Avocado salad was good. Comparable to the veggie salad with chicken from Flower Child. Deviled eggs were really good. Great consistency with the yellow part and nice crunch with the crispy pig skin. The burger was soggy as hell. Brioche bun does not mix with bunch of sauce on top. We asked for medium rare and we got raw. Fries were cold. The trio potato chips don't mix with the dips, maybe the pimento spread but the brisket queso thing had too much going on. Service was fine. It seemed like the waiter was mad at us the whole time. It is too loud and we like to relax when we go out. read more

I always come here for 2 things: the cedar plank salmon, and the spicy Caesar salad *chefs kiss* . It is so good, you have to try it. The service here is always good and the staff is pleasant. Erwin was my server today and he was great! I don't believe they offer the same salmon at the downtown location so make sure you visit uptown park. read more

I absolutely enjoyed the vibes of The Rustic, food was good but only thing was their was a menu item that said vegan but wasn't truly. We let the chef know but it was cool after that. Sorry I didn't take pictures of the vegetarian food but it was awesome and drinks were good as well. read more

First time dining at this location and I've been so eager to go! Definitely smaller than the other location in Polk but it has lots of charm and it's very spacious. It also has a stage and an outdoor area! For a busy Tuesday night they were able to seat us right away which was a plus. Krystal took great care of us. The menu was online. Lots of drinks to choose from especially on tap. I had the A-Z Pinot Noir which is amazing. They're known for their wines on tap and craft cocktails! Chose to indulge in the Texas tamales as an appetizer. They were DELICIOUS. The chicken was definitely my favorite. The brisket was the runner up. For my entree, I ordered the prime rib and I was not disappointed! Super flavorful and I was so happy they didn't run out (I had actually gotten the last slice!) if you want prime rib, you gotta go early! Also got the broccoli and Mac and cheese to go with it. The worst place i have ever been in my life. We came here for a surprise birthday party. You sit at long picnic tables so and everyone could not meet. Because the music was so loud, you couldn't hear each other. My complaining to Management did no good. The food is good even though the drink menu doubles the food list. So if you want to go and completely obliterated, This would be the place. The service is good. The help is sweet, poor things! They'll have permanent ear damage from this place. We went for brunch for the first time. Brunch is $18 p/p I believe and comes with a variety of dishes. Our waitress was new and inexperienced and was not very good at explaining how brunch worked--but we figured it out. Brunch comes with French toast, quiche (can be subbed for scrambled eggs), bacon, chorizo, avocado toast, a donut assortment, and probably something else I'm missing. Everything was really good--especially the French toast. Waitress initially told us we couldn't by separate dishes...but that was not true. You can add on additional dishes and I assume just ask for one instead of the full serving. I didn't care for the rosemary syrup that went on with the French toast, but it's bearable. Next time I'd bring my own . I would definitely revisit as I enjoyed the live Dj and large TV Screens. This would be a great place to watch a game with friends. read more

Update: they respond to bad reviews asking reviewers to email guest relations to "make things right." I emailed over a week ago and have been completely ignored, radio silence. Customer service is a literal JOKE here. This place unfortunately tops the worst dining experience I've had in Houston thus far. My friend and I came to the bar on a Thursday night, starving and assuming this place would be a safe choice considering it seemed to have a lot of people eating there. Huge mistake. I sat down in my dirty, crumb filled bar seats and we started with drinks: a sangria and a cocktail called Pineapple Smoke, both were literally undrinkable. I can deal with a drink that's too strong or too weak but these were just rancid; the sangria was pure soda basically and tasted how I imagine Windex to taste and the cocktail had the same bitter chemically flavor yet neither tasted of alcohol whatsoever. We ordered salad, artichoke and fries and waited forever for food that never came. I could look past the food taking a long time if the service was halfway decent but the service was as bad as the drinks. I'm not one to ever complain about service, ever. This is a first, but the service we got here was really just exceptionally awful, and I say this as someone who has worked in the restaurant industry for years. The bar only had a handful of customers and multiple bartenders working yet we were basically completely ignored. As a bartender, If a *salad* is taking upwards of 20 minutes to come out, I'd at least check on it or check in with my customers who were sitting right in front of me. Eventually we got so hungry that we had to leave and I just paid for my full, untouched gross drink and we left. There was zero customer service involved, the manager was standing right there when this happened and the bartenders never offered up any sort of politeness, just bad service all the way around. 0/0 would never recommend this place to anyone read more

