They are Halal & usually the meat is much better quality. It def was!! Was leaving Sephora & saw sign for $2 tenders on Thursdays. Ordered just one tender with side of ranch. It was kind of a long wait (10-15 min) but I was excited to try it. When they called my number I double checked that my order had the ranch I paid for. She said NOPE this order is honey mustard! I double checked my receipt & let her know it was mine but I ordered ranch. She kind of gave me a hard time. I insisted, because ranch is my fav with spicy food (& not a fan of sweet). She finally said "I guess they hit the wrong button".

Like im trying to pull a fast one over one chicken tender... Chicken was juicy & delicious. Might be back.

Thursdays at The Red Chickz is too good to pass up! $2 per Chicken Strip is amazing! They are not just any chicken strip, they are quite big and packed with flavor. The seasoning on them is so tasty. I seriously enjoyed them. I also got Texas Toast and Donut Holes. They were awesome too! They were busy when I went which is always a good sign. Means they are popular for good food. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant itself was super clean. I love all the quotes and sayings on the walls. The staff were awesome! Everyone I encountered was really nice. I gotta go back and try some other items since I seriously enjoyed the strips!

Not going to lie, I definitely died a bit when I tried this place. Turns out, I've never had dry rub spicy heat before and it is definitely not the same as wet sauce spice. Learned that the hard way. Once the initial shock faded, I did still enjoy our meal. Overall, my guy and I both thought the chicken was just a bit above average, despite having a higher cost. HOWEVER, they only provide 1 small thing of sauce! That is soo rude and upsetting! Just have large tubs of sauce available for people if the individual packets are too expensive. Also, for what we paid, they could've at least given a decent slice of bread instead of a sad slice of wonder bread. Chicken is 3.5, but rounding down because of the lack of sauce included.

Yes!!!! And damn, the chicken, shrimp, and cauliflower at The Red Chickz really are as crunchy as they claim. I've been a hot chicken fan ever since my production team and I worked the CMAs over a decade ago, so I know good hot chicken when I taste it. The seasoning here is savory, addictive, and absolutely delicious. Now, full disclosure: I love hot chicken... but hot chicken does not love me. So I always order their Cool (no heat) version, and every single time it is fantastic. Their tenders are beautifully crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and generously sized. They're so substantial that you can easily make a full sandwich out of them , especially if you add their delicious Texas toast. And let's talk about the shrimp: these are not little shrimp. They are basically the size of prawns, and honestly, some of the best fried shrimp I've had in North County. I'd even say they're better than what I've had at some seafood spots nearby. But my absolute favorite thing on the menu? The cauliflower.As a kid, I never liked cauliflower, but The Red Chickz completely changed my mind. Their cauliflower is outrageously good , crunchy, flavorful, and seriously craveable. Lately, I've been perfectly happy ordering just the cauliflower, Texas toast, and fries because it's that good. A few more standouts: Fries: thick, hearty, steak fry-style, and excellent Mac & cheese: one of the best I've had anywhere Salads: fresh, crisp, and generously portioned Fried cheese curds: squeaky, creamy, and delicious Honestly, I could easily make a full meal out of just the sides and salads. Big thumbs up to The Red Chickz, crunchy, flavorful, and consistently satisfying. I'm looking forward to a very crunchy relationship with this place. Cheers!

This place lives to the hype I will say!! After walking around the mall I wanted a quick bite to each for lunch. This place is pretty big with a lot of seating both inside and outside. This reminds me a lot of Dave's Hot Chicken but I think this is 10x better. I got the original chicken sandwich, added some pepper jack cheese (reccomended by the staff and I will say amazing) with a side of wedge fries. Service was great, the staff were super friendly. The portions are big! I wasn't aware but M-F from 11-2pm they do lunch specials for 9.99! Loooove! Next time I'm in Carlsbad I'll come back !! Check it out if you're in the area!

Listen, paisans -- saw a TikTok about Red Chickz and I got nostalgic enough to make the hundred‑mile pilgrimage from San Diego. I was picturing big, glorious chicken tenders. What arrived: two regular tenders with fries and Texas toast, plus two spicy tenders. Mac & cheese on the side? Missing. Parking? Ridonkulous -- maybe holiday chaos, maybe bad planning. Taste wise, this one lands in the low‑average camp. The meat was dry and the crunch I was hankerin' for was AWOL. My lady asked for a mild heat on her country‑style; she got the full inferno instead -- maybe a mistake, maybe crossed wires, but not what she asked for. And here's the kicker: we asked for one sauce and were billed for four. That ain't right. Overcharging for extras leaves a bad aftertaste you can't fry away. Really wanted to like this place. The girl working the counter was busy with an order but still greeted us. She did ask if we had any questions. We thought we had it. Ordered the honey butter chicken sandwich x2. Both mild. One was with fries the other with coleslaw. And asked for honey mustard sauce. Didn't realize had to pay extra for that. The coleslaw was very bland. The sandwich was ok. One chicken strip for a sandwich was ridiculous. The sauce the sandwiches came with reminded me of thousand island dressing. The honey mustard sauce was different. I will say, the chicken strips weren't greasy like another chicken place we tried. They were crispy with little flavor. I totally disagree with having to pay for a side of sauce. Now if I was asking for extra, that I would understand. Will we be back? No.

