GARBAGE!!! I ordered a Morimoto HID "repair kit" from Retrofitsource that included 2 HID bulbs, 2 ballasts, and 2 ballast wiring adapters in February 2018 for $180.00 when my factory headlights stopped working. I did this because the dealer was going to charge me $1500.00 just to replace 2 ballasts; that didn't even count the igniters or bulbs. Initially, after a $200.00 install (they charged by the hour and had to remove the bumper) by a professional, this "repair kit" worked. In July 2018, however, one headlight would go out, then the other; one of the headlights was always out. By October 2018, both headlights were out completely. I called Retrofit source to troubleshoot the problem, and they sent me 2 replacement ballasts after they determined the ballasts were bad. I took my car to the same installer and they took out the old ballasts and put in the replacement ballasts for $150.00. The replacement ballasts didn't work either. They tested them and found that there was voltage going in, but not coming out; they confirmed that the rest of the system was working by substituting in their own ballasts, and when they did, the system worked and the lights came on. So I called Retrofitsource again, and they didn't believe that it could be that the ballasts were bad and that it was a power probelm, so they recommended that I buy a HID relay for $30.00 to fix it, so I had the same professional install that for another $50.00. That didn't fix the problem, either. I then took the car to another professional installer for a 2nd opinion. The 2nd installer did the same exact test on the ballasts as the first one, and came to the same conclusion ,bad ballasts. I called Retrofitsource again to explain the probem and ask for a 2nd pair of replacement ballasts, but I was told that the chances of me getting 2 pairs of bad Morimoto ballasts was so astronomically low, that it couldn't possibly be the problem. Then they insisted that I have my professional installer call to confirm before they sent out a replacement pair. I had both installers call Retrofitsource again to explain that it was the ballasts that were bad, and they finally agreed to send out a 2nd pair. I had to pay another $100.00 to swap the ballasts out again (the professional installer gave me a discount because he felt bad that I had to deal with this). That pair of ballasts didn't work either. I call Retrofit source again to ask for my money back for the enitre kit, but I was told that since it was past 45 days, that getting my money back wasn't an option. They said that all they could do was send me replacement parts. WHY WOULD I WANT REPLACEMENT PARTS THAT ARE ALL CLEARLY GARBAGE?! So, thankfully, I found someone that was parting out their car and desperate for money, and I bought the entire factory headlight assemblies for the passenger and driver sides that included the ballasts, bulbs, and ignitors for $120.00, but I had to pay another $200.00 to have them installed. So now, after risking being pulled over by being forced to drive at night using only one headlight, or ONLY my fog lights for 11 FUCKING MONTHS, and wasting $1,030.00 on FUCKING HEADLIGHTS because the Retrofitsource FUCKING SUCKS, my headlights FINALLY work. And now I'm stuck with their garbage product. I think I'll put it all in a box, take a shit on top of it, and send it back to them. read more

I've followed TRS and HIDP for probably a decade now and have placed several orders with TRS and feel apt to review their business. First, a disclaimer: I have only used their online store and never been into their Atlanta, GA physical location. Aftermarket automotive lighting companies are aplenty now, but despite all the hype of TRS, they really do offer some great products and provide great service. These two things really set this place apart from others. First, their service is second to none. E-mail turnaround time is normally same-day and often within a few hours. Chat sessions around lunchtime seem to have a queue of ~10-15mins, but they're prompt when your session is active. I was also able to contact someone on the phone almost instantly for correcting an error in my order and resolving it in about 5 minutes, including some special help by their rep on my order. Many staff also patrol their sponsored forums HIDPlanet and are prompt to answer, in their TRS products section of the forums. I don't have experience talking with them through FB, Twitter, IG, etc., however. What's as important is their product offering. They have their own brand - Morimoto - and also sell a lot of OEM-brand products, both new and used. Morimoto's core offering is of HID kits (ballasts, bulbs, and harnesses/relays) and a large handful of mostly Bi-Xenon projectors. Their lengthy warranties on each product is something that stands out and, to me, justifies the extra $$$. I've never had to return or replace anything. I've purchased a few HID kits (for myself and others), as well as some OEM S2000 projectors and close-out