My husband and I came to The Row for dinner and were hoping to catch some live music. Overall, the food was the type of pub food you might expect - greasy and salty but with generous portions. We got the Cornmeal Catfish, which came with Chow chow, fried okra, remoulade, habanero corn cake. We also got the Row Burger which was a burger with peppadew pimento, Row sauce, fried green tomato, and chow chow. My favorite was the fried okra and the cornmeal catfish itself. The burger was a bit unremarkable. In terms of the live music - we were unfortunately seated in the dining area and I learnt after reading the reviews too late that the live music is only in the bar area. They placed us outside in the sun right next to a "big ass fan" ( thats what it's called). It was absolutely miserable. There were plenty of seats inside so I'm not sure why we were placed out there. Although it didn't seem to matter because it was hot inside as well. The food was ok. My husband got the nachos and the pico de gallo was basically all onions. My brisket was just ok. Passing through Nashville only for one night and my husband found this spot through an online search. We were disappointed to find out their outdoor seating was covered. There was a reasonable wait time during our arrival but once we were seated I went to the bathroom prior to ordering. Unfortunately there was no soap and I notified my server upon sitting down when they took our drink order (and then went to my car for hand sanitizer). Kids meals don't include drinks so it was annoying to find out two lemonades were $7, the equivalent of buying a third kids meal. Food was yummy, but I only ate half my burger, which is unusual. At the end of the meal I went to wash my hands, because BBQ sauce and such, and there was still no soap. Yuck! Reaaaaallly grossed out at how many people, including staff, used that bathroom and didn't clean their hands. The lack of soap for that length of time is what makes this review 2 stars. Businesses get busy and don't stock the bathroom or know when things run out, I get that, but it should be prioritized when brought to their attention. read more

Came here for brunch with friends. We were a party of 7 and were seated at a large table with plenty of room for everyone. Nice country music theming and decor like a lot of the places in Nashville. This place is away from the broadway strip though and definitely not as touristy as some of the places over there. The menu is large and definitely southern style cooking. We got the beignets and bacon queso for appetizers and both were great. To drink, I had the Grand Mimosa which was drinkable but I wasn't really a fan. For my entree, I had the French toast which was amazing! It honestly was like eating a dessert. It was huge and I ate the whole thing because it was so good. I also got a side of bacon and it was cooked perfect. My husband got the BBQ hash skillet which he also enjoyed. Service was good. Our flight got in later, so we caught the tail tail end of dinner. Josie was busy and it took her some time to get to us. Not her fault. We could see her running around. Restaurant was right across the street from where we were staying, so it was convenient after our long day. Get there early. I'm sure the food is probably better at the height of service. We had the choice of sitting on the music side or in the dinning room. I wanted a nice quiet dining room as we were going to hit Broadway after dinner. The best part of the meal were the appetizers! Went on a Saturday afternoon and it was sleepy and overrun with children. I honestly felt like I was in Applebee's or Chili's, not a prime location on Music Row. We wanted to order drinks and sit at the bar, but they sat us at a table and the wait staff didn't seem very happy with us not ordering food, which is why we wanted the bar. We ordered drinks & then got charged the wrong amount (charged for a cocktail instead of a beer) but just wanted to leave so we paid it and moved on. Live music is nice, but it just felt so out of place. Such a big, spot with perfect location to be something incredible. Not sure what needs to happen to make it more attractive. The Row is a placed just steeped in history, from tales of bartabs paid by selling song rights (Friends in Low Places) to performers who've started here (Brooks and Dunn). The stage/bar area is great for catching singer songwriters doing both originals and innovative covers. Early in the week, aspiring songwriters from Belmont University pair up on stage to sing originals and it's usually amazing. The staff is the nicest, funniest, fastest bunch around from the door to the bussers. The bartenders are superb and personable. Day or night, just a blast whether it's Shelby Rae or Landon or Jake or whoever. A great staff. It's that rare place that's got a tourist vibe with the genuine feel of a locals hangout (unlike everywhere on that phony stretch of "Nashville" also known as lower Broadway save for Robert's Western World). I recently had the joy of working nearly a year nearby and was in a couple times a week, and I'd guess was in more than 100 times. So I'm raving about the place ... why four stars? I actually debated making it three stars. (Spoiler alert: I am a former chef. I've got some opinions about food.) The food is mind-bogglingly hit or miss. Let's start with the sides: Cheddar grits were the blandest, least cheesy grits I've ever eaten. Like-no salt (that's gonna be a theme). The snap peas: oily and no salt. The braised greens are likewise oily but at least tasty. The hash brown casserole is GREAT, onion forward and cheesy and delicious. But for $4,99 you get a Baskin Robbins small scoop of it. I mean it's POTATO fer chrissakes. Some of the entrees are just a mess. The ribeye (and yeah--it's not a steak joint but c'mon. Again NO salt or pepper and I actually didn't know ribeyes came 1/2" thin. The salmon is also a miss. The bland snap peas served with salmon drenched in maple bourbon sauce that needed (you guessed it!) salt at the least maybe some acid like a squeeze of lemon. When the best thing on the salmon plate is the mashed sweet potatoes (which are solid), well ... The BBQ is pretty good, probably enjoyed the chicken the most. Love brisket but one time it's what I expect: fatty and juicy and smoky/salty; and the next it's a chunk of overcooked pot roast. And then their "sauces" (not theirs but what they serve. Can't even remember the name because I'd never seek them out) are a whiff. The regular is sickening sweet, the hot is closer to an Asian sweet chili sauce, and the white BBQ is damn near ranch (comes with the fried green tomatoes and until my server asked how I liked the white BBQ i was certain it WAS ranch). (Oh--the fried green tomatoes are great, but like the hash brown casserole way overpriced. $12.00 and you get a very cute "upright taco"-style presentation with maybe half of one medium tomato. I've had fried green tomatoes for $8 that would feed two recently, a big messy plate of 'em.) Not a fan of the whole smash burger craze because in my world, there's three ways to order a burger (also applies to steak): rare, medium-rare, and DON'T ORDER A BURGER and it's near impossible to get the temp I like on a smash burger, but they're tasty enough. In a sentence: come for the amazing music and staff ... but eat first. read more

They were to die for! I want to go back and get a whole plate of those. I don't know what they put in the sweet potato mash but I thought it was not edible. It was very acidic. We enjoyed having a late lunch here on a Sunday first time visit to Nashville. It was three adults, a toddler and an infant. Thankfully it wasn't very busy and the accommodated us at a large booth. Gabe was our server and he was great. Patient and pretty attentive. I had the pork tacos. They were OK. The side of bacon Mac and cheese was the highlight for me. I enjoyed my Midtown Mule. My sister and her husband both ordered the Nashville Chicken, one hot and one had the have mercy. The have mercy was intense but my BIL managed to clean his plate as did my sister who had the hot and said she'd wished it had "More heat" to it. There was great decor. It had a down home vibe. This has been a favorite spot of mine in Nashville for many years and I went in while in town. Everything is smoked on site and super fresh. We had the beignets, country boy Bennie, and the brisket tacos. Only downside of the experience was paying $20 for a very basic Bloody Mary, which I thought was outrageous... esp considering my boyfriend got a screwdriver that was I believe $11 (both vodka drinks with a mix in). I could understand paying that if it came with a Bloody Mary topper with bacon, olives, cheese, etc. but it was just tomato juice, vodka, and jalapeños because I asked for it to be spicy. read more

We couldn't get waited on the first night because the waitress was too busy flirting with one of the tables we left after being ignored for almost 15min. We came back the next day to give it a second chance and the food was less than good. It's just mediocre at best.
