    Fried Green Tomato appy, yum

Looking for a money brunch spot in VA Beach, look no more as Rustic Spoon is a solid choice. Started w/a Bacon Bloody w/shrimp skewer and then onto a Key Lime Crush. Oh yeah for food the biscuits were nice and buttery and fluffy, fried green tomato appy was a nice choice, I had the Carnitas Benedict and the Mushroom Toast stole the show.

The ambiance is ok, may need a little more to make it feel a bit more special. The food and service makes up for the ambiance having a dull feeling. I had the carnitas omelet and it was delish. My friend had the avocado sandwich and it was also excellent. As apps we had the Brussels and they were good just a bit in the too much vinaigrette and needed some salt for me. The tomatoes were so yummy and don't like tomatoes. The drinks were all great!!! The manager or owner was so attentive, totally will return

My avocado eggs Benedict had soggy English muffins and also the avocado was basically a thin spread, not fresh avocados. Hubby got a Reuben and fries. I did it again, I forgot to ask for unsalted fries. Our server brought me a steaming hot separate bowl of tots without any extra charge. There is a bar in back but the dining area was clean.

I finally tried Rustic Spoon & on a night when there wasn't a large crowd! Food was yummy & the service was great! Looking forward to going again to try more of their menu!

Plenty of parking Great service staff are attentive and friendly Ordered studded french toast, coffee, & a la carte bacon. The French toast was fluffy and sweet and filled with an amazing merengue with fruit on top. It was so sweet and delicious. The bacon was crispy and firm. Coffee was hot and smooth. A great meal altogether, a wonderful brunch experience - will definitely return!

Me and my girls got together for a turned up brunch!! We had a reservation and got seated with no issues. Our waitress was friendly and she was attentive to our needs. It was almost a full house, so I'm glad my friend made the reservation. We ordered the berry compote biscuits with cream cheese lemon glaze, the rockfish benedict, calamari, risotto balls, carnitas hash, and Mac n cheese. The Mac n cheese never came, so I just took that as a sign that I didn't need it. Lol. The rockfish was fried well, alone it was bland, but as a whole dish with everything else it was good. You get a grilled green tomato with it, but I feel fried would have been better. But I enjoyed it. The calamari was delicious, the Thai chili sauce was popping popping!! My favorite!! The berry biscuits were good also. They forgot the lemon glaze at first, but quickly fixed it. The risotto balls were good but the sauce that came with it was bland and didn't go well with them. We enjoyed our meals for the most part. I like the Rustic spoon and will certainly return... Ask about their specials!! Check them out!!

My friends and I met up for brunch at The Rustic Spoon on Sunday. The place was pretty packed but thankfully, we made reservations and were able to be seated right away. Our server greeted us and was very friendly. She brought over waters and informed us of the brunch specials menu. After looking everything over, I decided to order the Fried Calamari and the Carnitas Hash, along with a Summer Berry Mimosa. Our food came out fairly quickly and I started by sampling a few things my friends ordered. The Berry Patch Biscuits were definitely on the sweeter side thanks to the berry compote and lemon cream cheese icing, but they were absolutely amazing. The Risotto Bites, on the other hand, were pretty flavorless and underwhelming. The Fried Calamari was fried perfectly and delicious as always. The Carnitas Hash tasted okay, but the potatoes were very hard and overcooked, which was disappointing. Overall, we had a decent time at brunch. A few hits and a few misses, but the atmosphere was lively, and service was good. I'd be open to coming back to try some other dishes.

Stopped by Rustic Spoon for a late lunch/early dinner on a busy Sunday, and I'm so glad I made a reservation. The parking lot was packed, the waitlist was long, but we walked right in and were seated at a great booth--no wait at all. Highly recommend reserving ahead if you're planning to visit, especially on the weekend. I wasn't super hungry, so I kept it light and ordered the homemade biscuits (which I'd heard a lot about) and the fried risotto balls. I also couldn't resist trying the Hot Honey Peach Margarita--and that was the true standout of the meal. That margarita? Five stars. Sweet, spicy, and dangerously good. I'm still thinking about it and honestly want to recreate it at home. The biscuits were warm, fluffy, and delicious--the butter had a unique flavor I almost identified as bacon grease? Not bad, just unexpected. The risotto balls were okay, but the sauce tasted like straight canned tomato paste--thick, bland, and not my favorite. The service was amazing. Our waitress was super friendly, helpful with suggestions, and checked in with us often. You could tell she really cared about making sure we had a great experience. Would I go back? Definitely. Would I order the same food? Maybe not. But for that cocktail, the vibe, and the great service? Absolutely.

