I shouldn't give 4th Street Grille a 1 star review because we never got to try the food, so my 1 star is because of the of the following: It was a very quiet Saturday at lunch time. There was 3 other tables - it was not busy. Took a minute for menus, ok, waiter was maybe busy? but not with other tables, she was not to be seen. I just really wanted a good burger... it was my 'birthday' lunch with family. We were finally able to ask about the special that FLASHES when you go online. $5 BURGERS, Friday and SATURDAY. Was informed that's only on Friday, she was told last night. Opened APP on phone while sitting right in the restaurant, there it was, $5 burgers, Friday and Saturday. She was going to check. She didn't come back, so we left. I was so curious about their extensive menu, and really wanted a burger that I've read about being fabulous in other reviews. I doubt we'll be back, VIP or not. Me and The Hubs were taking 'the scenic route' back to the Denver area from Santa Fe and stopped here for lunch. The restaurant looks like a diner from the outside, but is fairly non-descript on the onside - ie. not very diner-like in appearance. However, I had a VERY tasty burger (ordered 'The Burger') with the standard set-up (lettuce, onion, pickles, tomato) and a side of (get this) sauteed broccolini! I like veggies and was absolutely thrilled to find more side offerings than the usual fried stuff. My burger and side veg were really good! The Hubs ordered one of the mac-n-cheese dishes and didn't seem thrilled with it, but said it was OK. They seemed a bit understaffed, but kept checking in with us to say that they'd be with us shortly. And they were. It wasn't a long wait. Maybe I should note that we were here mid-week around 1 PM or so. They didn't seem too busy, but this looks like it might be a small operation. Service was friendly and the restaurant was clean (including the restroom). I'd stop here again if I'm ever in the area. read more

We went here on Aug 18th and it was one of the best burgers we have had. I got the plain burger with no cheese. Hand patties. Husband got the pretzel burger that comes with side of queso. Love love the queso. I ate some with his fries... awesome. I had a side of slaw. It was great made with Brussels sprouts. I'm not a Brussels sprout fan but was good in there slaw. I'd order it again. It took everything to get my husband to leave on time on Tuesday cause he wanted to stay until they opened. I want to add since there were remarks about service that we had a great experience. Small little place off the main strip. Party of 4. Ok food ( we had the fried fish/shrimp and one has a chicken sandwich ). The coleslaw was more of a Kaleslaw. I liked it, my guests, not so much. Been going in here for a longtime and love the burge. They forgot my LTO on my burger and forgot my fries then came back with way too much salt on my fries. The waiter acted as if it was an inconvenience to get other fries and made my experience stressful not enjoyable. Then I ordered a desert to go after I paid and still they had an attitude. I over heard the female cook use the term f***ing A hole several times within ears distance...she was calling me profane names. Probably won't be eating here again. A week ago the spouse and I dropped in for the first time with lunch in mind. We do business with local folks and as a general rule avoid franchise fast food restaurants. So to the 4th Street Grill we went at about a quarter after 12, the height of lunch hour we reasoned. Parking was plentiful and convenient. Once inside it became evident that it was neither self-service nor full service but a hybrid of one sort or another. I announced right away it was a first time visit in a cheerful (and hopeful) way to the young lady manning the counter. That news did not evoke a friendly response, nor quicken her pulse. We were given a menu along with the instructions to choose a table and return to order when ready. That's what we did. We chose a table and began to look over the menu and our surroundings. The decor and furnishings are pleasant and has an up to date vibe. Well except for a broom and dustpan prominently affixed to the wall near the service counter. It was such an eyesore and unfortunate placement that once seen my eye was repeatedly drawn to it as though it were a piece of modern art planned and placed to evoke a guttural response from the viewer. It did. But back to my story. Upon arrival there were two occupied tables, the patrons already dining. There were two visible employees at the counter, clearly enjoying one another's company as they chatted away continuously. Two or three customers appeared to pick up to-go orders. We traipsed to the counter to order and pay. Our choice were burgers. We passed on the offer to "upgrade" to grass fed for $1.50 up charge for each. Burgers here are not cheap to begin with and the expectation was high, both were ordered med/med rare. One choose French Fries, I chose Beer Battered Onion Rings..and the associated up charge, one dollar if memory serves. The Rings ought to be fantastic as I noted the a la carte price was $5.00. Add two soft drinks and the order was complete, the bill very nearly $40 for the two of us. A counter person brought the beverages and later the food was delivered as well. It's worth noting we weren't checked on or even glanced at for the remainder of our visit. The two counter employees continued their mutual admiration convo. Two others were noted..perhaps a cook and a dishwasher or porter. I really couldn't say. Burgers both arrived well-done and actually some dried out from overcooking. Fries...dear reader, I'm disappointed to report fresh from the freezer to the grease and then the plate. Yes, frozen! The highly anticipated Beer Battered Onion Rings...you've already guessed frozen, I couldn't believe my eyes or tastebuds. Still no interaction with any employee, drink refills not offered and especially no question came about the enjoyment of the meal. Leaving a "bye" was heard from the counter. A Two Star Review due to premium pricing and let's be honest laziness and a lack of ambition in the execution of the business plan. All in all there are much better choices in town from operators who take pride in their business. Sadly we won't be back. read more

We have not lived in the Valley but of few months. Finally made it to the 4th Street Grille. What a huge let down compared to the reviews on Yelp! It's a strange concept of going in being handed a menu, go sit, and then go back to order. Especially when it's a small restaurant and there are staff just standing. The food is extremely high for frozen food. For just 2 people being $40 is to me not worth the price. Everything has increased in price, but for a premium price for burgers and fries and not getting fresh and no service is an insult! The restaurant was almost empty when we went in at lunch. That should have told me something! Just seeing staff standing and not checking in on the few customers is poor customer service and poor management allowing this show for the restaurants image. Additional information: Jason being manager sends response. Instead of working with customers just slams them for leaving 1 star reviews. To me this shows that they do not care how their restaurant and their customers that come. Thank goodness there are some really good restaurants that I like going back to! Our favorite restaurant in Alamosa. My husband and I have never had a bad meal here. The burgers are the best around.

They have a nice selection of steaks. I had the 12 oz. ribeye and my wife had the 8 oz. fillet. Both were delicious, although a touch under-done. The beer selection was all local (or close to it). We saw two people order the 32 oz. ribeye, one each. They did end up taking some home in doggie bags. The service was helpful and kind. My Sid of mashed potatoes did not come loaded as I had requested and another replacement serving was delivered right away. The atmosphere was that of a hometown business, working hard to deliver good food. read more
