We ordered to-go & got a variety of things. Below is the consensus: Positives- the burgers & onion rings. Burgers were like a great version of white castle, and I mean that as a compliment. Onion rings seemed homemade-not the typical frozen you get most places-and very tasty. And the fries get a decent. Negatives- the chicken sandwich was made with small pieces of meat rather than a whole breast, so it was hard to eat in a bun but taste was good. The veggie burger was bland, mostly rice, unsubstantial, like eating greasy air. The cheese for the fries was advertised as a 'cheddar cheese sauce'- NOT! It was like the american cheese sauce that comes on nachos at the movies. I really am disappointed by false advertising when it comes to cheese for my fries. One of the best burgers in Chicago. The patty is nice and griddled to perfection. The crispy edges leave you wanting more. Great burger, if you know what you're in for. While these are apparently made in the NW Indiana style, they reminded me a lot of the burgers I had growing up in Central Illinois. They're huge, in diameter, with a thin juicy center and a crunchy edge (which is fantastic). Like I said they're wide, twice the width of the bun. Note: they come with a pink mayo-ish spread (fry sauce?) and think sliced white onion, so ask if you don't want that. read more

I walked in here the day after they opened and had an excellent burger. I love the way that they make it for you though you can easily have it your own way. The pressed patty style makes for a very tasty burger and they do it well with a patty that is bigger than the burger, crispy at the edges with a juicy center. I like that they add heat by cutting the peppers as they prepare the burger, though the heat levels may vary depending on prep and the actual chilis used. Friendly service and since they make the burger right there, you will have to wait, especially if there is a line. Your patience will be rewarded with a very good burger. read more

Great burger! People are going to underestimate what they eat and will order too much food. The double is just slightly too much food for me. Just enough that I will finish it but also to the point I eat too much. It's a smash burger. Crispy edges and hangs over the bun. Perfect. The fries were good. I'm a fan of really crispy fries. Have lived in the neighborhood for years and have wanted to try this spot ever since it opened. I finally did and it did NOT disappoint! I got the cheeseburger and added bacon with a side of fries. The burger was delicious, exactly what I was craving. The crispy burger edges, the sauce, the onions, the bacon - it was seriously perfect. Fries were good. I live near here but haven't gone here because I don't eat burgers and rarely eat fries for health reasons. But I do sometimes eat an unhealthy meal and I really wanted some fries. I've read that The Region makes some of the best fries in the city. They were about $7 for a large. I got them to go and the bag was really greasy. I know they're fries but this was excessive. I got them home, and there were nowhere near enough fries to justify the price but if they were amazing, I would be fine with the price. Most of the fries were shorter than 1 cm in length and fried to a really deep brown. I do not mean that they were a golden brown. They were brown to the point of just short of black. I ate some of the better ones but even those weren't great. I threw out a good number of the fries, and I hate wasting food but they were just inedible. And the "good" ones just didn't taste of much at all, other than grease. I will say that this was during Retro on Roscoe, so they were likely busier than usual but even allowing for that, the quality and value isn't there for me to go back. read more

I enjoy burgers pretty often and I like them thick and juicy. I made sure to keep my burger position over the tray for this one as The Region's burgers are definitely juicy, but they are flat and spread out on a large bun. The flavor of the sauce was lost on me, but I saved half of it so maybe the flavor will still be there when I reheat the burger. Not a big fan of the flavor of the batter of their french fries, they were hot and crispy which is always a plus but I prefer un-battered fries. The place looked clean, it was small so for the Roscoe VIllage moms, during the summer the outdoor seating will be a big help for them. They need to make sure to keep their ketchup bottles cleaned, it's gross picking up a sticky bottle. I nit pick at this because you are paying a good amount for the burger, add ons, fries and drink for one person. I might come back and try a different style of burger and take it to go, but I wouldn't go out of my way. read more

We ordered the annihilation burger, veggie burger and fries with a side of insanity sauce. The annihilation burger got rave reviews from my boyfriend. It was definitely heavy on the meat!! I ordered the veggie burger- I loved that it was a house made patty and the flavor was good. However I do wish it was a bit thicker or two of the patties because it was very thin. First off, I'd like to preface my review with this detail: I like the food. Stopped in on my lunch break today, marking the second trip I'd made to The Region. I came back because on my last visit I really enjoyed their fries. Unfortunately, it seems that they've since changed the product they use, and the new ones just aren't up to snuff. I also decided to order a double (or Diggity Dos, as it were) this time around since I was hungry - and when my total was read back to me it was like a punch to the gut. Over $17 for a double hamburger (no cheese, bacon, egg, or any of the other silly upcharges), an order of weak fries, and a can of soda. I ate everything handidly in one sitting, so I can't say there was really any value that warranted such a steep price. Oddly enough, two older gentleman ordered shortly after me and remarked to the cashier that the prices were way too steep. He scoffed, and they subsequently downgraded their order to the smaller "Regionette" 3.5 oz. burgers. Can't "guac costs extra" everyone, it would seem. As much as I want this place to succeed (because I like the food!), these prices will not sustain regular business. Not when you've got sure bets like Kuma's, Bad Apple or DMK all within a 3 mile radius. At least those places throw in the fries! Last aside? Way too pricey for what you get. The Region got good reviews when it originally opened a few years ago and we were excited to finally make it there. Our food came out fast and was tasty but the prices were super high for a small storefront serving thin patty's with minimal menu options. We paid more for a family of 4 get dinner here than we do to sit down and be served and waited on at nice restaurant nearby that has awesome gourmet burgers (not thin patties) and many more menu options, seating and ambiance. read more

This restaurant is a GREAT addition to roscoe village. It's a small place that has a few tables inside and a few outside (when weather permits). It's also BYOB which never hurts. The burgers are phenomenal: They are thin and juicy. The sauce they add is also very good. Unlike many burgers that leave you feeling crummy afterwards, the burgers from the region sit SO well and leave you wanting more! I got a regular burger + fries, costs over $12 including tax. Why tip them for handing me a greasy bag after taking my money? It's such a small place, just a few stools and with zero appeal, it practically screams "Take Out!" You better like medium or well-done, I don't think they'll do any rarer. This is easily one of the best burgers I have ever had; in fact, I prefer it to the famed Au Cheval burger. Love the smashburger style, which allowed for a juicy patty but with salty, slightly crispier edges. The raw onions are perfect to soak up the grease, and the sauce reminded me of a more delicious Big Mac sauce that I used to enjoy when I was a kid. The fries and onion rings here are also awesome. My favorite type of french fry, these were super crispy, salty, and light (and yes, greasy-- they're fries, people!). Limited indoor seating, but they have some cute chairs and tables set up outside which we took advantage of. Me and my husband have been through some pretty fancy Burger spots in Chicago the region is hands-down my favorite they opted out of Glitz & Glam of a deed of they keep the place nice and simple but the burgers are French the ingredients are fresh it's almost as if you made it at home yourself the people that work there are absolutely cool it is a bit small you may not be able to get a seat if you do be sure to bring a bottle if you're not a drinker they have great milkshakes as well the prices are fair and they also have lunch specials I just went yesterday for the first time and I'm going back today. Before trying the burger here, my opinion on Chicago burger places was that Small Cheval and Mini Mott were untouchable. Two very different styles, but I respect them at the same level. I have to give Curtis credit, not only is it hands-on but also is very attentive to every customers needs. It's great to see that he now delivers locally.
