I came for their brunch with a friend and for 2 people the family style is a great deal. There was nothing to rave about taste wise but it was decent. HOWEVER, I came recently for dinner and scoured the menu for at least 30 minutes for something to eat despite being starving. I wanted the harvest bowl which was listed for lunch and I was told could be made for dinner but apparently not. I knew better than to order a steak and the salads looked a bit sad on previous reviews. My friend ordered the smoked dip duo as an appetizer and despite the presentation the flavor was disappointing. He also got the filet with a side of fries. He ordered it med well and it came out way past well like a hockey puck. I decided to get the "spoon bread" thinking it would be moist corn bread but it is legitimately uncooked batter with a crust. I immediately asked to send it back without even trying it but the manager urged me to try it first. It tasted like boiled onions with the texture of baby food. They took it away and took it off of my check. They offered to get me something else but I had no faith in the kitchen. My drink (the grapefruit sour) was half decent though. The service is good and bathrooms are clean with plenty of parking. They have live music and when it's food it adds to the vibe but when it's bad... well it gives a layer of entertainment either way. Unfortunately the food is too much of a let down to even give 3 stars. I won't return.

It was our first time here and we were delighted by the live performance, quick service and delicious food. Our server Logan was prompt and took great care of us. He answered all our questions and made sure to come back often to check up on us. Nice that he also helped us with our group photo. Loved the large onion rings, crab cakes, tamales and their meat dish options. I did wish the steak with cheese inside, didn't spill out on arrival.

Went for lunch with my boyfriend, first time for me. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. The food tasted great and trust me... the servings were more than any one person should eat in one sitting. The beers were cold and the atmosphere was open and airy. Not a real complaint but it was noisier than I expected. Fine for a date or out to lunch with friends but I would not try and hold a business lunch there is items were to be discussed.

The restaurant was nice and cozy on the inside. Staff were nice and we were seated promptly. We were offered the happy hour menu and ordered a few drinks off the menu to start off. Now nothing against our server because she was really nice. But the service was extremely slow for the restaurant being that empty on a Saturday. We ordered some appetizers which also took some time to make. The oysters were ok at best and the onion rings were actually really good! My wife ordered the salmon Caesar salad and I got the wild boar chili. I'm still not 100% sure why it took over 30 mins to get the food. On top of that, they over cooked my daughter's burger, forgot my chips that I had to ask for near the end of my meal. I probably won't be coming back to this restaurant but it was an experience to say the least.

Great live music with mellow 70s rock, friendly service, and a comfortable atmosphere. I usually come with a big group, and this visit was no different. The cedar plank salmon was a solid recommendation, and the spoon bread was delicious. I had the non‑alcoholic margarita since I was driving, and it was refreshing. Always a good time here.

I booked an event at The Rustic back in June of this year for this week. Originally was going to book the downtown location but they easily switched me to the Uptown location since it would be more convenient for our guests. We had 30 guests. Communication was excellent, Shea and Kristina helped me and then Ingrid took over once I moved the reservation. Tkoi was the ops manager who assisted once we were settled. Our party arrived right at 530pm, we booked a 3 hour event. We knew parking would be a challenge, so many people carpooled. Little did we know, there is a parking garage that is free and across the street. I might have missed that detail, if not, definitely recommend that instead of trying to find parking. I did valet for 8.00 which was not bad at all. We were seated inside right in front of the stage which was nice, the area was sectioned off, with about 6 picnic tables. We had 3 servers who took great care of us from start to finish. I selected Corn Hole as a game, which was an added cost but very reasonable. My guys loved this and it was also right in front of the open area. There was a performer that night but we could not hear that well. We mostly mingled and talked with our party anyway, the band was a nice touch behind the scenes. Food service was on time and plentiful, appetizers served at 545, meal at 615. It was plenty of food. The food: excellent! I selected wild boar meatballs, chicken tamales and cracklin deviled eggs. My favorite app was the chicken tamale. Very nice flavor with a little kick of spice. The meatballs were good too and so were the eggs. They were my least favorite. They kept the apps coming and we had food setup on each table along with drink service. My second favorite thing was the Texas fondue. It was nice and spicy too, the chips did not seem to be tortilla chips but they were good and crispy. The chicken and brisket tacos were very good. Chicken tinga was my favorite and everyone devoured them and the mushrooms were a surprise hit. Some of my party ordered off the menu as they stayed behind after our time was over. It was not crowded although it was a Thursday night. Our drink package included premium liquor, beer and wine and soft drinks. The house margarita was included, the package accommodated the group well. The giant beers were refreshing and they had a wide variety on tap. Only complaint: the restrooms did not have towels, they had dryers that shut off really quickly. Overall, I was very pleased with the communication throughout, the venue itself and the food and drinks. I would love to come back when I can actually listen to some music.

