The ambiance is a typical dive bar / pub. I just want to keep that straight. I mean that should have been obvious when the name of the place has "Roadhouse" to it. However, my family had the impression that it would be a nicer location. The Westchester Magazine BEST "Bloody Mary" was okay. I mean i can see why it was voted best in Westchester, but I do not think it is the best that I have tried. I did like the Old bay / cajun dust that they sprinkled on the rim of the glass. I also like how the olive was stuffed with a jalapeno, but the olive itself was very soft and the color was a greyish green, which was offputting. I wish the olive itself had more of a bite to it and looked more green. They do not skimp on the food here. The cornbread is delish, and it comes with some maple butter or something. The jambalaya is HUGE; I'd be shocked if anyone can finish it in one sitting. Overall, the food is good. I have no complaints here. I do like how they have tv's everywhere playing different sports. I've been going to Rue Roadhouse for years. It's always been a solid meal. Burgers are good, as well as a few other Louisiana favorites. The beer selection is broad and the games are on the TV sets. After 4 years living in New Orleans this place was always a taste of home. The other night the fried chicken was excellent. However, the gumbo was massively disappointing. Dry chicken, all okra, low flavor. Please, don't let quality control fall apart. I will go back one day, but had this been my first visit I would never return. read more

Wonderful family oriented environment. The Cajun Cuban was fantastic! We also had the buffalo wings, jalapeño Mac and cheese, and fried chicken meal. All of the food was excellent and fresh. Rye Roadhouse is a quaint place in Rye. The building is older and I'd love to know some of the history that goes with it. We sat at the bar. The crowd there seemed very easy going & the bartender engaged with the customers. Not a huge selections of taps but the whiskey selection looked substantial. They have a ton of Cajun inspired dishes & I wanted them all. Alas, I had just came off of a big breakfast with plans of a bigger dinner so we ended up splitting an appetizer we could both agree on. Not Cajun but that's ok. The ribs & Buffalo chicken wings were good & plenty for the appetite we brought to the bar. Impressive amount of hot sauces to dabble in too. Parking was easy. I've been wanting to come to the Rye Roadhouse for a while since there isn't many Creole/cajun restaurants in the area. I came here today for dinner and ordered the fried chicken with Mac and cheese and collard greens. The collard greens were the best part of the meal and the chicken was pretty good as well although not amazing. I also tried the jambalaya which I thought was good but my husband thought it was bland. Bloody Mary fans would likely enjoy theirs, although I expected it to have vodka in it. The food is great here but today I walked in to find that not a single person inside was wearing a mask. The bar was crowded (about 30 people) and packed with people close to each other in a reasonably tight enclosed space. It was crowded enough that it was difficult to walk from one end of the bar to the other. I'm glad this place is busy, I just hope they do a better job at enforcing mask wearing inside. read more

A tucked away gem on a one way street off the beaten path of the hustle & bustle. Consistency in my opinion is what makes a place standout among the rest and theirs no doubt the Roadhouse delivers. A fantastic burger, the cornbread & butter alone is one of the best parts of your meal. I was so excited to try this place, but found it extremely disappointing. It's a very loud atmosphere and hard to hear the people you are with (not the fault of the restaurant of course). Our first server was extremely rude and the service was very slow. Luckily, our second server was much nicer. As for the food, it was disappointing. The mac and cheese was watery and came out luke warm. It was brought back to the table, clearly microwaved, and even more watery. In fact, all of our food was served luke warm (at best) except for the fried food. In addition, it was all under seasoned. Maybe they are struggling because of the pandemic. What can I say about rye roadhouse other than that it's a great place! I am a Stepinac football faithful, so this might be one of the reasons I like the roadhouse so much. In all honesty though it really is a great place to go. They put a nice spiced type touch on a ton of American favorites. The gator bites are delicious for sure! It also helps that it's a very nice and family friendly environment. The wait staff is on top of their game, and even when it's busy they get everything out of the kitchen and to the table real fast. What was purported to be a fill rack of ribs was 8 not very meaty ribs (certainly not a full rack) served with luke warm mashed potatoes & mac & cheese swimming in butter but cheese less other than top layer. Review: I've edited my review due to a direct threat of legal action from the owner @ Roadhouse. I happened to be in the Rye area & wanted to stop for a sit down dinner with hubby. After a Yelp search, I found Roadhouse was the preferred local eatery. This place presents itself as Creole/American, but I've found more flavor in a rice cake. I ordered the shrimp & cheese grits. The grits were bland watery slop. I can say the shrimp were decently seasoned, plump & juicy. My side of mac n cheese was an abomination. It looked nicely baked at 1st glance but