M45 projectors and lenses. The components of the kits do seem well-built, from the relay/harnesses, to the ballasts (potted), and surprisingly bright bulbs. A couple more perks about TRS are that they normally ship orders from Atlanta, GA to Raleigh, NC (where I live) in 2 business days... 3 business days if you have a custom order. I ordered a set of projectors last Friday morning and they were on my doorstep the following Monday... maybe faster than Amazon Prime?! The one gripe I have is that the S2000 projectors I ordered were nested inside of each other (the low beam projectors of each were nested into the high beam side of the other, so that they fit in the box easier), without any kind of protection from scratching the lenses on the high beam housing. As a result, I did notice a visible amount of scratching on both lenses in several places. I was disappointed, but in the end, I made the decision not to contact them to try to resolve the issue since the output seemed acceptable, so I won't deduct a star here. All in all, TRS is a great company to deal with. If you have questions about anything at all, their staff are all knowledgeable about the products they sell and can often make suggestions when you need one (one rep actually recommended me to purchase one of their cheaper setups due to performance and my application). For these reasons, they've continued to earn my business and I feel that they deserve my 5 stars. read more

Let me help TRS here, if they care about their customers or at least if they care about ALL their customers at ALL. There were a few ways you can go about approaching this issue that I have. 1. If you think or believe you can't take my refund because you refuse to lose, and you know that you take too long to respond to my emails and on top of that, you basically caused a month's worth of inconvenience for me and the friend, you could at least give me a partial refund. I would have been satisfied with that. 2. If you know that I have issues with your H13 kit on my Mini, and you easily say that I don't have resistors or whatever else it is that I need for the Mini, you could have taken an extra step in your customer service skills for me and say, "Hey you know what? Sorry about the inconvenience, but let me SHIP you the part that you need to make you're kit to work properly! ON THE HOUSE!" I would have been happy even if I knew the kit was faulty and it probably wouldn't work. 3. Since I know I have a faulty kit, and you (TRS) is ASSUMING that I think it's a faulty kit. You could've offered to send me a brand new KIT with the parts that I need to make it work for the Mini while I return the faulty kit back to them. 4. If you didn't want to take any responsibility for the H13 kit, and since I've already sent it back to you at TRS. You could've maybe offer to send me another set of H11 kit for my FRS instead just so I have an extra set or SOMETHING. Because in the end, I freaking paid $300+ for both KITS! But now as I type this, so far, I've sent them back their faulty H13 kit, and Carlos shot me an email saying they can't refund me because it's "damaged" and missing brackets. I returned an email to Carlos@TRS within a few minutes telling him, that I indeed do still have the un-used brackets, and I have no problem in shipping it back to them too. I've also explained how unhappy I currently am right now with the whole situation and asked what are my options right now to get this all sorted out. That email was sent on 04/09/2014 and today is 04/19/2014; still NO RESPONSE at all. It's safe to say that I basically lost $160.00 (price of the kit) along with a few bucks here and there for all that shipping cost. Nor do I have a H13 HID kit in my hands after paying a full price of $300+ in the beginning. I don't care anymore TRS. You need A LOT OF WORK on the customer service department. You can keep the faulty kit and my $160+ that I spent on that kit. I think I'm even going to take out the perfectly working kit on my FRS and get another company's kit just because it's from TRS. I know I'm just one customer and that I have no impact on your company at TRS, nor do you care if I had a bad experience or not. This review probably has no effect on you or anyone else because I basically typed a college essay and I doubt anyone is going to read it. Whatever, it's all good. I just need to write off some steam before I completely move on from this and let this all go and hopefully forget about it. read more

