BEst Burger ever. Atmossphere is great, love the music...my happy place

Originally visited on 8.16.16 for my boyfriend and I's 5 months, haha. we ordered the Wild Boar Meatballs which came with about 6 sitting on top of black beans kinda of similar to Glorias bean dip. $9.95. They were delish. We also ordered the Texas Goat Cheese, has garlic and olive oil in the cheese with crispy bread. SO yummy. For Drinks we ordered Moonshine- Peach, Neat. Very strong. Moscow Mule, regular - great. Entrees: The Brisket Quesadilla with Avocado Salad (there was cucumber in it) it was amazing. The Daily Catch with white hominy also pretty great. read more

Came here for brunch with another couple. We started with the grapefruit mimosas which were excellent. It came with a side of marmalade, which we weren't quite sure what to do with. It was a very generous carafe for 10 dollars. The family style brunch was delicious. I am a fan of fried chicken and this didn't disappoint. The french toast was good also-not overly soaked. Perhaps the only miss was the cheese plate- only 2 cheeses and a couple of crackers. The reason I am docking one star is portion size. While it was perfect for me, the 2 men at the table could have used a bit more food. I am used to family style portions being more generous. There was only one piece of each item for each person- think tasting portion size. Despite this, I still think it was 16 dollars well spent. Great atmosphere, great outdoor patio the food is really good. We had the brisket quesadillas and they were some of the best quesadillas I have ever had. Another guest had the pork chop with mashed potatoes which were good. They have a great drinks menu the place will be packed on the weekends but it's worth the wait. read more

Cool character. They have a huge outdoor, backyard seating area that is packed with lights, people, and all things Southern. It's a saloon theme in a yuppy part of town, and the result is everything from camo shirts and baseballs caps to dress shirts and sport coats. If you're looking for a place that is true to the Dallas, Texas feel and culture, I cannot think of a more representative place. I got the Rustic burger, because when in doubt, always order what the place was named after. It wasn't amazing, but I still left feeling like I had a great dining experience in a cool place with lots of Dallas character. read more

I really liked the outside patio setting. I just wish it was more organized like having a hostess seat you and letting the waiter/waitress know we are here. My friend and I waited 30 minutes out in the patio, with no greeting or not asking if we needed anything. the waitresses walked back and forth and saw us too didn't even bother to greet us. Not until we got up to go see the manager then they came to us. We got 4 drinks and total came out to be $75. Besides the setting and environment. The service sucks and drinks are overpriced. read more

We used The Rustic as our venue for Coalition for a New Dallas (go check it out!) and I have to say I was not disappointed. We had our ever outside with the use of the stage. We had a couple employees helping us out and then several servers came out and helped us move things around and get set up as well, which was awesome. Everyone was very polite, kept checking in on us to see if we wanted a drink or anything. As for the food, I didn't get to try any but it sure looked fantastic. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the apps we had going around as well as their drinks. There were two other events going on while we were there, but the staff kept their cool and was able to (at least for us) assist everyone with little trouble. If you have an event with a smaller guest list, I would definitely suggest using the rustic! read more

I've never been to a country bar before but this place was so pleasant. The environment and atmosphere in this place is very country and filled with energy. This place is so alive it made me want to dance even without knowing how to dance to country music. We were here for the bar atmosphere so we didn't try the food. They do however have a nice selection of bottled as well as draft beer. Served in mason jars accompanied by wood patio benches created a very unique experience. They also have a grass area where you can sit and lay if you're looking to relax a bit more. The stage area has a beautiful sign that reads "The Rustic" which is very similar to the "off the beaten path" sign on the opposite side. The energy in this place is unmatched and if you like country music and the country experience this is a great place to visit. read more

I have been a fan of The Rustic for the atmosphere for a while and finally made it in for the food and I'm still sold. We ordered the Cactus Fritters and Dips for appetizers and the buffalo ketchup with the fritters was so good! The corn queso wasn't my fave..but I did enjoy the onion dip. With 6 of us there..for meals there were 2 Rustic Burgers, 2 Chicken Sandwiches, Skirt Steak (fajitas), and Beer Can Chicken. Everything looked and tasted awesome! I'll def order the skirt steak on my next visit as I nibbled on my sisters plate. A few of the girls were first timers so Cole our server was fantastic and brought out a dessert..the Peanut Butter Pie. OMG! Enough said. We'll def be back!! read more

