    Rainy evening at red tail
    Matthew T.

My wife and I stopped in after work this Friday for a drink. We hadn't been here before, which surprised me as it's been here for over 2 years and we come to 9th avenue often. The bartender couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. They had very unique, interesting, and well priced wines and beers. My wife had a Slovenian white blend. She enjoyed it and then tried a different white, also enjoyed it. I had a west coast IPA followed by a west coast Pale Ale. Both were great. We also had a house snack mix, which was a nice mix of different snacks in a bowl. The serving was so generous we took some with us when we left! I have to also say that the music, from when we went in till we left was great. We constantly were saying, this is a great song or who's singing this cover? It was a DJ spinning all of it off the end of the bar. He was on point. The place itself is cozy, very clean, and a place I'm already looking forward to visiting again.

Always a good time. East street parking. Rotating wine/ beer list. Attentive and friendly bar staff. Patrons are chill and this place is Dog friendly! belly rubs and sips. Love it. There's also happy hour! Been here a handful of times and will be back! Sit outside and soak up the sun. Evenings trivia with prizes.

    Great beer selection!

How nice to find a quality craft beer spot in the inner sunset. Though they've been open a year or so somehow this missed my radar. Guess I'll need to make up for lost time. Red Tail is conveniently located right on the N line AND across from Loving Hut. This is particularly appealing as they allow outside food. Time to get some steam buns to go with all that great beer. And it is truly a solid selection at Red Tail. They have plenty of draft and can selections to keep you proper hydrated. I enjoyed the likes of great notion, temescal, and barebottle while there. And to top it all off, it's a very welcoming space. Simple design, lots of plants, and the possibility of ample light if it's not a grey day. I also spotted some turntables there and would love to play (or listen to) records here. Cheers.

SUPER cool wine spot in the inner sunset that fills a huge gap in the neighborhood in terms of cool, non-divey bars. Great selection of wines (I highly recommend the flight, you get 4 well filled glasses of your choice for 20). Pours are INCREDIBLY generous so don't be surprised if you order a regular glass and it is more than you signed up for. They've got big wooden communal tables for groups, as well as private smaller table for couples/dates, and bar seating. We haven't had trouble finding seating for a large group. The place has great lighting, tons of plants, cool art, and wonderful service. So glad to have found this neighborhood gem.

Low quality photo of my wine glass, HIGH QUALITY experience! The Red Tail is an incredible wine bar with craft beer on Irving street in San Francisco. $20 for a flight of 4 high quality delicious wines. You just don't see deals that sweet in California (especially SF!) There is also a great Happy Hour and snacks. The owner was SO friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was beautiful, fun and relaxed. Plants are hung everywhere and the decor is unique and fun. One example is a photo of a topless Mona Lisa painting. We all took photo with it (it's not pictured here as it may not be in alignment with yelp guidelines). 10/10 recommend this spot and we are planning to join as wine members at our next visit!

    Drinks with friends!

Cute local spot, has excellent orange wines! Has been a little hard to find places with trendy orange wines in inner sunset but this place has a good selection. Not too crowded, quick service, tables get cleaned regularly. Overall good vibes!

I called a couple of hours beforehand and made a same day reservation for three at 8 p.m. I was amazed they could get us in. The guy who answered the phone was so nice. We arrived right at 8 and were seated on the back patio. Our server took a little while to greet us, but by about 8:15 she showed up and we immediately ordered our salad and entrees. The heirloom tomato salad came out around 8:30 and was great in concept, though a few more pieces of cheese would have made a big difference. Our entrees, two salmon dishes and a medium-rare steak, came out around 9 p.m. We had waited a little too long, especially since the restaurant was not very full at that point. My steak was overdone, so as politely as possible, I sent it back. The server said it wouldn't take long, so I assumed 15 minutes at most. By 9:20, the steak still had not arrived and my family had finished eating. The server came by and said it would be out in another couple of minutes. Another 10 minutes passed, and there was still no steak and no sign of the server. At 9:30, I was so frustrated that I got up to cancel it. I found the server standing near the kitchen talking with other servers, while my steak was just sitting there in the service window. I'm sorry, but I did not come to a restaurant at 8 p.m. to eat my entree at 9:30 or later, after everyone else had already finished. What made it worse was that the server was not apologetic at all. We also ran out of water multiple times throughout the evening. Overall, it felt like the staff, other than the host, just didn't care. Neither the kitchen nor the server. I don't know if it's the no-tip model, but it definitely felt like an authentic European zero-customer-service type of experience. I'm really disappointed, Zazie. I know you can do better.

