We have a really great experience, but overall can't give it five stars. We booked the igloo for 4:15 pm, and we arrived on time, a party of 2. I called ahead of time to ask if we could pick the igloo and was told that I could, but when I arrived, I was told I couldn't because we are a small party, and they needed to place us to where it seemed better for the party size. Afterward, we were told we only had 10 minutes left around 6 pm. The igloo experience is 2.5 hours, so we were supposed to be able to stay until 6:45 pm as my reservation was at 4:15. The manager came to inform us we came late, and that they needed to clean the tables for the next party. However, we arrived on time, and it appeared that we were the only ones told to leave, as a big party in front of us was still there. They were there before us, so assuming they arrived at 4 pm, they were supposed to leave at 6:30, but they were there till after as we were in the parking lot discussing with each other about our frustration. Furthermore, we are visitors from NYC; we are not even local, so giving this kind of treatment is not right just cause we are two people taking up a whole igloo. We have a good experience until we were told we need to leave. We were given some sort of compensation to sit by the fireplace indoor but what's the Point so we reject the offer, we pay 100$ to rent the igloo for 2.5 hours and we can't even stay the 2.5 hours. read more

Excellent spot to dine during Covid-19, as the patio is quite spacious (and spaced-out), with virtual menus to boot. The scallop ceviche appetizer was the highlight of our meal; it was the perfect bite of brine/salt/acid/tart. My wife noted that the almond crust on her fish was too sweet, but that the fish itself was moist and flavorful. My lobster roll was a fastball down the middle. The Reef is kind of tucked back from the action, so its a nice change of pace, and has great views of the little harbor area too. read more

Food was good well organized with the issue at hand. I love dogs but they had someone with a dog and and it would bark loud every once and while and startle you. Someone from a boat walked their dog by and it peed right in the middle of the floor and after he was done they walked on, not telling anyone at the restaurant or offering to clean up. After people stepped in it, someone had to clean it up. It is a great place nice setting but the owner just needs to be more concise of what is going on and having a barking dog is not relaxing for diners. read more

Weak resurrection of a once great establishment. The core of this places history was fun outdoor, acoustic music vibe with fun waitstaff ... and/or classic surf/turf menu inside. We checked out The Reef on Friday night for a drink. After standing at the bar for 20 mins and not being served, we were told we had to check in with the hostess to sit down if we wanted to order anything. We ordered very basic drinks and they managed to mess all 4 up. After the manager came over to apologize, we decided to give it a another shot for dinner the following night. Making a reservation is impossible over the phone. The number goes to an automated service that then disconnects. We ended up making it online which worked fine. The service was insanely slow. The menu is extremely limited and obnoxiously overpriced for what they're serving. For being right on the water, you would assume their fish options would be extensive but they're not. Two of us ordered the scallop dish ($35 for 3 scallops and cold corn underneath). The prime rib was almost completely fat. Even the chicken on a simple salad was dry. The lettuce was doused in dressing, making it more of a soup and completely inedible. We will not be giving this place another shot. read more

This place has a lot of potential but definitely a work in progress. The bartender in the side bar could not handle a crowd of people. The prices are a bit expensive and they were not very accommodating to dietary needs. Portions are also small for many of the entrees, drinks we're subpar. We ate here on the 4th of July. The best Salmon I've ever had, and the tagliatelle with lobster is amazing ! The staff is super attentive, and Covid protocols were strictly followed. The large outdoor seating deck, and open wall indoors were the real feel of Newport. Loved it. We'll be back. read more

We went for lunch during the week. We waited quite a bit for a server to help us, even though we were the only ones inside the restaurant. When waters were brought, there were barcode stickers floating in the water, as if they were unpackaged right before use. One glass was cracked from top to bottom. We decided to only get appetizers. When the meatballs came, we found tin foil in them. We went to the manager, and although she issued a refund, she claimed that we were making it up. read more

The order of coconut shrimp consisted of 4 shrimp for $15. The flavorless crab cake sandwich came with a cheap bun, with a forgetful sauce. Made a reservation for a group of friends after seeing their ad touting the 'best view in Newport' for watching the 'Illuminated Boat Parade' the day after Thanksgiving...We are not 'from' Newport, and were entertaining a large group of friends/family for the Thanksgiving holiday...seemed like a fun way to end our get together. Pulled the menu up....perfect....burgers, salads, soups....etc...casual, easy....Love it. Off we go...!! Unfortunately, NOTHING was as it was advertised. Ability to view parade, was almost non existent.....boats were in the far distance....having lights on in dining area didn't help. People running in and out the door in the dining area to try and get a look from the wharf close by meant constant blasts of cold air...and constant traffic....Since the door locked behind people going outside, diners were then subjected to people banging on the door or window to be let back in.....interrupting people's meal, conversations, etc as diners nearby felt compelled to get up and let people back in...(and another blast of cold air). Food and drink...? Well...we asked for a drink menu...waitress told us they didn't have one...as they were 'in between' menus ... Food menus brought.....VERY limited and NOT what we had viewed on the web site......we asked..again, told 'between menus'. The food we did order was pretty blah....and on the expensive side for what was offered. On top of all this, service was inattentive, slow....even in getting our bill and paying! The restaurant business is tough....and while this place may have a 'primo' spot for summer .... they have significant work to do to entice people in during the winter....or build a cadre of repeat customers that will allow them to sustain any level of business success. read more

The waitress we contacted was nice and picked up our order. Drinks and food came out timely and were good. Staff member opened the outside door which made it chilly. We ordered the Mussels with coconut milk and Poke Bowl for appetizers. The Mussels were really good. But the Poke Bowl seems quite dry and hastily put together. The Lobster vodka rigatoni for main course was quite good. Very creamy and tasty. However rest of the food was much disappointment. Specially the lobster rolls. I ordered the Connecticut roll and the meat was absolutely dry. The Newport roll was okay but the lobster meat didn't have much taste. I also felt the quantity of the lobster meat on the rolls was quite less. The outside sitting area is spacious and has good harbor views. I will start off with the positives. It is a beautiful location and the food was decent. This is where it ends. Our waitress spilled a large lemonade on me (fell straight into my lap when the tray tipped). I was drenched in lemonade and ice, and then she proceeded to blame me for spilling it. Our food then took about an hour to come out and we were billed for items we did not order. I politely brought this to the attention of the supervisor who was extremely rude and walked off on us. Spoke to the GM who then proceeded to tell us that we were lucky to be comped the food WE DID NOT ORDER OR EAT and that there would be no further adjustments despite having a drink spilled all over me, ruining my dress, poor service and incompetent and rude staff. He was rude and combative, and deliberately delayed the process so we had to wait a significant amount of time to get our bill, ultimately leading to us missing our next engagement. What should have been a lovely Father's Day lunch turned into an expensive disaster of an afternoon. We will never return to this establishment.
