This place was absolutely great. From the staff that greeted us to our waitress it was an awesome experience. The inside is decorated really nice and the selection of food options was very wide. The food came fast, hot, and tasted amazing. My wife had one of the special breakfast drinks and she said it was very good. When visiting Lake of the Ozarks, the options for great food are limited. You can only have Casey's pizza so many times. So for breakfast, we gave the ol Rusty Rooster a whirl. Needless to say the 3 of us walked out feeling full and glad we stopped by. While I chose a simple Denver Omelette, the portion of the meal and price were very generous and fair. All of the ingredients were fresh and plentiful. I will commend the waitstaff there as the ladies were whipping around from tables to kitchen providing great service! I just hoped they are being paid properly and are getting the 20% + plus in tips from their customers. We experienced this while we were there and understand from others this occurs but plan on at least a 20 minute wait on the weekends. Trust me, the wait is worth it. read more

We are breakfast people and always looking to stop at local restaurants while traveling! We found the Rusty Rooster by driving through Lake of the Ozarks and it looked so busy we knew it had to be the spot! The hostess was just so nice and we only had to wait about 20 minutes for a table! The inside is very clean and decorated a little rustic but yet modern with lots of tables! The menu is so amazing with lots to choose from. I had the stuffed French toast with marscapone and a side of bacon. Let me tell you, you must order the bacon! We visited Friday after the 4th of July after reading the excellent reviews. We expected it to be busy, there were 3 of us and it was a 35 min wait. The bar area is open seating and we were lucky enough to snag seats there. My friend and I both got the shrimp and grits and agreed it was some of the best we'd ever had. Everyone who greeted you from the moment you walked in to this establishment was extremely friendly. Like actually genuinely friendly. The place is really cute and really clean. They have some local goodies to buy at the front of the store such as mugs, skincare products, local taffy, dog bars, etc. if you're inclined to take any of that home with you. When I asked to put an order in to go at the hostess stand, they sent me to the bar. The bartender was very accommodating. She told me there was an automatic 18% gratuity that was added to your bill for take outs. I normally don't tip that much for to go's, but felt due to the nature of the staff and their hospitality, I was fine with this amount. This is a definite upscale diner. Everything looked so good. My dog was waiting in the car so I ordered the egg plate and added bacon. I also added a banana nut muffin. The bacon was a little too fatty for me, and there was an extreme amount of butter on everything, but damn, was it delicious, not to mention it went down easily. I haven't had crispy hash browns like that in a while. To go came with utensils and ketchup, but you'll need to grab your own jelly for your toast! (Update: I had grabbed my own jelly at the bar which was prob why it wasn't included in the to go bag since I mentioned that to the bartender!) I was dying to get the cinnamon roll, but it was huge and I couldn't justify it as 1 person. The muffin was soft and the banana flavor was strong how I like it. Easy 5 star rating on this great place for brunch. Our server was just excellent and took good care of our table. The food was delicious and hot and came out in a reasonable time despite the place being very busy. Biscuits and gravy are excellent, the pancake wrapped egg and cheese and meat breakfast was tasty and the meat sides are generous and delish too. Don't leave without getting a cinnamon roll! We had a little one with us and she made a bit of a mess in her chair but the staff cleaned things up with no complaints as we were leaving. We so enjoyed the Rusty Rooster! We had to wait 20 minutes or so on our way out of town on a Sunday morning but it was definitely worth the wait. It's a popular place! It was fun reading all of the tea towels and tee shirts they had for sale while we were waiting. My husband and I were traveling with 2 friends. Our first breakfast while here and this place had great reviews so we tried. Coming on a Saturday morning, or was busy as expected, but our estimated 20 minute wait was actually only 10 minutes. It's a nice, clean, uncluttered atmosphere, but there is still many unique and cute decor items. We started with a Bloody Mary, ordered spicy; the flavor was delicious. Their rim seasoning is fantastic. Both our meals were hot and delicious. Notable are the hash browns. Crispy on top and bottom with tender potatoes in the middle.
