The Ridge has really solid pizza, a well-stocked bar, and a friendly staff. I do like the Neopolitan-style which is so en vogue in Seattle these days, but sometimes, I like a little more cheese, meat, and carbs, and Ridge delivers on all three. The crust while thin is much more substantial than let's say Tutta Bella. But it's every but as tasty and I found myself not leaving a piece behind. They do pizza by the slide for lunch, but it's a better deal to get a fresh baked personal pie cooked to order. There is a decent selection of liquor as well as about a dozen beers on draft. The bar tender, Mary, was taking care of the entire place during lunch and doing a great job. Definitely a good place for pizza, and bonus points for being open during lunch! read more

The Ridge rocks! The local owners have quickly achieved what it takes some places years to do: they've made a comfortable, fun, lively neighborhood hangout. It's a little loud but not overly, and I really loved that they were playing ska the night I came in. The space has several varied sections: bar and dining on the main level, semi private reservable area and open kitchen view seating a few steps up in the mezzanine. Cold? Got a child who'd like to watch the pizza cooking? Sit at the counter looking into the kitchen. Their pizza's delicious with perfect crust, and I love the philanthropic pies. It's really closer to a 3.5, but I gotta support my hood. LOCATION/HOURS: nice, right on Greenwood next door to Ken's Market. Both are open relatively late. HAPPY HOUR: yes, new, decent. SERVICE: with a smile. The owner is usually around and cares a great deal. COMMUNITY: this is a neighborhood joint, supporting local businesses and causes, and aimed at getting everyone to hang out. PIZZA: almost pretty darn good. I'm an east coaster, so hard to please. Let's break it down further: - Sauce - excellent. Tastes of San Marzano style tomatoes, a tiny bit spicy and some herbal/garlic notes. Vibrant. - Cheese - very stringy, chewy. Tastes like quality. Could use a broiler element. Aged provolone added might help. You've GOT to let the cheese get browned - that is where all the true pizza flavor comes from!!! - Crust - great AT the location. Not as great at home. It's thinner, puffs up well and tastes yeasty. Could use more beer maybe? Or developing? There is little chew to it. And what IS it with everyone in the NW undercooking the pizzas? The crust is wet doughy, simply NOT COOKED THROUGH! They need to add at least one minute to their cooking time. Seriously. - Cold/next day? - Nope. This is one pizza that does NOT hold up as leftovers. Hope they never stoop to bottled chopped garlic in formaldehyde (so to speak) or cheaper ingredients in general. APPS/SALADS/ETC.: Nice selection. BEVERAGES: great beer and wine choices, standards for non-alcoholic are fine. There's milk for the kids and stuff. DECOR: Cool, a bit cold. Looks hand-crafted and kind of retro. BATHROOMS: Clean, well-maintained and stocked. ACCESSIBILITY/KIDS: Seems to be accommodating, but there are stairs to the next level. Kids menu/crayons, etc. DELIVERY/TAKEOUT? No delivery. Takeout is available, but no where to wait/sit/pay. ACOUSTICS: AWFUL. This place is freaking LOUD. They need to introduce something like fiber wall hangings or large canvas art pieces. The echos and noise from the bar prevent conversations. Mostly, it's the LOUD TV or LOUD MUSIC. NOTE TO OWNER: Your staff has to realize the music/TV is not on for them or to drown out the customers. If you want a hood/community built, people need to be able to TALK TO EACH OTHER. This place is quite the gem. To begin with the pizzas are expertly made with care. The ingredients are top of the line. The crust is amazing. There is a great crispness on the edge with a good chew on the base of the pizza. Secondly the customer service was fantastic. Our waiter Chris was extremely attentive and knowledgable. The head chef Brian was very personable. He takes great passion in his craft. The pizza cook Damon was a machine. I LOVED this place! Heading down South to celebrate a friends birthday he said we were going to meet up at a new pizza joint in his neighborhood. I am always dubious when going to a new place but my fears were quickly put to rest. I fell in love with the industrial design interior the minute I walked in. Polished Cement Floors, Wood Booths, Polished but raw weld metal mixed with wood and metal light fixtures paired with warm lighting was totally inviting, casual but elegant. Our server, Lisa, was right on top of things when we walked in the door and had great suggestions that lead a couple of us who didn't want beers, to try two of their signature drinks. "The Hemingway Daiquiri" is a lovely mixture of Bacardi Rum, Maraschino Liqueur, Lime and Grapefruit Juice served in a martini glass. Went here with two other couples who live in the Phinney Ridge neighborhood last Saturday night for dinner. At first I was put off because we were seated in between two large tables with kids galore, a few of which were screaming bloody murder and running around like savages. Since the other two couples are regulars at this place, one of the guys kindly asked for us to be moved away from the Chuck E. Cheese section into a more "adult" area, and fortunately they had another open table that they relocated us to right away. Ahhhhh....now we can enjoy our dinner. Ok, on to the food. Since our friends are experts at The Ridge and have a system already in place, we pretty much let them take the reigns on this one. It's customary for the girls in the group to share a salad and the boys to share a sandwich, so we girls had the spinach salad and the boys split a Marty's meatball sando 3 ways. I wasn't floored by the salad...it was good but nothing remarkable. The BF let me sneak a couple bites of the sandwich, and it was delicious! It doesn't sound good by the menu description, especially since they use turkey to make their meatballs, but trust me that it's VERY tasty! We ordered a couple of large pizzas to share, and they were both better than I expected. The BF and I wanted the Lardude (self-explanatory...it's lard, dude!), and the others built another pizza with both meat and a few veggies. It was obvious that the ingredients used for both were high-quality and fresh, and they do a good job with the crust to topping and sauce ratio . They aren't stingy with the toppings, so each bite is bursting with flavor! The BF and I toasted a couple of the leftover Lardude pieces the next day and we agreed that it was still almost as good as it had been at the restaurant. Overall I was thoroughly pleased with our night out at The Ridge. I now understand why our friends go there often, and I'm jealous my neighborhood doesn't spoil me like theirs spoils them. read more

