SCAM BOYS OF SANDY SPRINGS. I went in for repair of a tire with a nail in middle of tread. Even though the tire tread was thicker than the wear indicator on tire they said they wouldn't repair it. They supposedly measured tread on very edge of tire as being not thick enough. Mind you mail is in thick tread area. Also, when they took me to look at tire up on rack the tech said you need an oil change - even though he didn't know anything about mileage. I still had 2500 miles until next oil change. The other salesman said oh your indicator light tells us you need an oil change. GMAFB. They didn't read the indicator or clear it. It had come on at 40,000 miles by default. read more

Kind of amazing to discover the same kind of reviews, but yes, this pep boys is a straight up scam. I went in for a brake light that was out. I was told the entire assembly had to be replaced and the cost was $400 for the part- which I looked up before going in and already knew never cost more than $150- with labor the whole thing would be over $500. I was like, no, and left. Went to another mechanic, hoping to at least not get gouged. Well, not ONLY was it just the bulb, the bulb wasn't even burnt out- just loose!! October 25, 2022 I took my car by to see if they could plug a rear tire that had picked up a nail. Long story short, they replaced two rear tires. Before doing so, I asked that they install tires with a low noise rating since I drive a Mercedes convertible. After leaving I began hearing a a hum between 17-26 mph that you could hear over music and conversations. After researching, i discovered they had installed Light truck/SUV tires. And they are not quiet. $770 wasted since I will be having them removed and replaced with appropriate tires. read more

I had an appointment to have a tire repaired. They told me they do not patch a tire that has already been plugged. A plug is a temporary fix until you can get a patch installed. They told me the only option was to buy a new tire. Evidently the road hazard warranty I bought from them when I purchased 4 new tires is useless. They don't want to repair. Beware the merchandise side is not actually run by Pep Boys but a firm called Autoplus. The way the store is run is a reminder why retailers are losing business to Amazon... no customer service. Store is usually empty except for a clerk named Monad who has no training or people skills and tells people he is the manager when he is not. I purchased $30.14 of merchandise on October 30. I have tried to return it with my receipt twice to a clerk named Monad who rudely has told me he doesn't do returns and there never is a store manager that I can talk to.  Two of the items I simply didn't need  and the other was in a defective  bottle that leaked all over my carpet. Finally had to reach out to corporate and my bank to get satisfaction. I returned them within the time frame of a Pep Boys return policy with the receipt. read more

Don't waste your time or money. Scheduled online an oil change, 2 rear brake pads, and tire rotation for 10am. Dropped off at 9:50am. At 1:00pm I come back to see what's taking so long. Car is sitting in parking lot. I check and see brake pads are done, oil is changed, but tires are not rotated. At front desk I'm told they were, but I point out that I numbered them to make sure they were rotated and they clearly had not been. Caught them in a lie. Apologies and 20 more minutes later I get my car. 3 1/2 hours for simple oil change and 2 brake pads. read more

Service is horrible. To start off, the Manager has a terrible attitude and personality and is pretty rude. Had 4 tires mounted and balanced. They could not get it right. After three times going back for rebalance due to bad vibration, I went somewhere else to learn that they just kept applying weights to the wheel to attempt to balance. The last time (3rd balance), the car was shaking so bad that it was almost undrivable. Go to DeKalb tire instead down the toad. They are very knowledgeable and get it right the first time. read more