Have enjoyed Brunch Jam and dinner here. It's always fabulous - delicious food, tasty cocktails, and attentive service. I haven't tried happy hour yet but it's high on my list! The brunch - it's amazing! I bring my young adult kids and we always enjoy the full spread. It gives us time to talk, catch up, and eat great food. The variety is good and everyone finds things they really like.

A friend was visiting out of town for a conference and The Rustic turned out to be the perfect Happy Hour on a Sunday! While the food options on the menu are limited (the brisket nachos are uniquely served with baked potato chips rather than tortillas), there are plenty of cocktails to choose from. Nico, the bartender, kept the drinks flowing and explained that the "Rustic" espresso martini only came with one coffee bean (II've been told that 3 coffee beans is the standard for "good luck"). The Rustic Uptown location is super spacious, airy, and feels more modern and less farmhouse when compared to their downtown location (though, I do appreciate that aesthetic, too!).

Love this place!! Such a fun vibe. And it's huge!! I love the live band playing. The food is also really really good. We got the deviled eggs to start and they were some of the best I've ever had for sure. We also got the mushroom side and hands down the best mushroom I've ever had. I can't explain it- it was thin sliced and marinated in something perfect. Then my mom and I both got the cedar plank salmon and the portion was HUGE- I loved it. Usually restaurants skimp on the protein, especially fish, so I really appreciate that they didn't do that! They also cary THC drinks which is getting more popular, but hard to find in restaurants so I thought this was cool. Overall the vibe was great and the food was amazing. Will be coming back!!

I came here with my husband, 2 year old daughter , and 2friends. Our server was Erwin. Erwin was one of a kind! He offered suggestions and was super friendly! He was very attentive even when it got busy. We went on a Friday evening and there was an event going on. We got seated right away and got our food and drinks fast. Late post... but this was an awesome experience. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff... We ate, drank, and sat there for hours talking. It was in December, so it was cold, but they did close the large patio doors after a while. Pretty much everything was delicious, and I would definitely go back again. read more

Wow, I regret to say I didn't have a great experience at The Rustic. I'm very new to Houston and was looking for somewhere to hangout with a friend. I visited Houston last year and was taken to the rustic's other location and loved it. However, at that time I only enjoyed drinks and a performance --no food so so couldn't vouch for the cuisine. But, since I enjoyed myself so much that time I decided to try them for dinner. But, this time, I went to the Uptown Location. I went with high hopes but was very disappointed. We arrived on a Wednesday night and were surprised to see the place was JUMPING. We didn't have reservations or anything but, I didn't mind waiting. We checked in with the hostess and she was able to have someone usher us to a table within 10 mins so that was GREAT! The restaurant is BEAUTIFUL! Casual, dimly lit, and kinda "barnyard-sexy". There's a huge stage at the front and I wasn't sure we'd get a performance since it was a weeknight but sure enough, some performers got up there and started setting up. Cool! Our waiter came over and introduced himself, suggested some drink orders, and left to get our drinks. Then another server came over and seemed to be confused thinking she was our waitress so we really didn't know what was going on. We told her the name of the previous guy and she said, "oh" and left. Next thing we know, she became our waitress for the rest of the night-no explanation. Ok then. THE DRINKS: Our drinks came out (we'd chosen one of the drink specials the original waiter recommended) and we did NOT like them at all. They tasted like water mixed with dark liquor. When our waitress came back to take our orders we told her we didn't like them and she suggested a new drink, brought them out, but never took the old drinks away--they sat on the table the whole night. Ok then. The new drinks she brought out were no better unfortunately. There was something missing from both drinks...I think it was flavor?! We could taste the alcohol but the flavor was lacking. We decided not to make a fuss and we liked the waitress, she was super sweet (and very cute :) so we just drank them. THE FOOD: The menu was interesting, a good variety of choices but not many items, if any, for vegans and vegetarians. Luckily, I eat seafood so I ordered the oysters and the cactus fries. Listen, so I will readily admit I had NO IDEA that the cactus fries were actually cactus! I thought that was just a clever name for French fries and maybe they had some topping on them that reminded you of a cactus. No! They're fried cactus. I bit into one and was shocked. Lol. They weren't bad but...were they good? Mmm. They were good in the sense that anything fried is good. Like, you could fry a shoe and it would probably taste good. They had a nice crunch to them and the batter was crispy and airy. However, the cactus inside was not flavorful at all. It tasted like the drinks...watery. I ate half because my friend was paying and I didn't want to waste her money. Next up, the fried oysters. I LOVE OYSTERS so I was excited to order these. They came out looking DELICIOUS so I had high hopes but unfortunately they were extremely chewy and grainy. Ugh. I was so disappointed and ended up chewing up and spitting out every single one--there was not ONE I could actually swallow and enjoy. And they were not cheap. My friend ordered the salmon. I asked how it was and she just shrugged and said, "okay." We left still hungry and unsatisfied and ended up going somewhere else for dinner and drinks. read more

