Rolling rooster has amazing comfort-soul food! When you walk in R&B is usually playing and it's a cozy vibe inside. I'm not out this way often, so when I am I indulge. I ordered the 3 piece, 2 sides and cornbread. The fried chicken was crispy, well seasoned and very fresh! I also ordered a side of greens which weren't as good as the last time I had them but tasted fine. I also ordered cornbread which was fluffy with a hint of sweetness. Service was standard and friendly! They usually have teens working the register or serving and they did forget one of my sides. I got my order to go so I didn't realize until I got home. I'd love to try the oxtails next time I come! The RED VELVET waffles are a must!!!!

I ordered through Uber Eats. My taste buds are dancing. Idky it took me so long to try rolling rooster. I got the 4 piece fish with 2 sides. The fish was well seasoned and still crispy even after it being delivered. It wasn't too salty but also not bland/plain. I was also pleased with the size of each piece. (In the picture, I held up some ketchup next to it to show the size) For sides I got sweet potato's and collard greens. The sweet potatoes were the right amount of sweetness and the greens were flavorful and also not bland. I didn't even need to add salt and pepper. I will definitely be ordering again!

I went with my wife and youngest son. We really wanted to try the chicken and waffles and were able to sample the chicken wing, chicken tender and fish by ordering one of each as a 3pc & waffle. They were just flat out awesome! We went for a late lunch so there wasn't a crowd at all. Inside was clean and well maintained. The server was attentive.

Food was great, employees were very friendly and attentive. Drinks were really good. Nice place inside as well.

Pork chops, collard greens and Mac and chesse

The atmosphere was a decent vibe. The fried chicken which was bland, candy yams that tasted like the came out of a can with no sauce and you can't for the Mac and Cheese that had 5% chesse and 95% Mac. The Service was decent at first when we came in but after we decided to pack up our food and finish it at home after barely touching the food because it was that bad, the waitress then became rude to us when I asked for the check and to go box's. I don't recommend coming here.

My wife and I came in on a Saturday around 4 PM. The restaurant wasn't super busy or anything and we were able to get seated right away. Loved the throwback R&B music that was playing in the background throughout our dining experience. Definitely added to the vibe. The restaurant felt "older" inside. The restroom sticks out to me because of how dirty it was during our visit. It was pretty disgusting. Our server was very nice and attentive during our visit. I decided to order Chicken and Waffles with a side of Baked Mac & Cheese. The Mac & cheese was cheesy & delicious, and the chicken also came out with great flavor and crisp. The waffle was just okay. It tasted like it may have been laying out longer before it was topped off with chicken. It was cold and flimsy when I received it in front of me, which was disappointing. Overall we had an okay experience!

Came here for dinner with my boyfriend and I'm so glad I finally got to try this place out. Everything that we ordered was so so good! I got the fried fish with baked mac and cheese for my side and it was really good. The breads on the fish was super crispy! The Mac and cheese was pretty good but it came out and wasn't very hot but still good. The fried pickles here are perfect! Had a good crunch to them without the pickle being limp. They also came out super hot which I loved and the ranch was great. I tried my boyfriend's chicken and waffles and they were super good as well. Only critiques I have was that there was only one server so service was a little lacking. Otherwise I think this spot is great!

We are visiting from California and stop by accident and surprise surprise the best cat fish and fried chicken I've ever had moist in the inside crispy on the outside. The potato yams were bomb. The service was great, thee was a young girl going through training and she was very pleasant. The ambiance was casual but very clean which is huge for my husband and I. I recommend this place 109% don't miss out guys give it a chance. If I loved it believe me you are in great hands.

Small location but very tasty food. We were told to sit wherever we like but it took about 10 mins for a server to come take drink/food orders. Despite that the food came out relatively quickly after ordering and it was hot and delicious. It's not a fancy spot by any means but worth the visit for well seasoned chicken/fish/shrimp.

Rolling Rooster has a laid-back vibe, and the staff are friendly. They were multitasking, training someone while taking my order, which slowed things down a bit. I tried their 6-piece fried chicken which was about $20 (with fries and a tea), which felt pricey. But I have to admit, it was crispy and flavorful, with nice seasoning. Still, I couldn't shake the feeling that it was a bit too expensive for what it was. The place itself was cool, with plenty of seating and a bar. Their seasoned French fries were a highlight, they were super tasty. Overall, The Rolling Rooster has good food and a chill atmosphere, but the high prices might not be worth it for everyone.

Got the Chicken & Waffles tossed in Hot Honey and it was super good! Chicken fell right off the bone and flavor was perfect. The staff was also really friendly, attentive, and helpful.

I ordered takeout via Uber Eats. I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, so I was really excited to finally order from here. I also paid extra for delivery so that I'd be the first stop. I ordered the "3 fish two sides" with mac&cheese and collard greens, and the "zesty fries". The fries were all hard as rocks and tasted like old grease. They were so dried out, I honestly believe they'd been sitting out all day. I added a video where I'm tapping the fries on my plate and it makes a hard knocking sound. The catfish was well seasoned, although a bit too salty. I was most excited for the Mac and cheese, but sadly it was bland. Boxed Mac and cheese is better than this. The collard greens were extremely salty and inedible. I don't know if this was an off night, but this was some truly awful food and I don't understand why there are so many 5 star reviews.