Came in on a Thursday for the $2 tender deal and it was great! I got the glow spice level 3 piece and a strawberry shake (for free for checking in on yelp!!) and shared a large fry with my husband. My husband got the cool spice level. I loved mine with the buffalo sauce. I only ate about 1.5 and took some home, was a great left over for the next day. My husband can't handle spice and although it was only paprika on his he liked it but think he will try the country level next time. The tendies were flavorful, crunchy and very tender on the inside. Piping hot temp wise. So much better than Canes. Fries were pretty good, a bit too soft for my liking. Only bummer is you have to pay for additional sauce, but I get it otherwise people would probably waste it...it's good and pretty cheap so it's worth it. Ranch was pretty good. Strawberry shake was delicious! There was a bit of a wait but I was with good company and there was good people watching lol. Bathroom was pretty clean for how busy they were and how many young people they had working haha. I would definitely come back! :)

I've been wanting to come here for long time - especially after every foodie IG influencer posted videos of this place. Let me tell you, it is legit. $3 beers daily. $10 lunch specials daily. $2 tenders on Thursday. What a deal. Free drink with Yelp check in. The spice levels are for real. and they are seriously generous on the portion size... 2 tenders might be enough for most people. I'm guessing but there is a secret to breading fried chicken with corn flakes and I think that's how they do it. It is very crunchy on the outside with juicy chicken inside. It's really good. What gets me is the spice. It's not your wimpy spice levels that you might find at those big corporate chains, this will put sweat on your brow, which is how I like it (bonfire and blaze were HOT and you can level up from there)... But if you aren't into getting your face melted off, there are more mild levels... I'm definitely a fan and will return...

I rated this place a 3 earlier. I like to go back to a place to validate an earlier review. I dropped by for lunch today. The place was spotless, nicely decorated and the staff were super friendly. Service was excellant. I ordered the original sandwich. It was very fresh tasting. It had coleslaw and pickles on it as well as medium hot sauce. The bread was a Hamburger type of bun. The chicken had the right amount of heat for me. It was very good. The potatoe wedges were seasoned well. Something I did not notice before. Overall I was pleased. Definitely will go back. read more

I got the 2 piece chicken tender meal with the glow (mild) flavor. The whole meal was very good. The chicken was not fatty and the breading wasn't too thick at all, it was just right. The sauce in the photo is okay & the potato wedges were fantastic. You can order regular ranch, but they charge for each sauce. It was very loud inside so it made the girl taking our order very hard to hear. It felt like we had to shout for her to hear us as well. Besides that, the food and atmosphere was great! read more

I've been here a couple times now, I usually order the chicken sandwich spicy level "Glow" good enough spice with a slight kick, trying the "spark" next. Cheese curds are amazing along with wedges fries. Service is great and consistent. Mark does an amazing job there recommendations, you can tell his love for Red Chickz. I went here for the first time with my family. We went on tender Thursday and waited in the line that was out the door for probably around 25 minutes. We had a somewhat large order (including purchasing meals for our family members at home) but got everything in and it was correctly repeated back from the cashier. They told us it would be about 25 minutes. We waited 40 minutes for our food. We realized the cashier had not asked us if it was for here or to go and we did needed it to go. The food came out for here and we asked them to pack it up. We probably should have checked before we left that we received everything but didn't because we were extremely hungry and just ready to leave. We were missing all the sauces we ordered and a Mac and cheese. Kind of disappointing considering how long we waited. read more

I LOVE this place!!! We first had red chickz at Del Mar foodland and I was so sad to find out they weren't open in SD yet! They seriously have the crunchiest and crispiest chicken in the entire world and the BEST potato wedges! The establishment is clean and customer service is great. I tried the tenders with fries wedge both are pretty good! I had the tenders in Spark level which for me a sweet spot if you want that kick of spice but at the same time not over powering, the chicken is really crispy, the fries were pretty good could be a little more crispier but nonetheless it was good, the ambiance is clean and I only waited for a quick minute, I Will comeback for sure. read more

