Attended a friends baby shower here today. I have passed the golf course many times before and didn't realize they have a restaurant/bar. The room space was a great size for the party. This place has great ambiance - it sits on a golf course and the sunset is amazing if you are seated in the patio. The food is pretty good - we had bang bang shrimp, Cobb salad, and Buffalo wrap. Shrimp were only lightly battered and perfectly golden crispy. Everything nicely prepared with fresh ingredients. Draft beer selection also pretty good. Our service was excellent! BEST FISH TACOS EVER. They were phenomenal and so was everything else from start to finish. They were busy so we had to wait to be seated. We had a reservation but were immediately given a round of drinks on the house for the delay (very classy if you ask me). I had the fireside bourbon drink. I really want to like The Roost more. It's so close and convenient for us but it never fails to let us down in some way. Usually, the wait staff is not great. Sometimes, we'll get a waitress that's attentive but it's a rarity even with the new ownership. The food is ok. We've had some decent luck with burgers but PLEASE skip the nachos. For a WHOPPING $12, you get a completely unspectacular plate of nachos with velveeta cheese, a few black olives slices, a few jalapeños, a few diced tomatoes AND some of the worst tasting nacho chips we've ever had. How hard is it to use real salsa or pico de gallo? Real cheese? Decent chips? Thankfully, we didn't pony up more money for the chili or chicken on them. (The $6 plate of nachos at Tara's Tavern in Wrightstown puts the $12 Roost nachos to shame.) $11 margaritas? That's a bit pricey too. Not many fun/different choices of draft beer. Run of the mill. When they have live music, it's usually too loud to have a conversation even when you're in the back of the room. I didn't deduct "points" for that because sometimes that's ok for us (just a helpful hint for anyone looking for a quiet spot to drink after 9pm on the weekend). The musical acts are always pretty good & definitely fun. Overall, if you're going out for a few drinks, the bar area is ok. It's certainly not a happening place as the night wears on. Average age at the bar was probably 55. The vibe is certainly subdued. It's such a close option for meals for us but it's just not on our "dinner radar" any more. The food is decent. Their buffalo wings are pretty good. Really more of a burger and sandwich type of place. The service isn't great. Sometimes we have to wait a while to get our drinks. Go before 6 if you are planning on having dinner. Their bands go on around 7:30 and it is SO loud! We've asked if they could turn the speakers down a bit or if it was possible to have the bands start at a later time but they just said no. What can be said about this place other than the food is amazingly fantastic. The portion sizes are quite a bargain and I recommend the roost fries to anyone. Went here last night with my husband and won't be going back. It honestly has potential. It's in a nice area, right next to a golf course. Nice open restaurant and bar, but boy it really lacks any character. The food was average. The service was good, but only a few tables in there, so maybe on a busy night it's not. But the worst part was that it was just depressing! They had, what sounded like, one speaker on the far corner of the room playing awful 70's music all night. It wasn't lively at all and I couldn't wait to get out! Oh and I agree with the person who wrote about the awful bathroom. It reminded me of my catholic grammer school bathroom! The toilets looked as if they've never been cleaned. The towel dispenser didn't work, and rather than fixing it or replacing it, they put one on the ground which I almost missed. The only nice part in there were these really pretty facets which didn't match anything else. Lol. Sorry The Roost, you have potential but maybe put some money into the place so it's not so depressing. I'm now scratching my head with the 4 stars as I use yelp to find new places to go to. I've decided that if it's a good rated restaurant it needs to have over 100 reviews. Maybe the service is better if you're a regular but we ended up waiting for our server for a good amount of time whereas other tables came in after us got seated and got their food before someone even took our drink order. I got the Cobb salad and it was delicious. It's empty here on a weekday night. That's how I like my bars; empty without a lot of drink people. The chicken on the Cobb salad was juicy and not dried out. The Gorgonzola cheese was mild and creamy which I like. It came with an egg. It was so filling. Well this place used to have fantastic food, however it went downhill. Finally, after a year or two the quality of the food has started to get better. Unfortunately waitress service is really poor. Live music has been pretty good recently. The only food we had recently was the tuna bites app, which was fine. The margarita pie was sloppy and under cooked. Suggestion: get a manager who is here and actually walks around to see what is going on. We have started returning to the Roost for dinners as it seems to be getting better and more consistent. But last Friday night we were informed that there is a 90 minute time for tables, which is fine but the waitress made a nuisance of herself and came to the table every five minutes to get our order. We recently had my son's graduation party/dinner here. We were a little late getting something booked because he was on the fence about what he wanted. However they did a stellar job accomodating us. I dealt with Vivian, mostly through email, to set up a party of 25. She was excellent. I cannot say enough about the two young ladies who were our servers. They were top-notch and would have fit in in a Michelin star rated restaurant. Food was excellent we were not rushed,we had the little room off the main dining room. We paired down the menu to give our guests a little easier of a time choosing. Absolutely no complaints they were a pleasure to deal with. I wish the food would've matched the service and the view. We were at Cream Ridge Winery for the afternoon and hubby wanted to eat before we headed back to Philadelphia. He found out this place was a 2 minute drive so we decided to go. Both waiters were very nice and welcoming. We opted to sit inside with views to the golf course and enjoying the beautiful sunset. Hubby was happy the football games were on the screens. Our waitress Melanie was amazing and very attentive. We decided to share a rack of ribs and a side of sweet potato fries. We've never eaten bad ribs until now. The barbecue sauce was minimal, no flavoring, no char and just not good at all . Actually I stopped eating b/c I began to get nauseous from the weird meaty smell, not a good smell, coming from the ribs. I never knew a place could make bad ribs. The sweet potato fries were very good, actually excellent. My seltzer water was very good and fizzy. The coffee was also horrible as hubby asked for some on our way out so he wouldn't fall asleep on the drive home keeping me company. He worked in a coffee shop for many years in his younger days so he knows coffee. The other weird thing was the restaurant was pretty empty at the tables when we arrived and the few people sitting at the bar were enjoying the football games. The bartender muted the screens at half time which is fine but when the game came back on it was still muted. My hubby asked if they could unmute the games and was told, no, since some new patrons sitting at the bar asked they be muted. Um you came to a restaurant that has signs all over that it wants you to come watch football and it bothers you that they're showing football. We thought that was strange and he didn't press the issue as by this point I was dying to leave. I guess they were VIP guests unlike us. I wish our dinner would've ended on a great note as our afternoon at the winery was superb. I recommend everyone to visit this place and sit at the bar! Mary and Lillian are the absolute best; they are super friendly, and always filling your glass or bringing you anything necessary! I've been to this place in the past with the old owners, and always had problems sitting at the tables. They have great burgers and special fries I always love biting into! They just started doing some weekday specials that I haven't tried, but I'm sure people love them. The little burgers and chicken sandwiches that are available during happy hour are so yummy!
