The burnt ends met expectations - definitely worth it if you enjoy them. Overall, this is a solid location. Location is semi-clean; sort of expected at a BBQ joint. Grabbing the sauces is fun because it's like you're milking the sauces. Service is nice and prompt. I'd get the burnt ends here repeatedly but nothing else. The pulled port and brisket were mediocre. The brioche buns helped on the pulled pork sandwich, but it needed a lot of sauce. The fries were also mediocre. The loaded mac bowl was nuts. It was rich in flavor, but it was so packed and covered in cheese that it tasted like food coma in a bowl. I think it was good, but nothing I'd ever eat again. read more

Great lunch stop after visiting the Great Sand Dunes national park! Staff were super friendly and restaurant was spotless. We had the Cuban pulled pork- juicy and made well; the Carolina pulled pork - great coleslaw! (Vinegar based); and the smoked turkey which was also very tasty. We're in Alamosa for the weekend and turned to Yelp for help in finding a place for dinner. The reviews here were glowing so we gave it a shot. I love good BBQ and smoke my own meat on occasion, so I was hoping to be bowled over. What a disappointment! They were out of the well-reviewed burnt tips, so I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and my wife ordered the stuffed baked potato. The pork, on it's own, was tender but had absolutely no flavor! I kept wondering why and then it occurred to me: they don't use any wood! There was no smoky flavor whatsoever: no hickory, no applewood, no cherry wood or no mesquite. They simple slow roasted the meat. The only flavor came from the four BBQ sauces provided: a Carolina, Original, Hot Mamma and sweet Mama. They provided pickles and pickled onions which was a nice touch. That's not BBQ. My wife's potato was SWIMMING in a liquid. After some investigation, we realized that it was butter. It had the same bland pulled pork and a dollop of sour cream. She ate about a quarter of it and pushed it away. The coleslaw was limp with little crunch, had onions in it, but no mayo. The place was clean, the staff friendly. I appreciate the "Free Fry Fridays" which gave us free french fries that pretty good. Would I come back? Sadly, nope. I want a BBQ joint where you can see/smell the smoke coming out of the place and taste the smoke in the meat. That's what BBQ is all about. read more

The food was good and exactly what we were expecting looking for BBQ. The menu had a variety of options if you want to share a plate as well as individual sandwiches. Nice variety of sauces, there was a sauce that fit everyone liking. Price point was normal for a traditional barbecue joint. The staff was friendly and the food came out quick and hot. I do wish it had more of a restaurant feel to it compared to a fast food joint. Like most traditional bbq spots you order at the counter compared to at the table. At lunch time I wouldn't have even thought about it but going there for dinner didn't feel like going out to an actual restaurant. On my current trip across the US I passed on bbq going through Kansas City in lieu of Chinese. I am so glad I made this decision since it freed me up to try bbq elsewhere. I can't tell you how fortunate I was to find Woody's giving me another reason to visit beautiful Alamosa! When I saw the menu I was well pleased to see my favorite offering of burnt ends. Sadly I saw them on the 86 board but the guy behind the counter (Josh I think his name was) was able to find some for me! That kind of service would make any customer happy. The sauces, four of them in total were impressive. My favorite was the smokey, sweet and hot KC style with celery seed like a cross between KC Joe and Gates. I drank it straight from the little cup. If you find yourself passing through Alamosa you can't go wrong stopping here for some great q. They even had beer which sadly I passed on since I had to drive. It was alright. The Mac and cheese, beans and fries were good. The staff was friendly. I think it was excessive to have an up charge on ribs and brisket. The brisket lacked flavor and was dry and I'm not a harsh critic to bbq. The ribs were chewy and dry as well. All in all it was alright and overpriced. read more