The waitress was friendly and she brought us water fairly quickly. The garlic Parmesan fries are a must order and they were expertly fried and had a spectacular crunch and texture. The garlic was very balanced and not overwhelming, and they were super generous with the amount of Parmesan. The chicken wings were also equally amazing with a super crunchy, light batter, well seasoned chicken and the sauces were delectable. I really liked the honey garlic Parmesan because it is unique and not something I've had before. The sweet soy was also nicely balanced and paired well with the wings. The Ruma's chicken crispy pops was good, but I wish the pieces of chicken were slightly bigger so that the ratio of batter to chicken would be less overwhelming. The sauce was more sweet than spicy and it would have been better if they added a Mala spice component. My diagnosis: come here for exceptional Korean wings and craveable garlic fries

THIS SH** LITERALLLY WHIPPED UP SOUL!!!!…read more Hands down, this is the best Soul Food in Austin, TX. My girlfriend and I have been here 4 times in counting. Every time we come, we have been satisfied. This is a black-owned restaurant and babiiesss, this is one for the books. The best times to come are early before 5. SUNDAYS ARE SUPER BUSY, (line out the door busy), so beware of that. Let's start with the service, the owner is HIM. Every time we've come, he's greeting everyone that comes in with a calm, cool, welcoming, and assured demeanor about himself while taking orders. When he has the chance, he comes by the tables and checks in with everyone, making sure everyone is satisfied and the place is up to his standards. This man is the definition of #HANDSON! It's needed. He doesn't know it, but we really value him. The Ambiance is usually way more busier, energetic like. However, today we came closer to opening @ 11:15am and was able to enjoy sitting down without the rush. It's always great music playing, so you know I'm jamming :P The cooks keep hair nets on their heads and gloves on. It's somewhat an open window kitchen so that's cool too. There's usually a cleaning lady going around making sure the place stays clean and tables rotating. The prices aren't bad. They did just increase since the last we been here, but they're still affordable. Now for the food WITH SOULLLL... Since we've been here so many times, I'll give you the MUST TRYs! These are delicious, delightful and your tastebuds will love you for it. Plus the portions are generous and never lack in flavor. #ComfortingFood 1. Oxtail Eggrolls $14 2. Cheezy Mac (regular) $6 3. Sweet Glazed Yams (regular) $6 4. Mean Greens (regular) $6 5. Pistachio Brownie (when available) 6. Sweet Tea $3.75 7. Fried Cabbage (Weekend Side Special) My rating... this place is definitive of SOUL. It's consistent, clean, and carries the vibes! One thing about it, whether you're vegetarian or loving the meat, you'll find something to love that will lighten your soul. It's been hard to find QUALITY food here in Austin, but we found it in 'WHIP MY SOUL'. So GO, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! You won't be disappointed.

As I walked up to the easy to find and steps from the PURPLE PARKING GARAGE restaurant, I was already vibing off the patio. Totally giving vacay veranda. The hostess greeted me with a smile, and I dipped into the restrooms before I asked about our table. Of course, I went for a patio table and while I didn't enjoy the occasional fly zipping around, the shaded and breezy tables were perfection on a Sunday afternoon. Our server was Jamie and he was absolutely a DREAM. I was fully prepared for that awkward wait at a table alone when you're lunch date is running late and you have no idea exactly how late... From the moment I was seated alone, Jamie introduced himself, was warm, and fully engaged in manifesting a wonderful experience. He was mindful about sharing just enough with me about the scratch to table mission they have at Doc Bs while saving the good stuff for when both my friend and I were present. My friend ended up going with their special and it was TO DIE FOR!!! I want to say it was Chilean Ahi Tuna Salad? It was some sort of voodoo magic seared onto the Tuna, and they present it like dominoes across the bottom of a giant pile of delightful, chopped salad. I did the Buffalo Chicken Salad, and I ate every crunchy blue cheese tickled bite! Waiting on a friend too? My safe go-to order was the Guacamole! They bring it out with the Sweet Potato Chips - HOUSE MADE and Jamie gave me Tortilla chips too in case my friend preferred something different. They have fans on the patio, so it's not too hot. I'd complain they didn't have the wine I wanted, but when they didn't have my first request, not only did they bring me my 2nd request, but the gentleman from behind the bar walked over a taste of a comparable wine to the one I had originally chosen and I absolutely appreciate that extra effort to make sure I felt valued and seen. Way to go, Doc Bs! **Note: When a fly decided to take a dive and a swim relay in my glass of wine, they didn't bat a lash and replaced the glass for me and seamlessly disposed of Fly Guy in all his drunken Memorial Day glory! The guacamole with sweet potato chips is also superlative, and reasonably substantial in terms of portion size and satiation. For the best value, definitely hit up the lunch menu, where you can get a "wok out" bowl with tofu; a highly competent vegan option. The Onion Rings were thin-cut and lightly battered, but they still had a nice crunch to them, too. The wings were no frills or thrills, but they were classics, so it would be great if someone were craving wings like I was. My favorites were the Medium Buffalo flavor and Lemon Pepper. I liked the spicy and tangy flavors of the buffalo and the sharp tang from the lemon pepper, so those hit the spot. The garlic parmesan was more plain and less flavorful, so it was my least favorite.