I've had an absolute nightmare of an ordering experience with TRS. I placed my original order back in February of 2019. A month and a half later, no product. I go back to their website and see there is a better coupon code, I ask customer service if there's a way I can have that coupon code applied to my order since it hasn't shipped yet. Not only did he say no, but they'd also have to cancel and reorder, he told me it wouldn't work on my order! Calling the customer service rep on his lies, I just reordered my stuff and lo' and behold. It worked! A month later my headlights finally arrive. (I ordered headlights, taillights, and 2 cable harnesses) I contact customer service to see where my taillights are and tell them that I also didn't receive my cable harnesses despite being told previously they were in stock. They say they will ship out the cable harnesses ASAP and that my taillights are backordered and will be in within 2 weeks. 2 weeks later I re-contact customer service to ensure that the cable-harnesses will be included in the box with the taillights, I was told they would be. They finally come in a week later; however, wouldn't you believe that the cable harnesses aren't in there? I contact customer service. The harnesses are backordered now. I wait 2 more weeks for harnesses. I finally get my cable harnesses, pop open the box to the tail-lights and one of the lights is broken, the housing is chipped on the corner. I have an RMA processed and they take $200 more from me for RMA hold. I'm told the lights are backordered but they'll be in by the first week of May. It's now the middle of May. I just contacted customer service again and they told me their shipment came in but none of the product has been allocated to me, and I'll have to wait until the end of the month to MAYBE get my RMA. They will not refund my RMA hold, they will not divert a headlight to me for RMA. When I finally get what I ordered I will potentially have waited 4 MONTHS and they've had my money (plus RMA hold money) the entire time, and don't seem to have a care in the world. Just the same tried and true "there's nothing we can do for you right now" These people sell products. They are not innovating. They are a vendor and their logistics are absolute smoldering dumpster-fire. Spend your money somewhere else. read more

I contacted TRS to get some general information about choosing the best possible product (clear lens) for my projector retrofit project I'm planning on performing. After talking to Andrew he assured me out of the options which were available the to pick a specific product which was best suited for my setup. The lens is clear compared to the oem lens which is foggy. The output I'm hoping is slightly brighter from what I have read the line should be sharper as well. Shipping wise the price is very reasonable which is a surprise when most companies charge the max even for small items. It arrived quickly using the USPS option and I could not be happier with the product. In addition he told me to keep the other part free of charge. I really appreciate the way TRS handled the matter and will recommend these guys to anyone looking for their products. I bought the HID System Kit, 2015+ MOPAR: MORIMOTO ELITE(including HID BALLASTS: 2 x 50w / AMP: Morimoto XB Ballast $100.00 HID BULB SIZE / COLOR: 2 x 9012: XB 6500K $25.00 HARNESS: 1 x 2015+ Mopar Harness $90.00) for my 2015 Dodge Challenger SXT PLUS from TRS. When I installed everything following installation instruction, it was so smoothly because already they connected well but you have to find and print out installation guide and read carefully. If you install for the first time, you will be confused a little bit. However you don't have to worry about that. You can figure out. Back to my installation, after I installed the HID System Kit, I checked the light, it comes up a bit different brightness my driver side and then I sent a inquiry email to TRS customer service, support@theretrofitsource.com. After two days, they sent email to my inquiry. They recommend to wait burning the bulb for 30hrs about my HID bulbs. I waited to burn them. I sent email again because the bulb condition was same after burning 30 hours. Actually, I didn't expected they send new bulb, but they send new one and then I installed again. Finally, my HID bulbs is working very well. Now I don't have to worry about driving night time and even I can enjoy driving on night time. You will be happy , if you want real genuine HID System Kit and best customer service for your 2015 Dodge Challenger and I recommend before you order call and talk to a TRS professional helper. I recently purchased a Saab with Xenon's that have seen better days and was actively looking at the options for replacing/upgrading the bulbs. Someone recommended The Retrofit Source and am I ever glad they did. I was trying to figure out which color temperature I would like best and the way their site is laid out made it very easy. I liked the way the XB35 page had all of the temperatures listed as well as their respective lumen output, in fact I liked the way all of the bulb pages had the lumen output listed. After thinking about it for a while, I ended up deciding on the XB35 4300k bulbs as the visibility was most important to me. Their chat function also proved to be helpful when I had a few questions post order, as did their email form. Have I mentioned their pricing... I would have never thought that I would be able to get a replacement