I brought my high top van in after traveling the east coast and was told it would not fit in their shop even though they changed my oil at this exact location 2 months prior. I almost left at that point when I realized the guy looked new and maybe he just didn't know. I continued on inside where I gave them my keys asking for an oil change and inspection, they said it would be about an hour. I decided to run to the grocery store and do some errands. Fast forward 2 hours later and I call because they close in an hour and ask for an update. They say they just started and will be done soon. Almost an hour later they call 10 min before they close and tell me it's ready. I am 20 min away so I ask them if they could stay 10 min late and they LEAVE MY KEY ON MY DRIVERS SEAT. I asked over the phone if there was anything else they thought the van could use as it's been out on the road for a few months and they said no.. which I find hard to believe. Fast forward 2 months later to now and I can't get my oil drain out. I am livid. I should've known when Micheal wasn't working there anymore something was wrong. After my oil change and inspection at Rick Hendricks Toyota, they recommended 2 new tires, so I made an appointment with Pep Boys to save money. I saved money, but not time and aggravation. It took 3 1/2 hours WITH an appointment! They didn't even begin working on my car until after I had been there for 2 hours. And 30 minutes after they began working on it, one of the employees says that I need 4 tires because my other 2 don't meet the recommended DOT tread thickness. I've been planning to replace my very old car for over a year now, and haven't gotten to it. In that time, I've put off any kind of maintenance... expecting to trade it in at any moment. Checked the oil this afternoon, and realized... there basically was none! The amazingly helpful person working at Pep Boys helped me figure out what type of oil (and how much) I needed for my car. When I came back (after realizing that there was almost no coolant too!) - she again walked me to the right section, explained what I needed to look for, and helped me get the right coolant. It sounds like a small thing, but I'm not really a car person - and was otherwise pretty lost (and in a panic!). I knew the type of oil (from the manual), but was a bit uncertain about different brands and synthetic (versus not). I had no clue what type of coolant I needed and didn't see anything in the manual. Well, here's the initial part of the belt breaking on my car story.... I was at the Walgreens right down the street from this location when it snapped, at 5:45 on Saturday evening last week. I called the location, verified they had the belt in stock, they did have a tech there to fix it, they were open til 8:00pm, and they could get it done right then. I'm only a half a block away so I could safely get my car there without a tow. I arrived, pulled up to the service bay doors, and that's when the shit hit the fan... The service manager came out, asked me to follow him inside. Gave him my info, he tapped on the computer keyboard a bit, quoted me a COMPLETELY different price (almost $75 MORE), and then told me they would have to "look at it to see if it had any other damage. I'm not an idiot, I could have fixed it myself if I had been back home in TN with my tools and jacks, a belt breaking isn't that big an ordeal when it's got over 150K miles on it... I didn't lose my temper, I didn't grumble, I just needed my car fixed. THEN the manager goes out, chats with the tech who had his head under my hood, they shook heads at each other and then the tech got in his truck and left. Manager comes back in and says "We don't have the tools to fix it..." BULLSHIT!!!! At this point, I'm furious. You've quoted me the wrong price, jacked it up, told me you can't fix it, and lied to me that you didn't have the tools... I asked for the paperwork with my name/info on it, and walked out calmly to my car to leave. The manager then comes out into the shop and says at the top of his lungs "YOU CAN GET PISSED OFF IF YOU WANT TO..." and I simply let him know that I wasn't pissed about the car not getting fixed there, I could get it done somewhere else, but making the assumption and making an ass out of himself and getting mad at me about it wasn't doing him any good. Today's visit was for two new tires for my rear end they were way over due for replacement and starting to worry me. George was the person assisting me today and he gets props for service ! After giving me a quote I realized I'd paid less for the tires bought for the front end of the car last time and asked if they match prices from one location to the next and they do. He made the call to find out what had been paid last time waited on hold for far to long and had to repeat himself several times then got the info he needed. Yes, I did pay a few dollars less last time and the price was quickly changed. George was able to get me in now and moved service along quickly(40 min) and even called me when they were done, Thank you. read more

