I needed a venue for a meeting in the area and chose The Rosemary. I stopped in the day before to finalize the details and could not have had a better or more professional experience. From the ownership level to the staff, everyone was patiently invested in making sure all the details were in order. On the day of the meeting, nothing had been missed from the room set-up and audio-visual equipment to the refreshments and seating arrangements. We also had lunch served on time and the food and service were fantastic! The great decor, design, and ambiance only added to the perfection. I am still hopeful this is going to be a great little spot for Elon. Started out strong but there have been some hiccups along the way. Fortunately they always strive to make it right. Attended a wine dinner in March. The second one I've attended at the Rosemary. Food courses were excellent and paired nicely with the wines. Beautifully designed place in downtown Elon. I ordered a cup of soup which didn't come out until after our meals and the cup was less than half full. The soup, tomato bisque was flavorless. I sent it back. When our food came out, most of the tables food was room temperature, the sides they ordered were wrong or not there. I ordered the Halibut, it was over cooked and dry. The presentation on the food was non existent. It's almost like they plopped the food down on the plate. The green beans were either from a can or weeks old, as they were more brown then green. The food wasn't the servers fault, however, there is an opportunity for her to improve. The manager also came over and creepily put his hands on my girlfriend and friends wife's shoulders. As we were about to leave the music started and the singer serenading a birthday guest made the scene awkward. We wont be going back. read more

Visited this new place for a sorority dinner. We had an area to the right side. The food was ok...it was preselected meal. The server was nice however, he never brought my shots when asked twice about it. We brought our own desserts. The restaurant wasn't packed with other patrons. Parking lot = very small. We had to park across the street at the laundry business and another business which was closed. read more

We stayed at this hotel with our pup, so couldn't eat in the restaurant, but the staff was so awesome to let us order to go and provided excellent help in deciding what would be tastiest and travel best back to our room. We stopped in for Sunday Brunch! Very nice restaurant. We were greeted and sat fairly quickly. The service seemed a bit chaotic and confused. After a wait, our server took our drinks order. My husband ordered coffee and had to wait for the creamer and sugar after the coffee was poured. He raved about the coffee after getting what he needed. The food was good quality food! The bar is very nice and well stocked. The owner/manager stopped by our table and chatted for a few moments. He was also pitching in with filling water glasses and removing dishes from tables. We had a large table of about 12 people celebrating our Elon grad students and we could not have picked a better spot for dinner. This place has only been open for a few weeks and it is so freaking nice. If I lived in NC, this would be my regular spot. On this special evening the restaurant offered a 3-course menu which had tons of delicious flavorings. I went with the caesar salad, Seafood Linguine entree, and the tiramisu. I also enjoyed several glasses of wine during the meal as well. Each dish was absolutely booming with flavor and the seafood pasta was unbelievably packed with scallops, more crab that I could believe, and lots of shrimp. It was worth every penny. Our group ate, drank, and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The owner was spectacular and came around the check on things several times as well. He and his wife were an absolute delight! We made reservations for Mother's Day dinner and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience from start to finish. When we arrived, there was only one other table seated and a few people at the bar, yet no one was at the hostess stand. Once someone finally came over, they still didn't have menus prepared for us. Service throughout the evening was extremely lacking. We only saw a server three times total: to take our order, deliver the food and drinks, and bring the check. Our original server behaved very strangely and actually walked out shortly after taking our order. After that, we didn't see another staff member until the food arrived. Our drinks sat empty for most of the meal, and no one checked on us to see how everything was. The food itself was equally disappointing. We both ordered ribeyes medium rare, but they came out medium well/well done and looked like low-quality grocery store steaks. The mashed potatoes were dry and unappetizing. Since no one ever came back to the table until it was time to pay, we never even had the opportunity to mention the issues. For a restaurant that markets itself as fine dining, this experience completely missed the mark. Between the poor service, lackluster food, and overall disorganization, it was a very frustrating and disappointing Mother's Day dinner. read more