Country music and booze? Count me in. I've been wanting to go to Rustic for over a year. . Finally had a chance and boy was I excited. Sadly, it didn't fully live up to my own hype. It wasn't horrible, but I didn't fall in love as expected. The decor was ideal. Loved the sign and the strings of lights above the huge, outside patio area. Our server, Josh, was awesome. The strawberry margarita with a Popsicle in it was strong and pretty good. Great way to cool off in this Texas heat. Where it failed was the food and music. Food was subpar. My friends said the quesadillas smelled and tasted too fishy to eat. The double dip chip order was just ok. The Queso or whatever was too sweet. The music wasn't that great either. I almost didn't even hear or pay attention to it. I think I'll enjoy this place more during happy hour. read more

Great, large environment for groups (large!) to hang out at or even watch sporting events! I've been here 2 times now and each time it has been a great experience. All in all this place is primarily a place to hang out, snack, eat bar food. I haven't tried any of the "real food" dishes yet. I am actually surprised to see all the somewhat negative reviews. If I come back it would be to hang out with a large group of friends, snack and drink, but probably not to dine and wine. read more

+1.5 star for Ambiance. It was a nice fall evening with myself and 10 family members. We wanted to go somewhere nice and hip for my sister in law's birthday and heard there was live music, which is something she really enjoys. We came in at 8pm on a Friday night and there was about a 35 minute wait. No biggy. Expected. Actually expected it to be longer, but luckily it wasn't. The atmosphere was great, with a nice rustic feel. Felt like I was having a bonfire outside with my family on our ranch. If you're into that kinda thing I'd definitely recommend it. +.5 star for the food. The queso was good. The brisket tamale was good. The jalapeno corn bread was good. I'd highly recommend all of those things, as they were each very flavorful and were good takes on classic southern dishes. But we had a party of 11, and we like to share so not everything was great. Shared tacos were supposed to be street style. I don't know where they learned to make street tacos but it wasn't at any of the great taquerias I've been to around the country because the meat was underseasoned. The provided amount of onion and cilantro was virtually non existent for 3 orders. We didn't have enough even for 1 person. The salsa was decent and had a smoky flavor which is the sign of a good salsa, but again it was barely enough for 1 person though advertised for 2-3. My brother in law's steak was literally labeled on the menu as "The Big Steak", but there was no way it was more than 8 oz. This is Texas. "Big Steak" is supposed to border on regrettable size, isn't it? To make things worse, the steak was half medium rare / half well done. Maybe the kitchen was trying to get it at least half right to get half credit? I don't know, but he didn't wanna eat the rubber that was the well done half. The meatball appetizer tasted like it was from a frozen Costco bag of meatballs. Burger was just ok. Onion strings just ok. The other 2 tamales in the tamale trio were just ok. Now to the bad part The service was absolutely terrible. We were a table of 11 on a Friday night, so we were expecting maybe 2 waiters to serve us to make things easier for them. Our first waiter introduced himself and mentioned another waiters name, but we literally only saw her one time. We didn't even know if she was supposed to be helping our main waiter or not. We got our drink orders in first, which was great. Until it took 20 minutes to actually get the drinks. My wife asked 5 times for my drink cause I was ready to not even be bothered for it, as long as it didn't show up on the bill. We asked twice if we could put in our food orders as they delivered our waters, but I guess our waiter didn't hear us. So we just waited more. All our waters were empty before we had to ask if he could refill our waters. We didn't even ask for a 2nd or 3rd round of drinks cause it was gonna take so long anyways. After we finished our entrees, waiter once again was nowhere to be found. Took another 20 minutes just to pay the bill. We joked at the beginning that the service was purposely slow so you can enjoy the atmosphere for 3 hours. It was just a joke but the meal ended up taking 2 and a half hours. At the end of the meal, I almost insisted to my cousin, who was paying the whole bill for the points, to only tip 10%. We're a family that always tips at least 20% if not more; many of us used to be servers in our youth and know the struggles before you've made it. But he didn't deserve the customary 15%. I'm still kinda upset that we gave it to him anyways. My cousin said, "It's so messed up that you can be so sucky at your job at a semi fancy place and just get a free $60 like that". The Rustic is my second home! The GM, Brian, is absolutely incredible. He always makes everyone feel so special- like they're celebrities. I have felt that way every time I have gone and that's why I keep coming back! Their servers are NEXT level and so accomodating. The Rustic was pretty neat, I would definitely go again. The decor is really great and true to the name and the Saturday afternoon football crowd was really relaxed which was great. I did like the food for the most part. We had cactus fritters, wild boar meatballs and the rustic burger. The fritters had a nice batter on them but a bunch were stuck together and were not very good once they started getting cold. The boar meatballs were solid but I've eaten a lot of boar in my day and can say that they've got a lot of other stuff mixed in (probably to make them fluffier and more presentable). Lastly the burger was delicious and incredibly messy. The patty is huge so you may want to share. It came with homemade potato chips, most of which were lovely. I'm glad I tried the appetizers, they were worth a try once, but I would probably not get them again - I'd try some of the other interesting things on their menu. The bathrooms were confusing to me...you walk in a common hallway and there are two arrows (one pointing left/right) that say women/men and I almost got dyslexic and went in the men's room. I was not the only one at the table to do this lol. Also, in the women's restroom the very last stall before the handicapped restroom is not a stall at all...it just houses a mounted saddle. Normal, right? I also did not like the parking situation. It seemed like you were basically forced to valet which I'm morally against but I could've been mistaken. Overall a good experience and I'll be sure to visit again next time I'm in town. read more