one stab into it with my spoon revealed cheese soup & parboiled macaroni. My water with lemon was quite refreshing! The cornbread presented for the table was stale & dry. My husband's fried chicken, I must say, was not bad...nothing incredible. The 'Gator Nuggets app were the best part of the meal, packed with flavor & blackened nicely. Halfway through our "meal", we overheard a family next to us say that the head chef had relocated. Boyfriend drove through the residential area of Rye and ended to this cute quaint bar....yes- settled in the middle of residential houses. Kind skeptical until I got in. I am kinda picky with food . It was already packed and we were lucky to get a seat in the bar otherwise a long wait. It seems this is were the locals go. Everyone is extremely friendly and ended up tasting someone else's appetizer, blackened gator....LOL. Food was served fast. We had such a great time. I had grilled mahi mahi and enjoyed it a lot. BF had meat loaf. I will order the blackened one for next time. Two thumbs up and will surely come back. Southern food is the way to go when you come here and be ready to mingle. I am appalled. I walked into this place with my fiance and we were "greeted", aka glared at by a rude old woman. We asked for a table two and she says "you have got to be kidding me." Then turns to one of her tables and says to them "what did I tell ya?" All the while she's huffing and puffing and shaking her head. She told us to pick a booth in back. The bloody mary was excellent, the food not so much. The mussels appetizer tasted as though the seafood used had been frozen. A blackened chicken wrap used chicken that was spiced not blackened. Isn't crawfish ettoufe supposed to have crawfish? Full disclosure my friend ordered a combo of crawfish and shrimp but as stated there were no crawfish. But then again it wasn't really ettouffe since it came with some kind of red sauce which certainly was not a roux. This is a solid restaurant. It isn't especially great but it is definitely solid. We had the shrimp po boy, Cuban and steak sandwich. The sweet potato fries were over fried, bordering on burned and the texture of the bread was day old. At the same time the portion for price was more than reasonable. I see the management hasn't changed. Went here for a graduation dinner years back and have never been treated with such disrespect. We were a group of young people of color and were harassed by this older customer. The owner did nothing to defend us, we were just kids who wanted to enjoy a nice meal. When we tried to explain that we were being treated poorly, they told us to "take our business elswhere". Looking at the reviews, management is still rude, disrespectful and condescending. First time here. It's in a residential area of old homes but has free parking after 5 PM at the business on the corner. This location is obvious if you are there. I had the jambalaya...the large which was large. The taste was large too, warm but not so hot that your kids would not eat it. Not exactly Bourbon St. but chef P. Would not be offended. Let me start by saying the food was terrific! I had the biscuits and sausage gravy, fried eggs, cheese grits and bacon - this was part of a brunch special. That aside, the service was terrible, I showed up by myself to eat. The bar was full with no seat available, so I had to sit in the dining room. But since there were no small tables, I had to sit at a table for 4. The waitress was basically breathing down my neck asking repeatedly if everything was okay...it's obvious she wanted me to finish quickly to free up the table. One of the waiters grabbed my plate as soon as I ate the last piece of bacon...I wasn't even done chewing. Went in with the family on a Saturday for lunch. Service and execution were lacking. One and a half pieces were undercooked. I told the server and he didn't say anything. Did not offer to maybe replace with more. He did reduce the price by 10% but really that probably could have been reduced more. Service was slow. Family of three that arrived 5 minutes before us were finished their meal and left before we even for our food. No drink refills. Party of four who arrived five minutes after us received their food before us. There was just us three parties in the dining room side. Oh and I had a piece of plastic in my mac and cheese. Tucked away in a backstreet of Rye It's worth a try and worth a second one also and maybe a 3rd and a 4th until you try everything on the menu, The great part about it is, they have an idea and it's creole and they stick with it and execute really well on the food and decor, The food is really good I've had fried calamari, mac n cheese , the jambalaya which was awesome and the blackened chicken sandwich, which was super fresh and tasty, and lucky enough to dip into my wife's rice and beans which were super authentic, The owners are super friendly and on top of everything, you can tell they are paying attention to the execution and as a customer that is always appreciated, Beer on tap is fresh n cold!!, Bloody Mary is worth a try it's delicious really authentic also!! It can get a little tight to move around, the eating area is not the biggest space, definitely call before you show up, and tho the lighting is perfect there are 4 walls and no windows, so it can feel like space is closing in when the restaurant is getting packed, the servers and staff are very friendly, and though the restaurant was packed they got the food out in A timely manner which is also super key, overall liked this place.