Let's call it like it is- there are a BUNCH of chicken places popping up. I see them everywhere and I feel like I don't have time to try them all. Recently my son came home after trying our newest chicken addition and wouldn't shut up about how delicious it is. So naturally we needed to see what all the hype was. The grand opening was last weekend and you would have thought these guys had been open for months. There were no visible hiccups (although after talking to the owner, he said he had been putting out fires all weekend. Testament to his professionalism because you could never tell there was a single hitch in the operation). We got our food quickly and dove right in. I got the honey butter and to my surprise they actually serve it with a dollop of honey butter on the chicken like a condiment. Slap two buns on it and you have yourself a DELICIOUS little sando. My son got the French toast sando, which was what he had the day before and couldn't bear ordering something different. They serve this with a side of syrup and if you need an extra pop of sweetness, then they've got your back. My wife had the standard chicken sandwich which was good, but when you have these other delicious options, I would recommend trying something different. We all got the potato wedges and agreed they are the best we've ever had. As for heat level, I can handle a fair amount of heat and after ordering the spark, I could hardly taste the heat. If you like heat, the bonfire is a perfectly nice level of heat in order to have a little kick, as well as enjoy your food. My assumption is that the heat levels jump exponentially because past bonfire, you have blaze, inferno, and finally Hotter Than You. As the story was told to me, my son's friend ordered a sandwich over the weekend with the hottest heat level and all the cooks came out of the kitchen to watch him eat it. Thats usually a sign that it's pretty hot. I'll be returning soon and trying the cauliflower sandwich, jumbo shrimp, whole wings, and washing it down with one of their delicious looking shakes. Oh, and their customer service is as good as it gets. Literally top three most impressive customer service experiences I've had to date. This is definitely 10-10! It is so good! The crispy outer crust is absolutely amazing! Tried the Chicken strips in Spark season, just the right amount of heat for me! Added honey to drizzle on top! OMG game changers. The jumbo shrimp is delectable and the cheese curds are insane! The atmosphere is great and the staff is very very inviting! Got the French Toast sandwich and the cheese curds. It was pretty good! The cheese curds were the star of the show IMO. My only gripe with the sandwich was that the bread gets kind of soggy quickly. The service was nice enough and the ambience is probably what you'd expect from a restaurant attached to a mall, which isn't a bad thing. With the over saturation of chicken sandwich joints around Oceanside, Vista and Carlsbad I feel I can be pretty picky about this place. Is it the best chicken sandwich I've ever had? Definitely not however, for the price and the fact that you get a side along with a sandwich at no extra cost I will give it a big plus. Ordered an original (glow with a side of coleslaw) and honey butter (spark with potato wedges) also decided to try their "comeback sauce" on the side, which was nothing to write home about in my opinion, but everyone needs their own "signature sauce" nowadays. For a Sunday afternoon and six orders ahead of me, I got my food incredibly quick! Brought it back home, about a 10 minute drive, and everything was still crispy. You get a generous size side but the sandwich itself is on the smaller side. The coleslaw was very lackluster, really needed seasoning but the wedges were great. I had very high hopes for the sandwich itself after seeing all of the positive reviews but in all honestly it was good, nothing mind blowing, the honey butter version was better than the original but I may be biased as I have a preference for sweet things. I'll also note that you get one tender per sandwich which left me with excess bun, not a complaint just an observation. If you want a competent chicken sandwich and are already at the mall, then you'll have come to the right place. Will I go out of my way to go here again? Probably not. read more

The owner was curious so he asked me how it tasted. Second hottest level. First off, the chicken was fresh out the fryer. The flavor was good, but the chicken itself could have had a bit more flavor. My order consisted of some shrimp and chicken. Now, before I go any further, they have some serious spice levels, ranging from 1 to 8 or something like that. I can usually handle my heat, but I suggest you don't go beyond Bonfire. I tried Inferno because I thought I was tough, and it made me cry--literally! But it was so worth it because the flavors were out of this world. The shrimp were huge and perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of crispiness. They were absolutely mouth-watering. I enjoyed them so much that I went back the next day to try the chicken. Let me tell you, whatever voodoo they've got going on in that kitchen, it works wonders. I loved how there were more options available to pair with the chicken including french toast, waffles, and potato bread. SHOUTOUT to cashier ELYSE O. who was very attentive and helped explain the menu to us. I asked her what her favorite items on the menu were, one of which included the Honey Butter Sandwich. It was such a great recommendation; the perfect combination of sweet from the honey butter, and savory from the chicken tender and pepperjack cheese. Other items purchased are as follows: - Original Sandwiches: Light, crunchy, flavorful; we appreciate the non-heavy feel that the tenders tasted - 3 Tenders w/ Mac n Cheese: Phenomenal, with the mac n cheese being alright - Potato Wedges: Seasoned perfectly and paired well with the sauce. This is honestly my new favorite chicken spot. They have an amazing selection and the quality is great. I got the French toast chicken sandwich with the cheese curds for my first time and it was so delicious. I love sweet and savory/spicy so it was perfect. I got of them (spark, medium) and that was a good solid heat and flavor. I went back a few days later and got another French toast but with Mac and cheese which was so saucy/cheesy, I loved it. I would say their only down fall right now is that they don't have enough locations, but I'm willing to make the drive, it's that good. Fast and friendly service, with a good ambiance and seating. It's also near the mall which makes it a great choice while shopping. I highly recommend trying them out ASAP! read more