The rustic has a really great atmosphere and a lot of potential. It has a great live music venue and outdoor seating. The one major drawback is it's weekend food selection. I went on Sunday after 3 PM and the only things available were a very limited number of appetizers and a very very limited lunch selection. There were such limited options that our server even told us he didn't blame us if we didn't want to eat there. Overall great venue, but bad lunch option on Sundays. read more

Minus the staff, this place was awesome. The second we walked in the hostess was super rude (to the point that we almost walked out.) We also went up to the bartender outside and asked if we order from him or if servers came around and he was very rude about that, as well. Once we had a server (I believe it was Oscar) he was great and made it a fun experience. We didn't eat, but the food looked and smelled delicious. The atmosphere was the coolest part. There was a band there, but in the two hours we were there I think we maybe heard 3 songs played by then. May have just been bad timing. read more

It doesn't get any more Texas than a visit to The Rustic! I've been dying to give this place a try since seeing the bright sign going up near the West Village. Finally gave it a go, and loved it! We arrived around 7:30p on a Friday night and there were already tons of people, no surprise there. We were informed the wait to eat inside would be close to 2 hours, so we went to the outdoor patio instead where it's open seating. It's also community style, so it helps not being shy to sit at a table with others. The only down side, was that there were no heaters or fire pits. That's always a plus in my book when the temperatures drop. It took a while for our waiter to come around, but as soon as he did he was helpful and offered suggestions of what was good. The margarita was nothing special, but I did like that they used the Dulce Vida organic tequila. The Texas beer selection was plentiful. We tried the dip trio as an appetizer, I just would have liked for the dips to be a little bit bigger since they give you so many chips. Yummy nonetheless! The corn queso was super interesting. For my dinner I ordered the baby kale salad and added shrimp. My fiance ordered the grilled shrimp. Both were really good, and the salad was a pretty decent size. Love the outdoor live music patio which we end up staying for the entire night! Great place to hang with friends. I found the music to be a bit loud so hard to have a conversation with friends. Tasty bar food and our waitress was awesome checking on us quite often for refills. The only thing that we noticed that the crowd was filled with preppy guys all wearing similar checkered shirts and khaki shorts. Kind of a one note kind of crowd with no character. Love, love this restaurant!!! Just happened upon while spending a few days after Christmas in Dallas. We (family of 4) were on our way to HopDoddys when we passed The Rustic and decided to give it a try. Our waitress, Sara did an excellent job explaining the daily specials and the menu. We ordered the double queso appetizer that was delicious! The cold queso was my favorite. We ended up ordering 2 Rustic burgers and and 2 spicy chicken and cheese sandwiches. Both, were amazing!!! But I highly recommend ordering extra pickles for either. Something about that sweet spicy pickles on either sandwich just sent it over the top! Then, a manager came over to see how we felt about our experience at The Rustic and informed us we were getting a piece of peanut butter pie since it was our first visit. That pie was awesome!!! You have to try the pie!!! It is a peanut butter lover's dream!!! I highly recommend The Rustic and I can't wait to come back!!! read more