We visited this past Friday around 5:45pm and were lucky enough to get a table in the back patio right away. The staff was super kind and offer us to upgrade our table after it was cleared off. The back patio was gorgeous it was heartening to see the place so lively given the rough year it's been with COVID. You could also tell this was a spot frequented by locals. We ordered a pitcher of Hazy IPA and 2 tomato Basil empanadas. We were impressed with the reasonable drink prices and selection and loved the free chips and salsa provided to the table. When the empanadas came out they were hot, cheesy and delicious too. I love the cheery environment of Finnegan's Wake and we had an excellent time. The bar itself in very long, so I can generally find a seat. The drinks are pretty reasonable and the place is not too noisy. The cocktails are ample if not particularly well crafted. One thing that I don't appreciate is that the attitude and service at this place is consistently indifferent, unpolite, and often startlingly rude. I've had service from multiple bartenders here and a sour disposition towards customers seems to be a job requirement here. I want to like this place but the rough attitude of the service staff here is decidedly off-putting.

Upon looking at the menu I was "in" for the SF vibe of the food offerings. Below is what we ate and our rating of the food: Me - smoked salmon on toast w/ baby pickles, capers, and spread. Oh-em-gee-times-ten....I was either REALLY hungry or the dish was THAT good! (it was that good!). The serving was generous and satisfying and was accompanied with salad greens tossed in a vinaigrette dressing. I am salivating as I write this. Son - breakfast burrito. He liked it. It was simple: scrambled eggs, bacon in a spinach tortilla. His young age did not help his appreciation of a green tortilla, so.....he only ate half Daughter - granola, fruit, yogurt parfait. She demolished it and enjoyed every bite. And, even carried her leftovers with her (all day, might I add) and ate them for breakfast in the hotel the next morning. To supplement their meals I ordered a side of toast and roasted potatoes. We ate with gusto! My cappuccino (which I only seem to order when I'm in San Francisco) was delicious and gave me enough energy to walk those hills with ease. This place is a hidden gem with a very sweet staff that took good care of us. More pictures to come.

We went down to eighth Street to go to the café a few days ago, on a wonderfully warm day, and as we entered, the hostess said "go ahead and sit anywhere." As we went to the back patio as we have done for over six years now, she rudely interrupted and said "not the patio." We were not sure what she was saying as she had turned away and talked away from us, but we asked if the patio was open. She laughed at us and said "no the patio is not open. You can't sit there. " We said OK well, we'll have to go some other time cause we don't eat indoors. She started laughing at us and said well OK and kept laughing as we exited. As I said, we have been going there for over six years and we always enter the indoors masked and the staff who's worked there for a long time know us as well. This rudeness was really uncalled for and I don't know if I'll go back. It looks like they now take reservations for the patio so I don't understand what's up.

My party of four came without a reservation, so we were seated along the wall against a small countertop area. It wasn't the most comfortable setting for a group hangout. I'd recommend making a reservation in advance. Space is a bit small so seating is limited. Ambiance is a vibe though. Cute and chic little wine bar in a central location. Between the four of us, we ordered the bread/butter, ceviche, Dungeness crab garlic noodles, and the Wagyu dog to share. We also got a bottle of their Lambrusco. The stars of the show were definitely the wine and the garlic noodles. I wouldn't recommend sharing the Wagyu dog as it got a bit messy. Everything was definitely overpriced, and portions were small. We had to order takeout from another restaurant afterwards to satiate our hunger lol. I'm glad I tried this spot but would only recommend stopping by if you're not very hungry or are just looking for some small snacks before an actual dinner.