BF and I were hungry for a bite so we decided to stop off here. We were pretty pleasantly surprised! The ambiance was cute and they had a pretty decent happy hour that was until 11pm on Tuesday evening. We ordered some beer, a cheese pizza, and the artichoke dip. Everything was pretty average, but not terrible. The artichoke dip was tangy and spicy and had some good flavors, but the crostinis were just okay. We have been really excited for this place to open, and they did not disappoint! We went in on MLK day, at around 5pm. It was already packed! We got a table right away in the back of the restaurant, which was really nice because it was a little quieter back there. The decor is awesome (especially the lighting)! I had the Avanti and my boyfriend had The Community Center ($1 goes to the phinney/greenwood community center, and there's others that part of cost goes to charities, as well- ALSO awesome). The pizza crust and sauce were delicious and the ingredients were really fresh. We didn't get a salad, but holy moly they looked great, as did the sandwiches. The hostess and servers were so friendly and kind. It was REALLY busy, but the timing for food was good, considering. The owner (I think) was also friendly and really took good care of us. Good, solid pizza here. The crust was tasty and chewy, thicker than the thin-crust pizzas that seem to be taking over the world of late. The tomato base is delicious and the thing I noticed most about the cheese pie I got there the other day...the tomato base definitely has a little kick to it, a little spiciness...not sure if they have some chili pepper or black pepper in there, but either way, keep doing whatever that is! Yum! The featured pizzas are named after significant places or people in the Phinney Ridge neighborhood...I love that connection and it's a nice little mash note to the awesome Phinney-Greenwood corridor, which seems to be weathering the storm of gentrification better than a lot of other North Seattle neighborhoods... Speaking of connection to the neighborhood, The Ridge has several "charity case" pizzas; they donate $1 to charitable causes for each of these that are ordered. That is so cool, and these are significant organizations too, supporting local school PTAs, firefighters, and the excellent Phinney Neighborhood Association that does a thousand different things for this here 'hood. Way to go, Ridge! (I need to ask them if I can get a charity case pizza but have them hold the meat...none of them are veggie as described, and one of them apparently has pasta on it. The Ridge is exactly what I want my high end neighborhood pizza joint to be. Owner operated, community focused, inventive and delicious. I always start with an order of Garlic Cheese Bread. There are few things in this world more satisfying than garlicky French bread covered in melted cheese. We went with a large half PNA and half Hecho (Their online menu is outdated). The Hecho is a wonderfully strange mix of pizza and Mexican. We were skeptical but when it was paraded by us we couldn't say no. It was surprising but undeniably delicious! The Ridge is a great place for a get-together, to watch a game, even just to pop in for dinner. The prices might be a little high, but the passion and quality poured into the food more than make up for it. Stop by and you won't be disappointed. Fair warning this is a family spot so expect there to be some children running around during normal dinner hours. read more