Visited the Rustic on a recent trip to Texas. Being from a small city my first impression is that this place is HUGE. Compared to some of the other bars and restaurants in the area I still would say this place is HUGE. The scene was great, big projector screen for games and a stage for concerts. The beer selection was excellent. I really enjoyed the outdoor seating, it was very unique. A negative was the food - it may have improved since first opening, but I was a little underwhelmed. The onion rings were a hot mess (more like a hot pile) it was difficult to enjoy them. Either way it will be a place we look forward to visiting again in the future. read more

Sitting outside in January is fine but the heaters don't heat the legs, so dress appropriately. This place is packed for a reason. A lot of young people, great food, amazing beer selection and live music. The staff is hit or miss. Our waiter was very attentive, but some complaints were heard from other patrons re: their wait staff. We will come again, all 4 of us enjoyed our meal. The only thing I don't care for was the coleslaw, not a lot if taste and I would like an alternate option as this came with most meals. read more

This place has a very trendy, cool atmosphere... hipper than hip. Nice open-air indoor/outdoor venue, great stage. We came on a Saturday around 3 PM and were quickly seated, but I can see how sometimes it would be very crowded. There were a large amount of people there already for an 'in-between-meal' time as it was. We sat inside because outside, the live music was a bit loud. Inside it was less intrusive on our conversation. I went with two friends and we ordered the duck wing appetizers, deviled eggs, house made potato chips with queso and french onion dip, and a coconut-chocolate root beer. individually, the boys ordered the quail with a side of avocado/jicama/cucumber salad and I had a grilled chicken baby kale salad. The food was quite tasty but also a bit on the pricey side. The queso was nothing special but the onion dip was fresh and delicious. The duck wings weren't to my liking but my companions liked them; I thought the deviled eggs were pretty mediocre and tasted like you get at any potluck. The salad was also nothing fancy although the pinto bean vinaigrette was interesting; the chicken was a little dry and overcooked, and considering it's $5 extra to add a few chicken strips to your already-expensive veggie-only salad, I expected better. The guys said the quail was really good though, and their avocado salad side was yummy and fresh. There's an extensive drink menu but I'm not a drinker so this didn't matter to me. However, to most people I can see where it would be a huge draw. The food is like upscale comfort food, with everything from burgers to a fine steak, and we had a nice time. However, I doubt we'll make it a regular thing--- my lunch was almost $40 and I wasn't wowed. read more

If you're looking for a lively place to spend a Friday or Saturday night out, this is one you won't want to pass up. The Rustic has a little bit of everything. What really stands out about this place however is the stage of course. The stage has seating inside with a view side stage, and then there is also a large patio style venue viewing the main stage out back. I'm sure the shows are great in the summer, but even in the winter they offer plenty of propane heaters to keep you smiling. There are a lot of servers running around, the night I was there I had both a great server and a bad server. Both had good intentions, one was just not too bright... I was not able to give the food a sample but there was a great selection of beer (as far as beer selection in Texas goes). I'm an Oregonian, sorry if that sounded a little bitter... There were a ton of people and it's a loud place. So I will just say that I recommend this place to a younger crowd. And if you like music and good beer, don't you dare hesitate! read more

What a FUN place! Fabulous service, uniquely great atmosphere. Casual and super friendly. Great photo op spot with the steel steer at the front. Cocktails were great and ALL the food was really good. I had the margarita sangria swirl with a popsicle in it! I had the deviled eggs and crab cake and shrimp. All wonderful. Outdoor seating with mist fans and playground rocks on the ground with little kids and big kids dancing to the live band. Definitely coming back! read more