Really really weird place. The food was okay. Not super filling for a brunch. Nothing on the menu that was throughly impressive. So the weird parts::: 1). Took 15-20min just to order a drink. We were the 3-4th group to be sat this morning. We had to request a server. 2) After requesting a server, the server didn't know anything. Asked questions about the brunch menu and the server always had to check then come back with the response "I think..." 3) the Server didn't know the menu well so when I asked about a certain item on the menu I was told that's not part of the dish. I then had to show them on the menu. 4) ordering a cold brew and didn't get cream or sugar... usually coffee will come with those options or at least be offered. Also the cold brew was very weak. Like it was steeped for 20min. 5) there was a random meeting in the bar area with all the severs. I imagine to talk about how the business plan is to be vague to the customers and offer little continuity. 6) asked two separate servers about requesting additional servings options from the brunch menu. One said anything you want to can request more. The other said there was an additional charge. After ordering an additional serving I was NOT charged.... Overall this place could be good with better management/direction. The food was okay to say the least. But again nothing that makes me NEED to come back for another meal. I tried it twice. I missed the music times, which is perfect because I didn't want to listen to any musicians while I ate. I was happy with the vibe and the layout and the service. Everyone I talked to was friendly and helpful. The menu is good. Classic Americana. I was excited to try--and enjoyed--the cactus fries. I had a great salad, perfectly prepared green beans, perfectly fine shells and cheese, excellent french fries with a nice spicy ranch and tasty banana pudding. I like the peanut butter pie. Super rich and a huge portion, while not cloyingly sweet. I don't care about chocolate, but I'm sure the base and crust are great for chocolate lovers. If I had a minor complaint, it would be the ingredients. It seems like pretty middle of the road food distribution quality. The lettuce had some floppy edges and thick heart pieces. The cheese mixture for the shells and cheese was super basic, if we'll seasoned. I wish they would work on quality control for all ingredients. This is probably realistic for the price point and the money they spent on decor, rent, and space for a stage, but still. If they keep the affordable ingredients, they need to work on quality control. (The green beans seemed perfect for example. Nothing special on the ingredients, but perfectly selected pieces.) I go four stars, which means I'll be back for more meals. Try it out. read more