Have you had the brunch from The Rustic Oak? I was very impressed. You get a wide variety of dishes all for $16.95. This however is only served on Saturdays and Sundays till 3 PM. They are known for their Kitchen, Backyard, Bar, and Live Music. They had live music this time. The previous two times I went I went for dinner there was none. There are now 2 locations. This is a nice place to hang out for some live music. However, this is not a place for conversations between friends because you almost need to shout out loud for other people to hear you. The waitress got our orders wrong because she couldn't hear us clearly. The ambience is nice. Came by for apps and drinks with a couple of friends to support a local artist for the live music shows. I tried the Steakhouse Onion Rings, Cactus Fries, French Fries, and the Smoked Dipped Duo. I will say out of all the appetizers, the Smoked Dipped Duo was my fave-- they serve it with a smoked firewood chips that give a smoky flavor to the chips which is perfectly accompanied by a brisket cheddar fondue and cold pimento dip. The cold pimento dip was okay but far too salty for my liking. The fries were also great and the onion ring battered had a spiced kick to it. All in all, they were great choices but the mushroom chop continues to be my favorite. I paired the apps with ginger beer as not many refreshing beverage choices nor ginger ale were available. The service was superb and we had a group of eight that turned into twelve at the end of the evening, and they were truly accommodating the whole time. The live music was my favorite and most enjoyable part of the evening with Kathryn Brewer as the acoustic country artist. read more

Stopped by after an event at the Post Oak Hotel and everyone was very friendly as soon as you stepped in. We were seated quickly and given a menu. We just had drinks but everything smelled amazing. Would recommend giving it a try whether after work or on the weekends. Hadn't been to this location only the one downtown. Several customers came in for a late lunch party. Went here on a Thursday and it was a tad busy. Service was a little slow and I only saw my server to order and he refilled our waters once after we called him over. For appetizers we got the queso and empanadas. Both were VERY good! But that's pretty much the only highlight. I got the pecan crusted sea bass and yea it might have been the worse looking fish dish I've ever had as well as the worse tasting. Perfect after work hang out spot. I frequent the rustic for happy hour and brunch. The brunch is buffet style only, but the options widely vary and it's more than enough to fill you up. The waiters are always quick and checking up on you and the live entertainment is a great touch, along with it being an indoor and outdoors space. It can get pretty busy so if that bothers you, you may want to avoid peak hours. read more

Sad to say we had a poor experience today for Father's Day. It started with no plates on the table for our food, which was served 5 minutes before we could eat it. We had a large party that mostly ordered the brunch special. Half of the table had food with no plates and we asked 3 separate people for help. We found out that we were served another tables food which is why the portions were off. Two members of our party work in the food service industry and alerted our server to the mistakes, she explained the mixed up, apologized and explained that our food was being prepared. We explained that half of us had food that we couldn't eat and the other side of the table had nothing which is not acceptable service. Then we were met with an attitude. The potatoes and bacon were severely over seasoned and the biscuits were hard. Needless to say the price was not worth the food or service and Postino down the street is a much better option!! read more

When I say the brunch here @therusticpostoak was so exceptionally amazing , I mean just that. The entire spread was made up of different tastes, flavors and everything was completely delicious. . Not only that but the live music ambiance really set the tone. This amazing spread is called the "Let's Jam " brunch which is served family style. This includes : cheese & fruit, avocado toast, country baked eggs, green salad with lemon dressing, sausage & bacon, Nashville hot chicken with fried pickles, baby fried toast with vanilla custard and rosemary syrup . The Rustic is the brainchild of FreeRange Concepts (Kyle Noonan and Josh Sepkowitz) and Texas country artist Pat Green, whose love of the outdoors and live music helped bring The Rustic to life.

Do I need reservations for a week day at 630pm?

I've never needed a reservation so you should be good with just walking in. Also, if you do call ahead they won't seat you until every person in your party has arrived.

Im not sure if they allow pets, I didn't see a single pet inside. You might wanna call them to make sure.