I feel bad writing this review because the manager was nice enough and waived our bill so what we did get was free. Never got any water from our server. Took 35 minutes to get our drinks. 1 hour 45 minutes into our dinner still hadn't gotten our apps and hadn't seen our server for the last hour. The manager couldn't find her either. We had a show to go to so asked for anything. When it did come I couldn't cut through my pork chop and my kids pasta was cold. Atmosphere looked nice but it was a debacle. I can't say enough wonderful things about Rosemary at Elon. I have watched it come to fruition from it's inception. I have seen it staffed and restaffed. I have seen ownership changes. The one constant has been owner and visionary, Derek Bates. Derek's vision and execution lends to the beauty, colors and decor you see when you walk into the restaurant and lots you don't see. Now, with any changes in staff and ownership there is an expectation of something that suffers. I have not seen that at Rosemary of Elon. It has come together aging like a fine wine regardless of any changes. I saw my first major service in play yesterday- Elon University Graduation Day 2025. The restaurant was packed all day. There was seasoned staff, new staff, family, friends all working together with precision..not missing a beat. The food as always was delicious, cooked to perfection. Chef Brian Jones has heart and pays attention to detail in his menus. His special menus will have you salivating for more. The amazing bartender Stacey serves up drinks with a smile and remembers guest as if you are family. It is a very warm and inviting place to go. New co-owner Chase has a no nonsensical attitude about all things Rosemary at Elon. He wants everyone's experience at to be nothing less than pleasurable and your first of many. We had a 715 reservation for which we were seated at 7:45 we had to ask for bread which we received at approximately 8:15 to 830. In the meantime, we placed our orders and received our salads at 9 PM. Two appetizers arrived shortly thereafter were inedible.. Ultimately left restaurant at 9:45 without having been served dinner. We were told that they were out of essentially everything on the menu and it was unclear what exactly they were going to be able to serve us at all. This was possibly one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had, and I do eat out frequently. Very big disappointment considering the menu looked so appetizing. read more

I took my now girlfriend there right when it opened as one of the first people to dine and it was very good so we went back during Valentine's Day. I had a reservation and they stuck us in a corner with an uneven floor which made the chair rock. It took them an HOUR to give us our food after ordering and my steak was completely raw. My partner and I visited this morning with my grandparents and they were excited to take us to a new restaurant they had heard of. The only good thing about our $120 brunch was the coffee. For starters, the menu was incorrect. Of the seven items listed for brunch we were told that two were unavailable at the time we were ready to order and not before. We ordered our breakfast and 40 minutes later the meal came out. I ordered the loks bagel and instead of smoked loks they gave me half a piece of overcooked salmon with the bagel fixing on top that looked as if it had been sitting there for quite some time (hot pink, has a very distinct look). I'm guessing it was premade or leftover from dinner. I was only informed as the meal was placed in front of me that I could order something different since they were out of loks but I elected not to as it had already taken 40 minutes for the original meal to come out. One other meal was missing an item that then came out half prepared, and the other two meals were overcooked and cold, as if they had been sitting for a while. While our waiter was nice, he was aloof and at one point we had to go to the bar to receive drink refills even though there were only 4 tables present in the facility with two waiters. The waiter had said that items would be compensated from our ticket, but when the final ticket came out, nothing had been changed. We paid it and left. Would not return. read more

Horrible owner. Shows up to work inebriated, is abusive to customers and employees, and the food is not worth the price. Derek should not be in the restaurant business, and I'm betting by the number of complaints, he won't be for long. See my review on Google for details on him using profane language and screaming at a customer. He's lost the best bartender in the area because of his ridiculous lack of management skills. This place has potential but the food took forever to come out. The party all ordered at the same time, but only half came out together, so we had to wait about 10 minutes longer for the other two plates. Food was overcooked, bland (everyone was adding salt to their food for some flavor). My steak was overdone, but honestly I didn't have enough time to wait another 40 minutes for them to fix it (ordered steak medium rare, came out well done and dry). Be mindful that they recently changed the menu, so the menu I originally looked at online was incorrect. Service was just ok, but not super attentive and the girl that was the host did not seem to have any idea what she was doing. For the price you pay for dinner I expected much better service. There was also a 20% gratuity automatically added to our bill (I guess because of the party size). It would have been nice if the waitress would have mentioned that. A couple people in our party didn't realize and ended up double tipping. Has great potential but we obviously must have hit it on a bad night. read more

Went in for dinner reservation at 7:45pm, placed order, no word on food for 45 minutes and told chef forgot one of dishes will be about 15 more minutes, but can bring out what is done. Our first trip no problem asked to bring food out. Food came out cold after 45 minutes I assume from sitting in expo window. Asked them to just cancel dish they forgot and bring check can't eat the cold food. Removed one of the dishes that was partially eaten, charged for the remaining. Gentleman in suit approached women in the party as he detected an issue, but our student didn't want any conflict. Paid the bill and left. Called back to discuss with gentleman in suit (owner?) But refused to speak with me. Upscale restaurant with upscale pricing, not an issue if deliver what the menu says, but not stepping up when you know party is calling to.try and speak with you regarding the bad experience instead of making a scene in your restaurant is bad business.