The food is always on point here. Highly recommend the french dip and the cheese quesso with brisket. One small opportunity for improvement: Had lunch here yesterday and wanted the soup and half sandwich but asked for the french dip instead of the other offerings from the menu. I asked our waitress if they could do that, and the answer from the kitchen was "no." Had they said; 'Sure, but we have to uncharge you $4" that would have been fine. I did not deduct a star for that because our awesome server Ava more than made up for this slight inconvenience. Ava was friendly, never let my tea go beyond half empty, and seemed to genuinely enjoy what she was doing. Also, 5 stars for her smile! This place had a good vibe, server was nice and the food was okay. I didnt like that the mains didn't come with sides those are an add on, $15 for a sandwich and no fries, that's an extra 6 for that. My brother got the portobello side( 1 portobello for $8)My husband liked his hot chicken sandwich, I had the spoon bread which was very hot(for me) but tasted good. Just a bit too pricey. Went for Saturday Brunch and it was surprisingly good. It's family style and really more like a sampling of the entire menu for $17. Pair that with a Bellini pitcher for $20 and you have a pretty decent start to the day. Only complaints: the live music was extremely loud and also bad - and the banana pudding, while decent, was way too runny. Good but not enough to have me coming back frequently. read more

We recently visited Houston to celebrate my birthday and decided to check out The Rustic for brunch on Sunday. Even though there is a Rustic location close to our home in Dallas, our first time visiting was at this Houston location. When we arrived we didn't have to wait to be seated, and when we walked in we realized it's because there is plenty of seating! Our waitress was extremely nice and explained the concept of the family style brunch to us. We ordered the brunch, a carafe of mimosas, and a tequila based bloody mary that was great. The live music is also a nice touch. Overall the food, drinks, and service was great! We had a great time and will definitely be back when we are in town. read more

Stopped by here with some friends and we absolutely loved it. Our waitress was so sweet and attentive, I would go back simply for her service. I came here with a group of friends for a late-night drink; this is a good place for that, particularly for their MASSIVE frozen margs! I enjoyed the glitzy barn-like atmosphere, with a stage for live music. The Rustic has a huge dining area (both indoor and outdoor seating I believe). I really liked my Legendary frozen marg; it was mango-flavored and came with a giant mango purée popsicle. I'd say it's the drink to order there! I liked the Rustic but it didn't score five stars with me because the service was really slow even when there weren't that many customers the night we went. Waiting over :20 minutes for a refill while the staff stands around talking to themselves. Only after I finished eating was I asked if I wanted a refill or my check. Clearly management is more focused on watering the plants than customer service, yet my check gives me options for greater tips. Not sure why. I had ordered (pre-paid) for the bread pudding. It was good, legit bread pudding. The place itself is a coffee bar so it looks and acts like a coffee bar. Now to the coffee bar. Someone there ordered and espresso drink. They don't have a knock box and so he proceeded to knock out the very old puck into a trash can under the sink then rinsed it. Then the shot glass looked like it had been there unrinsed from the morning. Then as he proceeded to make the espresso- he had to fill the espresso machine (with tap water). Last- it was Aerosmith on repeat. I like them as much as the next guy, but how about some variety. I guess if I lived in the area I might go back to try their breakfast. Anyway- I ubered there and I wish now I would have just eaten at the hotel bar.

The first girl who answered, I think her name was Natalie or Natalia, was very kind and got the manager on the phone. That is where it went downhill. The manager would not provide any reference number or anything at all. She just repeated our order back to us. Diet Coke, strawberry lemonade, Reds double burger meal, royal Red Robin burger, triple yumm platter, and the cookies. We explained we were given frozen cookies and she said yes that is correct. We asked if that is how they are served in restaurant and she said yes they are served frozen in restaurant and to go. We told her the menu says soft cookies and frozen cookies are not soft. She doubled down and said they were served exactly how they are supposed to be. My husband asked again for a ticket number so we could just verify with corporate and if we were wrong then no problem. She then got super patronizing and said "oh you had a good experience but it was the cookies, oh my goodness it was the cookies." It is honestly wild that she spoke to us like that. She then offered to refund the cookies which we said was not necessary because we just wanted to give feedback. She kept going on about how it was the cookies and how that is how they serve them. Like why would I pay for frozen cookies. Please get a grip. Hugo was kind and doing his best but it took over 20 minutes to box up frozen cookies. We just wanted to give feedback or be told we misunderstood, not be talked down to. I would not recommend coming here for to go orders, you might get a frozen patty next.

