romantic anniversary dinner. Thank you for that, Range. I will stick with my two thumbs up.