    Carnitas Omelet

I liked the decor and ambiance of this spot and their menu is pretty big so there's something for everyone. We ordered the Japanese style pancakes (they take 25 min to make) which were tasty - very light and fluffy with a hint of sweetness but I'm not in a rush to get them again. I got the carnitas omelet which was also tasty but was deceiving because they stuffed it with some of the breakfast potatoes so it made it look bigger and fuller than it actually was. The meat was nice and tender though. Negatives - my breakfast potatoes were insanely salty though - I only had a few and I didn't care for the red pepper flakes they put on top of my omelet. Also we were debating what to order for my 22 month old and ordered a couple of sides, not realizing they had a kids menu. We were surprised our server didn't point that out. Overall I liked it but would probably order something different next time.

Our large party loved everything about this place. The food was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. Prices were great. The staff was extremely helpful and kind and the restaurant itself was wonderful. Thank you all for such a wonderful brunch!

Went again this year on vacation and everything was still great. The food was wonderful and the service goes above and beyond - definitely a must go every time we visit sandbridge.

I've been here several times, and the food is excellent. We made it for happy hour and visited on a Wednesday, and they had a special on burgers. The smash burger, fries, and drinks were fantastic. Service is top notch!

We also noticed they had a self-serve wine dispenser station, which was a cool touch and added to the overall experience. Everything was really good overall. The surf and turf was wonderful, and the bacon-wrapped shrimp absolutely stole the show for me. The crab dip was a little more creamy than I personally prefer, but it was still decent. Now the burnt ends... OMG, amazing. Easily one of the highlights of the night. Our lamb chops weren't originally cooked to the temperature we requested, but the flavor was good and they quickly re-prepared them with no issue, which we appreciated. For dessert, the chocolate layer cake was amazing, and the red velvet mini cake was just as good. Our server was also fantastic. She made sure we had everything we needed and answered all of our questions without hesitation. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with the experience.

P.S: The server and host were attentive and nice, so the low rating is entirely for the food. My bf and I ordered a truffle fries to share, I ordered the Braveheart Ribeye with broccolini and risotto(forgot what flavor but it was cooked in a cream sauce), and my bf ordered the Ribeye Lasagna. The truffle fries: the fries tasted fresh but they looked like the b-dub fries. Comes with ketchup, which I was hoping for some sort of aioli for an upscale chophouse. The Braveheart Ribeye: The temperature was what I asked for(medium rare), but the char is straight up crispy brunt and bitter as if I'm eating charcoal pieces. I also ordered a demi glaze on the side, and that tasted and looked like some McCormick sauce. No demi-glaze flavor and the color is transparent like those powdered gravy packets. The broccolini was bitter. They were tucked under the steak so maybe the brunt from the steak went onto the broccolini... The risotto was creamy but they were undercooked cuz they were still hard. My bf said his Ribeye Lasagna just tasted like a normal lasagna like he couldn't tell the difference of normal beef and the "ribeye meat" that they used, but it was a big size and the sauce was pretty good so he thinks it's worth the money. The creme brulee... I have this tradition with my bf which we will order a creme brulee(if the restaurant provides) during our first visit. I'm no Michelin creme brulee reviewer, but I'd say I tried and made enough creme brulee to identify what a standard and good creme brulee is, and unfortunately this just ain't one. The flame on top is a cool gimmick but it melts the supposedly crispy top to a little too soft (we waited for about 5 mins after the flame was gone before eating it). The texture of the creme was NOT creme brulee but more like flan, when the creme should've been more of a custard/solid but creamy like texture. We were told their creme brulee has a little orangey-taste to it, but the orangey taste just totally covers the flavor of creme brulee. All we could taste was a bitter orange flan. Although my bf likes his lasagna, we both agreed that for this price we would've expected better tasting food. I have no doubt that the ingredients they used were high quality, but this is just not gonna go nowhere when you don't have the right chef to cook them.