There is a cover charge of $10 for most of the performances but if you check out their website and the calendar, some of the shows are free also. The crowd is mixed but as would be expected with the genre of music, it's older - I would guess the average age of the crowd on the night I was there was 50-60 but they were getting down and having a good time so that's the important part! Parking kind of sucks here so I would suggest coming in early and if you find something in the parking lot or by the mechanic shop, back your car in because people will likely park behind you and it'll be pretty tight getting out later. There is also street parking around the neighborhoods but check the signs to make sure you don't need a permit.

I know that's a lot to some, but I feel like drinks are $12-$15 these days (and not even craft cocktails). I'll also point out that I went to an outdated movie theater recently (AMC 8 downtown), and their wines were $20 a glass. So what you pay for in premium movie tickets at iPic, the food/drink options are better quality and probably cheaper compared to other basic movie theaters.

Hands down, the worst dinning experience we've ever had. After initial greet, it took our server Alex?(who knows, I've spent more time writing this than he did at our table) 25 min to come back to take our order for the starters. 30 min later, starters come out, we ate them and finished. We sat there for 25 min. Our sever pops up to take our mains(45 min since the last time we saw him). 40 min after this point, he brings out our steak knives... food hits the table shortly after. Things look like they are about to take a turn for the better. Psych. No forks. We sat there for 10 min waiting for someone to notice us trying to get a hold of someone. Another 5 min go by... At this point, our of sheer frustration, I pushed our side plate with our steak knives off the table in hopes of someone hearing it. 4 min go by and someone finally appears. They get us forks. Server pops back up after 20 min to take an empty glass off table. By the time we got our forks, Food is cold ( I would have been happy with warm at this point). We got up and left. Won't ever be returning to this place. Bummer, we were so excited to finally have a date night where we could check it out. Oh well. Whataburger it is. read more

My friend suggested this location, and it was our first time dining here. The experience was absolutely outstanding! To begin with, Jose, our waiter showed great patience for me, while I waited for my friend to arrive (an hour later). I also have food allergies and he was kind enough to bring a young lady out, Morgan to confirm which foods didn't have dairy. She was also patient and showed terrific professionalism while explaining. My friend and I order drinks and appetizers first, and just enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant while we waited for our meals. One of our glasses were dirty, and Marshall (Store manager) brought another glass out on the house. The staff was great, food and drinks, delicious, and the afternoon atmosphere just beyond exceptional. I would recommend this place to anyone. I also would hope to have Jose as our waiter again. We came to The Rustic for a birthday celebration. To begin, Nevaeh was amazing. She was very accommodating when I called to make reservations for 16. I had to call back to change our reservations and she was a joy to work with. Thank you, Nevaeh, for being so helpful. The food was delicious. We had the smoked queso as an appetizer and it did not disappoint. Our main course was perfect, too!! The service was top notch! Erwin and Tina excelled in their ability to keep our large group happy. No one in our group ever needed to wait long for anything. They were on top of everything - drinks, food, special requests, etc. They even brought out a special dessert for my brother's birthday. This was too sweet! We went to The Rustic last minute to grab drinks with a friend and decided to share a meal since we were slightly hungry. We had their signature burger and cactus fries which were awesome! Our server was Julieanne and she was great! Have us recommendations as it was our first time and prompt service! We're in our late 30's so we really enjoyed the music that evening, which they were playing a lot of 90's and 2000's rock and even some in Spanish with Alejandro Joel Miramontes. Nothing like being taken back to your youth. We were suppose to only enjoy maybe 2 hours but we stayed till close because we enjoyed everything, the drinks, food, service and music. We had closed out our tab at one point and asked for more drinks from Davion as he passed by and really appreciated his prompt service. We will be back when we can catch another date night kids free. If you ever come here you have to try the smoked dip duo and request BRIANNA as your server! She gave amazing menu suggestions and was very much on point! Our food and modifications all came out perfectly! The drinks were amazing we had a margarita on the rocks and espresso martinis! The food, the service, the ambiance. Everything is perfect here. This is one of the best brunch spots in Houston. $18 and you get a wonderful assortment of foods from sweet to savory. It's a lovely blend of so many different foods. We did the pitcher of Bellini and it was amazing. They don't skimp on the vodka which is always appreciated. The live music was great, not too loud which is a problem I run into. It was a great way to spend my Sunday morning. And Paola our server was incredible. She was so sweet, quick to get us everything.