I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, burnt ends and Mac sandwich and the onion rings. My favorite was the burnt end and Mac sandwich. The flavor and tenderness of the meat was perfect. The flavor, in my opinion didn't need any sauces added but I tried the sauce just to see the difference. It just enhanced the flavor even more! The crisp outer onion ring was just the right crispy texture and soft onion in the middle. This place is definitely a MUST! 09/28/2021 Tuesday 2:15pm. Passing through on the way back home to Texas. So we know our Cue. We eat quite a bit of it and are KCBS judges for fun. We ordered a 2 meat plate. The brisket comes lean or moist as burnt ends for $2.00 more. Lean is like roast beef so we always get moist. In this case we had to have the burnt ends. They were better than average. The ribs were solid! Good flavor and smoke as good as some competition ribs we have had! Our only critique with the ribs, they were a tad dry. Neither meats were hot at all! Our sides were uninspired mac&cheese and onions rings. What no green veggies at all?! Not even the obligatory canned green beans?! We are satisfied. We have paid more for cue that wasn't even half this good. We would recommend it and would have given it higher rating had the food been warm! read more

All I can say is wow for Woody's, W Q S has, I have to say, the best ribs that I have eaten in Colorado, and the brisket sandwich M D W ordered was also pretty good, although she said it was not as moist as she would have liked. Woody's offers inside, and outdoor dining (we ate outside), and the experience was seamless, from ordering at the counter, to our food being brought out to us. The only thing that I really did not like was the way the barbecue sauce is served, it is served at a table with inverted containers with squeeze bottles connected to them and everyone squeezes the bottles into little containers provided when ordering at the counter... A lot of hands are pawing those BBQ bottles, it's like milking a BBQ sauce cow. A different way to get your sauce on would be fire. read more

I enjoyed the tasty burger with 60% beef and Bacon mixed in; but the fixings were very slim...small slice of tomato, lettuce and onion...that's it. they have mustard, catsup and ranch if you like to add to bun. Since I'm someone that doesn't like the heavy BBQ sauce on most BBQ, they allow you to self serve your own flavor and amount of BBQ sauce. The Pitmaster rolls were unique and and excellent mix. The staff was pleasant and quick. We didn't lose much time to get back on the road. The dining room takes you to a backyard BBQ, a welcomed change from sitting in the car for hours. There isn't many options in Alamosa but if your in the mood for bbq this is definitely the top spot! We ordered the 3 meats and 2 sides plate and it was definitely the right amount of food for two people. My favorite meat was surprisingly the jalapeño cheddar sausage. It was really delicious with jalapeños and cheese just bursting out! The burnt ends we're also really tasty and cooked perfectly. The biggest disappointment of the meal was the brisket, while it was still good it's normally the star of the show and mine was more of just a supporting actor. The sides were both done well with the cowboy beans being my favorite, super good with pieces of bacon and other goodies added. 5 stars all the way! We ordered "Papa Jeff's Platter" for a chance to try a bunch of their meats and sides. The ribs were fantastic! All the other meats - brisket, pulled pork, turkey, sausage - were really good. The wings surprised us with how good they were. I really enjoyed the Baked Potato Salad (as opposed to their Potato Salad) and Campfire Beans, both of which are somewhat unusual sides, and both very good. My family usually prefers KC-style BBQ sauce, but not here; the "Hot" (which was not) and Original were well liked, but the Sweet was not (we thought it too sweet). The Platter is said to feed 6-8 people and it definitely would; the four of us were stuffed and we still took home leftovers. We would go out of our way to stop here again. read more

Delicious BBQ joint serving up an assortment of meats and sides at an affordable price. The restaurant has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The employees were all very friendly as well. We went with the 3 meat 2 sides meal and it was the perfect amount of food to split between two people. I'll start with the meat: Brisket, Burnt Ends, Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage. The Brisket was juicy and had a good smokey/flavor to it. The Burnt Ends were also super flavorful and each bite was tasty. The winner between all the meats was definitely the Jalepeño Cheddar Sausage... I know you're already questioning my opinion- a sausage at a BBQ spot?! But trust me- order this! Sometimes when I order these kinds of sausages, there's never really any cheese or jalapeños in it but this one did and it hit the spot especially after a 9 mile hike with 3200 ft of elevation gain. This thing was juicy as all get out!! It was cooked to perfection and you could see the cheese oozing out of the sausage. I loved every bite of it! Now onto the sides: Mac & Cheese and Campfire Beans. Can it get anymore American than that?! The Mac & Cheese was so creamy and cheesy. Food was great but Hubby and I only had a pulled pork sandwich. I had the Carolina sandwich and it was perfect! Bun fresh, slaw just the right amount, and pork quite tasty!
