This post isn't to completely bash this place rather just to share my opinion. Staff is super attentive and our drinks were never empty. The food however was terrible. Four of us with a meal each, two cups of coffee, and two lemonades was $82, which is far too pricey for the quality of the food. I ordered the huevos rancheros and I have never eaten such bland food before. The beans were hard as though they hadn't been cooked all the way and I am not sure how, but even the single slice of bacon that came with it was bland. I ended up eating the eggs on top of the corn tortillas and left the rest of my food. One of my sons ordered the lunch burrito with chicken and without me prompting him, also said that it was bland and flavorless. My other son ordered the short stack and said that the pancakes were ok but poured the syrup on and it tasted like maple flavored water and made the pancakes soggy. My husband got the chicken fried steak and said it was ok once he put a ton of salt on it. Please see the photos. We ended up leaving most of our food untouched. We paid our bill in full and left tip, which was over $100 for bland food that we didn't hardly eat. The Rose is like stepping into gram's house: settling in and getting cozy, having Saturday morning breakfast with all your favorites and leaving with a full belly and a smile. The china wall with pops of color, the rose covered ceiling panels, white coffee cups in a row... you've stepped back in time. Home cooking, friendly faces and easy going vibes - this is the Rose. He had their Western Hash and I had their Green Chili Omelette. We split a blueberry pancake with sliced bananas. Warm syrup FTW. Everything was tasty and well seasoned - home cooking good. This place was full of what appeared to be locals and I can see why. The service was very friendly and quick. They were super sweet to my kids, as well as my family who didn't speak English, so thank you for that! I had the burrito smothered in green chile (you knew I would) and it was fantastic. My daughter had an omelet with the same chile and she loved it, and my husband had the biscuits and gravy which he also enjoyed. Our family from Japan liked their omelets. On our way to Durango, we stopped in Pagossa Springs for lunch. The town was overloaded with tourists, and all the restaurants had a wait. We selected the Rose, a quaint American cafe. The wait was about 15 minutes. The restaurant is small. The decor is definitely Western farm style, and the attention to detail was impressive. Our server was friendly and helpful. However, she was slammed. My wife ordered the steak sandwich, and when it came, there was no Mayo. It was a while before we saw the server again to ask for the mayo, and then she forgot. Our water glasses remained empty for a long time. I ordered the chicken strip dinner with fries and salad. The dinner came with four strips. They were good, the cream gravey was good. The fries were good. The salad was good. No complaints with the meal, but no wow factor with it. I rate the meal a 3/5. About the same with Jan's steak sandwich. It was OK, but nothing to get excited about. Another 3/5. The Rose offers friendly service, a nice environment, and good, but not great food. read more

Yummy! Came here for an early lunch - Easy walk from the Springs Resort, and easy to find parking if you're driving. Chicken salad sandwich, crispy chicken and bacon ranch wrap and house salads were very good. The tomato on the chicken salad sandwich was sooo thick and ripe - such a great sign of quality ingredients! Very cute inside; happy decor and so clean and bright! Tiny place and you need to wait but it's not too long. Very nice waitress. We were in the tiny table on the side by the kitchen. Lots of food and a small table but we got through it. My friend and I both othered blueberry pancakes and the breakfast BLT with avocado with hash browns and coffee. Pancakes were good and large. The breakfast BLT avocado was so tasty! The bread was toasted but soft and buttery. The eggs are scrambled with avocado, bacon, lettuce and tomato. So good. We both ate our pancake and half the sandwich. Saving the other half for later when we drove home. The hash browns were very undercooked for me and my friend. I don't like uncooked hash browns and prefer them crunchy on the outside. We didn't eat those. Coffee was just regular not so great coffee which made me sad. Overall it's a good place. Be ready to wait for a table. If you like breakfast you'll like this place. read more

The Rose is a popular breakfast spot in Pagosa Springs so I would expect to have a bit of a wait. The restaurant is not big but it's got a feeling of being at your grandmas house. The server was very friendly and attentive. They were busy but it looks like they're used to it and it doesn't phase the servers because they were all smiling. The food was very good! The plate was packed with food so you won't walk away hungry. I went with a hash brown type plate with their version of green Chile. Not the New Mexico green Chile by any means but still good. Next time I'm back in Pagosa Springs, we'll definitely hit this place for breakfast. read more

We're the obvious stinky Hot Springs tourists, so there's a chance we were treated as such. This cozy joint seems more of a local fav. We went on a snowy Sunday morning, there was no wait, and we were seated immediately. There are 4 uniform cups hanging on the wall by the table and seem like an obvious choice if you want a cup of coffee. These are decorations... Despite having 3 servers, service was lack luster and slow. We had to ask for water refills and for extra napkins. We weren't asked about our food or if we needed anything throughout the meal. The kids menu is a "coloring" menu, had to ask for crayons. We had 2 kids meals, add 3.50 each for milk. Our son gives 2 thumbs up on the French Toast and he ate his sisters pancakes. My wife had a waffle with fruit, she said it tastes grainy (maybe they're cornbread?) and pre-made. Add 3.50 for coffee each I had the Huevos Ranchero with green chili. I've had many a HR in my time and these are not traditional. There were Ranchero beans on the bottom, 2 store bought limp corn tortillas wrapped over hash browns like enchiladas. Cheese on the topof those with eggs sunny and green chili smothered. In the corner were diced tomatoes and purple onion with a flour tortilla folded over and placed on those. Don't forget a cold limp slice of bacon added on the top. The Huevos Rancheros were more a bad enchilada. Lacking flavor and originality. The green chili was canned chilis and we were told they have hamburger added in...? They were mild at best. I expected fresh roasted chilis given our proximity to NM. I added salt and it didn't help. These are not traditional HR and, other than perfect sunny eggs, was otherwise very overpriced and unremarkable. Hard pass! Side now: I wanted the corned beef hash but was told it's not fresh, comes from a can. Total for the meal with tip - 75 BUCKS! 14 of which was just milk and coffee. Overall, given the high ratings we hoped for greatness, and maybe that's on us. This place is average on food and service, below average on value. Save your money, there are a few other places in town to spend your breakfast money in. read more

The food is good but the staff not so friendly they are stretched so far they have no room for fast or friendly Service. This place seats and serves like they are herding cats.
