Standouts from this meal were: 1) the side of tomatoes that came with the omelette. Really fresh, ripe, and in season! 2) sausage links in the breakfast platter. Wife ordered the fried seafood platter which was MASSIVE and had a little bit of everything; oysters, shrimp, crab cake, hush puppies, and a massive piece of fried fish. My husband is a huge fan and has been here several times. He used to live just down the street so he would walk over with friends and his son when home for summer and eat either breakfast or lunch here. It's very reasonably priced and the menu has all the breakfast staples you want - benedicts, waffles, omelettes, eggs and hash, corned beef, etc. They also had chip beef and gravy! Large sandwich and lunch on the other side of the menu with salads and other items to please just about anyone. I went for my standard and got the eggs benedict and the eggs were perfectly cooked with a delicious hollandaise sauce and large serving of grits cooked to my granny's perfection. Husband got the corned beef hash and enjoyed it and my mom ordered more traditional with eggs, toast, and protein. Coffee was good and hot and fresh and kept being refilled by our attentive waitress. Drinks served in kiddie cups. Order stuffed founder, got plain flounder. Waitress "didn't hear that", took entrees back, came back 25 minutes later with stuffed flounder. Stuffing was just that, stuffing with some shredded crab thrown in. Scanned the code to pay by phone, they had already added a tip, yet there was another request for a tip directly above. Bill was $90 for two subpar meals at a dive. Had to ask for refills again and again. Turned out it was $37 each plus drink plus tax plus tip plus salad upcharge tried to get two tips online. The food is really good, I recommend the buffalo shrimp - yum! - and aside from great seafood, the burgers, fries, (I got the Chesapeake Bay Burger), and sandwiches are delicious too. For $35, I got: - 1 filet of bland fish - 3 bland shrimps - 3 bland scallops that were not cooked through - 3 salty oysters, also slimy and a bit disgusting - 1 extremely salty crabcake that tasted just like salt and nothing else - 1 side of lima beans tasting like it came out of an old can - 1 side of mashed potato We brought up the salty crabcake issue and the waitress' immediate response was 'we served it three times this evening and nobody said anything'. Not even a 'sorry, let me check with the kitchen' or something like that. When you work in a customer service capacity your job is to listen to the customers' concerns first instead of questioning them. Then find a solution. They replaced the crabcake with three puny shrimps. I'm amused and offended. It's as if they think I don't know what the value of a crabcake vs that of three kiddy shrimps is. Bad food accompanied by bad service. It is definitely a feat that this restaurant has been in business for 71 years. read more

Nick's is a great place to eat while vacationing in Virginia Beach. Fried seafood platter, crab cake dinner deviled crab and the hush puppies were amazing. Located 2 streets from the beach this mom and pop place is quite the seafood dinner. Good food, beach atmosphere, reasonable prices and amazing service. There are so many places to eat near the beach and as someone who is new here picking a place to eat can be a gamble... this place is awesome and so glad we gave Nicks a go. we liked it so much we purchased their T-shirt haha. Every time my mother in law visits us she always insists on us hitting this sweet little dive down by the beach that makes waking up early for breakfast worth toootally worth it! The portion of the food that they give you is extremely generous and if you love cheese then order the cheese grits.. Yum! They do have an option for juice with your breakfast.. it's basically apart of your meal and in my opinion they are all way too sugary so I typically give them to my husband but other than that the breakfast is great! The staff is very friendly. They do tend to get pretty busy on Sunday mornings so I would definitely plan for that if you're looking to check this place out on a weekend! We came for the $13.95 all you can eat flounder special on Tuesday nights. The price is pretty amazing ~ especially considering most of their other nightly specials are also $13.95 but aren't all you can eat. (Though if you're able to eat at 3-5:30pm, their early bird specials are also great prices ~ my mom ordered the fried shrimp and chips for $10.95 and was very happy with it.) The appetizers and sides that came with the all you can eat flounder were also pretty amazing. The hush puppies were fresh and crispy, as were the fries. I am not a cole slaw person but I finished it all~ it was crunchy, fresh, light, and not drowning in mayo. As for the main attraction ~ the flounder ~ it was enormous, much bigger than in the other pictures on Yelp, so I wonder if this is a seasonal thing. I was famished and only finished 4 flounder. (My other 2 tablemates only finished 3 each.) And while the flounder was light on the inside despite the breading on the outside, I was disappointed that the breading wasn't salted to give it flavor. (I have to wonder if this was an accidental omission the one time I went because it's so odd for a restaurant to use no salt at all.) read more
