Great Restaurant! I was recommended to go this place by a restaurant owner in Tallahassee who we happened to mention that we were going to Destin for the weekend. He said that he was pretty picky and this was a place not to miss. They have a limited menu 5-6 entrees only, but they do them right. They have some about 4 menu items that are regulars and one or two specials. Great drinks, the Bloody Mary being his personal favorite. The Red Bar is right off of the beach and parking is limited but the wait and hassle of finding that spot was well worth it! They do have a shuttle bus to help with that issue, but we lucked out and found one next to the restaurant. We went with another couple that we met for our weekend away, who had been going to Destin area for years, heard of it but had never been there. They were eager to try a new place and the Yelp rating was encouraging as well. We ordered drinks trying some of their speciality drinks including the Bloody Mary which comes with a garden of veggies marinating in this tasty drink. The veggies included, the normal celery and a number of olives plus a few caper-berries! I, on a lark tried the Fredo Corleone a delightful banana flavored drink with small taste of lime. It was very good as was the Bloody Mary (see pics) We started off with the smoked tuna for an appetizer. This dish had a nice smoky flavor that enhanced the generous portion of finely minced tuna that was accompanied by a basket of saltine crackers. Then each of us opted to share the fish special of the day, which was a blacken snapper bedded on fresh spinach and a cheese grit cake that was an excellent complement to the fish. The blackening was perfect as it gave it a nice level of spice while not over whelming the delicate taste of the snapper. We had a salad as the side that was served with a nice balsamic dressing. Both couples agreed we had enough for the two food for each of us, but my wife had to ask what was for desert! The very pleasant and amicable waitress went over the desert selection and my wife quickly selected the bread pudding with a Carmel whiskey sauce and ice cream. She said we could all share it and the waitress said sure, I'll bring four spoons. When it arrived, it was this massive slice of bread pudding that we could have divided between us and have no one think they were sharing a desert! There was also two large scoops of ice cream, whipped cream all plated and then drenched with this to die for whiskey Carmel sauce! Yeah, we finished it all..every bite Tip - The deserts are huge, delicious and need to be shared. Food - 5 stars - Everything we had from drinks to dessert was excellent. Would definitely go back just for the food. Service - 5 stars - Our server was really nice, helpful knowledgeable and kept up with us in a packed restaurant. Atmosphere- 5 stars - This place is a fun place to go to, live band playing with people hanging out enjoying the music (it was not blasting away either so you could have a conversation), comfortable, eclectic with a red glow pervading the place. Great place to hit at the beach and enjoy. Price - 4 stars - It is a little expensive $7-12 hard drinks, but beer is around $4. Entrees $20 and up. Desert is a bargain. I definitely will be going back when I am in the area so it meets my value for the dollar, especially as the food is excellent. read more

We have been visiting Red Bar since the late 80's and always love the music the atmosphere and the consistency of their food. Now we are residents here we take guest and family all the time when they visit. Since the fire I think they have done an awesome job of bringing back the vibe of the old building and the food has gotten even better! (Which I didn't think was possible?) This was our first time at Red Bar and we will be back. The food was great, I had the stuffed eggplant which was everything i was wanting in the dish - lots of seafood and the eggplant was roasted really well. My cousin ordered the lemon chicken and really enjoyed it. The drink I got was a little on the strong side, the server wasn't overly warm or attentive, but we got what we needed and they had a full coloring book for my 2yo which was a nice touch. The patio is well shaded and you could hear the live music without it drowning your conversation. Cool place! read more

My wife and I enjoyed a great night together at The Red Bar. The service was great, our waiter explained everything in detail from the specials to what the menu had to offer. The feel of the place was nice with a lot of old photos and dim lighting with those Red painted walls. Our food came in a timely manner and tasted wonderful! The live band playing in the background was great! The only downside was having to find parking, which we got lucky enough to find just down the block. It's amazing to see the barrage of 1-2 star reviews because of COVID. Nobody forced you to go to a restaurant. Moving right along.. This place was every bit as advertised. I love the location, right next to the beach, and away from the overly touristy areas. The inside is very eclectic, old signs everywhere. The bar has a good selection of drinks, beer, and wine. You could give Red Bar a bad rating for the wait times you have to go through. You could give them a scathing review for servers running around like crazy and always in a rush. You could have a number of things to complain about... until you eat their food. If you have never been before, expect these things to happen. They have giant chalkboards with about 5 choices total. And besides the fish special, the selection never changes. So why do I keep going back? One: because my in-laws love it and we are usually at the beach with them. Two: because I love it and a beach trip is now not complete without a stop at Red Bar. I have honestly only ordered two things. The pasta and the fish special. The reason they never change their very limited selection is because they have learned these dishes, and do them really well. The past is always a great choice. It is full of seafood and the sauce is great. There is not a way to put your finger on why it is so good. But it is. As for the fish special, I can only speak for this last visit. I went with the grouper special and it was simply outstanding. It was pan-fried to perfection and the sauce was spectacular. It came on a very well executed grit cake for a combination of flavors that were some of the best I have had. Seriously top 3 fish dishes I have ever eaten. Some others at the table got the other fish special, and were not nearly as impressed. But this one was knocked clear out of the park. See you again next year Red Bar. read more

When you're in Seaside area and looking for food, this spot seems to be the happening place. It reminds me of McGuires, kind of informal, a lil dirty, tons of people, really loud, filled with tourists. The good news is that the lighting is reddish and very flattering so you look about 1.5 points (out of a ten point scale) better than you normally do (tinder first dates anyone?) Other than that, I don't really get the appeal. We were there on a Saturday and had to wait about 40 minutes to get a table. At this point, they better be serving some unicorn gonads cooked extra special to be worth the wait. The food is all pre-made as they have a very limited menu of about 7 entrees to choose from and the price doesn't quite justify the super informal atmosphere and pre-made food. The place is so loud, replete with multiple television sets blaring overhead, gaudy Halloween decor, and three layers of people trying to squeeze up to the bar that it feels sort of like fall orientation at a collegetown. Not bad if you're 18 with a fake ID but sort of misses the mark if you're looking to have a nice dinner next to the ocean. read more