set of HID bulbs for cheaper than the Silver Stars for regular halogen housings. The shipping costs are very reasonable too, wasn't expensive at all to get my order shipped to me in Canada. My 2000 BMW 328i had a headlight bulb go out a few weeks ago.I decided to give the TRS D2S: MORIMOTO XB HID a try !!. I have always been super happy with the quality of the products at The Retrofit Source so this was a no brainer !! There was a little hiccup with the shipping (at no fault to the retrofit source) but they were prompt to look into it and resolve the issue !! so kudos to them for that !! Anyhow the bulbs arrived, I'm digging the new packaging !! looks super slick !! Grabbed a couple cold beers and swapped out both bulbs on the BMW. First impressions were amazing !!! Light output is miles better than whatever crap bulb was in there before !! I ordered the 6500k bulbs and they look fantastic !! Super clean icy white light (just a hint of blue) !! they fired up without any hesitation with the OEM ballasts and the hotspot and light output is uniform so they must be aligned just as good as the expensive bulbs !! When you look at the price of a pair of the Morimoto XB D2S bulbs compared to an OEM bulb, to me its a done deal ... the Morimoto XB bulbs are the winner by a long shot !!! I am a new and very proud owner of a 2015 Honda Accord Sedan which I find ALMOST perfect. The one aspect of the vehicle I was not thrilled about were the stock halogen bulbs which gave off a slightly yellowish light. I researched diligently for the best HIDs on the market and I came across The Retrofit Source. Being relatively uninformed in the area of HIDs, I submitted a question regarding the Morimoto Elite HID System. The Retrofit Source is the top on my list to buy HID kits from. Their quality and customer service is top notch! I currently have retrofitted headlights I bought from a member on my forum using the mini H1 projector with the gatlin gun shroud and a single CCFL halo. The quality of the projector is great the cutoff and output is amazing. I bought a different temperature pair of HID bulbs than the ones that came with the kit. shipping was VERY quick and exactly what I wanted. I bought a hid kit for my girlfriends Chevy Cruze with again quick shipment and great quality install was quick full plug and play. Only problem I had with that kit was one ballast failed after a few weeks,But their warranty exchange is GREAT I emailed them and Matt took care of everything with full instructions on what to do everything went FLAWLESS and very quick. I got the new ballast shipped out the following day! Recently i bought a pair of 3Five ballasts as the ones i have for my retrofitted headlights are an older model and i wanted to upgrade. ,I bought them on Monday and they shipped a few days later. I started out retrofitting a Toyota Pickup with a Mini H1 v4.1 setup, and everything went extremely smooth and TRS provided plenty of help and answered every one of my questions quickly. I moved on to a Ford Focus, again with an H1 v4.1 setup and again everything was smooth. I was using DDM bulbs/ballasts on both setups initially but after product issues repeatedly crept up I moved on to Morimoto 3Five bulbs and ballasts, ending with XB35 bulbs in the Focus. Every part I've ordered from TRS has been fantastic quality. After I did my own personal cars I started doing friends setups, FXR v1.1, Mini V5, Mini V6, Mini D2S and an Evo X setup - if I have an issue such as a faulty harness control box a brand new one gets sent out right away. Any issue I've had in the 10+ kits I've dealt with has been install error or mistreatment of product, TRS has helped me figure out each issue every step of the way. I've never dealt with a company like TRS that has provided such excellent customer service and provides such an excellent product. I've been a TRS customer since late 2009 and have completed 3 retrofits using parts purchased from them. The customer service has always been great, even as they went from a small business in Ohio to their expansion and opening the shop in ATL. There have been two occasions where either the wrong piece of a wiring harness or the wrong bulbs were sent to me and these mistakes were corrected quickly by Matt and his staff. I couldn't be happier with my retrofits as I have done both advanced and simple ones. Most recently I put the retro-quick system on our Camry and it's great. Being able to simply bolt on the Mini H1 projectors to the stock projector locations is great. My Tacoma retrofit was much more advanced as I used the FX-R projectors and had to custom mount and aim everything. For the fogs on my truck I retrofitted the Matchbox projectors into the stock housings and am able to utilize the high beam function of them with my FX-R high beams. It's an impressive feature and unique! TRS has allowed me to enjoy my hobby and provides everything I need to do so in one storefront. That is hard to find folks. After trying to get a warranty replacement from the Clowns & Morons at DDM tuning( Tuning their wallets maybe...) I decided to research for a quality engineered hid kit from a company whose staff was as top notch as its product line and customer service. The ONLY company who stood out from the crowd was The Retrofit Source. I spoke to Zach and Matt ...and after deliberating on the right choice for me, between the Kelvin color, Ideal wattage balance, and warranty terms, I made the right choice! XB Bulbs, 35 watt ballasts and waited for the arrival. Installed this amazing looking kit in about 30-40 minutes, Tested the lights, corrected the pas side connector to oe plug( for trigger) bundled wires, secured, And the lights came on without a hitch. 