Reservations are ONLY accepted Mon-Wed...no reservations allowed Thurs-Sun since this is their busiest time and The Rustic is meant to stay and enjoy the food and live music etc so it's not the normal eat and leave type establishment!

Even though the state of texas allows you to purchase your son an alcoholic beverage for consumption in your presence, that is not allowed at this restaurant.

I'd give the food a 4 but I would think, since they make their own pastries, they would make a bread to serve with dinner! But no bread so that drops it down a point or 2. I had ordered (pre-paid) for the bread pudding. It was good, legit bread pudding. The place itself is a coffee bar so it looks and acts like a coffee bar. Now to the coffee bar. Someone there ordered and espresso drink. They don't have a knock box and so he proceeded to knock out the very old puck into a trash can under the sink then rinsed it. Then the shot glass looked like it had been there unrinsed from the morning. Then as he proceeded to make the espresso- he had to fill the espresso machine (with tap water). Hands down, the worst dinning experience we've ever had. After initial greet, it took our server Alex?(who knows, I've spent more time writing this than he did at our table) 25 min to come back to take our order for the starters. 30 min later, starters come out, we ate them and finished. We sat there for 25 min. Our sever pops up to take our mains(45 min since the last time we saw him). 40 min after this point, he brings out our steak knives... food hits the table shortly after. Things look like they are about to take a turn for the better. Psych. No forks. We sat there for 10 min waiting for someone to notice us trying to get a hold of someone. Another 5 min go by... At this point, our of sheer frustration, I pushed our side plate with our steak knives off the table in hopes of someone hearing it. 4 min go by and someone finally appears. They get us forks. Server pops back up after 20 min to take an empty glass off table. By the time we got our forks, Food is cold ( I would have been happy with warm at this point). We got up and left. To begin with, Jose, our waiter showed great patience for me, while I waited for my friend to arrive (an hour later). I also have food allergies and he was kind enough to bring a young lady out, Morgan to confirm which foods didn't have dairy. She was also patient and showed terrific professionalism while explaining. My friend and I order drinks and appetizers first, and just enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant while we waited for our meals. We came to The Rustic for a birthday celebration. To begin, Nevaeh was amazing. She was very accommodating when I called to make reservations for 16. I had to call back to change our reservations and she was a joy to work with. Thank you, Nevaeh, for being so helpful. The food was delicious. We had the smoked queso as an appetizer and it did not disappoint. Our main course was perfect, too!! The service was top notch! Erwin and Tina excelled in their ability to keep our large group happy. No one in our group ever needed to wait long for anything. They were on top of everything - drinks, food, special requests, etc. They even brought out a special dessert for my brother's birthday. This was too sweet! An extra bonus - Happy Hour was from 3:00-6:00. They had $5 Frozen drinks. In addition, there were some live performances that began at 4:00. We went to The Rustic last minute to grab drinks with a friend and decided to share a meal since we were slightly hungry. We had their signature burger and cactus fries which were awesome! Our server was Julieanne and she was great! Have us recommendations as it was our first time and prompt service! We're in our late 30's so we really enjoyed the music that evening, which they were playing a lot of 90's and 2000's rock and even some in Spanish with Alejandro Joel Miramontes. Nothing like being taken back to your youth. We were suppose to only enjoy maybe 2 hours but we stayed till close because we enjoyed everything, the drinks, food, service and music. We had closed out our tab at one point and asked for more drinks from Davion as he passed by and really appreciated his prompt service. We will be back when we can catch another date night kids free. Hope the music is just as good. read more

I recently dined at The Rustic in the Galleria, and I must say, the service provided by our waiter, Jonathan, was top-notch. From the moment we sat down, Jonathan was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. He took the time to recommend dishes and drinks that suited our tastes, and his suggestions were spot on. Despite the restaurant being busy, Jonathan ensured that our drinks were refilled promptly and that our food arrived hot and fresh. He was always available when we needed something, yet never hovered, which made for a relaxed dining experience. His professionalism and warm demeanor truly enhanced our night out. If you're dining at The Rustic, I hope you're lucky enough to have Jonathan as your server. His excellent service is a perfect complement to the restaurant's great food and lively atmosphere.