I generally understand that car service and maintenance can take a while and run off schedule. However, when I take the time to make an appt for service I believe it's reasonable to at least have your car service begin within 20 mins of the appt. Otherwise don't provide an appt time to begin with! The first time I went in I waited fifteen minutes and was not even able to find a service person to talk to. So I left and rescheduled online. Went back the next day and it was over forty minutes before my car was even moved from the parking lot. This is complexly unacceptable. Never at any other service place - Midas, jiffy, Goodyear etc have I ever waited so long. All they could say was "sorry" we are busy. Will not be coming back here for service. I would have wanted to give them more stars but it just isn't going to work out. I went in to get new tires back in January and will was only supposed to take 45 minutes took over three hours. After complaining about the lack of customer service and constant miss information I was given a free oil change whenever I come back. After coming back for the oil change I ran to the same problem. Very little communication and what should only take 30 minutes took two hours. Although I appreciate them honoring and giving me the discounted service the customer service still needs to be tweaked. Definitely not my first bad experience at a Pep Boys. I have gone to several locations all throughout the city there's just something about this company I'm not sure what it is but they really do a lackluster job. I just called this location and spoke with a service tech, asking if I should have transmission service done on my car (which has 175,000 miles on it). He told me it's not something he'd recommend, as generally over 125,000 doing this can create problems with the transmission which don't currently exist. Much appreciated, honest advice. DO NOT place an online order and visit this location. I placed an order around 10:45am and arrived at the store at 12:30pm. I did not yet receive my email to say the order was ready for pickup, but thought I could arrive and pick everything out myself. I placed the order online to receive the 30% discount being offered. Upon arrival, the girl at the front seemed very helpful and willing to help me locate my merchandise. After 15-20 minutes of walking around the store, I found all of the items on my order, although two had different UPCs than the online order. Ok, so I am new to actually attempting to take care of my own car. I asked a friend if they would come with me to help change my wipers. So off we went, used the book and got the wipers. My friend put them on and was like "hmm a little wobbly but they seem secure" I should have marched back in right then and asked someone who actually knows something. Here comes our 2016 Rain Snow storm, I am driving in the rain and woop there goes the passenger wiper to my shock. Then this morning fortunately before pulling out I noticed the same tragedy was about to happen on the drivers side, i re-wobbly-secured it but used it only when absolutely necessary. I then attempted to find, in the snow this morning, but my brand new wiper was gone. I went back to pep boys resolved that yes I would have to purchase a new wiper but this time I would ask for help. Maggie the manager and David were fantastic, they are what customer service should be. David helped me find the right wipers and put them on securely. Maggie then accepted the return of my gently used wiper. They made the experience pleasurable and I felt a sense of community in the whole experience. If felt good. Negative five stars!!! Horrible customer service!!! I went there on rainy Saturday evening, I just recently bought a used work van only to find out during a heavy rains that the wiper blades were very bad. So I googled the nearest auto parts store near me and that's were it took me (6521 Roswell rd) I soon as I arrived I seen an employee in the parking lot about to get in what appeared to be a customer car so I rolled my window down and ask him if they sold wiper blades there? He looked at me and said "your joking right" and just got inside the customer car left. The only pep boys I ever shopped at is the one near my home in Kennesaw that's where's I bought my tires for my daughters car and that store only does service they don't sell any other automotive parts so that's why I asked the employee in the parking lot if they sold wiper blades. I went inside and at the checkout counter there was one employee working with a customer As I walked to the aisle where the wiper blades were, I was looking for a book so I could look up my vehicles wiper blade fitment. there was no book so, I started to browse the store to give the employee time to deal with the customer in front of him, after browsing for 10 to 15 minutes I notice that there were two employees sitting at the service counter with no customers in front of them, so I headed over to service counter hoping to get either one of the two to look up my vehicle information so could go and pick out the right size blades, when I started to walk over there the female happened to get up and walk into the service area and following behind her was the older man which I believe was the store manager. As he was walking in front of the counter he looked right at me and without any kind of expression he just continued without even saying a "hello" or "hang on we will be right back" (No customer training on this guy for sure) so I hung around the counter for a few minutes and realized that they might be gone for a while so I then went back to browsing through the isles for like 5 minutes or so and then I saw that they were back at there counter. So walked back over there and I noticed the female was sitting there typing on her personal cell phone it had a glitter case on it. "I said excuse me ma'am" I had to repeat my self at least twice before she lifted her head up from her phone to even acknowledge me in front of her counter space and I asked her "could I please get you to look up my wiper blades for my vehicle" And soon as said that the older man next to her told me "you can go over to that counter and he can help you" I informed him that he has been very busy with that customer for long time and that I have being waiting for quite a while. And just want someone to look up my vehicle information And I see that she is on her cellphone and I would like to have someone look up my wiper blades. She(Melissa)with a very angry tone told me that " I'm not on my cellphone I'm working on a quote for a customer using my cellphone and that she is now NOT going to help me!" the older man next to her which I'm sure is her manager did not offer to help me either he actually looked at me like if I had s**t on my face. so I turned around and seen that the other employee was still busy with that one original customer so at that point I didn't see why I would spend any of my hard earned money there. I ended driving a block down the street had to pull over and park as the rain was heavy and I couldn't safely travel. after waiting for about 30 to 40 for the rain to slow I able to find an advance auto parts a few miles up the road. Right away they acknowledge me by saying "Hello how can we help you today" they looked up my blades and installed them as well for free even though it was lightly raining at the time. Had a fantastic experience. Went there to get new tires, which was my third set from them, and the assistant manager David was very helpful and pleasant to work with. Since the tires I wanted were not in stock at this location, David personally went and picked them up at another location for me. Not only that, he gave me a super good deal on them as well. If I could give 0 zero stars I would as I am far worse off then when I came in. I took my car in for a simple oil change. After waiting an hour they were done and I went on my way. Thank god I stopped for gas 2 miles down the road. When I parked every fluid in my car was leaking and my ABS light came on so I couldn't even start my car. I had to have my car towed back to that location in order for them to fix whatever they did. When they realized they had obviously messed up, they tried to blame it on prior existing leaks and a dead battery. None of which had been a problem before I came in, not to mention, if they were there before the oil change then why didn't they notice something so bad that it forced me to get a tow 2 miles away in the routine inspection that came with the oil change. After fixing it barely enough for me to drive it home. It now will not start and has sporadic leaks. Truly the worst car experience of my life. They refunded me the price of the oil change and the price of the tow, but now I have to put in lengthy and costly repairs to issues that they had done. This facility is a joke. I went in on a friday night to get a price for front and rear differential fluid for my vehicle. After learning the price, I wanted to ask one more question in which he proceeded to get the mechanic guy named DAN. Dan walked out like he had the upmost attitude. Just a complete jerk. After answering my question I proceeded to set up an appointment with the front desk worker. My appointment was scheduled for the next day ,which was Saturday , at 9am . I brought my vehicle in at 9am and left it with them. My wife and I returned at 11 and our car still have not been worked on . We asked how longer would it be and front desk worker have us an estimate of 4 more hours. At 3pm I called to ask if my vehicle was ready and they told me it was going in for work soon. What's the point of making a 9am appointment and my vehicle still have not been serviced 6 hours later. I would never go back to this pep boys again and I wouldn't recommend anyone else to go here.