I've been to this spot about 3 or 4 times before for our large family birthday parties (typically about 15 or so of us) because it's a great spot to fit a lot of family in. I went with my parents yesterday to get a pizza with them. Unfortunately for me, I have a diary intolerance and have to always order a mini kids pizza for myself separately without cheese. This has always been accommodated by the wonderful staff each time i have come, until last night. The waitress named Sky said that they can only offer this to children. I told her I have done this many times in the past and she would not let me. So I said, can we order a pizza together and then on a quarter of it without cheese and she said, no we can only do half of it with no cheese. This is definitely ridiculous because my family doesn't want to eat pizza without cheese and im not going to eat a whole half pizza by myself. I have worked in a pizza joint before, and it is not hard to make a simple accommodation for your guest to stop sprinkling cheese on a quarter of a pizza versus half of it. I said "ok, ill have to order something else", and she never came back to ask if i decided on anything or seemed to care that I was just sitting there while i had to watch my parents eat pizza while I went with no food. Terrible waitress and it only would have benefited the company to have another item on their bill which would have probably been another $8-10 or so. I get if you want to be strict on your policies but they way you go about it say "We aren't supposed to do this but we will do it for you this last one time but in the future, we will not be able to do this for you" so I can at least EAT! Definitely will take our business and family pizza party's elsewhere after this un-accommodating waitress. read more

The burned cheese pizza that came out last night was the final straw. Overall an ok pizza, but they will take every opportunity to add charges to your bill. We ordered a pizza that came on the menu with peppers and asked for half of the pizza to just have pineapple instead of peppers and were charged 2.50 for the pineapple AND 2.50 for the peppers. Then when the pizza came we asked for sides of ranch and we charged 1.50 for each side of ranch. So at the end of the day we had about $10 of nickel and dime charged on our bill and some meh pizza. Great neighborhood place! I've lived in the neighborhood for 5 years, and frequent The Ridge often; but, needed to say my piece and give them their due props. Staff is always friendly, and depending on the time of day/night, can be very family oriented, and great place for kids to be with their families and socialize with other kids. Later in the evening, it's always nice to hit late night Happy Hour (9-11pm), and catch up on sports. There are always fans in attendance for just about every sport playing on any given day. My favorite pizza is definitely "Ken's Market", and the quintessential "meat lovers" pizza at The Ridge. They have some nice rotating taps, and some great staples as well. If you live in the area, or are just visiting - stop by! read more

nom nom nom. I haven't started a review like that in a while!!! Hallelujah for a great pizza joint in the neighborhood that isn't a chain. This isn't no Domino's, so don't expect to pay under 20$ for one pizza. But don't you worry, it's totally worth it. I love that they titles the pizza's after the shops in the area. Ken's Market Combo and The Avanti have been my two must haves. The pizza is doughy and fluffy and crispy at the same time. Loaded with toppings and comes piping hot, even when you order for delivery. I've only seen the front of the joint when I hopped in to pick up a pizza on the way home, so I didn't get to see much, but as the looks of it it's a fun neighborhood type of restaurant that's fun for families and adults who want to sit in the bar and grab a cold brewskie. read more