The flavor was great, portion of rice was HUGE (like... rice for days), but the spice level? Let's just say it politely waved at me from across the room. Next time, we're going full "Indian hot." My friend got the chicken tikka amritsari, which came in one of those elite takeout containers with the little compartments -- we love organization. As we were walking to our table (the restaurant has self-seating), my mother politely asked the owner if she could lower a window shade because the sun was shining directly in her face. The owner immediately responded, "No, no, can't do," and walked away. We ended up moving ourselves to another table where the sun wasn't an issue. What made this frustrating is that the shades are pull-down blinds, and in the past I've seen them adjusted for other customers. After ordering, everyone at our table received their food except me. All I ordered was two poached eggs, bacon, and French toast. About 10 minutes after everyone else's meals arrived, my food was finally brought out. By that point, the rest of the table was nearly finished eating. To make matters worse, my poached eggs contained multiple pieces of eggshell, forcing me to pick shells out of my mouth while eating. The eggs were also cold rather than warm. Another issue occurred when my mother asked for decaffeinated tea. The restaurant didn't have any decaf tea bags available, so she used one she had brought in her purse and simply requested a glass of hot water. The owner provided the hot water but charged her for it. When my mother asked why she was being charged despite supplying her own tea bag, the owner replied, "Because you use our hot water." I found this unreasonable, especially considering that customers are not charged for glasses of cold water. The overall condition of the restaurant has also declined significantly. The restroom was dirty and dusty and appeared not to have been cleaned thoroughly in quite some time. The furniture was worn, damaged, and covered with chipped paint. Eddie's Cafe used to be one of my favorite breakfast spots, but based on this visit, the quality of both the service and the facility has deteriorated considerably. Unfortunately, I will not be returning.

You order in the back of the gas station at the window. They also had some premade items like pulled pork, pulled chicken, coleslaw, potato salad and other items in the fridge for take-n-go. They serve sandwiches, platters, and sides. I got the pulled pork which didn't look appealing at first in the fridge, but the lady let me try it and it tasted good. I got Mac n cheese, greens, and potato salad with hush puppies. The hush puppies were good, they're kind of smaller than what I thought they'd be though after seeing pics on past reviews. I wish I'd ordered extra because I did like them!! The pulled pork was tasty with the sauce I got on the side, with a slight vinegar taste. The greens and macaroni were ok, but the greens had huge stalks in them and the leaves were pretty big. I'd prefer them cut smaller, but they weren't bad. Chewing the thick part of the stalk was a little weird. But with hot sauce it worked out. I like that the macaroni was cheesy, it was slightly bland but I liked it anyway. The potato salad was decent, it would have been better if the potatoes were cooked longer, a few potatoes were hard/raw. Even with my complaints, it was still pretty decent food that satisfied my craving. The prices were reasonable. They also sell breakfast and have a few desserts. They have indoor and outdoor seating if you want to dine there. I took the ticket to the front to pay. The guy at the register just wasn't welcoming. I can see some points, but I…read moreguess this is why it's important to visit and make your own decisions about a particular place. Is this a high-end establishment? No, but it's a steady and reliable sports bar that offers solid specials, good prices, and to me, good food for what they are offering. Recently, I had one of their burger specials, and it couldn't be more fresh and juicy, with great flavor. I believe it was a Blue Cheese burger with Bacon Jam, sautéed onions, cheese and cooked medium? Again, it could be just me, but that burger was slappin and I always felt the food quality (maybe recently) has been tasty, hot, quick, and portion sizes that are great. Could the facility use more of a "makeover"? Yeah, and I see why some say it's filty but I can tell that there are transitions happening, and those details are starting to come. I also believe it is run by a new manager (I have seen this person at another establishment and did fantastic), and it seems like it's all moving in the right direction. I would even say if they continued with the blue on the walls throughout the place, that alone would make it have a bit more of a vibe to it that doesn't look so "interesting". The color palette of the pink, blue, and other colors can make it seem less attractive. The flooring and blue walls or maybe a solid color could make this feel like an entirely different place. Bottom line is that this is a local sports bar, and I feel the food has been great (especially when they had the Friday Specials) for what you are getting and the price. Come and visit for yourself as to what you feel because it's not perfect, but it's not terrible either. Keep working on it, AJ Gators, because you are still reliable in our eyes.