48-72 hours later, the ballasts and bulbs have " even intensified in luminosity from the break-in luminosity. Even better, this 35 watt kit is brighter and immensely superior to the crap sold by DDM Tuning. Great Job TRS ! This is what its all about! Let me just say that these guys have been great to deal with. I first found TRS through an F-150 forum I frequent and they had rave reviews. I started to dig into the website and see what they could offer. I am a huge lighting guy, nothing over the top but something distinct and different and I must say TRS offers a little bit of everything from mild to wild. After drooling over the page for a couple hours I was bummed to find out the Morimoto XB LED fog lights for my truck were not yet available, I didn't care I pre-ordered them anyways because I couldn't wait! I received the lights and they were much better quality than I expected for the price point. The install was simple and the light output was great. Due to the great experience and customer service I received, I decided to purchase the Morimoto XB D3S headlight bulbs to Replace my OEM lights. Looking forward to seeing the new output once they arrive! Highly recommend you purchase from these guys, I can't imagine a scenario where you end up disappointed ! read more

I was excited on ordering my Relay-h11, 35AMP, XBH11-5K kit. From all my research and all the positive reviews retrofit source was the best choice. From the quality of the ballast to the perfection of the bulb, you can tell that retrofit source cares about their product quality and longevity of the products. As a customer I am fairly impressed with the overall experience in ordering the product online to the ease of the installation. I am used to purchasing the china ballast and HID bulbs but with this product the customer does not have to worry about imperfections as the product is perfect. Just installed the H7 Elite HID system, and I couldn't be happier. The Morimoto ballasts were backordered and delivery was a week late, but it was well worth it. The light looks incredible...crisp, clear and very (very) well defined. I opted for the XB35 bulbs and I honestly think they look better than some of the stock HIDs I see on the road. Would definitely recommend making the move to this system. I have an 07 Subaru Legacy and installation was straight forward...took about an hour and a half, but that's mostly because this is my first ever DIY installation on a car! The video tutorial is very helpful, though I would send a word of advice: the relevant video calls for making a 7/8" hole in the projector cover to allow for the wiring to go from the bulb to the can-bus and the ballast. However, I found that 7/8" was too small, and the connector that goes to the can-bus needs a 1" whole at least. The rubber will seal it completely, and its a very easy installation overall. read more

This was the first time I have ever bought HIDs and I wanted to make sure I get my money's worth. After doing a lot of research and seeing the recommendations from a few forums, I went with TRS to get the H11: Morimoto Elite HID System. I ordered the kit on a Tuesday and it arrived that Thursday. Everything inside the kit, from the ballasts to the wiring harness, were of excellent quality. I had one issue with my bulbs and that was because the bulb adapter did not match my bulbs but that was quickly taken care of after getting the quick responses from customer service. Shout out to Giovanni and Jamielle for helping me out and quickly sending out the correct adapter. After I received the adapter, I went ahead and installed the kit. Very easy install since everything was plug and play. No cutting or mods involved and the end result was too sweet. Bright output without blinding everyone on the road. Definitely changed my night backroad driving forever. Thank you TRS. read more

TRS is an awesome company and what makes it amazing than it already is, is the amazing staff! One guy in particular is Andrew, Andrew helped me with my Ford F-150 retrofit and he supplied me with everything i needed to get started and he provided me with so many decals (the decals are really the only reason i shop here) ;) . No, but in all seriousness TRS is a great company with great people.