Can be a little loud and there seems to a lot of kids running around, but they have flavorful pizza with something for everyone. The restaurant is long and skinny, with a lot of wood and a shuffleboard table. My husband is a no-nonsense, i'd rather have Dominos kind of guy. And I like my pizza fancy. Ridge allowed us to do a half his/half hers pizza, which is very convenient! It is a bit expensive for pizza, but they have great red sauce and quality ingredients. Stopped in here on whim after a drive by and reading some Yelp! reviews. I'm so glad we did!!! First off, the menu is great. Each pizza is named for another shop/restaurant in Phinney Ridge. We each had a salad and then got the 18" Two Birds. Oh. My. Goodness. So yummy! I had the spinach salad which was ok. The dressing was a little tart for my taste and didn't have much flavor other than that. But when the pizza came it more than made up for it. The flavor profile was to die for. Pesto with artichoke hearts and gorgonzola is a fabulous combination. The chicken was fresh and moist. If I worked at Two Birds, I'd be proud to have this pizza named after my establishment! The pizza was HUGE, too! 2 pieces was more than enough for each of use which gave us 2 days of leftovers. It reheats really well, too. Couldn't ask for a better pizza. Had the Chop Salad and Ken's Market Pizza. The chop salad was alright, had a little too much dressing on it. It was also a little light with the meats. The Pizza was really not great. It's hard to pinpoint what was wrong with it, because the crust was pretty blackened. The burnt taste really overpowered the pizza. In retrospect, I should have asked for another. The Ridge has my favorite pizza in all of Seattle. Not only is the crust amazing but all of the topping combinations that they suggest are so artfully put together. My favorite is The Zoo Pizza. The best part of going to The Ridge is that they give credit to other great establishments in the Greenwood Area by naming the pizzas after them and then each year donate proceeds from selected pizzas to charity. Nothing better than amazing food and philanthropy. An additional feature that makes The Ridge such a great place is the happy hour and the great drinks that are featured. This is also a wonderful place for a larger group including kids to go eat. A little bit of everything for everyone. Been twice... First trip this past summer had ok service but enjoyed the pie and beer selection. Went again yesterday... Was seated after short wait then watched 3 different waitresses serve the 2 tables closest to us but no one acknowledged us. Sat there almost 20 minutes before we finally just got up and left. I would have rated this new neighborhood pizza/pub joint higher, but they just opened over the weekend and I feel that they need to smooth out the kinks in the seating, ordering and waiting area. I would like to go back when they have had some more time to take command and understand the ebb and flow of customers. I also would like to see the seating arrangement worked out more thoroughly....they have giant booths set up front and communal tables that they split when not being fully used.....the booths were filled single digit occupants. The people working, the decor and the atmosphere were all great and the food was excellent - just took awhile to get an order in and out with the amount of people swamping the place. They have multiple options for pizza, pasta, sandwhiches and appetizers and stuff for kids even...I like the option of being able to create your own pie! LOUD! As mentioned in almost every review, this place is LOUD! The place is decorated industrial modern, which meals tall wood booths and concrete everything, which also means the sounds really does carry. My suggestion would be to get take out or go after the family dinner rush. I've been here after 8pm and had a very quiet and fun dinner. I am all for family friendly establishments (and families), but for some reason the families The Ridge attracts treat the restaurant more like a jungle gym than a restaurant. The 1st time I visited The Ridge I watched a child race through the bar and straight into a server who happened to have 2 large pizzas in her hand barely missing dropping them on customers. The second time watched a child push a glass off the table which happen to hit the concrete just right shattering shards of glass all over our newly delivered pizza and salads, not to mention hitting us as well. Bummer. That said the pizzas and salads I've had are awesome! Prost, sounds weird but the sweet and tangy meets spicy is really good. Very good leftovers too! We also tried one that had turkey meatballs, so good! The Family Style Chop salad was delicious too! It was more than plenty for our party of 5. read more

My husband and I went to The Ridge for an early dinner on a Saturday night. Service was good. We ordered a family style chopped salad and a 12" gluten free pizza . The pizza was good, the salad was disappointing. It was just a bunch of romaine swimming in vinegar. A few pieces of salami and a little bit of shredded mozzarella were the toppings. At the end of dinner we were still kind of hungry. A not very filling salad, a pizza and two beers were almost $50 before tip ($3 is extra for the gluten free crust). We were there opening night. We got there just before 5:30 and it was already busy enough to create a 45 minute wait - instead we grabbed the last 2 seats in the bar and ended up ordering food there. Atmosphere was lively and fun, and the beer and drink selection was good. We ordered a salad and Firehouse pizza. There were some oven issues (again, opening night), so it took about 45 minutes to get our food. The bartender apologized and bought us drinks to help make up for it - well handled and we were in no hurry. The pizza was great. Good ingredients and excellent, crunchy crust. The Ridge is in the Greenwood/Phinney Ridge area, on Greenwood Ave. The vibe inside was casual and relaxing. This reminded me a neighborhood watering hole, but much cleaner with table games in the back! I shared a smaller-sized pie with a very charming guest on a weekend night. We did a split: 1/2 "Two Birds (Pesto, Artichokes, Spinach, Chicken ), 1/2 "Ken's Market Combo (Shrooms, Olives, Onions, Pep, Sausage)". We requested that one of the halves be prepared meatless - the waitress gladly fulfilled our request. Ok, let's get technical: The style of pizza here is prepared with a crust that's thicker than your standard (foldable) NY-style pie, but thinner than an authentic Chicago-style deep dish. It works pretty well. The beer selection is interesting but not overly large. It seems like the owners rotate a few seasonal brews in with the standard choices. We noticed, however, that our server was NOT a beer drinker. I would encourage this person to admit this immediately upon solicitation for a beer recommendation. read more

Ridge has officially won me over. In my previous review I had thought of the place as just average but I have changed my view upon trying it a few different times. The Carmelita pizza is the most delicious pizza I have ever consumed in my life. The vegetables are fresh and cooked perfectly - the roasted garlic is the star of the show!! The pizza is packed with loads of veggies but the crust still seems to be perfectly crisp. The small ceasar salad is huge and the lettuce is very fresh - I also love the ceasar becuse the dressing isn't thick and creamy like other's I've had in the past. The service lately has been great and I love the fact that the menu is filled with neighborhood references! Although the food is pricey It's nice to support a local business especially when the quality of the food is so wonderful. read more
